BREAKING: Baby Do Die Do follows in the footsteps of Dhurandhar The Revenge, Bhooth Bangla, Welcome To The Jungle; to have paid previews on July 2

The paid preview trend has significantly picked up for Bollywood this year. It began with Dhurandhar The Revenge, which did record business in the previews. This was followed by Bhooth Bangla. The other Akshay Kumar release, Welcome To The Jungle, also had paid previews; both films earned well in the pre-release screenings. And now, the next film to follow suit is Baby Do Die Do. It’ll have a full-fledged release on July 3 and paid previews on Thursday, July 2.

Yesterday, theatres across the country opened bookings for Baby Do Die Do. Viewers were surprised to see listings for the film on Thursday, as the makers had not publicized that the action thriller would have shows starting Thursday evening. Shows begin from 7:00 pm onwards, and as of now, advance booking has started in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Pune. A few more cities are also expected to join the bandwagon.

Baby Do Die Do is a story of ‘India’s first desi hitwoman’. It features Huma Qureshi in the titular role of a deaf and mute assassin. It is produced by Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem under the banner of Saleem Siblings and directed by Nachiket Samant.

Meanwhile, one more film this week will also have paid previews – the Hollywood animated family entertainer Minions & Monsters. But unlike Baby Do Die Do, its shows will commence from 4:00 on July 2 while it’ll have a full-fledged release from Friday, July 3.

Finally, the other major film this week is Alpha. Coincidentally, just like Baby Do Die Do, Alpha is also about a badass female assassin. Produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), it stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor. It is directed by Shiv Rawail, who previously helmed the globally acclaimed series The Railway Men. The film belongs to the much-loved YRF Spy Universe.

Shahid Kapoor is among the most credible actors of Indian Cinema, and the actor is presently busy shooting for the Raj and DK web-show, Farzi 2. His recent release, Cocktail 2 has done decent business at the box office, and he is now all set to move on to the next theatrical.

According to reliable sources close to the development, Shahid Kapoor is all set to start shooting for director Amit Ravindranath Sharma's next, Adal Badal, from October 2026. "The film is produced by Sunir Kheterpal with Amazon MGM, and is scheduled to kick off in October 2026. There was back-and-forth about taking on the project due to the budget, but everything has aligned now. Shahid Kapoor has signed the film for a sum of Rs. 18 crores, in addition to a sum reserved in the backend if the film makes a profit," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source also informed that Shahid will be paired with Janhvi Kapoor in the film. "It's a first-time pairing, and the duo are excited to start shooting for the film from October 2026. The film is based on the concept of soul swapping, and is touted to be a mad-cap entertainer," the source tells us further.

The casting for other key characters is presently underway.

Digital expansion to create an epic Vanar army While the physical shoot involving thousands of performers is a massive undertaking, it is only the foundation for what will eventually appear on the big screen. The report stated that the true ambition of the sequence will be realized during post-production.

The thousands of live-action performers filmed on set will be digitally expanded using advanced visual effects. Through VFX technology, the on-screen army will be multiplied significantly to create a battle of epic proportions. The production team aims to deliver one of the largest battle spectacles ever attempted in the history of Indian cinema, with plans to showcase an astonishing 50,000 vanars on screen simultaneously.

Varanasi is being shaped as a grand mythological action epic. The narrative explores the thrilling adventures of its protagonist as he travels across different timelines. Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha sparks title row: NCP and Vithabai Narayangaonkar's family seek title change

Shraddha Kapoor's upcoming film Eetha has landed in controversy even before its theatrical release. While the recently unveiled teaser drew appreciation for the actress's transformation into legendary Lavani and Tamasha artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar, the film's title has now become the subject of criticism.

After the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) questioned why the biographical drama was not named after Vithabai Narayangaonkar, members of the late folk icon's family have also urged the makers to reconsider the title and rename the film in her honour. NCP questions the choice of title According to a report by TV9 Marathi, the NCP's Film and Cultural Department has objected to the title Eetha, arguing that a film based on the life of Vithabai Narayangaonkar should carry her name. The party has suggested that titles such as Vitha or Vithabai would be more appropriate and would acknowledge her immense contribution to Maharashtra's Lavani and Tamasha traditions.

