EXCLUSIVE: Haiwaan is 164 minutes long; CBFC replaces word with 'Kamina'; replaces 'derogatory' term with 'Girlfriend'

This week will see the release of Haiwaan, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. The thriller has managed to catch attention due to the casting, association of director Priyadarshan and the intriguing trailer. In this article, Bollywood Hungama will exclusively focus on the cuts given to the film.

The Central Board of Film Certification has passed Haiwaan with a U/A 16+ certificate. However, they asked for certain cuts. A visual in the beginning of the film was 'suitably modified'. In the second half of the film, a word was deleted and replaced with 'Kamina'. In the post-interval portion, a 'derogatory' word was deleted and replaced with 'Girlfriend'. Somewhere in the middle of the movie, a 'derogatory' sentence was deleted and replaced with 'Dimaag ki vaat laga ke rakh di'. Thankfully, no visual cuts were enforced. Hence, all the thrilling and action packed visuals have been left untouched by the Examining Committee of the CBFC.

Once these changes were made, the CBFC passed the film today, that is, September 8. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 164.07 minutes. In other words, Haiwaan is 2 hours, 44 minutes and 7 seconds.

Besides Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, Haiwaan also stars Shriya Pilgaonkar and Sayami Kher. It releases on September 11.

Nora Fatehi sued for Rs 3 crores by aviation company over alleged “toy” and “Lego airplane” comments: Report

Actress Nora Fatehi has reportedly landed in a legal dispute after aviation company Dunes Aviation filed a Rs 3 crores civil defamation suit against her at a Gandhinagar court over comments she allegedly made about one of its chartered aircraft on social media.

According to a PTI report, Dunes Aviation has accused Nora of making “derogatory and reckless” remarks after she shared videos from inside the company’s aircraft during a Mumbai-Jaipur flight in December last year. The company has alleged that the actress referred to the aircraft as a “miniature”, a “toy” and a “Lego airplane” in the videos posted on her Instagram account.

The matter is reportedly scheduled to come up before senior civil judge R Agarwal on September 25. Dunes Aviation claims social media posts affected business In its suit, Dunes Aviation has reportedly claimed that Nora’s remarks reached a substantial audience because of her social media following, which the company puts at more than 4.6 crores followers.

The aviation firm has alleged that the posts caused reputational and commercial damage, including booking cancellations and a decline in business. According to the company, its bookings dropped by 15 to 20 per cent following the controversy, while cancellations increased.

Dunes Aviation has described Nora’s alleged comments as “reckless, irresponsible, and made without any technical knowledge, verification or factual basis”. The company has further claimed that the remarks resulted in “serious reputational damage, loss of goodwill and adverse commercial impact”. Company defends aircraft’s certification and operation Dunes Aviation has also addressed the comments about the aircraft itself. According to the suit, the Cessna Citation CJ2 used for the Mumbai-Jaipur journey was a standard aircraft and appropriately sized for the flight.

The company has stated that the aircraft was fully DGCA-certified and airworthy and was being operated legally under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP). What Dunes Aviation has sought from Nora Fatehi Apart from Rs 3 crores in damages, Dunes Aviation has reportedly asked the court to direct Nora to remove social media posts and other online content containing the alleged remarks or references to the aircraft.

The company has also sought a public clarification from the actress over the comments.

Hrithik Roshan’s mother Pinky Roshan buys two luxury apartments in Mumbai for Rs. 67.30 crores

Pramila Roshan, popularly known as Pinky Roshan and the mother of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan, has reportedly made a significant investment in Mumbai’s luxury real estate market. According to information from Brickbharat, Pinky Roshan has purchased two luxury apartments in the city’s Versova area for a combined consideration of Rs 67.30 crores.

The two properties are located on the 24th floor of Lotus Celestia, a residential development situated in Seven Bungalows, Versova. Together, the apartments offer approximately 12,860 sq ft of usable area, making the transaction a sizeable luxury property deal in one of Mumbai’s sought-after residential locations.

As per the details shared by Brickbharat, the combined transaction works out to an average price of approximately Rs 52,330 per sq. ft. The deal also includes eight dedicated car parking spaces, adding to the overall value and utility of the properties.

