EXCLUSIVE: In a SHOCKING development, CBFC deletes a WHOPPING 8 minutes of Sydney Sweeney’s frontal nudity scenes in The Housemaid

The year 2026 will begin on a thrilling and erotic note for Indian cinegoers, thanks to the release of The Housemaid. The film released in the West on December 19 and has been appreciated for its subject, twists and turns and performances, especially that of Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. However, Indian audiences may be disappointed to learn that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has edited out a significant portion of the film’s intimate scenes.

The CBFC awarded The Housemaid an ‘A’ certificate on December 4 after asking for some modifications. The words ‘b***h’, ‘c**t’ and ‘motherf****r’ were muted, as per the recommendations of the Examining Committee. Secondly, the studio partner was asked to delete ‘nudity visuals of women's breasts…whenever it occurs’. As a result, a whopping 8 minutes of screen time have been axed, the longest cut due to censor diktats in recent times.

Bollywood Hungama has learned that a long, intense lovemaking scene involving Sydney Sweeney won’t be available in India. Another similar sequence has also faced cuts. A scene of Amanda Seyfried using a breast pump was also asked to be removed. However, a brief shot showing the buttocks of the male lead, Brandon Sklenar, has been retained.

Despite the cuts, the film’s narrative and erotic nature remain largely unaffected, according to those who saw the censored version. The original run time of The Housemaid was 131.46 minutes, that is, 2 hours, 11 minutes and 46 seconds. After the cuts and inclusion of the anti-smoking ad in the beginning and after the interval, the revised duration of the film in India is 125.46 minutes. In other words, The Housemaid is now 2 hours, 5 minutes and 46 seconds long.

The Housemaid tells the story of a woman on parole who’s desperate to find work. She lands a job as a housemaid at the palatial residence of a wealthy family. All seems well at first, but she slowly realizes that her life could be in danger while working for them.

Spirit first look unveiled: Sandeep Reddy Vanga drops special New Year treat for Prabhas fans

The much-anticipated Pan-India film Spirit, bringing together director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Prabhas for the first time, has officially kicked off 2026 with a major reveal. As the clock struck midnight welcoming the New Year, the makers unveiled the first look of the film, instantly sending fans into a frenzy and reaffirming the project’s status as one of the most talked-about upcoming releases.

Spirit has been under the spotlight ever since its announcement, largely due to the powerful combination of Prabhas and Vanga, both known for delivering intense, high-impact cinema. The first-look reveal at the turn of the year was a calculated promotional move, and one that Vanga has successfully employed in the past. Ahead of the reveal, the filmmaker teased audiences on social media on December 31 by writing, “People… A few hours more for SPIRIT – First Poster,” sparking widespread excitement and speculation.

Interestingly, this strategy mirrors the promotional approach Vanga used years ago while announcing Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor. That midnight tease had gone on to create significant online chatter, and with Spirit, the director appears to have recreated the same sense of anticipation—this time on an even bigger, pan-India scale.

The film had already made headlines earlier this year following a casting change that drew considerable attention. Deepika Padukone, who was initially associated with the project, exited the film citing work-hour concerns. Subsequently, Triptii Dimri was brought on board, a move that further intensified curiosity around the film. Spirit marks Triptii’s first collaboration with Prabhas and her second association with Sandeep Reddy Vanga after Animal, making her casting particularly noteworthy.

Apart from Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, the film also stars Vivek Oberoi and Kanchana, among others, adding to its ensemble appeal. Backed by T-Series, Spirit is being mounted on a grand scale, aligning with Vanga’s signature storytelling style and Prabhas’ Pan-India stardom.

EXCLUSIVE: I&B Ministry asks Dhurandhar makers to remove ‘Baloch’; revised version of Ranveer Singh-starrer to play in cinemas from January 1, 2026

The biggest grosser of 2025 and of Hindi cinema, Dhurandhar, has had a great run, collecting Rs. 754.50 crores in 26 days. There's a lot of gas left in the tank and hence, it’ll continue to collect considerably in 2026 as well, in the first few weeks. Bollywood Hungama has learned that those who’ll watch the Ranveer Singh-starrer in the New Year will get to see a revised version.