Babasaheb Patil, Maharashtra State President of the NCP's Film and Cultural Department, reportedly said the organisation considers it its responsibility to preserve and honour Vithabai's legacy. He questioned why the filmmakers chose not to name the biopic after the celebrated artist despite her lasting impact on Maharashtra's folk art. Vithabai Narayangaonkar's family backs the demand The demand has now found support within Vithabai Narayangaonkar's family. As per the report, her sons Kailash and Rajesh Narayangaonkar, along with her grandson Mohit Narayangaonkar, have expressed disappointment over the title and appealed to the makers to change it.

For the family, the concern extends beyond the name of the film. They believe a biopic celebrating Vithabai's extraordinary life and achievements should bear her name so that future generations continue to recognise the woman who played a defining role in shaping Maharashtra's Lavani and Tamasha heritage.

As of now, director Laxman Utekar and production house Maddock Films have not issued any statement regarding the controversy or the demand to rename the film. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has reiterated its demand for strict action against filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali following the reported death of a worker on the sets of Love & War. The latest statement comes immediately after reports suggested that AICWA President Suresh Gupta had written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, seeking the registration of an FIR against Bhansali, a compensation of Rs. 1 crore for the deceased worker's family, and a high-level inquiry into the incident.

According to reports, carpenter Chandradhari Singh Yadav, 42, allegedly died after suffering an electric shock during the shooting of the film in the early hours of June 17, 2026. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters.  Addressing the incident, AICWA President Suresh Gupta alleged that the death resulted from a failure to maintain adequate safety measures on the film set.

Referring to the incident, Gupta said, “On 17th June, 2026, on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Love & War, one of our workers dies. He is 42 years old, he has two young daughters, his wife. On that day, around 1.30 or 2 in the night, this incident happened. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a big producer and filmmaker. And that worker died because of him. Because of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his production, he lost his life. If he had followed all safety norms on the set that day, the worker would have been among us.”

Gupta further claimed that similar incidents had allegedly taken place during the production of Bhansali's previous films. “This is not the first incident of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In his film, Devdas, he took two lives on the set. He took two lives because he didn't follow safety norms. Then in 2016, Padmaavat happened. On that set, another worker died. Then in 2026, now, another worker died. On their set, four deaths have happened again and again.”

Explaining why the association has sought criminal action, Gupta added, “That’s why, we had asked the AICW to file a murder case against Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He was murdering them. ‘Four workers are losing their lives on your set. And still, instead of shooting and learning your lesson, you are continuously murdering the workers on the set’. You don't follow safety norms. Today, go and ask that worker's family, who has two younger daughters and a wife what they feel.”

He concluded by stressing the need for stronger safety standards for workers in the film industry and shared, “You won't hear the news that a big producer died on the set or a big actor died. You will hear it every time that a worker died. Why do workers die every time? Because they don't give safety to the workers to save money. That's why we had asked the AICW to file a murder case against Sanjay Leela Bhansali and take strict action by registering an FIR for the same. That's what we had asked.”

At the time of publishing, there has been no official response from Sanjay Leela Bhansali or his production team regarding the latest remarks made by AICWA President Suresh Gupta. The matter remains under scrutiny following the reported incident on the sets of Love & War.

The makers of Baby Do Die Do have announced an expanded overseas release plan for the upcoming action thriller, which is set to hit cinemas worldwide on July 3, 2026. Following the response to its recently released trailer, the film will now release across multiple international territories, including the GCC countries, Australia and Amsterdam, widening its global theatrical footprint.

Headlined by Huma Qureshi, Baby Do Die Do has been generating interest ever since its first trailer introduced audiences to its unusual premise and stylised action. The film features Huma in the role of what the makers describe as India's first desi hitwoman, with the story unfolding against the backdrop of Mumbai's underworld.

