Harry Potter stars recall the time when Emma Watson considered leaving the franchise - "The fame thing had hit"

English actress and activist Emma Watson and some of her Harry Potter costars opened up during the 20th anniversary reunion special about a stressful moment in her career, the time she considered leaving the franchise.

Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy alongside Watson's Hermione Granger, said, "People definitely forget what she took on and how gracefully she did it. Dan [Radcliffe] and Rupert [Grint], they had each other. I had my cronies, whereas Emma was not only younger, she was by herself."

Emma Watson was 10 years old when she was cast as book-smart Hermione, often called the brightest witch of her age, in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Radcliffe and Grint were both 11 when they landed the parts of Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Director David Yates said that when he came on to helm the remainder of the Harry Potter films starting with 2007's Order of the Phoenix, producer David Heyman and Warner Bros. told him "Emma is not sure she wants to come back to do another Potter."

In Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, she mentioned, "I did find a diary entry that was kind of like…" Watson said. "I could see that at times I was lonely." Later in the special, she mentioned, "The fame thing had finally hit home in a big way."

"We never talked about it on the film because we were all just kids," Radcliffe recollected. "As a 14-year-old boy, I was never gonna turn around to another 14-year-old and be like, 'Hey, how are you doing? Is everything okay?'" It turns out, though, that all three of the lead actors were having shared feelings but never addressing it with each other. "I had similar feelings to Emma, contemplating what life would be like if I called it a day," Grint admits.

According to Watson, no one had to convince her to stick with the franchise till the end. "The fans genuinely wanted me to succeed and all genuinely have each other's backs," she says.

Ekta Kapoor is all set to bring back Naagin series with season 6, says 'world is changing'

TV producer Ekta Kapoor had previously assured that the much-loved show Naagin will soon return with another season. The producer had announced the comeback of the show on Bigg Boss 15.

Living up to the commitment, the makers on Sunday treated fans to the show’s first-ever glimpse. A short teaser of 22 seconds introduces the theme and promises to be different than other seasons. As soon as the video begins, the narrator says that the world has undergone a lot of changes since 2019. It refers to Covid-19 pandemic and how it has changed lives. By the end of the teaser, the viewers are promised that even the Naagin has undergone a major change. Ekta had dropped a hint on who will star in the series. Fans of the show had hinted that Mahekk Chahal, who participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi season 11, will be leading the show. However, there is no official announcement on the cast of the series yet.

Naagin started off in 2015 with actors Mouni Roy, Arjun Bijlani and Adaa Khan. While Mouni went on to lead the show in its second season, Karanvir Bohra replaced Arjun. The third season, which aired in 2018, starred Surbhi Jyoti, Pearl V Puri, Anita Hassanandani and Rajat Tokas.

The show, in 2020, got a new name and a new star cast. Titled Naagin: Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel, the show starred Nia Sharma and Vijayendra Kumeria, which did not get good TRPs. In an Instagram video, Ekta Kapoor accepted that the season suffered due to mediocre writing compared to the last seasons. “I want to thank all my actors, Nia, Anita, Vijayendra and Jasmin. You guys did a brilliant job. If anything, I have let you all down. I think we worked a little less on the script this season. It was mediocre and I promise we will do better this time. Hope all of you (the audience) will come back. We really want to make something special and amazing. We are working really hard and diligently for the new season,” she had shared.

Soon, the fifth season of Naagin was aired. It took over the television screens from August 2020 to February 2021. It had Surbhi Chandna, Sharad Malhotra and Mohit Sehgal in the lead roles.

As per reports, the anticipated sixth season is set to premiere from January 30 onwards.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, when Parineeti was asked about the advice she got from her cousin before she entered the industry, she revealed, “She(Priyanka) said carve your own identity and show the world what you can do”.

Further, she was asked about one thing that she thinks comes casually to her contemporaries but she finds awkward to do. Responding to the question, Parineeti said, “There are two things. One is they are very good at self-grooming, styling, taking care of fashion, taking care of being ready. They are very good at it. But I have to work very hard at just getting ready and being fashion conscious. That is something I have learned over time. The second one that comes very easily to them is their knowledge of films and their knowledge of the industry and meeting the right people and making the right connections which I am still learning.”

