EXCLUSIVE: Vikram Bhatt reveals why Haunted - Ghosts Of The Past was renamed as Haunted - Echoes Of The Past: "You can't make a ghost film without believing in superstition"

Vikram Bhatt struck gold with Haunted 3D (2011). It’s a film that kick-started the 3D trend in Bollywood and became a sleeper hit at the box office. Hence, there are high expectations for the next film in this franchise, which is set to release on June 12. Interestingly, the film was earlier titled Haunted – Ghosts Of The Past. As per the motion poster that dropped yesterday to announce the release date, the film was renamed to Haunted – Echoes Of The Past. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to director Vikram Bhatt about this aspect. This was probably the director’s first interaction with the media after he faced a major personal turmoil in his life.

Vikram Bhatt told Bollywood Hungama, “The Haunted films are not just about ghosts. At its heart, it’s a poignant love story. Meanwhile, the film was getting delayed for some reason or another and also, I had to face incarceration. A very close friend of mine said that this is probably happening due to the word ‘Ghost’ in the title. He told me, ‘Title mein se Ghost ko hata do’. I told him, ‘Theek hai. Hata dete hai (smiles)’. That’s how we came up with Echoes Of The Past.”

He further remarked, “I never believed in such things until now. Also, you can’t make a ghost film without believing in superstition (laughs).”

The use of AI in the motion poster was criticized by a section of the audience. Vikram Bhatt clarified, “This is how motion posters are designed. But I can assure you that there’s absolutely no AI in the film at all.”

Lastly, when asked when the teaser of Haunted – Echoes Of The Past will be out, he revealed, “We plan to release it this month itself.”

Like Haunted, Haunted – Echoes Of The Past also stars Mimoh Chakraborty and this time, he’s joined by Chetna Pande, Shruti Prakash, Gaurav Bajpai, Praneet Bhatt and Hemant Pandey. It is produced by Anand Pandit and Rakesh Juneja and will be distributed worldwide by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures.

Shraddha Kapoor joins Aamir Khan in Rahul Mody’s Ashneer Grover biopic: Report

Actor Shraddha Kapoor is reportedly set to play Madhuri Jain Grover in the upcoming biopic on BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover, which is expected to feature Aamir Khan in the lead role. Filmmaker Rahul Mody is developing the film.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Kapoor has been associated with the project since its early stages. A source told the publication that it had been decided early in development that she would play the female lead and had closely followed the screenplay’s evolution over time.

The film is reportedly based on Grover’s journey as an entrepreneur and the controversies surrounding his exit from BharatPe in 2022, when allegations surfaced that he and members of his family had misused company funds. Madhuri Jain Grover had served as the company’s Head of Controls before her termination the same year.

Mody has been working on the screenplay for nearly three years. The filmmaker previously contributed as a writer to Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018). He is also rumoured to be in a relationship with Kapoor.

Speculation about the project gained momentum recently after reports suggested that Aamir Khan is considering the Ashneer Grover biopic as his next film. Readers may recall that Bollywood Hungama exclusively reported Aamir has given a go ahead to doing Ashneer Grover biopic. Earlier, sources told us, "Aamir has read it and loved it; he is doing this film. It's in the pre-production stage. It's also very relatable as Ashneer is an extremely popular figure with today's audience."

At the same time, an official announcement from the makers is still awaited.

Ahead of Maa Behen, Suresh Triveni’s mother-daughter drama Razaa headed to NYIFF

Filmmaker Suresh Triveni, who is gearing up for his upcoming film Maa Behen and is known for his acclaimed work on Tumhari Sulu and Subedaar, is now backing the short film Razaa. Directed by Pooja Tolani and produced by Radhika Sawhney alongside Triveni, the film unfolds within the tense confines of a gynaecologist’s waiting room, where a mother and daughter grapple with a life-altering decision.

With Razaa earning a nomination at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), the film has further cemented its place on the global stage, something that aligns with Suresh Triveni’s consistent eye for meaningful storytelling. The film has enjoyed an impressive festival run with multiple international selections and wins, including recognition at prestigious platforms such as the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, Tasveer Film Festival, IDSFFK, and many more. The film has also picked up wins at the Yellowstone International Film Festival, further cementing its impact on the global stage.

Reinforcing his belief in strong, content-driven cinema, Suresh Triveni shared, “The first time I heard the film from Pooja, I was very sure I wanted to make it. I spoke to my producer partner Radhika, and we decided to produce it. It’s the second short film I have produced, and I’ll keep doing it till I can. Pooja being a writer too helps the film. We are very proud to be attached to the film. The accolades keep pouring, and the nomination at the New York Indian Film Festival has only made us prouder.”

Producer Radhika Sawhney echoed the sentiment, saying, “When Pooja narrated the script, I had no second thoughts. Women taking agency of their lives is a topic I feel very strongly about. Pooja is a very fine writer, and it was great to support her in bringing her story to life. Having Geetanjali Kulkarni was the icing on the cake. All the actors, in fact, brought such inspired performances to the film. While producing the film, we had to make sure we stayed authentic to the world of Razaa. There was much effort in choosing the cast, the locations, the art, and the visual tone of the film. Even the sound design was chosen with a lot of intent. I am very proud of Razaa and happy to be part of NYIFF.”

At its core, Razaa thrives on emotional contrast – Razaa’s striking detachment versus Sabeen’s deeply rooted fear and moral conflict. As tempers flare and silences stretch, the film dives into layered conversations around choice, control, and generational expectations.

Director Pooja Tolani offered insight into this dynamic, saying, “Mother-daughter relationships are often seen as loving and tender, but I find them deeply complex, caught between visceral love and constant judgement. Many mothers express love by telling their daughters what is right, as a way of protecting them. In that process, daughters inherit a deep sense of morality. For me, Razaa and Sabeen share a very real dynamic, where love is rarely expressed, but displeasure almost always is.”

Sooraj Barjatya & Mahaveer Jain to unveil title and release date of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari starrer

In what is being described as one of Hindi cinema's most eagerly awaited announcements of the year, veteran filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya and Mahaveer Jain are set to reveal the title and release date of his upcoming film today a project that has been shrouded in deliberate, masterful secrecy for months.

The film, produced jointly by Rajshri Productions the house that Barjatya built into a byword for wholesome Indian storytelling and Mahaveer Jain, is understood to be a sweeping family entertainer, a genre the director has elevated and made entirely his own across a career spanning three decades.