Forget post-credit scenes! Welcome To The Jungle surprises audiences with a post-intermission-slate sequence featuring Akshay Kumar

Thanks to the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it has now become common for viewers to not leave their seats once the end credits begin. Instead, audiences are expected to stay glued to the screen, waiting for a scene that appears after the credits roll. The post-credit scene trend has caught on in a big way and even Hindi filmmakers have tried their hand at it. However, the recently released Welcome To The Jungle goes a step further. The film features a sequence that appears immediately after the intermission slate.

In Welcome To The Jungle, the word ‘Intermission’ appears on screen and is immediately followed by Akshay Kumar addressing the audience with popcorn in his hand. In a hilarious moment, he says that they had shot a portion for the film but didn’t know where exactly to place it. Hence, they decided to screen it after the interval slate! This is then followed by the song ‘Kyun’, featuring Akshay Kumar and Disha Patani.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “It’s an experiment which seems to have worked. The paid previews of the film took place yesterday, June 25, from 7:30 pm onwards, and the response to this initiative has been positive. It led to a lot of laughter. Many viewers, who had got up to rush to the washroom or grab snacks, immediately sat down on hearing Akshay Kumar’s message. They enjoyed the visuals of the song and then stepped out.”

The trade source continued, “It seems like cinemas were also instructed by the distributors not to switch on the lights when the interval slate appears on screen and also while ‘Kyun’ plays. As a result, the surprise was preserved and audiences got to experience the sequence the way the makers intended.”

Jacqueline Fernandez withdraws Supreme Court plea in Rs 200 crore money laundering case linked to Sukesh Chandrashekhar

Actor Jacqueline Fernandez has withdrawn her special leave petition before the Supreme Court that challenged proceedings initiated against her in the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) Rs 200 crore money laundering case linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. As per an IANS report, a Bench comprising Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi on Thursday allowed the actor to withdraw her petition after the matter was taken up for hearing.

Petition challenged Delhi High Court and trial court orders Jacqueline had approached the Supreme Court after the Delhi High Court refused to quash the ED's prosecution complaint and the trial court's order framing charges against her under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). With the withdrawal of the petition, the legal proceedings against the actor will continue before the trial court. Matter was reassigned after judge recused himself The case was initially listed before a Bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Atul S. Chandurkar on June 11. However, Justice Mishra recused himself from hearing the matter after informing the parties that his son had appeared for the government in a connected case.

The judge stated that since his son had represented the government in one of the related matters, the case should be heard by another Bench. Following the recusal, the matter was reassigned to Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi. Jacqueline has pleaded not guilty Earlier this month, Jacqueline appeared before the Patiala House Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges framed against her under the PMLA. She informed the court that she intended to contest the allegations during trial.

The trial court also framed money laundering charges against Sukesh Chandrashekhar, his wife Leena Maria Paul, and 14 others. All the accused denied the charges and opted to face trial.

The matter is now scheduled to come up before the trial court on July 16 for further proceedings.

The latest development comes weeks after Jacqueline withdrew her application seeking to become an approver in the case. The ED had opposed her request, arguing that her conduct during the investigation was not satisfactory. The agency also claimed that she failed to make a full and truthful disclosure in statements recorded under Section 50 of the PMLA. According to the ED, Jacqueline remained in contact with Chandrashekhar even after learning about his alleged criminal background and did not fully cooperate during the investigation.

The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that Chandrashekhar gifted Jacqueline luxury items and valuables worth around Rs 7 crore using proceeds of crime generated through the alleged money laundering operation. Jacqueline, however, has consistently denied any involvement in the alleged offences. She has maintained that she was unaware of Chandrashekhar's alleged criminal activities and did not know the source of the funds used to purchase the gifts.

The money laundering investigation originates from allegations that Chandrashekhar cheated the wives of former Ranbaxy promoters Shivinder Singh and Malvinder Singh of nearly Rs 200 crore.