The purchase comes amid continued activity in Mumbai’s premium residential real estate segment, where luxury apartments in established neighbourhoods have continued to attract high-value transactions. Versova and the surrounding Seven Bungalows area are among the city’s prominent residential pockets, with several high-end developments catering to buyers seeking larger homes and premium amenities.

Pinky Roshan has been associated with the Roshan family’s film and creative activities over the years. She is married to filmmaker and music composer Rakesh Roshan and is the mother of actor Hrithik Roshan and Sunaina Roshan. Hrithik Roshan, meanwhile, remains one of the prominent names in the Hindi film industry and has several high-profile projects in his lineup.

The latest property transaction adds another notable celebrity-linked deal to Mumbai’s luxury real estate market. With two apartments spanning nearly 12,860 sq. ft. of usable area, the Rs. 67.30 crores purchase is among the more substantial property acquisitions involving a Bollywood family in recent times.

Bipasha Basu set to make comeback with Hansal Mehta’s Barabanki

Bipasha Basu is set to return to acting after several years away from the screen. The actor has reportedly begun shooting for filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s upcoming crime thriller series Barabanki. The project is set in 1984 and is based on retired IPS officer Aloke Lal’s book, The Barabanki Narcos: Busting India’s Most Notorious Drug Cartel.

The series is inspired by a real-life operation led by Lal to dismantle a major opium cartel operating in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district. Alongside Bipasha, the series features Sunny Kaushal and Homebound actor Vishal Jethwa in prominent roles. Details about their respective characters are currently being kept under wraps.

According to Mid-Day, Bipasha started shooting for Barabanki in Mumbai last month. The project also marks her first collaboration with Hansal Mehta. The series has been described as a first-hand account of an IPS officer and his team as they take on influential drug cartels and attempt to bring down their operations.

Barabanki is co-produced by Prabhleen Kaur, who is known for Made in India: The Titan Story. While Bipasha’s character details have not been disclosed, the report suggests that her role will have a strong connection with the protagonist. The actor reportedly agreed to join the project soon after Mehta approached her. The filmmaker had also been on Bipasha’s wish list of directors she wanted to work with.

The report further states that Bipasha will sport a distinct look in the series, marking a departure from some of her previous on-screen appearances. The story is also expected to explore the wider network that supported Aloke Lal during his campaign against the drug cartel.

Aloke Lal spent 37 years in public service before retiring as the Director General of Police (DGP). During his career, he played an important role in dismantling the Barabanki Narcotics Cartel and also led field operations against organised armed bandits in rural Shahjahanpur. He was additionally involved in overseeing counter-militancy operations in Uttarakhand.

Lal has documented several of his professional experiences in his co-authored book On the Trail of Thugs and Thieves, which covers eight major burglary investigations.

Bipasha, meanwhile, is known for films including Raaz, Jism, Dhoom 2, No Entry, Ajnabee and Omkara. Her last feature film was Alone, which released in 2015. She later made her OTT debut with the thriller Dangerous in 2020. Since then, the actor has largely stayed away from acting projects, following the birth of her daughter, Devi, in 2022.

To add to the issues, the digital rights of Toxic are yet unsold. "The Toxic team had an offer of Rs. 150 crores from a leading platform, but the demand from the team was a lot higher, north of Rs. 200 crores. Yash was confident that the film would do blockbuster business in theatres, and that in turn, would boost the post-theatrical OTT prices to Rs. 200 crore plus. But the results are exactly opposite, as the digital players are now offering an amount as low as Rs. 30 crore for the post-theatrical streaming rights for all languages. The biggest offer has come from Zee 5," a source told Bollywood Hungama in confidence. The satellite recovery is expected to be almost nil owing to the largely adult format of storytelling. "The makers are now contemplating a completely new edit for the digital version, with the hope of fetching a bigger amount than what's on the table. The discussions are underway to figure out a way to reduce the losses, one of which is a new cut for OTT," the source tells us further. Toxic was released on August 26, and has turned out to be a huge disaster with unanimous negative talk. The film opened at Rs. 120 crore in India, and is looking to end its run under Rs. 250 crore, which speaks volumes about the audience wom. Mirzapur: The Movie faces controversy as Rapperiya Baalam alleges his song was used without permission

Mirzapur: The Movie has run into controversy shortly after its theatrical release over the reported use of a song by Rajasthani artist and rapper Rapperiya Baalam. The musician has alleged that his track ‘Shoorveer,’ which was created as a tribute to Maharana Pratap, was used in the film without his permission or credit.