Gaurav Gera praises Ranveer Singh's discipline and on-set involvement in Dhurandhar: The Revenge

Actor Gaurav Gera has spoken about his experience of working with Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, highlighting the latter’s approach to performance and presence on set.

In a recent interaction with India Today, Gera described Ranveer as someone deeply invested in his work. “Ranveer is a superstar for a reason, he is so good at what he does. He’s extremely organised and fully immersed in the character. He takes a keen interest,” he said, pointing to the actor’s focused preparation.

He also spoke about Ranveer’s involvement during scenes, even when he wasn’t required to be actively present. “He didn’t have to be there for cues in my scenes, which often happens on shoots. But he stayed back and remained present throughout. That’s just how he is—completely involved with the film,” Gera added.

Recalling a lighter moment, Gera mentioned their earlier ‘Chutki-shopkeeper’ act that recently resurfaced online amid the film’s buzz. He shared that Ranveer instantly recognised him on set. “He tapped my shoulder and said, ‘How are you, Chutki?’ I was surprised because I had a beard and looked quite different, but he still remembered,” he said.

Gera also noted a shift in Ranveer’s on-screen approach over time, especially while playing Hamza in the film. “He’s grown a lot as an actor. There’s a certain calmness in his performance here, which is very different from how people usually see him in public. That controlled energy comes across very strongly,” he explained.

Summing up, Gera described Ranveer as someone who can balance contrasting energies with ease, both on and off screen. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has completed a steady run in theatres and continues to hold its ground at the box office.

Jio Studios and Collective Studios’ Historyverse unveil teaser of Krishna at NAB 2026 in Las Vegas

Jio Studios and Collective Studios’ Historyverse today unveiled the global first teaser of Krishna, an upcoming theatrical feature directed by Manu Anand, at the NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas. At the heart of Krishna lies a new cinematic pipeline developed by Galleri5, Collective Artists Network’s in-house AI platform, built on Microsoft Azure’s advanced AI and cloud capabilities. This collaboration brings together cutting-edge technology with Jio Studios’ scale, storytelling expertise, and commitment to creating globally resonant Indian content.

The film’s first look and Collective Artists Network’s AI platform were featured in Microsoft’s keynote at NAB, “Powering Intelligent Media; From AI Experimentation to Real-World Impact.” Collective was highlighted as a leading Frontier organization that is moving AI beyond experimentation into real, production-scale deployment in cinema. The technology is also featured in Microsoft’s NAB booth (West Hall, Booth W1731).

Krishna represents a departure from traditional VFX- or animation-led filmmaking. Instead, it is built on an AI-native production pipeline where technology is integrated into the core of the filmmaking process, from world-building and character systems to shot design and final output, while remaining guided by a director-led, cinematic approach to storytelling.

Even as the film explores scale and spectacle, there is a conscious emphasis on emotional authenticity, stillness, music, and performance, ensuring the story is felt as much as it is seen.

Powered by Galleri5’s proprietary workflows, the pipeline allows filmmakers to create large-format, theatrical content rooted in Indian history and culture, while expanding the boundaries of how films can be conceived and produced. Collective Artists Network runs its Galleri5 platform natively on Microsoft Azure, using Microsoft Foundry and advanced AI infrastructure to support end-to-end, production grade workflows across film, episodic, and advertising content. By operating in a secure, enterprise cloud environment, Galleri5 puts the power back in the hands of creators, allowing filmmakers to use AI in a way that meets their needs

Jyoti Deshpande, President – Jio Studios (Media & Content Business, Reliance Industries) said, “At Jio Studios, our endeavor has always been to take Indian stories to the world with scale, ambition, and authenticity. With Krishna, we are not only embracing cutting-edge AI-led filmmaking but also advancing our commitment to future-forward storytelling powered by world-class technology being built in India. At the same time, we see this as an opportunity to democratize these powerful tools making them more accessible, intuitive, and cost-effective for storytellers. Our focus is to empower creators to fully realize their vision, amplify diverse creative voices, and craft stories that connect emotionally with audiences.”

Speaking at the showcase, Vijay Subramaniam, Founder & Group CEO, Collective Artists Network, said, “Krishna is not just about rethinking how films are built, but also about where these stories can go. We’re using technology being developed here in India to take our culture and history to a global audience, at a scale that wasn’t possible earlier. For us, this is a long-term priority, building stories that are rooted in who we are, but can travel anywhere in the world.”

“The media industry has reached a clear inflection point, where AI is no longer about experimentation, but about delivering real impact at production scale for creators. Through this collaboration, Microsoft is helping Collective Artists Network enable the end-to-end flow of production outcomes, transform the creative process, and enhance process efficiencies,” said Silvia Candiani, Vice President, Telco, Media & Entertainment, Gaming, Microsoft. “By building AInative creative systems on Microsoft Azure, Collective exemplifies how storytellers can unlock new formats, move faster, and realize a true return on intelligence, while keeping human creativity at the center.”

Krishna is part of Historyverse, Collective Studios’ growing slate of history and culture-driven IPs. Positioned as one of India’s most ambitious mythology-led slates, it draws from figures and traditions that have shaped the subcontinent over centuries, spanning stories inspired by Kali, Karna, and Durga to name a few. The already released Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh series serves as the starting point for Historyverse’s larger vision, demonstrating how historically rooted narratives can be approached for modern screens.

Jio Studios, the media and content arm of Reliance Industries Limited, is a market leader and India’s No.1 content studio, delivering some of the biggest cinematic successes in Indian cinema. Led by the blockbuster Dhurandhar franchise, including Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar The Revenge, the studio has set new global benchmarks, with the duology grossing over $330 million USD (Rs. 3,000 crores) worldwide and securing a place among the top 10 highest-grossing films globally in 2026.

Jio Studios also holds the distinction of producing the highest-grossing Hindi films in India for three consecutive years—Stree 2 (2024), Dhurandhar (2025), and Dhurandhar The Revenge (2026). Its diverse slate includes genre-defining hits and acclaimed titles like Laapataa Ladies, India’s official entry to Oscars 2025, Stree, Article 370, Shaitaan, Mrs. etc. In just eight years, it has built a formidable library of 160+ films and series, with over 60 titles winning 500+ awards. Guided by its ‘Make in India, Show the World’ vision, Jio Studios remains committed to empowering storytellers and taking compelling Indian narratives to global audiences through world-class, platform-agnostic entertainment.