EXCLUSIVE: CBFC censors sensual visuals of Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez in Welcome To The Jungle; replaces ‘andha’ with ‘dheela’; deletes ‘Paani of Kashmir’ dialogue

The much-awaited multi-starrer comic caper, Welcome To The Jungle, will release this Friday, on June 26. The censor process was completed on time and in this article, Bollywood Hungama will exclusively focus on the cuts given to the film.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed Welcome To The Jungle with a U/A 16+ dialogue. However, the makers were asked to make several changes. The dialogue ‘Kaala paida hua hai, koyla hai’ was replaced with ‘saadah paida hua hai, namoona hua hai’. A 10-second scene containing the words ‘na diya’ was asked to be deleted. The word ‘screwed’ was replaced with a suitable word in two places. Similarly, the word ‘Azarudden’ was replaced with ‘Allaudin’.

A dialogue mentioning ‘Paani of Kashmir’ was asked to be deleted. The dialogue ‘Yaad karo kurbani, munh mein bhar lo paani’ was replaced with ‘Jo shaheed hone ja raha tha, uske munh mein bhar lo paani’. ‘Aandha’ was replaced with ‘dheela’ while the dialogue ‘desh ki tatti’ was asked to be deleted. Then, ‘Izzat le lo’ was replaced with ‘Yeh aapke saath jaane ko...’, ‘Gorkha Regiment’ was replaced with ‘Tum army se ho?’. ‘General’ was removed and replaced with ‘Officer’ and ‘Sir’ wherever it occurred in the film.

Now, coming to the visual deletions. The cut list says that the makers ‘deleted and replaced sensual bikini visuals, close-up of woman hip passing visuals and hip movement visuals in the song wherever they occurred’. At one point, it specifically mentions that sensual visuals of Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez have been deleted. Lastly, the ‘vulgar’ hand gesture visuals were replaced with a close-up shot of Vindu Dara Singh.

In short, the CBFC asked for 14 changes. Once these modifications were done, the makers of Welcome To The Jungle were handed the censor certificate on June 20. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 164.50 minutes. In other words, Welcome To The Jungle is 2 hours, 44 minutes and 50 seconds long.

Ajay Devgn’s action entertainer Chauhaan announced; first look unveiled, set for October 2027 release

Jio Studios and Colour Yellow Productions have announced Chauhaan, an action film starring Ajay Devgn, with a theatrical release set for October 1, 2027. The title announcement was made on the birth anniversary of the late action director Veeru Devgan, Ajay Devgn’s father.

The announcement video features the track ‘Jumma Chumma De De’ playing in the backdrop and closes on the dialogue: “Pathaanon se kehna, Chauhaan aa raha hai.” The film marks Ajay Devgn’s first collaboration with filmmaker Aanand L Rai. Jio Studios serves as both presenter and producer on the project.

Welcome To The Jungle fever grips exhibitors; Supergirl bookings delayed as theatres prioritize Akshay Kumar’s comic caper

This week will see the release of not just one of the most-awaited Hindi films of the year, Welcome To The Jungle, but also the Hollywood superhero entertainer, Supergirl. Both films will be released on Friday, June 26. However, as of 7:00 pm on June 24, the bookings for Supergirl have yet to begin.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “There’s tremendous excitement in the exhibition sector for Welcome To The Jungle. Moreover, the distributor of the comic caper has also requested extensive promotion. As a result, theatres have decided to adhere to it.”

The source continued, “Consequently, Supergirl is unable to get the desired number of shows. Warner Bros is clear that they are not asking for excessive showcasing. They have asked for 2 prime shows in 4-screen multiplexes and 3 prime shows in multiplexes with more than 4 screens. Yet, they are facing difficulty in securing showcasing. The negotiations are on and a solution is expected to be reached by Wednesday night or Thursday morning.”

As of 7:00 pm on June 24, Supergirl’s bookings had commenced only in Devgn CineX in The Walk in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The same multiplex chain has started bookings in Delhi and Ahmedabad as well. Smaller chains have taken the initiative in other cities. In Pune, not a single cinema hall has begun selling tickets. Similarly, the national chains, that is PVR Inox and Cinepolis, have not opened bookings in a single property in the entire North, Eastern and Western belt.