An exhibition source told Bollywood Hungama, “Theatres across the country received an e-mail from the distributors today, December 31, informing them they are replacing the DCP of the film. The reason for the change is that the makers have muted two words and changed a dialogue in the film, as per the directives received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India.”

The source added, “The cinemas were requested to download the new content and play the revised version of the film from January 1, 2026.”

An industry insider commented, “One of the words removed from the new version of Dhurandhar is ‘Baloch’.” However, Bollywood Hungama could not find out which other two words were muted or changed, at the time of publishing the article.

Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Sara Arjun. It tells the story of an Indian who infiltrates Pakistan and creates havoc. It is written and directed by Aditya Dhar, produced by Jyoti Deshpande's Jio Studios and Lokesh Dhar and Aditya Dhar's B62 Studios. It was released on December 5 and had a slow start. But thanks to the incredible word of mouth, the film grew with each passing day. As a result, while it collected Rs. 218 crores in Week 1, it went on to collect a whopping Rs. 261.50 crores in its second week, shocking trade and industry. It is expected to soon cross the Rs. 800 crores mark.

Hrithik Roshan to headline Don 3 after Ranveer Singh exits franchise? Here’s what we know!

Fresh developments are emerging around Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated action thriller Don 3 as Bollywood buzz intensifies regarding a change in the film’s lead casting. After widespread media reports suggested Ranveer Singh might be stepping away from the project, industry sources now indicate that Hrithik Roshan is being considered to take on the iconic role — though discussions are at an early stage.

Reportedly, the producers behind Don 3 have begun exploring possible replacements after the reported departure of Ranveer Singh from the film. While neither the makers nor the actors involved have issued official statements, an insider told Filmfare that Hrithik Roshan has emerged as a strong contender to headline the third instalment of the franchise.

The speculation follows recent industry chatter linking Ranveer’s possible exit from Don 3 to his career trajectory after the success of Dhurandhar. Initial reports suggested that Ranveer — who has been enjoying significant box office acclaim — might choose to focus on different creative avenues. However, the latest updates clarify that the situation around Singh’s association with Don 3 is less straightforward than early rumours indicated.

A Pinkvilla report highlights that Ranveer Singh did not quit Don 3 because of Dhurandhar’s success, debunking an often-repeated narrative in some corners of social media and entertainment press. Instead, the actor’s absence is being attributed to creative differences with the project’s team.

While the details surrounding negotiations and any potential disagreements remain unclear — and no official confirmation has come from Ranveer or the Don 3 team — industry observers note that creative divergences are a common occurrence in large-scale projects where multiple artistic visions must align.

The idea of Hrithik Roshan stepping into the Don universe carries its own resonance. Fans will recall that Hrithik appeared briefly in Don 2, when Shah Rukh Khan’s character adopted a disguise based on Roshan’s persona. That cameo has reportedly made him an attractive option for the franchise’s next chapter.

Moreover, Filmfare’s report points out that discussions involving Hrithik are still in early stages, and nothing has been finalised. The makers are being mindful that the lead actor stepping into Don 3 not only fills the shoes of past icons like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan but also sustains the franchise’s legacy with a well-established star.

Don 3 — the third instalment in the iconic Don series originally launched by Farhan Akhtar — continues to be one of Bollywood’s most anticipated projects. While past reports earlier in 2025 confirmed Ranveer Singh’s casting alongside co-star Kiara Advani, production has faced hurdles, including casting changes and schedule adjustments.

As discussions evolve, industry watchers will be closely watching whether Hrithik Roshan’s name gains traction or if the Don 3 team settles in a different direction. With reports suggesting that Don 3 is still targeting an early 2026 start to production, any final casting decisions are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.

Bobby Deol gives voice to the younger version of Dharmendra in Ikkis

As anticipation builds for Ikkis, a touching behind-the-scenes detail has emerged that adds an emotional layer to the film. In a rare and heartfelt collaboration, Bobby Deol has dubbed a few dialogues for his father, late Dharmendra, lending his voice to portray the latter’s younger on-screen persona in the film.

