Isopure responds after Bipasha Basu alleges worms in protein powder: “Quality team evaluating pack”

Protein brand Isopure has issued a statement after actor Bipasha Basu alleged that she found worms in a newly opened container of its protein powder. In a video shared on social media, Bipasha claimed the product was contaminated, prompting an immediate response from the company.

“ISOPURE remains firmly committed to maintaining high standards of product quality and consumer safety. We connected promptly with the concerned Indian celebrity consumer, addressed her immediate concern, and appreciate her acknowledgement of our response. Our Quality team is currently evaluating the pack for authenticity and quality,” the company said in its statement.

In the clip circulated by the actress, Bipasha showed what appeared to be a small worm on her finger and stated that there were several others inside the container. “This Isopure is full of small worms. Tiny, tiny worms. The new dabba that we’ve opened,” she said while displaying the contents. Adding, “These are the worms inside it, full of it,” Bipasha alleged that the product was compromised.

The actor also sought regulatory intervention by tagging Tukaram Mundhe, Commissioner of Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In her Instagram Story, she wrote, “@tukaram ias You are our only hope... So, we don't get spoilt or adulterated stuff in everything we purchase.”

Bipasha’s post arrives amid heightened attention on food safety and hygiene concerns involving products and establishments in Maharashtra. However, the specific allegation regarding the protein powder has not been independently verified at this stage.

The incident follows Bipasha’s recent digital cover appearance for Elle, where she discussed work, motherhood and making bold choices despite being advised against them. Her latest social media update, however, shifted focus from professional projects to a consumer safety concern that has quickly sparked widespread discussion online.

As Isopure’s quality team evaluates the pack, all eyes will be on the outcome of the investigation and whether further regulatory action follows.

CONFIRMED: Ajay Devgn-starrer Ranger pushed to 2027; WON’T clash with Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan’s comic caper, Eetha

Ajay Devgn is currently gearing up for the much-awaited Drishyam The Conclusion. The thriller releases in cinemas on October 2 and marks the veteran actor’s second release of the year after the super-hit Dhamaal 4. His next film, tentatively-titled Ranger, co-starring Sanjay Dutt and Tamannaah Bhatia, was expected to arrive in cinemas on December 4. However, since last month, there have been reports that the film has been pushed to 2027.

Bollywood Hungama has now learned that the film has indeed been postponed and will release only next year. A source told us, “The film should release after Eid, which falls in March 2027. Hence, expect Ranger to be a summer release, which would be apt. It’s a jungle adventure and would be an ideal film to release during the school and college holidays.”

December 4, meanwhile, will now see the release of Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan-Raashii Khanna’s untitled comic caper, directed by Anees Bazmee. It will clash with Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Eetha. There’s also a possibility of Prabhas’ period action drama, Fauzi, releasing on December 3. However, as per trade sources, it’s unlikely and like Ranger, it maybe pushed to 2027.

This means Ajay Devgn will have just two releases in 2026. According to an August report in Mid-Day, Ranger features Ajay as a forest officer determined to protect tigers. However, his mission is made increasingly difficult by an inefficient team, corrupt superiors and a ruthless gang of poachers led by Sanjay Dutt, who plays the antagonist.

The Mid-Day report also said that the climax was shot last month in Mumbai, after which the makers plan to film a special dance number with Tamannaah Bhatia and Ajay Devgn.

Ranger is produced by Luv Ranjan and directed by Jagan Shakti. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama in January 2026, Luv said, “Ajay sir and Sanju sir have worked together so many times in these 25 years. Yet, they have never done an action film together. It is very shocking. It is extremely exciting that we’ll get to see them in an action film for the first time.”

Karnataka High Court quashes 2% cess on movie tickets; big relief for multiplexes and moviegoers

In a significant relief for cinema exhibitors, the Karnataka High Court has quashed notices that had made the collection and remittance of a 2% cess on cinema tickets mandatory. The order, delivered on September 10, 2026, came in response to a writ petition filed by the Multiplex Association of India (MAI), PVR INOX, and other stakeholders in the exhibition sector.