The source said, “Warner feels its demand is reasonable and that it is not asking for too many shows. They were among the few studios that released their films during the Covid period when Hindi filmmakers were shying away from theatrical releases. Hence, they feel they shouldn’t be given step-motherly treatment now that things have improved. The studio is hopeful that the issue will be resolved amicably and that Supergirl gets a fair showcasing.”

Welcome To The Jungle to have one of the WIDEST releases; distributor demands ALL shows in single screens, 3 shows per screen in 6+ screen multiplexes

The month of June is expected to end on a comic note thanks to the release of Welcome To The Jungle. It is arguably the biggest multi-starrer of Hindi cinema and hence, the excitement is expected to be tremendous. Accordingly, the distributing partner, Star Studio18, has gone all out with the release strategy.

As per the mail sent to the exhibitors, the distributor has asked for all shows in single-screen cinemas. In two-screen cinemas, they have asked for 7 or 8 shows, while they require 9 or 10 shows in three-screen cinemas. In 4-screen multiplexes, the requirement is 11 or 12 shows, while 13 or 14 shows are required in 5-screen plexes. For cinema halls with 6 screens, Welcome To The Jungle needs to be played in 15 or 16 shows. Finally, in multiplexes with more than 6 screens, the studio has asked them to play 3 shows of the comic caper per screen.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Welcome To The Jungle is a grand film meant for the big screen. Due to the humour quotient and sprawling star cast, the film should open with a bang and hence, the studio is intending for a wide release.”

It now remains to be seen whether the demand for all shows in single-screens and 7-8 shows in two-screen cinemas causes any issue, especially regarding the holdover releases. The trade source explained, “Cocktail 2 has a decent hold while Main Vaapas Aaunga refuses to slow down. Some Gujarati and Marathi releases have also put up fair numbers. Also, Hollywood superhero flick Supergirl and the much-awaited Punjabi film, Carry On Jatta 4, are up for release this Friday as well. These films will also require sufficient shows and hence, let’s see how things unfold in the next 48 hours.”

Nidhi Dutta unveils JP Films’ five-project slate: Border 3, General Harbaksh Singh biopic and more

Riding on the box office returns of Border 2, producer Nidhi Dutta has unveiled an ambitious five-title slate at JP Films, the banner founded by her father, filmmaker JP Dutta. The projects span military dramas, a war hero biopic, a digital series on her grandfather, and a treasure-hunt franchise rooted in Indian history and mythology. She revealed her plans during an interview with Variety India.

Border 3 and the military slate The most prominent title on the slate is Border 3, currently in early development in partnership with Bhushan Kumar. Dutta said the third instalment “represents our continued commitment to telling stories of bravery and national pride on the biggest possible canvas.”

Alongside the franchise, JP Films is also developing a biopic on war hero General Harbaksh Singh, who commanded the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1966. “The film aims to bring an important chapter of Indian military history to a new generation while telling the story of a man whose courage shaped history,” Dutta said.

The third military project is a contemporary Air Force drama set during and after Operation Sindoor, focused on the personal and emotional costs of service. “While it delivers scale and action, it is ultimately a deeply human story about duty, family, and sacrifice,” she said. A franchise and a family legacy Marking a different direction for the banner, Dutta is also developing a large-scale treasure-hunt action-adventure film conceived as the first entry in a three-part franchise. “We expect it to be among the first projects to move into production. It’s the first time I’ve written something like this and it’s a franchise film, so it will have two more parts,” she said.

Rounding out the slate is a long-form digital series on her grandfather, filmmaker OP Dutta, described by Nidhi as the studio’s most personal project. She said the series would tell a story about “perseverance, passion, family, and an unwavering belief in cinema despite immense challenges, and the journey of my family legacy.”

Dutta confirmed that production timelines are being finalised and that some titles from the slate are expected to begin shooting over the next couple of months, with individual announcements to follow.