This creative decision brings an added sense of authenticity and legacy to Ikkis, seamlessly bridging generations both on and off screen. Bobby’s voice subtly enhances the portrayal of the character’s younger years, making the transition across timelines more intimate and impactful. For this very reason, Bobby has been given special thanks in the film.

Meanwhile, the first impressions of Ikkis are now out, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Critics have praised the film for its emotional depth, sincerity, and powerful storytelling.

Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Ikkis is all set to arrive in cinemas on January 1. As the first film of 2026, Ikkis aims to begin the New Year on a note of courage, legacy, and heartfelt tribute.

Ikkis is based on the martyrdom of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra at the age of 21. He sacrificed his life while fighting for the nation during the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. His character in the film is played by Agastya Nanda while it also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Simar Bhatia in key roles.

Daniel Weber on wife Sunny Leone’s event in Mathura being cancelled after protests, “I find it very strange that 16 years later we are still facing this”

The proposed visit of Sunny Leone to the holy city of Mathura has been cancelled following strong opposition from religious organisations over a planned New Year programme. The actress was reportedly scheduled to attend a private New Year event at a hotel in Mathura. The event was called off after the protests.

Reacting on behalf of his wife, Sunny Leone’s husband Daniel Weber said, “First off, it’s not a New Year’s show. Her New Year’s show is in Hyderabad. Everyone knows. And it’s publicized everywhere. She’s had a show almost every day for the last five, six days, seven days.”

Daniel feels the couple is needlessly made to prove their allegiance to India. “Sunny and I are in India for sixteen years. That is a very good portion of our lives. We have been, I believe, good citizens. We’ve done plenty of good deeds from the goodness of our heart because we like to give back to a country that has given us so much. So, I do find it amazing that there is still a group, be it whatever group it is, that protests that Sunny is coming somewhere.”

Daniel feels Sunny’s presence in any city brings positivity. “When she visits a city, it brings revenue, brings business, brings eyeballs, and it brings, you know, it is not bringing anything bad. It is bringing entertainment. And I believe that we should celebrate that. And I do find it very strange that 16 years later, that we are still facing something like this. We haven’t faced something like this in a long time. So I’m very surprised.”

Daniel hopes to be invited to Mathura someday. “I hope that they do one-day invite us back and realize that that was a wrong decision. I do believe it’s a wrong decision. But we will respect it and let them do what they want to do. And we will go somewhere else and have great entertainment somewhere else and enjoy and provide wonderful entertainment for another city and another place. And they will enjoy it. And we will all have a wonderful year. God bless everyone.”

Is Ananya Panday secretly hinting at making her biggest jewellery move yet? Industry buzz sparks speculation

Ananya Panday has once again found herself at the centre of industry chatter, this time for a mysterious new shoot that has set fashion and luxury circles abuzz. While no official announcement has been made, sources close to the actress suggest that something significant may be brewing behind the scenes.

“There's growing intrigue around Ananya Panday's latest hush-hush shoot, with industry insiders hinting that she may be fronting a major new collaboration with a leading jewellery brand. Those close to the production describe the mood as distinctly ‘elevated and modern,’ featuring sleek lighting, reflective surfaces, and intimate, beauty-led close-ups—an aesthetic departure from Ananya's recent brand outings,” a source revealed.

The visual language of the shoot, coupled with tight confidentiality around the project, has only fuelled curiosity. According to insiders, the styling and overall mood appear to signal a more luxe, contemporary direction, sparking conversations about whether this could mark a defining moment in Ananya’s brand journey.

“While the team involved has remained tight-lipped, subtle styling cues and early behind-the-scenes whispers have sparked speculation within fashion and luxury circles. Some believe this could be her biggest jewellery partnership yet, possibly tied to a new-age collection aimed at younger audiences or maybe miss Pandey is launching her own brand!!?? Is this AP's latest bait to attract the Gen Z audience and jewellery divas. Well only time can tell!” the source added.