The unveiling at NAB marks a significant milestone for Jio Studios and Collective Studios as they continue to explore how technology can expand the scope of storytelling, bringing together talent, content, and innovation to shape the future of cinema.

As Dhurandhar revives Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's magic, here's how his ICONIC creation featured in Sunny Deol and Shah Rukh Khan-starrers just 9 months apart

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is back in sharp focus for Hindi film audiences, thanks to Dhurandhar The Revenge. The recently released film has revived not one but two compositions associated with the legendary singer – ‘Jaan Se Guzarte Hain’ and ‘Man Atkeya Beparwah De Naal’, making Nusrat saab’s timeless sound a talking point all over again. It has once again reminded audiences of the emotional power and spiritual pull that only Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s music could carry.

Interestingly, this renewed fascination also takes one back to an important chapter in Bollywood’s long relationship with Nusrat saab’s music. On April 18, 2026, Koyla completes 29 years, having originally been released on April 18, 1997. The Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit starrer featured the unforgettable ‘Saanson Ki Mala’, a film adaptation that brought Nusrat saab’s immortal composition into a dramatic mainstream Bollywood setting. Even today, the song remains one of the most haunting and distinctive musical moments in the film’s album.

What makes this even more fascinating is that Koyla wasn’t the first major Hindi film to tap into the magic of ‘Saanson Ki Mala’. 9 months earlier, the same composition had also been used in Jeet (1996), the Sunny Deol-Karisma Kapoor-Salman Khan starrer. In other words, before Shah Rukh Khan’s Koyla turned it into a widely remembered cinematic moment for an entire generation, the song had already made its way into a major Bollywood film vehicle led by Sunny Deol.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan already had a fan base in India and it became bigger with the song 'Afreen Afreen' from the album Sangam in 1996. He composed songs for two films – Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997) and Kachchhe Dhaage (1999), while also singing the cult track 'Dulhe Ka Sehra' from Dhadkan (2000).

As was the trend at that time, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was never credited for the recreations in Jeet or Koyla. Interestingly, ‘Saanson Ki Mala’ was recreated for the third time, in Yaariyan 2 (2023). This time, the legendary musician was duly credited.

EXCLUSIVE: Sunny Deol-starrer Gabru postponed; won’t release on May 8

Sunny Deol's stardom went on another level with the blockbuster success of Gadar 2 (2023). His next, Jaat (2025), also had a decent trend at the box office, proving that the success of Gadar 2 was not a fluke. The veteran star began 2026 on a rocking note with the Rs. 300 crore plus grosser, Border 2. As a result, expectations are tremendous for his next film, Gabru. The film was scheduled for release on May 8 and fans will have to wait a little more to experience the emotional drama as it has been pushed further ahead.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Gabru has been postponed and won’t arrive in cinemas on May 8. The makers plan to lock the new release date in a few days, after which they’ll make an official announcement.”

Earlier, Gabru was supposed to release on March 13 and was postponed to May 8, possibly because the holy month of Ramzan was going on and moreover, the much-awaited film, Dhurandhar The Revenge, was to arrive in cinemas 6 days later, on March 19.

Gabru is directed by Shashank Udapurkar and produced by Vishal Rana. In November 2025, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to break the news that Salman Khan has an entertaining and extended cameo. At that time, a source told us, “There was a requirement of a star and the makers knew that Salman Khan fit the bill completely. Salman was approached and he loved the part and its contribution to the film. He quietly shot the film more than a year ago and it has shaped up well. His cameo in Gabru is all heart. It is adorable and also highly entertaining. He has 3 scenes in total and hence, it’s an extended special appearance.”

Meanwhile, the May 8 slot is taken up by Aakhri Sawal and Dadi Ki Shaadi. The former stars Sanjay Dutt, Neetu Chandra, Namashi Chakraborty, Amit Sadh, Sameera Reddy and Tridha Choudhury while the former features Kapil Sharma, Neetu Kapoor and Sadia Khateeb.

It now remains to be seen when Gabru arrives in cinemas, as several significant mid-sized and big films are up for release from June to August. August will also see the release of Sunny Deol’s another much-awaited film, Lahore 1947. It is produced by Aamir Khan and is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Sunny’s other confirmed release in 2026 is Ramayana. It’ll release on Diwali and will present the actor as Lord Hanuman.

Patralekhaa slams body shaming after Toaster screening; says “I have just given birth”

Actor Patralekhaa has strongly responded to body-shaming comments that surfaced after her recent appearance at a screening of Toaster. The actress, who has been receiving praise for her recent work and growing production ventures, took to social media to call out insensitive remarks made about her physical appearance and to remind people about the realities of postpartum recovery.

Patralekhaa recently starred in Phule, where she essayed the role of Savitribai Phule. Her performance earned appreciation from critics and audiences alike, with the actress also receiving multiple accolades for the role. Alongside her acting commitments, she has also stepped into production. Her banner recently made its debut with Toaster, which released on Netflix and has been garnering positive responses.

However, during a recent public appearance linked to the film, some online pages focused on her body rather than her work, prompting the actress to issue a candid response on Instagram Stories. Addressing the trolling directly, Patralekhaa wrote, “Pap pages! What's happened to me!? is that I have just given birth! Yes I have gained the weight, which seems like an unnatural phenomenon to you all. I have not sat and eaten a mountain, I just delivered a baby and produced two films simultaneously which are not easy jobs. If I could I would not be this way. But that's how my body has reacted to pregnancy. For God's sake please learn to be a little kind.”

Her statement quickly drew attention online, with many users praising her honesty and calling for greater sensitivity around postpartum changes and women’s health. The actress’ message also highlighted the pressure public figures often face regarding appearance, particularly after childbirth.

Patralekhaa and actor Rajkummar Rao, who were together for over a decade before marriage, tied the knot on November 15, 2021, in an intimate ceremony at The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort in Chandigarh. In July 2025, the couple announced they were expecting their first child through a joint social media post that read, “Baby on the way.”

Later that year, on their fourth wedding anniversary, November 15, 2025, the couple welcomed their daughter. They subsequently revealed her name as Parvati Paul Rao and shared their joy with fans and well-wishers.

Patralekhaa’s recent note has reignited an important conversation around unrealistic beauty standards and the scrutiny women often face after pregnancy. By speaking openly about her own experience, the actress has once again reminded people that recovery after childbirth is deeply personal and deserves empathy rather than judgment.