The petitioners had challenged the notices on the grounds that they lacked legal backing. The Court agreed, noting that the Karnataka Cine and Cultural Workers (Welfare) Act, 2024, under which the cess was to be levied, had not yet been formally notified. In the absence of this notification, the Court held that the notices directing exhibitors to collect and remit the levy were issued without jurisdiction, and accordingly quashed them.

The ruling comes alongside a related development on the administrative front, with the State Government having already withdrawn its office order dated August 29, 2026, which had pertained to the same cess.

The case stemmed from concerns raised by MAI over the proposed additional levy on movie tickets. The association had argued that an added cess would push up the cost of cinema-going for audiences, potentially discouraging footfalls at a time when the exhibition sector is already navigating a challenging business environment. MAI further contended that such a levy would work against the broader push towards simplifying the indirect tax structure for the entertainment sector.

With the High Court's order now in place, questions remain around what lies ahead for welfare mechanisms intended to support cultural workers in the state, and whether alternative frameworks will be explored to address that objective without directly burdening ticket prices.

MAI has indicated that it is open to facilitating discussions with its representatives on the matter, including the broader implications of the ruling for exhibitors and consumers, industry concerns around taxation and affordability, potential alternative mechanisms for worker welfare initiatives, and the road ahead for Karnataka's cinema exhibition sector.

Richa Chadha unveils trailer of her first non-fiction series Musafiri; to premiere on YouTube

Richa Chadha is venturing into non-fiction with Musafiri, an eight-episode series that takes her through Mumbai's people, places, histories, and lesser-known stories. The actor is hosting, writing and producing the series, which marks her first non-fiction project and her debut on YouTube.

The trailer for Musafiri was unveiled ahead of its premiere on Phull Stop, the YouTube channel launched by Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal. The first episode will be released on September 25, with a new episode dropping every Friday.

Richa Chadha explores Mumbai through Musafiri

The first season of Musafiri is focused entirely on Mumbai, a city that has been closely associated with Richa’s personal and professional journey. Instead of focusing only on well-known landmarks, the series will explore lesser-known histories, overlooked spaces and stories connected to the people who live and work in the city.

Across the eight episodes, Richa will interact with residents, historians, cultural practitioners and other experts while exploring different aspects of Mumbai.

The idea for the series emerged from Richa’s experience of motherhood and the curiosity it brought about her surroundings. In the trailer, she reflects on how becoming a mother changed the way she viewed familiar things.

Richa Chadha on how motherhood led to Musafiri

Speaking about the series, Richa said, “Motherhood changed the way I look at the world. It makes you curious all over again , you start questioning things you have taken for granted, looking at the familiar with a completely different sense of wonder. I found myself asking so many questions about the city I have lived in for years. Do I really know Mumbai? How much of this city do I actually know? And a question that stayed with me was, a city that has given me so much, what do I owe it in return?”

Richa also spoke about her longstanding interest in history, art and culture, which became another reason for her to take on the project.

“I have always been curious about history, art, culture and people. I was a history honours student and grew up in a family where academics and curiosity were very much a part of our lives. Musafiri felt like a natural extension of that part of me. It is my attempt to travel through a city I thought I knew, but with fresh eyes."

Musafiri marks Richa and Ali Fazal’s next production

Musafiri is produced by Pushing Buttons Studios, the production company founded by Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal. It follows Girls Will Be Girls as the second production from the banner.

The series also marks the duo’s move into non-fiction after their earlier work in fiction. Musafiri will stream on Phull Stop, with its eight episodes scheduled to release weekly.

The series premieres on September 25, with subsequent episodes arriving every Friday. Its focus on Mumbai allows Richa to revisit the city through conversations and stories that go beyond its most recognisable landmarks.

SCOOP: Rajat Kapoor joins Akshay Kumar’s Samuk; actor to play a pivotal role

Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Samuk is continuing to build an eclectic ensemble, and we hear acclaimed actor-filmmaker Rajat Kapoor is the latest name to come on board the sci-fi action thriller.