The film released in theatres on Friday, September 4. Rapperiya Baalam subsequently took to Instagram to express his disappointment over the song’s inclusion in a sequence featuring gangsters.

“Today, my heart is broken. Some of you may ask why my heart is broken. You might say I should be happy because my song is in Mirzapur. But the Mirzapur team did not take my permission to use my song. Who gave them the permission? I certainly did not,” he said. Rapperiya Baalam questions use of ‘Shoorveer’ According to the artist, ‘Shoorveer’ was specifically created as a tribute to Maharana Pratap. He questioned the decision to use the song in a sequence that, in his view, presents the film’s gangsters in a glorified manner.

“This song is dedicated to Maharana Pratap ji. We are using this song to glorify the villains in the movie. Is this right?” he said.

Rapperiya Baalam also said he would have been open to collaborating with the team had they approached him directly.

“If the Mirzapur team had approached me and said, 'Rapperiya bhai, we want to use your song,' we would have given them 10 ideas. But taking the song without permission is not right,” he said.

The artist further raised questions about the copyright and licensing process involved in using the track.

“I don't know who gave you these rights or from whom you obtained them. Whoever gave you the rights, I would like you to ask them: Do you have any copyright?” he added.

Artist says he will pursue necessary action

Rapperiya Baalam also described the alleged use of the song as disrespectful towards Rajasthan and Maharana Pratap.

“Why wouldn't it hurt? This is an insult to Rajasthan. It is an insult to Maharana Pratap ji, and we will not be able to tolerate this,” he said.

At the same time, the musician acknowledged that the song’s appearance in the film had led many listeners to reach out to him. He said he received messages from people who recognised the track while watching Mirzapur: The Movie.

“Being the composer and singer of the song, and seeing millions of people listening to it, of course, your enthusiasm brings a lot of messages. Thousands of messages have come to me in DMs saying, 'Brother, your song is in Mirzapur.' But, Mirzapur team, you should have done this properly. You should have spoken to me,” he said.

Rapperiya Baalam concluded by indicating that he would take whatever steps he considers necessary. “Anyway, whatever action needs to be taken will continue,” he said.

As of now, the makers of Mirzapur: The Movie have not publicly responded to the allegations. The film, directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, brings the popular franchise to the big screen following its run as a streaming series.

Rajniesh Duggal to play Physics Wallah teacher Pankaj Sijairya in upcoming biopic

Actor Rajniesh Duggal has revealed that a biopic on Physics Wallah teacher Pankaj Sijairya is currently in development, with the actor set to portray the educator on screen. The film has been written and will be directed by James A., who was one of Sijairya’s students.

Duggal made the revelation during an Instagram Live conversation with Sijairya, sharing details about the project and the connection between its writer-director and the teacher. The actor also revealed that he had recently finished reading the script.

Speaking about the project, Duggal said, “I have a very interesting surprise for you, Pankaj sir. One of your students has actually written the film and asked me if I would like to play your role in it. So I said 100% that if there is something like this, I would absolutely want to be a part of it. In fact, I finished the script today, and it is written in a very interesting way.”

Sijairya is an Organic Chemistry teacher associated with Physics Wallah, the education platform founded by Alakh Pandey. He has gained a following among students for his teaching style, which combines Chemistry concepts with humour, relatable examples and shayari.

The upcoming project will see Duggal portray Sijairya, with the story being told through the perspective of someone who experienced his teaching first-hand. Esha Talwar has also been cast in the film as the female lead.

The film is currently in development, and further details about its production and release are expected to be announced later.