Kartik Aaryan to team up with Reema Kagti for new Namah Pictures project? Here’s what we know!

Kartik Aaryan is in early discussions to collaborate with Reema Kagti on a new film backed by Namah Pictures. The project is currently at a very initial stage of development. Other details about the film are being kept under wraps. A report by Variety speculates that Kartik has not yet given his final approval. However, he remains the leading contender for the role at this stage.

The possible collaboration stands out because of the different creative spaces associated with the actor and the filmmaker. Reema Kagti is known for directing projects such as Talaash, Gold, Dahaad and Superboys of Malegaon.

The report further suggests that Kartik is exploring roles that expand his screen image and allow him to take on different kinds of characters. The proposed film with Kagti could become a distinctive addition to his lineup if confirmed.

Namah Pictures developing multiple projects

The Reema Kagti project is one of three films currently being developed by Namah Pictures for the coming year. The banner, led by Shareen Mantri Kedia and Kishor Arora, has also signed directors Vishal Devrukhkar and Dnyanesh Zoting for two separate projects. Namah Pictures has earlier produced films such as Beyond the Clouds, Anandi Gopal, Lost and Satyaprem Ki Katha.

The production house is also preparing for the release of its upcoming web series Phoolan, based on the life of Phoolan Devi. The series will premiere on Prime Video later this year.

The story focuses on a key chapter in Phoolan Devi’s life during a prolonged armed siege and explores her resistance within a deeply unequal social structure.

Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film lineup

Kartik Aaryan currently has several projects in different stages of development. He is set to appear next in a musical romance directed by Anurag Basu alongside Sreeleela. He also has Naagzilla, directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, scheduled for release around Valentine’s Day weekend next year.

His lineup also includes a sports drama directed by Kabir Khan and the action thriller Captain India directed by Shimit Amin. Apart from these, he is also reported to be in talks for upcoming films with Luv Ranjan and Aanand L. Rai. Another installment of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise is also in development, with Anees Bazmee expected to return as director, with production planned for mid-2027.

Bombay High Court urges amicable settlement in Aditya Dhar-Santosh Kumar dispute over Dhurandhar The Revenge script

The Bombay High Court on Thursday indicated that the defamation suit filed by writer-director Aditya Dhar against Santosh Kumar over plagiarism allegations related to Dhurandhar 2 – The Revenge should not escalate further. Justice Arif Doctor suggested that both sides try to resolve the matter amicably.

The court observed that disputes of this nature can often be resolved without escalating into extended defamation litigation. Court advises restraint in public allegations The case began after Santosh Kumar publicly claimed that the script of the sequel was copied from his earlier work. Aditya Dhar denied the allegation and called the claims defamatory. He then approached the High Court seeking relief.

During the hearing, Justice Doctor said that if Kumar believes his intellectual property was copied, he is free to pursue civil remedies through proper legal channels. However, the court made it clear that such concerns should not be raised through public statements in the media.

The court also noted that disagreements over authorship can be addressed through structured legal procedures rather than public exchanges. Counsel clarifies position on authorship claim Kumar’s advocate told the court that his client’s grievance was limited to asserting authorship of the story. The court acknowledged that Kumar is entitled to make such a claim. At the same time, it stressed that any such assertion must be pursued legally.

Senior Advocate Birendra Saraf, appearing for Dhar, argued that allegations of plagiarism should not be repeated publicly and must be handled through the appropriate legal process. Kumar’s counsel informed the court that he would seek instructions from his client regarding the suggestion to restrict the matter to legal remedies.

Earlier, on April 8, the High Court had restrained Santosh Kumar from repeating the allegedly defamatory statements about the script. Dhar had moved the court seeking an injunction and damages after Kumar allegedly failed to respond to a legal notice that rejected the plagiarism claims.

Several single-screen cinemas yet to open bookings for Bhooth Bangla from April 17 due to show-sharing dispute with Dhurandhar The Revenge

The horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla was scheduled for release on April 10, but it was pushed by a week after it failed to secure the desired number of shows amid the Dhurandhar The Revenge wave. The makers, as well as the industry at large, hoped that with Bhooth Bangla releasing on April 17, there would be no issues with regard to showcasing. However, that’s not the case. Less than 24 hours remains for the release and yet, most of the single screens are yet to commence bookings.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Jio Studios has requested that Dhurandhar The Revenge be allotted 50% showcasing in single screens. Their argument is that the film continues to perform well and still has a lot of gas left in the tank. The fact that it collected Rs. 6.50 crores on Tuesday has further strengthened their case for retaining shows. On the other hand, Bhooth Bangla’s distribution team has requested full showcasing. They believe that Dhurandhar The Revenge has already enjoyed a dream run for four weeks and that it is now time for their film to get its fair share of shows. Moreover, they have cited ticket sales for the paid previews and the overall advance booking trends to argue that Bhooth Bangla, too, has the potential to succeed, as there is clearly demand for it.”

Bhooth Bangla will have paid previews from tonight, Thursday, April 16. The source added, “Single-screen cinemas have been permitted to host one night show of Bhooth Bangla as part of the paid previews. However, due to the ongoing showcasing dispute, they are yet to open bookings for Friday, April 17.”

As of 8:00 am on April 16, several single-screen cinemas in Mumbai, including Inox Dadar, Citylight, Plaza, Chitra, New Excelsior, MovieTime Star City, Roxy, MovieTime Dahisar, Maratha Mandir, Mukta A2 Orion Santacruz, Gold Cinemas (Dadar, Thane, Santacruz and Borivali), PVR Le Reve, MovieMax Andheri, Bharatmata, MovieTime Suburbia and Anand Thane, are yet to commence advance booking for Bhooth Bangla for April 17. Even certain two-screen cinemas like Mukta A2 Jai Hind Lalbaug, Sun City, Topiwala Goregaon and Ajanta CineX have not yet started selling tickets for Friday.

The issue is not limited to Mumbai. In other cities, too, the issue persists. Delhi’s Delite and Liberty, as well as Jaipur’s iconic Raj Mandir, have also not yet opened bookings for Bhooth Bangla from April 17.

Ranbir Kapoor makes history as only Bollywood star on TIME 100 list

In a major global milestone, Ranbir Kapoor has been named among TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people, becoming the only Bollywood actor to feature on this year’s prestigious list. The recognition places him alongside global icons across industries, further cementing his growing international impact.