Though speculation is rife, those close to the development stress that nothing has been formally confirmed. However, the buzz surrounding the project has already ensured that all eyes are firmly on Ananya, with many keen to see whether this mystery shoot translates into a major luxury association or an entrepreneurial leap.

On the film front, Ananya Panday was recently seen reuniting with Kartik Aaryan in Tu Mera Main Teri Main Teri Tu Mera, which hit theatres on December 25. Looking ahead, the actress has Chand Mera Dil lined up alongside Lakshya and is also set to return as Bella in Call Me Bae 2. In addition, she is reportedly juggling a few unannounced projects, further underlining her busy slate.

Whether it’s a high-profile jewellery collaboration or something entirely unexpected, Ananya Panday’s latest move has undeniably captured industry attention, making it one of the most closely watched developments in the fashion and entertainment space right now.

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 5 to reunite OG cast with FIRST-EVER female villain: Report

The much‑anticipated fifth instalment of the Golmaal franchise is shaping up to be a fresh and bold entry in the popular comedy series, with new elements including a fantasy‑inspired tone and a female antagonist. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the upcoming film marks a new creative direction for the long‑running ensemble franchise that began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006.

According to a report by PTI, Golmaal 5 will bring back the familiar team of mischief‑prone characters led by Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu, with Sharman Joshi rejoining the cast this time — reviving a connection to the original film.

An insider told the news agency that the new chapter is more than just another comedic romp: “The fifth part is going to be a fantasy comedy.” This suggests that the film will blend the franchise’s signature humour with elements of fantasy or surreal storytelling, potentially raising the stakes beyond the prank‑filled situational comedy of earlier editions.

One of the biggest twists in Golmaal 5 is the plan to introduce the franchise’s first female villain. While casting discussions are reportedly still underway, makers have chosen to write the story in a way that places a woman in the negative role — breaking new ground for the series. “This story was written in a manner that the negative character is (played by) a woman,” the insider explained.

Alongside the core cast, familiar supporting actors such as Johnny Lever, Ashwini Kaleshkar, Mukesh Tiwari and Sanjay Mishra are also expected to return, ensuring that the distinctive comic flavour of the series is preserved.

Over nearly two decades, the Golmaal franchise has built a reputation for chaotic humour and quirky characters who find themselves in absurd situations. With Golmaal 5, the shift toward fantasy could broaden the film’s visual and narrative palette while keeping its heart in the same mischief‑driven comedy that audiences have enjoyed.

Saif Ali Khan reveals he bought rights to Nilanjana Roy’s Black River for film adaptation; calls it “emotional piece”

Saif Ali Khan has never shied away from speaking about his love for literature, and in a recent conversation with Esquire India, the actor offered rare insight into the books that have left a lasting impact on him—stories that are poetic, emotional, and deeply reflective of society and history.

Speaking about a novel that struck a particularly strong chord, Saif revealed that Black River by Nilanjana Roy is among his most cherished reads. Describing it as far more than a conventional crime novel, he said, “It’s kind of a police procedural murder mystery, but it’s also really emotional and kind of moving about the murder of a very young little girl.” The actor added that the story resonated with him so deeply that he went on to acquire the rights to the book.

“I love the story so much that I bought the rights to the book and we're trying to make a movie out of it,” Saif shared, while acknowledging that the adaptation process is taking time. He described the novel as “lyrical,” “dramatic,” and “really poetic, beautiful,” noting that its emotional weight extends beyond the mystery. Quoting the book’s description, he added, “It’s kind of like an ode to an India that might not exist anymore… quite an emotional piece as well.”

Saif also spoke about his fondness for ghost stories, particularly those rooted in strong literary tradition. One of his favourites is Japanese Ghost Stories by Lafcadio Hearn. Reflecting on the author’s life and writing, Saif said, “I love very well-written ghost stories,” before elaborating on Hearn’s journey from Ireland to Japan and his deep immersion in Japanese culture.