On the work front, Parineeti will next be seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal.

Mohit Raina who is popularly known for his role in the Television show Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev got married in an intimate ceremony with Aditi. On New Year's Day, the actor surprised his fans with pictures from his wedding ceremony.

Sharing pictures from the marriage ceremony, Mohit wrote, "Love recognises no barriers, it jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination, full of hope. Singer Guru Randhawa and actress Nora Fatehi star in a new promo for The Kapil Sharma Show. This weekend, they'll be promoting their new music video, ‘Dance Meri Rani’, on the show.

In the video, host Kapil Sharma is seen asking Guru, "Pichhle video mein aapne inko robot banaya, iss video mein aapne inko jalpari banaya. Sacchi batana, Mann main kya banana chahte ho (In the previous video, Naach Meri Rani, you made her a robot, in this video, you made her a mermaid. Tell the truth, what do you really want to take her in your heart)?” Guru laughed and said that the next time he appears on the show, he would like to answer the question.

Further, Nora was asked by Kapil if Guru had improved his dancing since their debut music video together, ‘Naach Meri Rani’. “Actually, Mujhe lagta hai ki agar woh mere saath nahi hai toh woh naachta nahi hai (I think he does not dance when he is not with me),” she said.  She went on to say “Baaki music videos mein Sirf Ek hi cheez Karta hai (He only does one thing in the other music videos) and imitated Guru rubbing his palms together. This left host Kapil in splits.

For a long time, Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul kept quiet about their alleged relationship. Their dinner dates and social media banter spoke eloquently about their love story, despite the fact that they never made their relationship official. The duo recently made headlines when they appeared together at a special screening of Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria's film Tadap.

The legendary iconic Mumtaz on her favourite co-star Rajesh Khanna & her love for the colour orange

The iconic actress Mumtaz, the heartthrob of millions danced her way into immortality with iconic numbers like ‘Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche’ (Bramhachari), ‘Bindiya Chamkegi’ (Do Raaste) and ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar’ (Aap Ki Kasam). Most of her most famous songs featured her in orange costumes.

When I spoke to her, Mumtaz happily admitted to an orange fixation. “Indeed orange was my favourite colour. I am a very fair-complexioned girl of Persian origin. Bright colours suited me. I especially loved orange. I’d sit with my costume designer Bhanu Athaiya and make sure the orange colour figured in the songs and dances.”

The sizzling ‘Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche’ song-and-dance with Shammi Kapoor had Mumtaz making one major adjustment. “I remember we opted for an orange saree instead of a gown. Normally I would dance in western outfits for western-rhythmed song like this. But on this occasion the Sippys (producers of Bramhachari) insisted on a saree. So Bhanu and I created a specially designed saree. The song had a lot of jerks and movements. So we had to make sure the saree remained in place.”

The actress whose performances in Khilona, Tere Mere Sapne, Aap Ki Kasam, Jheel Ke Uss Paar and Aaina established her as one of the two topmost actresses of the 1970s (the other being Hema Malini) is now in Mumbai.

Where’s Mumtaz’s headquarters these days? “Well, I’ve homes in London, Nairobi and Mumbai. So you tell me where my home is.”

Why did she quit and leave at the peak of your career just because she got married? “Maine industry hi nahin chhoda. Shaher aur mulk bhi chhod diya. I got married to the man I loved. I had two lovely daughters. Now I’ve four beautiful grandchildren and they’re the loves of my life. I couldn’t have asked for more. No regrets about leaving the industry.”