According to sources, Kapoor is said to be playing a pivotal part in the Kanishk Varma directorial, which is being produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures and co-produced by Aashin A Shah. The film, currently being shot in the UK, is being mounted as a large-scale theatrical spectacle combining science fiction, action and survival elements.

Kapoor is known for bringing a certain assured nuance and intelligence to his performances. Over the years, he has moved fluidly between character-driven parts and mainstream Hindi cinema, with performances in films such as Monsoon Wedding (2001), Bheja Fry (2007), Kapoor & Sons (2016), Mulk (2018), Drishyam (2015), Drishyam 2 (2022), Gehraiyaan (2022), etc., thus forming part of an unusually varied body of work. Recently, Rajat Kapoor was part of the ensemble of Netflix’s Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders (2025) and was also seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga (2026).

Rajat Kapoor brings a very different quality to the ensemble. He has the ability to deliver an assured performance which amps up the movie, and that is important for a film like Samuk. The role has weight within the story, and the makers felt he was the right fit.

Kapoor’s reported addition gives Samuk yet another interesting casting, bringing together performers with very different screen energies around Akshay Kumar.

Samuk marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah after a gap of 13 years. The project has been in development for over two years and is being mounted on a large scale for theatrical audiences.

Anjali Arora gives her take on the ongoing Ranbir Kapoor - prasad controversy; says, “Prasad is God’s blessing, it doesn’t increase weight”

An old video of Ranbir Kapoor from a past Ganpati celebration has resurfaced online, sparking a fresh social media debate around prasad and celebrity conduct. In the clip, the actor is seen visiting a pandal, seeking blessings, and accepting a box of sweets from the priest. However, he then turns to the photographers and says, “Main diet par hoon. Aap log kha loge (I am on diet, will you guys eat?),” before handing the box over when they agree, and walking away.

The moment quickly drew criticism from netizens, with many calling it disrespectful to refuse prasad, which in Hindu tradition is considered food blessed by the Gods. The incident has since become a reference point in conversations around faith, fitness and public image.

Amid this backdrop, actress Anjali Arora offered a contrasting perspective during the trailer launch of Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha, the upcoming epic in which she features in the role of Goddess Sita. When asked about her opinion on prasad, she emphasized her personal devotion and love for sweets. “Main toh khud Ganpati rakh kar aayi hoon ghar pe. And I love meetha. Main toh itna meetha khati hoon (I have brought Ganpati home myself. And I love sweets. I eat so many sweets),” Anjali said.

She added, “Aur waise bhi jo Prasad humein milta hai woh aashirvaad hota hai. Usse na humara weight badta hai. Usse humein sadbhudhi hi milti hai (And anyway, the prasad we receive is a blessing. It doesn’t increase our weight. It only gives us good sense/wisdom).”

Continuing, she advised, “Toh jitna prasad aapko mile, yeh nahi hai ki bahut saara khana hai, par thoda thoda khaya karo. Kyunki woh bhagwan ka aashirvaad hota hai. Aur aapko nahi pata kab kya mil jaye. Suna hai na kisi bhi roop mein Narayan mil jayenge (So whatever prasad you get, it’s not that you have to eat a lot, but have a little bit. Because that is God’s blessing. And you never know when you might receive something in any form. You’ve heard, right, that Narayan can appear in any form).”

Anjali’s comments arrive as the industry gears up for a festive clash. Her movie Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha is being positioned as a big-budget epic, while Ranbir Kapoor’s film Ramayana is slated for a Diwali release. With both projects drawing from the same mythological universe, the conversation around faith, representation and public gestures has gained additional traction.

While Ranbir’s prasad moment continues to divide opinion online, Anjali’s stance underscores a belief shared by many devotees: prasad is less about calories and more about aashirvaad.

EXCLUSIVE: Abundantia Entertainment and Almighty Motion Picture join hands for Kodaikanal Mercury thriller Heavy Metal

Abundantia Entertainment, led by Vikram Malhotra, and Almighty Motion Picture, led by Prabhleen Sandhu, have joined hands to produce Heavy Metal, a feature film based on Ameer Shahul’s investigative book Heavy Metal: How a Global Corporation Poisoned Kodaikanal, published by Pan Macmillan. The film is currently in pre-production, with principal casting underway and filming expected to begin soon.