“He would retell famous Japanese ghost stories, but in this amazing, amazing poetic prose,” Saif noted, calling the collection one of his favourite books. For him, the appeal lies not just in the supernatural elements but in the emotional depth and literary elegance with which these stories are told.

Another book that left a strong impression on the actor is Pandora’s Jar by Natalie Haynes, which offers a feminist reinterpretation of women in Greek mythology. Saif described it as “a kind of feminist take on all the famous women in Greek myth and history,” including figures like Medusa, who have long been portrayed as monstrous through a male-centric lens.

Discussing Medusa in particular, Saif said, “She was a beautiful girl, and she was raped in this temple. And then she was punished for being raped in the temple… And she's viewed as a monster.” He added that this reframing of mythological narratives made a deep impact on him, concluding, “I've always felt something for her.”

Through these choices, Saif Ali Khan’s reading list reveals a clear pattern—stories that challenge dominant narratives, explore emotional truths, and offer layered perspectives on culture, history, and humanity.

Manish Gupta slams Akshaye Khanna for his ‘unprofessional behavior’ during Section 375, also accuses Kumar Mangat Pathak for ‘removing’ him as the film’s director as per Dhurandhar actor’s demand

A couple of days ago, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak spoke about his bad experience with Akshaye Khanna, which eventually led to the latter replaced by Jaideep Ahlawat in Drishyam 3, in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama. Now, writer-director Manish Gupta has spoken about his experience with Khanna while working on Section 375.

Akshaye Khanna worked with you in Section 375. What was that experience like? In 2017, Akshaye signed my film Section 375 with me as director-writer and Kumar Mangat as producer. His fee was fixed at Rs. 2 crores. He took an advance of Rs. 21 lakhs, and he signed a contract with us. But suddenly, he gave away the dates he’d committed to us to another movie The Accidental Prime Minister and he flew off to London to shoot that movie, leaving me and my crew waiting idle for six months!

He left you stranded for six months? That’s right. Then, after finishing that movie, Akshaye came back and started demanding Rs. 3.25 crores. instead of the Rs. 2 crores signed by him in the contract. His thus breached his contract. Akshaye’s unreasonable demands did not end here.

What were his other demands? He wanted to fully control the film and wanted everything done his way. But I am not the sort of director who gives in to the whims of any actor. I stood up to Akshaye’s unreasonable behaviour. But sadly, in Bollywood, most directors bend to every wish of the actor.

That is true. Akshaye was just following the A-listers who direct the director Since it was hurting Akshaye’s ego to take orders from an authoritarian director like me, he started pestering the producer Kumar Mangat to remove me as the director of the film and give the entire control of the film to him (Akshaye) instead.

But the film has Ajay Bahl’s name as director? Producer Kumar Mangat, instead of disciplining the actor’s unreasonable behaviour, instead made me a scapegoat and removed me as the director while seizing my fully-written bound script and the hard drive containing my three years of hard work on the pre-production.

Didn’t you take them to court? I warned Akshaye that I would drag him to court, and I sent two legal notices to producer Kumar Mangat. My lawyers Naik Naik & Co. were filing a case at Bombay High Court against both of them, but Kumar Mangat promptly did an out-of-court settlement with me. Today, ironically when producer Kumar Mangat is facing the brunt of Akshaye’s unethical behaviour in an Ajay Devgan starrer film Drishyam 3, Mangat has taken legal action against Akshaye.

Do you feel, like I do, that Akshaye Khanna’s performance in Dhurandhar is over-hyped? Akshaye is no doubt a brilliant actor. I am only pointing out his lack of ethics. Akshaye’s comeback film after a decade of anonymity was my film Section 375 but this is how he repaid me for giving him such a beautiful script. Anyway, Section 375’s credits carry my name as the solo writer of the ‘story, screenplay and dialogues’. So, the world knows that the film was solely my vision.