The superstar, last seen in Animal, continues to balance a thriving career with his personal life, embracing fatherhood with daughter Raha. While his on-screen choices have consistently drawn attention, this latest honour highlights his influence beyond the box office, particularly in shaping contemporary storytelling in Indian cinema.

Adding a special touch to this achievement, actor Ayushmann Khurrana penned the biographical note for Kapoor in the magazine. Reflecting on his craft and impact, Khurrana wrote, “There are actors who chase legacy and there are actors who become one through their craft. Ranbir Kapoor is the latter. In an industry as prolific and passionate as Indian cinema, we often measure greatness in decibels—box-office numbers, fan frenzy, opening weekends. But every once in a while, an actor shifts something quieter yet far more enduring: our emotional vocabulary as an audience”.

“Ranbir has been doing that film after film. In a world where performances are often amplified, Ranbir internalizes. He shows our culture through quiet restraint. He represents the India that is finally learning how to listen to itself and leaves a mark through simple authenticity. Globally, actors like Ranbir become important cultural bridges. He embodies an India that is evolving not just in scale but also in sensitivity”, the note on the website further read.

Khurrana went on to write, “Our cinema is influencing the world. Ranbir isn’t just a movie star—he’s a storyteller talking to a global audience and telling them stories of a fabled, mythical country where epics like The Ramayana have inspired other civilizations and cultures”.

On the professional front, Kapoor has an exciting slate ahead. He is set to headline Ramayana, a two-part epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari, which boasts a massive ensemble cast. Additionally, he will reunite with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Love & War, marking their collaboration after his debut film in 2007.

The TIME 100 list also features other notable Indian names, including chef Vikas Khanna and Sundar Pichai, reflecting India’s growing global influence across diverse fields.

With this recognition, Ranbir Kapoor not only reinforces his standing as one of Bollywood’s most nuanced performers but also emerges as a significant cultural voice representing Indian cinema on the world stage.

Assi set for digital premiere on ZEE5 on April 17 after theatrical run

After sparking conversation and earning critical acclaim during its theatrical run, Assi is set for its digital premiere on Hindi ZEE5 on 17th April. Directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Benaras Media Works and T-Series Films, Assi features a powerful ensemble cast including Taapsee Pannu, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, and Seema Pahwa.

A hard-hitting courtroom drama, Assi follows a lawyer (Taapsee Pannu) who takes on a brutal rape case, confronting not just the crime but the systemic apathy surrounding it. In a striking moment, the film underscores a grim reality—nearly 80 rape cases reported in a single day—amplifying the urgency of its narrative. It traces the journey of a survivor and her partner (Kani Kusruti and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), whose lives are shattered by violence, as they navigate trauma, societal judgment, and an unforgiving legal system. Anchored in the reality of rising sexual violence and delayed justice, Assi shines a light on the emotional and social aftermath often left unspoken.

Raw and unflinching, the film goes beyond the courtroom to explore the human cost of such crimes—the resilience it demands and the silence it challenges. Its honesty and emotional depth struck a chord with audiences in theatres, and it now aims to reach a wider global audience on ZEE5.

Kaveri Das, Business Head – Hindi ZEE5 and Chief Channel Officer, &TV, said, “Assi is the kind of film that naturally sparks quiet, difficult, yet necessary conversations. At Hindi ZEE5, we are committed to stories that invite reflection and meaningful engagement without being overtly didactic. We believe cinema can create space for such moments, leaving a lasting impact well beyond the screen”.

Director and Co-Writer Anubhav Sinha added, “Assi is not just a film, it’s a reflection of the times we live in. We wanted to tell a story that doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths, while also focusing on the resilience of the human spirit. I’m glad that with Hindi ZEE5, the film will now reach an even wider audience and get the merit it deserves”.

Taapsee Pannu shared, “Playing this character was one of the most challenging experiences for me as an actor. Assi is not an easy watch, but it’s an important one. It’s a story that needs to be told with honesty and sensitivity, and I hope audiences connect with its intent and message as it reaches them on Hindi ZEE5”.

With its gripping narrative and powerful performances, Assi is a thought-provoking film that lingers long after the credits roll.

Don’t miss the digital premiere of Assi on 17th April, only on Hindi ZEE5.

52 Blue first look out: Neha Dhupia steps into raw, deglam avatar in debut international film

The first look and trailer of Neha Dhupia’s debut international film 52 Blue has been officially revealed, offering audiences a striking glimpse into one of the most transformative roles of her career. Known for her versatile performances, Neha steps into an entirely new space with this project, appearing in a raw, deglam avatar for the very first time on screen.

Directed by acclaimed Egyptian filmmaker Ali El Arabi, 52 Blue is a poignant coming-of-age story that follows a young Indian football enthusiast’s journey as a migrant worker to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The film explores themes of identity, aspiration, and resilience, set against a deeply emotional family backdrop.

The film also stars Adil Hussain, who plays Neha’s husband, marking their first on-screen collaboration. In a significant departure from her previous roles, Neha will be seen portraying the mother of a young man, bringing depth and emotional gravitas to a character that anchors the narrative.

Shot extensively in Kochi, India, 52 Blue traces the journey of Ashish (Yadav Shashidhar), a young boy growing up under the isolating control of his father on a remote island home. With the quiet strength and support of his mother, and inspired by the memory of his late brother, Ashish eventually finds the courage to break free. His journey takes him across borders as he sets out to meet his idol, Lionel Messi, at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022 - marking his first encounter with the larger world beyond his confined upbringing.

A post shared by AmbientLight Film (@ambientlightfilm)

Produced and directed by Ali El Arabi under his banner Ambient Light, based in Cairo and Los Angeles, the film is executive produced by Tariq Al-Naama, with Krysanne Katsoolis, Joe Matthews, and Katara Studios serving as co-producers.

Sharing her thoughts on the project and her character, Neha Dhupia said, “52 Blue has been one of the most deeply moving and transformative experiences of my career. When I first read the script, what stayed with me was the quiet strength of the mother she doesn’t speak loudly, but her presence shapes her son’s entire world. Playing a mother to a young man for the first time was both challenging and incredibly fulfilling, because it required me to tap into emotions that are raw, instinctive, and deeply human."