The project will explore the mercury contamination controversy in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, and the events surrounding a thermometer factory operated by Hindustan Unilever. The issue came into focus in 2001 following allegations related to the disposal of mercury-contaminated waste from the facility.

Over the years, the controversy developed into a prolonged campaign involving former factory workers, local residents, environmental activists and Greenpeace. The issue also attracted international attention, raising questions around worker safety, corporate accountability and environmental responsibility.

Based on Shahul’s investigative account, the film is being developed as a corporate-environmental thriller with an investigative narrative and a strong human element. The makers are looking to explore the events through the experiences of those affected by the controversy and the larger questions surrounding industrial practices and environmental impact.

According to those familiar with the project, the creative approach draws inspiration from films and series such as Erin Brockovich, Dark Waters and Chernobyl, while focusing on the specific events surrounding the Kodaikanal controversy.

For Almighty Motion Picture, Heavy Metal adds to its slate of projects inspired by real-world events, people and institutions. The production house recently backed the streaming series Made in India: A Titan Story.

The collaboration with Abundantia Entertainment brings together two production banners for a project that combines elements of a corporate thriller, investigative mystery and human drama.

The film is expected to go on floors shortly. Details about the director, cast and other members of the production team are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Amaal Mallik warns trolls amid ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ credit controversy: “Music ka SRK hoon, magar gussa mera Salman Khan wala hai”

Amaal Mallik has responded strongly to social media users targeting his family amid the ongoing discussion surrounding his song ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’. The composer took to social media to address the criticism and made it clear that while he may respond to comments directed at him, he would not accept remarks aimed at his family.

On Wednesday, Amaal shared a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, drawing a distinction between criticism of his work and comments about his family. He wrote, “A statutory warning to the entire audience on each & every social platform of the world… Not a word about my family will be tolerated.”

Amaal was referring to the controversy surrounding ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’, the 2015 song sung by Salman Khan. Addressing the discussion around the song's credits, he explained the contributions of everyone involved in its making. Amaal wrote, “Firstly, know that Armaan Malik has sung the main version, because of which it could be presented to the actor-producer Mr Salman Khan and director Mr Nikhil Advani. I made it, @kumaarofficial sir wrote it, @ArmaanMalik22 sang it; hence it got approved and then @BeingSalmanKhan sir sang it. That’s how the cookie crumbles, and that’s exactly how it happened, okay? FYI, without Me & Kumaar sir, there would be no song to sing. Without Armaan, there would be nothing to play to Salman, sir. Without SK’s face & voice version, the song wouldn’t be where it is today; never denied that. But does anyone even pause to think how much goes into creating a song and then get left out of every celebration post every year.”

A statutory warning to the entire audience on each & every social platform of the world…

Not a word about my family will be tolerated.

Targeting me is part of your game plan, gives you some likes and eyeballs - GREAT!

You are welcome ;)

Last few days I have been seeing… pic.twitter.com/nEx3qvLr3e — Amaal Mallik (@AmaalMallik) September 16, 2026

The composer further warned that he would publicly address those who make comments about his family. He also spoke about standing by his father, Daboo Malik, and his family despite their estrangement.

“I will expose each one of you here if I find you saying anything against my family. Also, if anyone from the film industry, without probable cause or reason, stands up against me and mine, watch out, I’ll be coming for you… Music ka #Srk hoon main, Magar gussa mera #SalmanKhan Aur #SanjayDutt wala hai. Yeh sab doosro ko saath chalta hoga, Daboo Malik aur unki family ke saath Bilkul nahi… Amaal Mallik unke saath khada tha, hai aur rahega bhi. So, bhidna at your own risk. (This might happen with others, but definitely not with Daboo Malik and his family… Amaal Mallik stood with them, stands with them, and will continue to stand with them. So, clash at your own risk).”

The controversy began after Salman Khan Films shared a social media post marking 10 years of ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ without initially mentioning Amaal Mallik as the composer. Amaal subsequently called out the omission, following which the post was edited to include his credit.

