Dhanush slams AI-edited Raanjhanaa re-release: “This isn’t the film I made”

In a shocking turn of events, the re-release of the 2013 romantic drama Raanjhanaa has sparked widespread outrage after the film’s climax was altered using Artificial Intelligence (AI) — without the consent of lead actor Dhanush or director Aanand L Rai. The AI-generated ending, introduced by Eros International, has ignited a heated debate on the ethics of AI in cinema, with Dhanush himself expressing “deep disappointment” and calling the decision a “threat to the integrity of storytelling.”

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Dhanush didn’t mince words in his statement, “The re-release of Raanjhanaa with an AI-altered climax has completely disturbed me. This alternate ending has stripped the film of its very soul… This is not the film I committed to 12 years ago.” He also called for stricter regulations to prevent similar alterations in the future. “The use of Al to alter films or content is a deeply concerning precedent for both art and artists. It threatens the integrity of storytelling and the legacy of cinema. I sincerely hope that stricter regulations are put in place to prevent such practices in the future”, he added.

For the love of cinema ???? pic.twitter.com/VfwxMAdfoM — Dhanush (@dhanushkraja) August 3, 2025

The original ending of Raanjhanaa was hailed for its heartbreaking realism — Kundan (Dhanush), bloodied and dying, lies unresponsive as Zoya (Sonam Kapoor) cradles his lifeless face. The moment was a raw portrayal of sacrifice and unfulfilled love, cementing the film’s cult status. In stark contrast, the new version shows Kundan surviving his injuries, waking up in the hospital to smiles and upbeat music. Fans were quick to slam the new ending, calling it “a betrayal,” “tone-deaf,” and “an insult to the original narrative.” It began trending as cinephiles shared clips, reactions, and nostalgic tributes to the original.

Adding to the backlash, director Aanand L Rai also voiced his disappointment, confirming he was not consulted and the filmmaker expressed his anger in a heartfelt note on social media. While Eros International released a statement defending their actions as an “experiment in cinematic innovation,” many believe the move sets a dangerous precedent — one where commercial interests override artistic authenticity.

As the controversy brews, one thing is clear: Raanjhanaa may have received a new ending, but the original story — and the emotions it evoked — still lives on in the hearts of its audience.

Farah Khan exposes fake Instagram account impersonating her famous cook Dilip

Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently used social media to call out a fake Instagram account pretending to be her long-time cook, Dilip. She made it clear that the account is not run by her staff member and strongly warned the impersonator. Farah Khan’s popular celebrity cooking vlogs frequently showcase her cook Dilip, who has become an unexpected highlight and gained significant online fame.

On Sunday morning, Farah Khan used her Instagram Stories to expose a fake social media account pretending to be her cook, Dilip. She posted a screenshot of the profile, which had gained over 50,000 followers and falsely identified as a blogger, even including her name in the bio. Calling it a “FAKE account,” Farah stated, “This is a fake account!! N v r complaining...so @dilip.bihariO u better take it down!!"

When Farah Khan called out the impersonator’s profile, the account featured 244 posts, including multiple Reels—many of which had received over 100,000 views—mostly using reused clips from Farah and Dilip’s well-known vlogs. However, shortly after Farah issued her public warning, the account quickly altered its username and display picture, and either deleted or archived all its content. It is now listed as A1 Blogger and displays zero posts.

Interestingly, while the impersonated account had gained significant attention, a few other fake Instagram profiles also claim to be Dilip. However, these have minimal visibility, with most failing to reach even 100 followers.

In a recent vlog featuring Ajay Devgn, filmmaker Farah Khan shared a humorous story about how she first met her now-famous cook, Dilip. “You know how I found him? Oh my God! I have to tell you this story," she said to Ajay during their conversation. “He was outside your house. How could I forget this? Yeh aapke bungalow ke bahar ghoom raha tha (He was loitering around your bungalow). This was about 12–13 years ago," she added with a laugh.

Farah Khan launched her cooking vlogs featuring her trusted cook Dilip in 2024, and the series has quickly become a hit on social media. With her signature humour and natural rapport with Dilip, Farah adds a delightful charm to every episode. The duo has visited the homes of several celebrities, including Raveena Tandon, Sania Mirza, Malaika Arora, and Himesh Reshammiya, where they prepare easy, comforting dishes while sharing playful banter and engaging in relaxed, candid conversations.

Kartik Aaryan's team issues clarification after FWICE sends notice over his alleged association with Pakistani organized event

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has sent an official letter to actor Kartik Aaryan, raising concerns over his alleged association with an event reportedly organized by individuals from Pakistan. The letter cites a violation of guidelines issued by both FWICE and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, which discourage participation in events involving Pakistani organizers due to strained diplomatic relations.

In their communication, FWICE emphasized that the film industry must refrain from any engagements that could indirectly support or legitimize cross-border participation involving Pakistani entities. The letter serves as a caution to Aaryan and reiterates the federation’s previously stated position, advising all Indian artists to avoid any professional or promotional involvement with Pakistan-based events or organizers.

The controversy stems from promotional material for an upcoming international event that featured Kartik Aaryan’s name and image, suggesting his participation. However, in response to FWICE's letter and the circulating event promotions, the actor’s team promptly released an official statement denying any involvement.

“Kartik Aaryan is not associated with this event in any capacity. He has never made an official announcement about participating in this event. We have contacted the organizers and requested to remove all promotional materials featuring his name and image,” the statement from his team clarified.

FWICE has taken the clarification into account but has maintained its stance on strict compliance with national and industry-level directives. The federation also warned event organizers against using Indian celebrities’ names without consent, calling it misleading and potentially damaging.

The situation is being closely monitored by industry bodies to prevent further instances of such misrepresentation.

EXCLUSIVE: Sanskaari CBFC springs a surprise; allows NAKED butt scene in Liam Neeson’s The Naked Gun

The outrageous adult comedy The Naked Gun has been released today, August 1, in cinemas and it has been noticed due to the popularity of the series, casting and hilarious trailers. There was apprehension among the fans of the series about whether the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) would recklessly ask for cuts in adult scenes. But in a rare instance, the CBFC hasn’t made any major changes in the film.

As per the cut list, the Examining Committee of the CBFC just deleted a one-second ‘obscene visual’ at 41 minutes into the film. What has astonished the fans is that there’s a 2-3 second shot of lead actor Liam Neeson’s naked butt. The CBFC, however, neither asked the studio to blur the posterior of the veteran actor nor instructed them to do away with the shot.

After the only cut was implemented, The Naked Gun received a censor certificate on July 25. The film was passed with an ‘A’ rating. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 87.31 minutes. In other words, The Naked Gun is 1 hour, 27 minutes and 31 seconds long.

A trade source commented, “One can argue that since The Naked Gun received an ‘A’ rating, the butt shot has been allowed. But then, there have been instances in the past where the CBFC has cut scenes even in adult films. A recent example is that of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal (2023), where close-up shots in an intimate scene were axed despite the film getting an adults-only rating. While violent scenes often are untouched, the CBFC often targets such scenes, which is why it is called the ‘Sanskaari Censor Board’.”

However, an industry insider reminded, “Maybe, the CBFC has no issue with showing male butt. Wasn’t Ranveer Singh’s buttock shot in Befikre (2016) approved by CBFC, that too with a U/A rating?”