Ektaa R Kapoor slams Zee TV ahead of introducing new show titled Pavitra Rishta; addresses it as misuse of ‘established IP’

Recent reports suggesting that Zee TV is gearing up to launch a new show titled Pavitra Rishta have sparked controversy, with producer Ektaa R Kapoor openly expressing her displeasure over the use of the iconic name. While the original Pavitra Rishta remains deeply associated with Ankita Lokhande and the late Sushant Singh Rajput, who played Archana and Manav Deshmukh respectively, industry buzz indicates that the upcoming show will be a completely new story and not connected to the 2009 television classic.

Ektaa R Kapoor, who produced the original series under her banner Balaji Telefilms, took to social media to call out the makers for reusing the title. In a strongly worded post, she wrote, “When u can’t create an IP u feed on an established one of another creator!” She went on to further criticise the move, adding, “Terrible ethics or intellectual bankruptcy!!! Or both!!! Nothing Pavitra about it!!!”

The post quickly caught attention online. The producer revealed that she viewed this as an attempt to capitalise on the legacy of a beloved show. Pavitra Rishta, originally aired in 2009, went on to become one of Indian television’s most iconic dramas.

According to reports, the new - upcoming Zee TV show is expected to star Abrar Qazi, known for his work in Yeh Hai Chahatein, and Priyanshi Yadav, who played the female lead in shows like Pandya Store and Doree. The show is said to be helmed by Siddharttha Vankara and is reportedly a love story featuring an ensemble cast that includes Pallavi Pradhan and Roopa Divetia.

Further talking about the new Pavitra Rishta, it is slated to premiere on television in February. Meanwhile, the backlash surrounding the title has already stirred debate within industry circles and among audiences, many of whom continue to associate the name exclusively with Ektaa R Kapoor’s original creation.

However, while the makers of the new show have yet to issue an official statement addressing Ektaa Kapoor’s objections, the controversy has reignited discussions around intellectual property, originality and the ethics of reusing established titles in Indian television.

Aamir Khan and R Madhavan deny being approached for 3 Idiots sequel: "It also sounds far-fetched"

Of late, the internet is afire with reports on Rajlumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots acquiring a sequel. When this writer approached the two principal players in 3 Idiots Aamir Khan and R Madhavan they individually declared they had no clue of this development.

Said Madhavan, “A sequel to 3 Idiots sounds great. But it also sounds far-fetched. All three of us Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and I are much older now. Where do we go in the sequel? What are our lives like now? It is an interesting thought. But hardly conducive to a proper sequel. I would love to work with Raju Hirani again. But 3 Idiots again? I think that would be idiotic.”

Aamir Khan said that he is delighted by the thought of sequel to 3 Idiots. “We had so much fun making that film! My character Rancho is the most popular character I’ve played. People still talk about Rancho. So yeah, I’d love to do a sequel. But no one has approached me.”

One hopes this puts an end to the endless speculation on a sequel to a beloved film.

Sajid Khan undergoes surgery after on-set foot injury, confirms Farah Khan; shares health update

Bollywood filmmaker Sajid Khan was hospitalised over the weekend after sustaining an injury on a film set in Mumbai, and has since undergone successful surgery, his sister Farah Khan has confirmed. The incident occurred while Khan was shooting for a project produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, and prompted an immediate medical response from the production team.

According to reports, the director suffered a foot fracture during the course of filming on Saturday. He was promptly admitted to a hospital in the city, where medical professionals evaluated the injury and advised surgical intervention. Khan underwent the procedure on Sunday, and insiders say the operation was successful. Farah Khan — a filmmaker, choreographer, and Sajid’s sister — shared a health update on social media and with the media after the surgery. “The surgery is done, he is absolutely fine now,” she told Hindustan Times, reassuring fans and well-wishers about Khan’s condition. She added that he is currently resting and responding well to treatment, and is expected to recuperate before resuming his regular schedule. Sajid Khan, who recently turned 55, was preparing for a return to directing after a significant hiatus. His last directorial outing was the 2014 comedy Humshakals. Before that, he had garnered mainstream attention with projects such as HeyyBabyy (2007), Housefull (2010) and Housefull 2 (2012), which were commercial successes and helped cement his reputation in the comedy genre. Harshvardhan Rane to lead Ektaa R. Kapoor’s Shootout in Dubai: Report

Bollywood actor Harshvardhan Rane is being linked with the next chapter of the popular Shootout franchise, with multiple reports suggesting he may headline a new project titled Shootout in Dubai. While neither the makers nor Rane have officially confirmed the film, reports say plans are moving forward for the franchise’s first international instalment.