Mumtaz’s last films were with Rajesh Khanna whom she admits to being very fond of. “He was my favourite, no doubt. And I was his favourite. I can’t remember how many films we did together. But we were constantly working together, right till I quit the industry. Unke filmon mein heroine ko zyada kuch karna ko nahin hota ttha (in his films the leading lady didn’t have much to do). But I like that film which featured the song ‘Duniya Mien Logon Ko Dokha Kabhi Ho Jata Hai’ ….Apna Desh. I had a well-etched role in that. Then there was Aap Ki Kasam where both of us were equally important. It had a very controversial subject where the wife leaves her suspicious husband although she’s pregnant. I remember Kakajee and I had heated discussions with the film’s producer-director J Om Prakashji about whether the film will work or not. Eventually it was made and it was a big hit.”

Ask her to name her favourite film from her vast repertoire and she answers, “I can’t name my favourite. But I can tell you which was the most difficult. It was Vijay Anand’s Tere Mere Sapne. I had to underplay my part all through the film. It is very difficult to do this in our cinema where actresses had to do a lot of loud rona-dhona. Let me tell you, underplayed performances are far more difficult than the dramatic ones. So yes, Khilona and the other well-known performances of mine were all good. But Tere Mere Sapne was the toughest.”

Mumtaz’s last film Aaina before she married and quit at the peak of her career, also starred Rajesh Khanna. Mumtaz was smashingly powerful as a daughter of an impoverished Brahmin family who takes to prostitution to make ends meet.

She recalls the film fondly. “Yes, that was the only film of ours where Kakajee took a backseat. But that was his guest appearance. That was a very powerful subject, directed by a very powerful and influential director of the South (K Balachander). The film flopped. People could not accept the heroine’s character. Many years later Yash Raj Films made the same subject (Laga Chunri Mein Daag). Lekin wohbhi nahin chali (that didn’t succeeded either).

Although Rajesh Khanna had the reputation of being temperamental Mumtaz says she had no problems working with the Superstar. “The only time he’d get upset with me was when I signed films with other heroes. He would go and sulk in the corner. It was okay for him to work with other heroines. There are separate rules for men and women. He always treated me with the utmost affection and care. He affectionately called me ‘Moti’. Because I was always on the plump side. That’s the way it was. And I didn’t mind. As far as being moody is concerned, I was the friendliest person on the set. I sat and chatted with all the technicians between shots. I never behaved like a star. So why would anyone behave like a star with me?

Mumtaz is now in Mumbai catching up with old friends spending time with her daughter Natasha and son-in-law actor Fardeen Khan. “I am spending time with my loved ones here in Mumbai as long as I’m here. Who know where tomorrow will take me? My world revolves around my beautiful grandchildren”

Mohanlal goes bald in the first look of his directorial debut Barroz

Mohanlal who has entertained the audience as an actor for decades took charge behind the camera in 2021 with the film Barroz. The superstar's directorial debut went on floors in March last year. The actor will also be starring in the film and on the occasion of the New Year; he dropped the first look from the film.

In the first look, Mohanlal is seen in a completely new avatar with a bald head and thick moustache, and beard. He looks majestic as she is seen sitting on a throne-like golden seat.

Sharing the first look poster, Mohanlal wrote, "Here's a toast to another year that rises before us.  Wishing all good fortunes and prosperity upon each one of you! May this year turn out to be one of the most treasured time frames of your life!"

Mohanlal plays the titular role of Barroz- a mythological character, a genie, who guards Vasco Da Gama's treasure. The film which is being shot in 3D will have significant use of animation and VFX technology. The film is based on the story written by Jijo Punnoose who is the creator of the iconic Malayalam movie My Dear Kuttichathan, the first 3D movie from India. Spanish actors Paz Vega and Rafael Amargo and veteran Malayalam actor Prathap Pothen will be seen in pivotal roles in the film. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvaad Cinemas.

SS Rajamouli lauds Tovino Thomas starrer Minnal Murali- "We have a superhit superhero now"

Tovino Thomas’s latest superhero outing on Netflix “Minnal Murali” is receiving rave reviews from the audience and critics alike. Director SS Rajamouli who is known to make larger-than-life movies like Eega, Bahubali and now RRR, has praised Minnal Murali and congratulated Tovino Thomas for scoring a hit with the film.