The incident also led to criticism of Amaal on social media, with some users calling him ‘ungrateful’ towards Salman Khan. Amaal and his singer-brother Armaan Malik subsequently defended his position publicly, resulting in further discussion online.

SHOCKING: Gurugram youth takes inspiration from Vikrant Massey’s Pritam And Pedro character to allegedly con student of Rs. 24.60 lakhs

The web series Pritam And Pedro, produced by Rajkumar Hirani and starring his son Vir Hirani alongside Arshad Warsi and Vikrant Massey, has been appreciated for its humour, writing, performances and, most importantly, its message about cybercrime. Ironically, a youth in Gurugram allegedly took inspiration from the series to commit a crime himself. His plan, however, was short-lived as the police tracked him down and arrested him.

As per an article in the Times of India, the accused, Alok K, posed as a student counsellor and met a 21-year-old person earlier this year, who was enrolled in a distance-learning programme for an MBA (finance) with a prestigious management institute. The student and the accused met at a cafe in Juhu, Mumbai and the latter helped the former complete his admission formalities. As a result, the student started to trust him.

A few months ago, the victim was appearing for an online exam when an alert appeared on his device screen that copying had been detected. According to the report in the Times of India, the student called the accused and clarified that he was not copying. The same alert popped up on the last day of the exam, and this time, the application crashed.

The article then states, “Alok called up the student and inquired whether he had been copying again. At this, the student once again denied any wrongdoing. The student grew nervous when Alok warned him that he would be debarred and blacklisted and would never be able to get admission in any other university in future. Alok offered to sort out the matter and started demanding money. He also promised to refund the money if he was unable to do the job.”

The student then transferred Rs. 24.60 lakhs in installments, out of which Alok refunded him only Rs. 1.15 lakh. Meanwhile, the student passed the exam and yet, the accused kept on demanding money. This is when the student realized that he had been conned. He told his parents about it and subsequently lodged a complaint at the Bangur Nagar police station earlier this month.

The cops surveilled Alok’s phone records and the money trail, which helped them track his location to Gurugram. He was arrested on September 11. The article revealed, “Police said Alok used to previously work at a call centre that had been contracted by the management institute to coordinate with all students regarding admissions and counselling. He got the victim’s phone number from the call centre’s database and targeted him. Police have seized two cellphones from him.”

Once arrested, the accused revealed to the cops that he was inspired by the antagonist, essayed by Vikrant Massey, in Pritam And Pedro and intended to use social engineering and impersonation to deceive the victim.

SCOOP: Shah Rukh Khan saw Dhurandhar The Revenge a day before release at Salman Khan’s preview theatre

Yesterday, Shah Rukh Khan conducted an ‘Ask SRK’ session after nearly 10 ½ months, and it left the X users excited. As always, the superstar gave witty replies, and this time he also shared updates about his much-awaited next, King. That’s not all. A fan asked whether he had seen Dhurandhar. To which Shah Rukh Khan replied, “Loved both the parts....fantastic by the whole team!!!”

Bollywood Hungama enquired from a source from the actor's team on this and he said, “Shah Rukh Khan saw Dhurandhar The Revenge a day before the release, that is, before the whole world. He asked director Aditya Dhar to arrange for the screening and the writer-director-producer gladly did it for him.”

The source further said, “The screening took place at a preview theatre owned by Salman Khan. Shah Rukh attended the screening with his whole family. Karan Johar also joined him.” However, the source had no idea whether Salman also joined the fellow star and KJo for the screening of Dhurandhar The Revenge.

Incidentally, this is the same preview theatre where Salman Khan showed a rough cut of his upcoming film, Maatrubhumi, to prominent people in the industry like Subhash Ghai, David Dhawan, Sooraj Barjatya, Kabir Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Rumy Jafry, Siddharth Roy Kapur and others. Director Apoorva Lakhia and Salman’s co-star Chitrangda Singh were also present at the screening.

The source added, “After the screening, Shah Rukh Khan spoke to Aditya Dhar and communicated to him how much he enjoyed the flick. Aditya was quite touched to receive such feedback from one of the biggest stars in the country.”

Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar The Revenge starred Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and others. The film tells the story of an Indian spy who infiltrates Pakistan and a notorious gang in Lyari, Karachi. The story centres on how he gradually rises through the ranks and wreaks havoc.

EXCLUSIVE: Himesh Reshammiya reunites with Vikram Bhatt after 13 years for 1920: Cold Winter and with Sunny Deol after 19 years for Suryaa - One Man Against The System

Yesterday, we reported that Anya Singh of The Ba***ds Of Bollywood fame has joined the star cast of Vikram Bhatt’s 1920: Cold Winter. We now bring you another exciting update about the upcoming horror film.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Music composer Himesh Reshammiya has signed the film. Vikram Bhatt’s horror films are known not just for jump scares and scary visuals, but also for soulful music. 1920: Cold Winter is no exception. This time, he really wanted the music to stand out and hence, he approached Himesh. Himesh Reshammiya was too happy to join hands with Vikram after a long time and signed on the dotted line.”

1920: Cold Winter marks the fifth film of Vikram Bhatt and Himesh Reshammiya. They previously collaborated on Footpath (2003), Fear (2007), Red: The Dark Side (2007) and Dangerous Ishhq (2012).

Meanwhile, another source told us, “Vikram Bhatt has shot for many of his films in Ooty. But for 1920: Cold Winter, he’ll be filming in Mussoorie. Moreover, the shoot takes place in the winter season at the end of the year, which will be perfect as per the film’s requirement.”

Bollywood Hungama has also learned that the other film for which Himesh Reshammiya has composed is the Sunny Deol-starrer Soorya. As per sources, the film is now called Suryaa - One Man Against The System. It is produced by Kamal Mukut and co-stars Manish Wadhwa, Ravi Kishan and others. It is the remake of the Malayalam film Joseph (2018), and just like the original, the action entertainer is directed by M Padmakumar. In this film, Sunny Deol plays a retired cop who takes on the organ harvesting mafia.

This is the third time that Himesh Reshammiya has composed music for a Sunny Deol starrer. Their previous collaborations were Fool & Final (2007) and Apne (2007); both films released 19 years ago.

The source also revealed, “Himesh Reshammiya’s music label, Himesh Reshammiya Melodies, has bagged the music rights of both 1920: Cold Winter and Suryaa - One Man Against The System. The label will also release songs from other films for which Himesh is composing the music, including the Emraan Hashmi-starrer Gunmaaster G9, the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Yeh Prem Mol Liya and Anil Sharma’s Utkarsh Sharma-Arjun Rampal starrer Arjun Naga.”

About 1920: Cold Winter

1920: Cold Winter was announced a few weeks after the release and surprising box office performance of Haunted – Echoes Of The Past (2026). Like the Mimoh Chakraborty-starrer, 1920: Cold Winter is also produced by Anand Pandit. Ahan Shetty has been locked in as the male lead. Interestingly, both Ahan Shetty and Anya Singh also shared screen space in this year’s super-hit war film, Border 2. While Ahan played the role of Lt Cdr Mahendra Singh Rawat, Anya was seen as his wife, Sudha Rawat. Hence, 1920: Cold Winter marks the second film in which Ahan Shetty and Anya Singh will be paired opposite each other.

Sooraj Pancholi DENIES link to Disha Salian death case after CBI FIR names him alongside Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty: “Very unfair and extremely upsetting”

Actor Sooraj Pancholi has addressed the renewed attention around his name following the Central Bureau of Investigation’s FIR in the death case of celebrity manager Disha Salian. The actor has denied ever meeting Salian or Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and said he is willing to cooperate with the investigation if required.

The CBI registered an FIR on September 14 in connection with Salian’s June 2020 death after the Bombay High Court directed the agency to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case. The development has once again brought several names associated with allegations and speculation around the case into focus. However, the High Court had directed the CBI to conduct the probe without naming anyone as an accused at that stage.