Neha further adds, "The deglam aspect of the role was never a concern for me; in fact, it was liberating. It allowed me to completely shed any layers of vanity and immerse myself fully into the life of this woman—her silences, her resilience, and her unconditional love. There’s something very powerful about portraying a character who finds strength in vulnerability."

Neha continues, "Working with Ali El Arabi has been a revelation. His storytelling is so honest and rooted, and he creates an environment where you feel completely safe to explore and push your boundaries. Shooting in Kochi, in such a unique and intimate setting, added so much authenticity to the film. At its heart, 52 Blue is a story about dreams, about breaking free, and about the invisible forces like a mother’s belief that shape who we become. I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of a film that is so universal in its emotions yet so personal in its storytelling. It’s a story that I believe will resonate with audiences across cultures and borders.”

Brahmastra 2 to move forward after Ramayana, says Namit Malhotra at CinemaCon 2026

Namit Malhotra has confirmed that Brahmāstra Part Two is moving ahead, though it will take shape after work on Ramayana is completed. The producer shared the update during the global promotional launch of the mythological epic at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, where he appeared alongside actor Yash.

The announcement has renewed interest in the planned continuation of the Astraverse, nearly four years after the first film was released in 2022 and teased a larger narrative centred on Dev and Amrita.

Speaking about the sequel’s timeline, Malhotra indicated that the next chapter of the franchise will follow once Ramayana reaches completion. Astraverse to continue after Ramayana wraps up Malhotra’s update marks one of the clearest indications yet about the future of the Astraverse since director Ayan Mukerji began hinting at further developments after the release of Brahmāstra.

The first instalment starred Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, and concluded with a reveal that set up the backstory of Dev and Amrita, laying the groundwork for the trilogy’s second part.

Speculation around the sequel had intensified in October 2025 after Mukerji shared pictures from a mountain trip. Fans noticed what appeared to be a script in his hands, along with hashtags referencing Part 2 and Om, though the filmmaker did not confirm details at the time.

Malhotra’s latest comments now suggest that development on the sequel remains part of the long-term plan. Ramayana campaign begins globally with early footage reveal At CinemaCon 2026, Malhotra and Yash launched the international promotional campaign for Ramayana by presenting early footage and material from the film. Describing the scale and ambition of the project, Malhotra said the experience of working on the film felt like an “Avatar meets Gladiator moment.”

The film features an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Yash portraying Ravana. The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. Other actors appearing in the film include Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha and Indira Krishnan.

With Ramayana positioned as a major global-scale mythological adaptation and Brahmāstra 2 expected to follow after its completion, Malhotra’s update offers the strongest indication yet that the Astraverse storyline remains in active planning.

Sonu Nigam sells agricultural land parcels worth Rs 1.95 crore in Raigad: Report

Singer Sonu Nigam has sold agricultural land parcels worth Rs 1.95 crore in Maharashtra’s Raigad district through four separate transactions registered on April 7, 2026, according to property registration records reviewed by CRE Matrix. The parcels, spread across more than 1.9 hectares of paddy fields in Mauje Savele in the Karjat region, were acquired by a mix of investors and local buyers. The cluster of transactions reflects continuing demand for agricultural land in areas within driving distance of Mumbai, where interest in agri-tourism and green energy-linked land use has been rising.

The largest transaction involved a 0.718-hectare parcel identified as Hissa No. 1B. It was purchased for Rs 75 lakhs by Anil Prabhaker Kadu, Nitin Prabhaker Kadu and Anthony Thomas George Vaz. The deal attracted a stamp duty payment of Rs 4.5 lakhs.

In another transaction, Nitin Prabhaker Kadu acquired a 0.607-hectare portion marked Hissa No. 1A for Rs 50 lakhs, with stamp duty amounting to Rs 3 lakhs. A separate 0.405-hectare parcel comprising Hissa No. 1A and 2 was jointly purchased by Anil Prabhaker Kadu and Anthony Thomas George Vaz for Rs 50 lakhs.

The fourth and smallest parcel measured 0.208 hectares and formed part of Hissa No. 1B. It was acquired by Gaurav Gautam and Nidhi Upadhyay for Rs 20 lakhs, with stamp duty of Rs 1.2 lakh paid on the transaction.

All four agreements were registered on the same day, indicating a structured sale of multiple land holdings in the locality. The Karjat belt has been attracting attention due to improving connectivity and its proximity to Mumbai, factors that continue to support interest in agricultural and second-home investments in the region.

Earlier this year, in February 2026, Sonu Nigam’s father Agam Kumar Nigam purchased a 1,197 sq m land parcel along with an existing ground-plus-one-floor residential and commercial structure at Madh Island for Rs 10 crores, according to documents accessed through Liases Foras.

The property, known as Mango Villa and located within Suchak Cooperative Housing Society Limited, includes a 2,329 sq ft IT structure across two levels and an additional 725 sq ft residential unit. The deal was registered on February 18, 2026, with stamp duty of Rs 50 lakhs and a registration fee of Rs 30,000. The sellers were Swapna Kak and Rani Doshi, also known as Rani Amar Verma.

Varun Dhawan left a mark in nationalist cinema with his sincere act in Border 2. Ever since, he has been flooded with offers in the zone of war and army films, but he is being very careful with what he picks next. With offers coming from all across the quarters – Dharma Productions, Maddock, Sajid Nadiadwala and Tips - we have exclusively learnt that Varun Dhawan is in talks with Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar for Operation Sindoor.

A reliable source told Bollywood Hungama, "Varun has been offered Operation Sindoor, and the actor has shown his interest in playing the lead. Border 2 producer Nidhi Dutta wants to expand slate with fantasy adventure franchise and air force drama: Sources

Producer Nidhi Dutta is expanding her production slate with multiple projects across genres, including a planned fantasy adventure franchise. The move comes after the release of Border 2, which featured Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan in leading roles earlier this year.

Shortly after Border 2 hit screens in January, Nidhi had confirmed that work on Border 3 is underway, continuing the legacy of the popular war drama franchise originally created by her father, filmmaker JP Dutta. However, sources indicate that the upcoming instalment is only one part of a broader expansion plan for the banner, JP Films.

In a notable shift, Nidhi is also developing a fantasy adventure franchise, marking a departure from the production house’s established focus on war and patriotic films. According to sources, “It's an ambitious franchise that will be shot across multiple locations throughout the country. Like in Border 2, Nidhi has been part of the writing process here. The casting process has begun, and the film is likely to go on floors later this year.”