Pankaj Tripathi’s brother hospitalised after alleged sharp-weapon assault in Bihar

Bijendra Nath Tiwari, the brother of acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi, has reportedly sustained serious injuries following an alleged attack in Bihar. According to reports, the incident took place in Belsand village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Madhopur police station.

As per information shared by news agency IANS, Tiwari was injured in a sharp-weapon assault that is believed to be connected to a long-standing dispute. Following the attack, he was initially taken to a local medical facility before being shifted to Patna for advanced treatment due to the severity of his condition. Attack on Pankaj Tripathi’s brother allegedly linked to old rivalry Reports suggest that the attackers had allegedly been waiting in the village and targeted Tiwari over an old feud. According to the complaint cited in media reports, the assailants allegedly launched a sudden attack using sharp weapons, leaving him with serious injuries.

IANS shared an update on social media regarding the incident, stating, “Bijendra Nath Tiwari, sustained critical injuries in a sharp-weapon attack linked to an old dispute. He was shifted to Patna for advanced treatment, while police formed a special team and launched raids to apprehend the accused.”

Following the assault, family members and locals reportedly rushed Tiwari to the Model Sadar Hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors allegedly described his condition as extremely critical while administering first aid.

Given the seriousness of his injuries, medical professionals referred him to a hospital in Patna, where he is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of specialist doctors. At present, there has been no official update regarding his recovery or overall condition.

Love & War set tragedy: Worker dies after alleged electric shock; Bhansali Productions offers Rs 40 lakhs as compensation

A tragic incident on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Love & War has reignited concerns about safety standards and working conditions in the film industry. A 42-year-old carpenter, Chandradhari Yadav, lost his life while working on the film's set at Royal Pump Studio in Goregaon East, Mumbai, in the early hours of June 17.

According to representatives of the Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union (FSSAMU), the incident occurred around 3 am. While the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, initial reports suggest that an electric shock caused by a possible short circuit may have led to the accident. Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report for clarity.

Chandradhari Yadav is survived by his wife and two daughters. Following the incident, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and FSSAMU approached the producers of Love & War seeking financial assistance and support for the family.

The film's production house has reportedly offered Rs 40 lakhs as compensation to Yadav's family. However, union representatives say additional support is necessary to secure the future of his dependents. FWICE president B.N. Tiwari, according to a TOI report, said, “Apart from monetary compensation, we have requested the producer to take responsibility for the children's education. Workers are often made to work far beyond the prescribed eight to ten hours, and there is a limit to how much a person can physically stretch themselves at work.”

He added, “Once the post-mortem report comes, we will decide our next course of action. No matter how big the producer is or how big a film is being made, workers' lives cannot be put at risk.” Questions Over Working Hours FWICE honorary general secretary Ashok Dubey revealed that Yadav had reportedly been working continuously on the set for several days. “Chandradhari had been working continuously on the set for the past three days and had been on duty from 7 am until 3 am on the day of the incident. According to those present, he suffered an electric shock and was rushed to hospital, where he passed away,” Dubey said.

He further stated that the federation has requested employment opportunities for Yadav's wife within the production house. Ashoke Pandit, president of the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) and chief advisor to FWICE, stressed the need for regular inspections and compliance checks.

“We have repeatedly urged producer bodies, studios and government authorities to conduct regular audits of sets, electrical wiring and cabling, considering that 150 to 200 workers are often present on a set,” he said.

“There are lives at stake and significant investments involved in building these sets. Mandatory compliance with fire, electrical and structural safety norms and comprehensive SOPs is the need of the hour.”

Featuring a star-studded cast including Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Huma Qureshi, the film's principal photography reportedly continued longer than anticipated before wrapping up in October 2025. This prompted the makers to shift the release to March 19, 2026.

Just weeks before that release date, another postponement was announced. The producers cited geopolitical tensions in the Middle East as a major factor behind the decision. Given the importance of the region for Indian cinema's overseas business, the team chose to avoid a potentially affected international rollout.