According to reports citing advocate Nilesh Ojha, who represents Salian’s father Satish Salian, the FIR contains the names of several individuals, including Sooraj Pancholi, Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty and Dino Morea. The reported inclusion of a name in an FIR does not by itself establish guilt or wrongdoing, and the investigation is ongoing. Sooraj Pancholi says he has never met Disha Salian Amid the renewed discussion, Pancholi took to social media late on September 14 to put out a detailed statement about his alleged connection to the case. He said his name has been repeatedly linked to the matter through media reports and statements despite, according to him, there being no connection between him and Salian.

“I have decided to put this out because I feel it is important to put certain facts clearly in the public domain. For the last few years, my name has been dragged into the controversy surrounding the unfortunate demise of late Disha Salian through various media reports and statements. I want to say this out loud and very clear. I have never met late Disha Salian in my life, directly or indirectly. I have also never met Aaditya Thackeray in my life!” he wrote.

Pancholi said he found it unfair that his name continued to be associated with the case and claimed there was no evidence connecting him to the matter. “It is honestly very unfair and extremely upsetting to see my name being dragged into something that I have absolutely nothing to do with, especially when there is no evidence or proof connecting me to this matter,” he added. Actor says he is willing to cooperate with CBI Pancholi also addressed his previous interactions with investigating agencies. According to the actor, he was questioned by the CBI and police several years ago and his statement was recorded during the earlier investigation. “Regarding this matter, I have already been investigated by the CBI/police and my statement was recorded by the agencies almost 4-5 years ago. I have nothing to hide,” he said.

The actor further stated that he would cooperate if the investigating agency requires additional information from him. “If any investigating agency feels that they need to question me again or require any further information from me, I am completely willing to cooperate and make myself available for any investigation,” Pancholi wrote.

The CBI’s latest probe follows the Bombay High Court’s September 2 order directing the agency to investigate Salian’s death. The court had said the investigation should cover all aspects surrounding the circumstances in which she lost her life. Sooraj Pancholi urges people not to treat speculation as fact Pancholi also spoke about the role of media reports and social media discussions in shaping public opinion around the case. He urged people to distinguish between allegations, statements and established facts.

“I strongly support a fair and thorough CBI investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate demise of late Disha Salian,” he wrote. “At the same time, I also believe that there should be an investigation into the malicious propaganda and false narratives being created around this unfortunate incident because someone’s death should never become a reason to destroy another person’s reputation without evidence.”

He further appealed to people to verify information before forming opinions. “And to everyone who is reading this, please don’t believe everything you see on the News or on social media! A headline is not evidence. A debate is not evidence. Someone saying something on television does not make it a fact. Please verify things before forming an opinion about someone’s life and character,” Pancholi said.

The actor concluded his statement by reiterating that he has faith in the legal process and the investigating agencies. “I have faith in the law. I have faith in the investigating agencies. And I have faith that ultimately, the truth will come out. Let the fact speak. Let the investigation speak. Let the truth speak. Jai Hind.”

The actor captioned his post, “Please read because I’m sure the media won’t cover this!”

EXCLUSIVE: Anya Singh bags Vikram Bhatt’s 1920: Cold Winter; reunites with Ahan Shetty after Border 2

A couple of weeks after the release and surprising box office performance of Haunted – Echoes Of The Past, director Vikram Bhatt and producer Anand Pandit announced that they would join hands for 1920: Cold Winter. A month later, in July 2026, it was reported that Ahan Shetty has signed the horror flick. And now, Bollywood Hungama has come across an interesting information about the film.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Anya Singh, who became widely known after The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, has come on board as the female lead of the film. The makers were impressed by Anya’s screen presence and talent, and felt that she would be apt for the part. Anya is also excited as she has never attempted horror before in Bollywood.”

As per reports, 1920: Cold Winter will go on floors in November this year. It will be the sixth film in the 1920 franchise. The series began with 1920 in 2008. It was directed by Vikram Bhatt and launched Adah Sharma and Rajniesh Duggal. While 1920 was average, the next film, 1920: Evil Returns (2012), was a semi-hit. It starred Aftab Shivdasani and Tia Bajpai and was directed by Bhushan Patel. 1920 London (2016), meanwhile, was directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and featured Sharman Joshi and Meera Chopra. Vikram Bhatt was involved with the second and third parts as writer and producer.