Rajamouli also expressed his gratitude to Tovino Thomas for appearing at the RRR promotional event in Kerala and said, “Minnal Murali is indeed a great film. Everyone here has always wished that we should have a superhero of our own, and it’s evident, we have a superhit superhero now.” With Tovino being a diverse actor, Jr. NTR stated how he is in love with this quality.

Minnal Murali narrates the story of an ordinary man Jaison from a small town and how he becomes the superhero Minnal Murali and talks about how this event changes his life. Produced by Weekend Blockbusters (Sophia Paul) and directed by Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas plays the titular role of Minnal Murali alongside Guru Somasundaram, Harisree Ashokan, and Aju Varghese. The film premiered on 24th December on Netflix.

Post the release of the film Ranveer Singh in an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama spoke about the appreciation he has been receiving for the film . During the chat, he also revealed his wife and actress Deepika Padukone's reaction to the film and his performance.

Talking about Deepika's reaction Ranveer said, "The best and biggest thing is the love my wife is giving me after watching 83. Among the love and affection, and appreciation from all corners I would say the way Deepika has reacted is really special. I'm getting a lot of extra love in the past few weeks since she has watched 83. She is feeling prouder than ever before and expressing it to me in different ways. I'm just lapping it up. So, she is very proud of my work and I've been getting more love and affection from her than ever before. So, this is one of the best things to come after 83 for me.

Deepika Padukone who is the co-producer of 83 also essayed the role of Kapil Dev's wife Romi Dev in the film.

Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda is going Pan-India with his upcoming movie Liger which stars Ananya Panday and Mike Tyson in a special role. While fans have been eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse, the makers have finally dropped the first teaser on New Year's Eve.

In the very first teaser, you see rushes of Liger, who is a well-known MMA fighter. He is being trained by Ronit Bose Roy. It is an action-packed teaser with loads of fight scenes. Vijay Deverakonda has completely changed his physique altogether.

Liger will also feature numerous foreign fighters. In association with Puri connects, the film is being produced jointly by Bollywood's leading production house Dharma Productions.

Given it is one of the biggest Pan India projects and moreover, with Mike Tyson on board, Puri Connects and Dharma Productions are making the film on a grand scale. The film has cinematography handled by Vishnu Sarma, while Kecha from Thailand is the stunt director. Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta together are bankrolling the film.

Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy play prominent roles in Liger which is being made in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. Liger is in the last leg of shooting and the makers will release it on August 25, 2022, worldwide.

Liger is being made on a grand scale and the makers have also roped in legendary boxer Mike Tyson for a special role. Vijay and Ananya recently shot with Mike Tyson in the USA.

Liger will also feature numerous foreign fighters. In association with Puri connects, the film is being produced jointly by Bollywood's leading production house Dharma Productions. The film has cinematography handled by Vishnu Sarma, while Kecha from Thailand is the stunt director. Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar, and Apoorva Mehta together are bankrolling the film.

Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy play prominent roles in Liger which is being made in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. The film will be released on August 25, 2022, worldwide.

Google puts up billboards in New York, London and Los Angeles to celebrate T-Series' phenomenal rise to the top

Bhushan Kumar's T-Series makes it to the prestigious Times Square billboard in New York, Westfield Mall in London, and in Olympic Blvd, opposite the Grammy Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, as the first Youtube channel to surpass 202 Million Subscribers. Raising the bar higher and shattering all records, India’s largest music label, and movie studio, T-Series has crossed the milestone of 202 Million subscribers on YouTube, the first-ever channel across the world to do so. The news has taken the world by storm, quite literally, and has made it to coveted billboards across New York, London, and Los Angeles with congratulatory messages flowing in from all over. These billboards were put up by the biggest search engine in the world, Google.

The achievement comes after T-Series witnessed remarkable growth, churning out not only the finest music but also a wide range of films under its banner. T-Series becomes the first YouTube channel globally to cross 202 million subscribers. With 29 channels across languages and genres, the total subscriber base for the T-Series network is more than 388 million with over 742 billion views.