The film was then moved to June 4, 2026, but another delay followed as the makers continued refining the project. Toxic Vs Eetha The newly announced August 26 release places Toxic just two days ahead of the release of Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha, which is scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 28, 2026.

While there are currently no other major releases announced for the period, the proximity of the two films could make the final week of August one of the most closely watched windows at the box office.

Delhi HC postpones hearing on Salman Khan's petition against Kala Hiran; next hearing on July 1

 The Delhi High Court on Friday deferred the hearing on actor Salman Khan's plea seeking to restrain the filming, promotion, and release of the proposed film Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. The matter was postponed after counsel representing the filmmakers sought additional time to file a response to the application. The case was heard by the vacation bench of Justice Madhu Jain, which has now listed the matter before the roster bench on July 1.

Salman Khan has approached the court alleging that the proposed film and its promotional material are based on incidents linked to him and unlawfully exploit his personality and publicity rights.

Salman Khan seeks interim relief

During the hearing, Senior Advocate Sandeep Sethi, appearing on behalf of Salman Khan, urged the court to grant interim protection against the film's release and promotional activities. "He is producing a film on my life and tearing up the notice. He has no right to make a film of my life. I am seeking an interim injunction. The teaser has already been released," Sethi submitted before the court.

According to Khan's legal team, the actor's consent was never obtained for the project despite alleged references to events associated with his life and legal history. The filmmakers' counsel, however, requested time to place their response on record, stating that they had received a copy of the application only recently.

Dispute over alleged use of actor's identity

Salman Khan's plea centres on claims that Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy draws inspiration from the 1998 blackbuck hunting case, despite not explicitly naming the actor.

According to the application, promotional material released for the film contains visual and contextual references that make Khan identifiable to the public. The plea cites a poster released in May 2026 that allegedly depicts a character resembling the actor and wearing a bracelet similar to his well-known blue one.

The actor has also objected to promotional content that allegedly portrays the character carrying a firearm, arguing that such depictions create a misleading impression, particularly since he was acquitted in proceedings related to the Arms Act.

Concerns over pending legal matters

The application further argues that portions of the proposed film appear to be based on issues that are still pending before higher courts. According to Khan's legal team, the dissemination of such material could potentially influence public perception and affect ongoing legal proceedings.

During the hearing, Sethi also argued that the respondents should not be permitted to continue using Salman Khan's identity and public image for promotional purposes without authorization.

Filmmakers oppose interim injunction

The respondents opposed the grant of any interim relief.

During the proceedings, counsel representing the filmmakers informed the court that he had allegedly been receiving death threats and had filed an FIR in connection with the matter.

After hearing submissions from both sides, the court noted that counsel for the producer and director had only recently received the complete pleadings. It directed Salman Khan's legal team to provide the full set of documents to the respondents during the day.

The respondents in the case include producer Amit Jani, Jani FireFox Films, director Bharat Shrinate, Akshay Pandey, and other individuals associated with the project.

The popular 1920 horror franchise is set to return with a brand-new installment. Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and producer Anand Pandit have officially joined forces for 1920: Cold Winter, the latest chapter in the long-running supernatural series that has captivated horror fans for nearly two decades.

The announcement comes shortly after the success of Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, which hit cinemas on June 12, 2026. Building on the momentum of that release, Bhatt and Pandit are now reviving one of Indian cinema’s most recognizable horror brands with what promises to be another spine-chilling tale.

The romcom released this Friday and as predicted, both the assets have indeed been hard-locked into the prints of the Shahid Kapoor-Kriti Sanon-Rashmika Mandanna starrer. As the title suggests, Prahaar - The Ujjwal Nikam Story is based on the life of prominent special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. Rajkummar Rao plays the titular role in the film, which also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher. Jacqueline Fernandez signs horror film; teaser and song already shot

Jacqueline Fernandez is all set to step into the horror genre with her first-ever full-fledged horror film. The actress, who has been looking for the right script in this space for quite some time, has finally found a project that excited her. According to sources, the film will combine horror, emotion, and music, offering audiences a complete theatrical experience. Jacqueline will play the lead role, while two male actors have already been finalized for the project. The makers are keeping the title, cast details, and director under wraps for now.