At the same time, the producer continues to build on the banner’s association with armed forces narratives. Reports suggest that another project in development is a drama centred on the Indian Air Force. With the script reportedly finalised, casting for the film is currently in progress. An insider shared, “Nidhi wants to take this project on floors this year itself. This movie, along with Border 3, is aimed at expanding the producer's repertoire of films that focus on the Armed Forces.”

The diversification of projects indicates a conscious effort to balance newer genres with the studio’s established identity. While the fantasy venture introduces a different creative direction, the continuation of war-based stories ensures continuity with the legacy of Border and similar films.

On a personal note, sources also mention that this phase has been significant for Nidhi Dutta, following the arrival of her daughter, Sitara. The producer is said to view this period as an important milestone both professionally and personally, as she moves forward with multiple projects under development.

Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi undergoes major sanitising; no China mention in new version

The suspense over Salman Khan-Chitrangda Singh’s much-awaited film, Maatrubhumi, continues. The film was announced as Battle Of Galwan and was rechristened to Maatrubhumi earlier this year. The film is based on the 2020 conflict between India and China and since the relations between the two countries have improved recently, the Ministry of Defence had reservations about the film’s content. We have now learned from a trusted source that as per the directive of the Ministry, China may not be mentioned in the film.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Earlier, the film was inspired by a real event. But as per the request of the Ministry of Defence, Salman Khan and director Apoorva Lakhia reshot the film by adding a fictional spin to the story. Accordingly, he reshot nearly 40% of the film as he added some romantic scenes, backstory, etc. The makers submitted the new cut, hoping that they would get the NOC. But the Ministry still has apprehensions.”

The source added, “One of the requests to Salman Khan is that China shouldn’t be mentioned in the film. This was communicated to the makers in advance. The cut of Maatrubhumi, which was submitted earlier this month, has no mention of China.” However, only those in the core team of Maatrubhumi are aware as to how the neighbouring country has been depicted or mentioned without naming it.

It now remains to be seen how the issue gets resolved and when the film is able to be released in cinemas. Bollywood Hungama had earlier reported that Maatrubhumi might arrive on May 15. However, due to the present situation, that seems unlikely.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan is expected to start shooting for Dil Raju's next. It co-stars Nayanthara and is directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Salman also has Raj-DK’s superhero film in his kitty.

Shefali Shah teases something new with three-word post

Shefali Shah, known for her quietly powerful performances and discerning choice of roles, has long been a force in Indian cinema and OTT storytelling. From her breakout role in Satya to her widely acclaimed portrayal of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi in Delhi Crime, Shah has consistently leaned into narratives that are rooted, complex, and emotionally resonant. With films like Jalsa, Darlings, and Three of Us, she has further reinforced her position as one of the most dependable performers of her generation.

The actor has now stirred curiosity with a cryptic update on social media. In a recent Instagram post, Shefali Shah shared just three words — “new new new” — without any additional context. The brevity of the message has only amplified intrigue, with fans and industry watchers quickly reading between the lines and speculating about a potential new announcement.

A post shared by Shefali Shah (@shefalishahofficial)

Given her recent body of work and growing global visibility, the post has sparked conversations around what could be next. Many believe it could hint at a fresh OTT project, especially considering the continued success of Delhi Crime, which brought international recognition to Indian streaming content. Others are guessing it might be a film collaboration or even a new creative direction, as Shefali has also been exploring writing and storytelling beyond acting.

What makes the speculation more compelling is her track record; she rarely takes on projects for the sake of visibility, instead choosing stories that stand out for their depth and intent. This has led audiences to associate her name with quality, making even the smallest hint of something new feel significant.

Shraddha Kapoor in talks for Vicky Kaushal’s Mahavatar: Report

It has been a year since Vicky Kaushal impressed audiences with his performance in Chhaava. The film’s strong box office run left fans eager to see what he does next. One of his upcoming projects is Mahavatar, which marks his third collaboration with Maddock Films. However, the makers are still searching for the female lead opposite him.

Now, there is fresh buzz that Shraddha Kapoor has been approached for the role. According to Mid-Day, the actor is being considered as the possible leading lady in the ambitious project. A source told the publication, “Shraddha fits the brief perfectly. The team was keen on someone who brings star value and presence. Plus, the Vicky-Shraddha pairing will be fresh, and the makers are confident this combination will resonate with the audience.”

The report also stated that if things move forward as planned, director Amar Kaushik is expected to take the film on floors after June. The project is said to be one of the most ambitious films backed by Maddock Films so far.

Interestingly, this is not the first time a major name has been linked to the film. In December last year, the same publication reported that Deepika Padukone was also being considered for the role opposite Kaushal. According to the report, “The team has been looking for someone who can bring gravitas and emotional depth to the role written opposite Parashurama. Deepika fits that space perfectly. Conversations have begun, but they are still at an early stage. She is among the top names the studio has engaged with.”

If Shraddha Kapoor comes on board, it will mark another important collaboration between her and Maddock Films. She is already the face of the banner’s popular Stree franchise, which is a key part of its horror comedy universe. She is headlining the upcoming film Eetha, backed by the banner.

The film will be her fifth collaboration with Maddock Films and her first project with Vicky Kaushal, if confirmed. She is also expected to return in Stree 3. An official announcement regarding the casting of Mahavatar is still awaited. For now, the possibility of a fresh Vicky Kaushal and Shraddha Kapoor pairing has added to the curiosity around the film.

“Truth started getting labelled as propaganda”: Sandeep Reddy Vanga DEFENDS Dhurandhar duology; Aditya Dhar REACTS!

Months after the release of Dhurandhar in December 2025 and its sequel, Dhurandhar The Revenge, on March 19, 2026, the Aditya Dhar-directed duology continues to remain part of industry conversations. The latest filmmaker to weigh in on the debate surrounding the films is Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who strongly reacted to those labelling the project as propaganda.

Vanga recently attended a screening of Dhurandhar: The Revenge at Allu Arjun’s theatre in Hyderabad, along with Prabhas, who is set to headline his upcoming directorial, Spirit. After watching the film, the filmmaker took to X to share his thoughts and defend the makers.

In his post, Vanga wrote, “Writers & actors built careers on propaganda, and the industry stayed quiet like cats. Now the same clan mock Dhurandhar. You don’t get to call yourself liberal if your first instinct is to Mock. Don’t know when truth started getting labeled as propaganda...... strange times.”