1921 (2018) was produced, written and directed by Vikram and it featured Zareen Khan and Karan Kundrra. While 1920 London flopped at the box office, 1921 was an average grosser.

1920: Horrors Of The Heart (2023) was also directed by Vikram Bhatt and it was his first association with producer Anand Pandit. Starring Avika Gor and Danish Pandor, the horror flick performed decently at the box office.

Sayani Gupta’s Aasmani cleared of copyright infringement allegations by SWA

Sayani Gupta’s directorial debut Aasmani has been cleared of copyright infringement allegations by the Screenwriters Association’s (SWA) Dispute Settlement Committee (DSC). The complaint had been filed against Gupta and editor Paramita Ghosh, alleging similarities between the short film Aasmani and Prabha, an unfinished documentary.

After examining the submissions from both sides and carrying out independent expert comparisons, the DSC observed that the two works shared only an underlying idea. According to the committee, the storytelling, character development, conflict and overall story arc were different in the two works.

The DSC further noted that copyright law protects the expression of an idea rather than the idea itself. It also took into account that the complainant’s work is a documentary based on the publicly known life of a real person.

The committee also referred to a separate defamation suit filed by Gupta against the complainant. The court has reportedly passed an order favourable to Gupta in that matter. Since certain issues involved in the defamation proceedings overlap with those raised in the DSC complaint, the matter is now sub judice, which prevents the DSC from proceeding with further adjudication.

Accordingly, the SWA proceedings have been concluded and the complaint has been closed at its end, without prejudice to the legal rights and remedies available to either party.

The development comes as Aasmani continues its international festival journey. The copyright complaint had emerged during the film’s festival run, and the closure of the proceedings brings the dispute before the SWA to an end.

Reacting to the development, Gupta said, “As I had said earlier, truth will always prevail. I had respected the process and grateful that the truth has come out. It always does. This has been the most harrowing experience of my life. But as my grandmother would often quote Tagore and say 'tomar potaka jaare dao, bohibare dao shokoti'.. ‘whoever you give your flag to bear, you also give them the strength to bear it.’”

IMPPA issues clarification over ‘incorrect’ interpretation of Bombay High Court order

The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has issued a clarification regarding what it described as incorrect interpretations of a recent order passed by the Bombay High Court in connection with a dispute between Saffron Magicworks Private Limited (owned by Nikhil Dwivedi) and Andolan Films Private Limited (owned by Vikramaditya Motwane). IMPPA has also been impleaded in the proceedings.

According to the association, certain communications and news reports currently in circulation have presented an inaccurate understanding of the scope and effect of the High Court’s order. IMPPA stated that its involvement in the matter was limited to carrying out its institutional responsibilities under its Memorandum and Articles of Association.

The association explained that the dispute between Saffron Magicworks Private Limited and Andolan Films Private Limited had been placed before IMPPA’s Dispute Resolution Committee. Any determination or direction issued by the committee, it clarified, was related to the parties involved in the dispute and the specific issues that had been brought before it.

IMPPA further stressed that it has no independent commercial claim or interest in the underlying dispute between the two companies. The association also urged that the High Court’s order should be understood strictly on the basis of its express terms.

Addressing reports suggesting restrictions on its functioning, IMPPA clarified, “No blanket restraining order has been passed against IMPPA restraining the discharge of its institutional functions.” The association said that some reports presently being circulated do not accurately reflect the order’s scope or its implications for IMPPA.

IMPPA also stated that it does not accept any characterization of the court order that goes beyond what has been expressly stated by the High Court. The association maintained that it will continue to carry out its responsibilities in accordance with applicable law, its governing framework and the directions issued by the court.

The clarification comes amid reports and communications surrounding the legal dispute involving Saffron Magicworks and Andolan Films. Through its statement, IMPPA has sought to distinguish its institutional role from the commercial dispute between the two parties and clarify the extent of the court’s directions concerning the association.