Salman Khan in talks with Farhan Akhtar for two-part historical epic: Report

Salman Khan's upcoming slate continues to expand. After signing an action-comedy with filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., and while shooting for his untitled film with director Vamshi Paidipally and co-star Nayanthara, the superstar is now reportedly exploring another major project.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, Salman is currently in discussions with actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar for a large-scale historical action drama that could mark their first collaboration. A source close to the development told the publication, “Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar have been meeting regularly over the last month and discussing a potential collaboration. Salman has loved what he has heard so far and has shown keen interest in the project.”

The source added that conversations are still in the early stages. “The talks are still at an early stage and have not yet reached the paperwork phase, but both sides are excited about the possibility of coming together for the first time.” If the project moves forward, it could become one of the most ambitious films of Salman Khan's career. The proposed venture is reportedly being designed as a grand period action drama based on one of the most celebrated figures in Indian history.

Sharing more details about the scale of the film, the insider revealed, “It is a massive period action drama mounted on a grand scale. The idea is to tell the story across 2 films.”

The project is expected to be produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. If everything falls into place, production is likely to begin in the summer of 2027.

The development comes at a busy time for Salman Khan. The actor is currently filming an untitled project directed by Vamshi Paidipally, which features Nayanthara in a leading role. The speculation surrounding Kalki 2898 AD's sequel continues to intensify following Deepika Padukone's exit from the franchise. While social media and trade circles have been buzzing with reports linking Alia Bhatt and Sai Pallavi to the project, director Nag Ashwin has now shared an important update on the matter.

The discussion began months after production house Vyjayanthi Movies officially announced that it would not be continuing its association with Deepika Padukone for the sequel. The statement drew attention for its reference to a lack of alignment, with the banner stating that it was "unable to find a partnership" and suggesting that a film of Kalki's scale required a greater level of commitment.

Soon after, speculation emerged regarding the future of Sumathi, Deepika's character in the film. Since Sumathi plays a crucial role in the Kalki universe, many fans questioned whether the character would be recast or written out altogether.

"We need to announce who plays Sumathi character in Kalki 2. As of now everything is speculation only. Character will be there for sure which we can't remove as it's a very important character," the filmmaker said.

The uncertainty has fuelled two major theories among fans. One section believes Alia Bhatt could join the franchise in an entirely new role rather than replacing Deepika. Reports and online discussions have suggested that she could portray Goddess Vaishno Devi, a figure often associated with Kalki mythology and believed by some traditions to be a Chiranjeevi tasked with guiding and protecting Kalki.

The original Kalki 2898 AD featured Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in key roles. Sonu Nigam reveals he underwent MRI and CT scans after developing painful nerve condition; shares health update!

Singer Sonu Nigam has opened up about a recent health challenge, revealing that he has been dealing with a painful nerve-related condition over the past week. Despite undergoing extensive medical treatment and experiencing significant discomfort, the singer remains committed to performing for his fans.

On Tuesday, Sonu shared a video on Instagram in which he spoke candidly about his condition and the treatment he has been receiving. The singer revealed that doctors have been closely monitoring his health and that he has undergone several diagnostic tests in recent days.

“My nerves are pinched. I have been taking MRI and CT scans for a week. I have been taking a lot of medicines,” Sonu said in the video while showing a medical patch attached to his shoulder.

The singer explained that the condition has required ongoing treatment, including medication and physiotherapy. According to Sonu, the recovery process has not been easy. “Physiotherapy was very painful. I am taking painkillers now. Due to that, my throat is also a little heavy,” he shared.

For a professional singer, any issue affecting the throat can be particularly concerning. Sonu revealed that some of the muscle-relaxant medicines prescribed as part of his treatment have had an impact on his voice. However, he appeared determined to continue with his commitments despite the challenges.