He further added, “I want to tell @AdityaDharFilms & @RanveerOfficial yeh kaala drishti aise nahi jaayega... Muthi bhar ke laal mirch se kaam nahi chalega.... poora khet jalana padega / Watched #Dhurandhar2TheRevenge last night.... Outstanding film.”

Responding to the message, director Aditya Dhar shared a note of appreciation for Vanga’s support and conviction. He wrote, “Mere Pyaare Sandeep, I genuinely love the way you stand your ground and give it back when it matters. There’s a real honesty and belief in that and it’s something I truly respect. I’ve always looked up to how you back your cinema without any doubt or noise.”

Since the release of the duology, the films have triggered wider conversations about the portrayal of espionage in mainstream Hindi cinema. Many viewers on social media contrasted Dhurandhar’s grounded treatment of intelligence operations with the stylised storytelling seen in the spy universe developed by Yash Raj Films.

A section of audiences praised the duology for focusing on the challenges and personal cost of being a spy rather than spectacle-driven narratives. With filmmakers and actors continuing to speak about the project in interviews and public posts, Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar The Revenge remain firmly in the spotlight well into April 2026.

Hansika Motwani files Rs 2 crores defamation suit against sister-in-law Muskan Nancy James amid legal battle

Hansika Motwani has initiated legal action against her estranged sister-in-law Muskan Nancy James by filing a defamation suit in a Mumbai sessions court, marking the latest development in an ongoing family dispute. The actor has sought damages amounting to Rs. 2 crores, along with a formal public apology and a court directive restraining James from making further statements against her.

The plea, filed through advocate Adnan Shaikh, alleges that Muskan Nancy James made defamatory accusations on social media, including claims of domestic violence involving Hansika and her brother Prashant Motwani. According to the petition, these allegations are baseless and have caused reputational harm.

Central to the dispute is an alleged financial transaction. Hansika Motwani has claimed that Muskan borrowed Rs. 27 lakhs during her marriage to Prashant Motwani and has failed to repay the amount despite repeated follow-ups. The suit contends that the allegations may have been made to avoid repayment of this loan.

The legal conflict follows an earlier FIR lodged by Muskan Nancy James against her husband and Hansika Motwani. In her complaint, James accused them of harassment, cruelty, and interference in her marriage, along with claims related to demands made during wedding functions. She also stated that the stress from the relationship contributed to her developing Bell’s Palsy.

Responding to these accusations, Hansika has denied any involvement, maintaining that she was not part of the couple’s household and had limited interaction with their personal matters. She has consistently asserted that she cannot be held accountable for the allegations made against her.

In addition to the civil suit, Hansika Motwani has also pursued criminal defamation proceedings against Muskan Nancy James before a magistrate’s court in Andheri under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. She had earlier approached the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the FIR filed against her, with the court issuing notice on her plea.

A statement issued on her behalf emphasised that she had been wrongly implicated in the dispute and subjected to sustained defamatory coverage. It reiterated that her involvement in her brother’s marriage was minimal and that the allegations lack judicial backing.

The matter, which stems from the strained marriage between Prashant Motwani and Muskan Nancy James, is now expected to come up for hearing before the Dindoshi sessions court in due course.

Dhurandhar The Revenge faces copyright suit over alleged unauthorised use of ‘Rang De Lal’

Production banner Trimurti Films has filed a lawsuit against filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s company B62 Studios, alleging unauthorised use of the song ‘Rang De Lal’ in the film Dhurandhar The Revenge. The dispute relates to the rights to the track, which originally appeared in the 1989 film Tridev. The song was co-composed by Anand–Milind, written by Sameer Anjaan, and sung by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee.

What the lawsuit alleges According to sources familiar with the matter, Trimurti Films has claimed ownership or control over the relevant rights connected to the musical work and sound recording of ‘Rang De Lal’. The company has alleged that the song, or a version substantially similar to it, was used in the film without obtaining the necessary permissions.

The suit states that such use amounts to copyright infringement, including unauthorised reproduction and communication of the work to the public.

Trimurti Films has sought an injunction to restrain further use of the song, along with damages and related reliefs. The production house has also raised concerns about the commercial exploitation of the track through theatrical screenings, streaming platforms and promotional material linked to the film.

Dhurandhar The Revenge is a 2026 Hindi-language spy action thriller directed by Aditya Dhar. The film is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios and serves as the sequel to Dhurandhar (2025).

The sequel was released on March 19, and has remained in the spotlight due to its strong box office performance as well as multiple legal developments related to the film.

Dhurandhar Row: Bombay High Court restrains plagiarism accuser; relief for director Aditya Dhar

In a recent development surrounding Dhurandhar The Revenge, the Bombay High Court has granted interim relief to director Aditya Dhar by restricting filmmaker Santosh Kumar from making further public statements about the film that could harm his reputation.

The order was passed on Wednesday by Justice Arif Doctor after hearing submissions made on behalf of Dhar. The court noted that, at this stage, Dhar had presented sufficient grounds to seek protection, and directed Kumar to refrain from repeating or issuing any statements against the filmmaker or his film until the matter is heard again. The case has now been scheduled for further hearing on April 16.

The dispute began shortly after the release of Dhurandhar The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh. Santosh Kumar had held a press conference alleging that the film’s story was copied from his own script, which he claimed to have registered with the Screenwriters Association in 2023. According to him, the script, titled D Saheb, had earlier been pitched to multiple production houses before Dhar allegedly used it for his film.

Responding to these claims, Dhar approached the court, stating that the allegations were baseless and had caused damage to his professional reputation. His legal team argued that the statements made during the press conference were widely circulated online through multiple videos and social media posts, amplifying their impact.

The court was informed that Dhar had already sent a legal notice to Kumar, asking him to stop making what he described as unverified accusations. However, Kumar neither replied to the notice nor appeared before the court during the hearing.

During the proceedings, Dhar’s side maintained that if Kumar believed his work had been copied, he was free to pursue appropriate legal action. However, they stressed that making public allegations without proof was unfair and damaging.

Taking note of the situation, the court directed Kumar to hold back from making any further remarks related to the film or Dhar until the issue is examined in detail.

Dhurandhar The Revenge, which has been receiving attention for its intense narrative and ensemble cast, has been in the spotlight not only for its box office performance but also due to this ongoing legal dispute. The next hearing is expected to determine the course of action in the case.