According to a Mid-Day report, Shootout in Dubai is envisioned as a fresh entry that takes the gritty crime series beyond Mumbai’s underworld and into a fictional crime narrative set against Dubai’s cosmopolitan backdrop. The film is said to be produced by Ektaa R. Kapoor in collaboration with veteran filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, who co-created the original Shootout films.

The Shootout franchise began with Shootout at Lokhandwala in 2007, a dramatized retelling of one of Mumbai’s most notorious police encounters, followed by Shootout at Wadala in 2013. Both films were produced by Kapoor and Gupta and built a reputation for stylized action rooted in real-life events.

The report indicates that multiple drafts of the script for Shootout in Dubai have been developed since 2021, with creators ensuring the screenplay retains the tense atmosphere and visceral impact that fans expect from the series. Unlike its predecessors, this edition is expected to be entirely fictional while still embracing the franchise’s signature action and dramatic intensity.

Rane’s association with such a project could mark a shift in his filmography. In recent years, he has become one of Bollywood’s more visible young leads, particularly after the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam and the 2025 romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat found commercial success.

At this stage, details such as the full cast, crew, and release timeline remain unverified. Neither the production house nor Harshvardhan Rane has released an official statement either confirming his role or the project’s progress. Fans and industry watchers will likely watch closely for future announcements or confirmations as the story develops.

REVEALED: Akshay Kumar-Vidya Balan-Anees Bazmee film to go on floors on January 19 in Mumbai; Dil Raju clarifies on Sankranthiki Vasthunam remake reports

2026 will kick off on a massy note for Akshay Kumar, as he’s all set to begin shooting for Anees Bazmee’s next entertainer. It has now emerged that the film will go on floors in the second half of January.

As per an Instagram post by Vickey Lalwani, the shooting will commence in Mumbai on January 19. Around two weeks ago, Anees Bazmee confirmed to Mid-Day that he is indeed reuniting with Akshay Kumar after Thank You (2011). He also said, “There is mutual love and respect between us. When I told him about this film, he was more than happy.”

A few days after this interview, it was reported that Vidya Balan will be paired opposite Akshay Kumar. Vickey Lalwani, in his post, revealed that he spoke to producer Dil Raju, who confirmed that Akshay and Vidya are indeed signed for the film.

It has been reported that the project is a remake of Sankranthiki Vasthunam (2025). Dil Raju told Vickey Lalwani that the Akshay-Anees film is not a remake per se and only the basic concept has been taken from the Venkatesh-starrer.

This project also marks Akshay and Vidya’s first on-screen collaboration in six years, following their successful work in Mission Mangal (2019).

Earlier, Bollywood Hungama reported that Anees Bazmee's next is expected to feature two prominent female characters, with Vidya playing one of the leads. While details about the second female role and storyline are still under wraps, insiders suggest it will balance humour, emotion, and strong character arcs, elements Bazmee and Akshay are both known for.

This film will be produced by Dil Raju’s banner, Sri Venkateswara Creations. Lastly, Sirish also confirmed that their esteemed production house will produce a film starring superstar Pawan Kalyan.

EXPLOSIVE: Kumar Mangat Pathak BLASTS Akshaye Khanna - "He insisted on a wig, signed an agreement, took advance and left Drishyam 3 just 10 days before the shoot; he has STOPPED taking my calls; success has gone into his head after Dhurandhar…I have sent him a legal notice"

Since a few days, there have been reports that Akshaye Khanna is not a part of Drishyam 3. Bollywood Hungama also reported on the same on December 26, creating a stir online. Now, Drishyam 3’s producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has spoken exclusively to Bollywood Hungama to set the record straight. The reputed producer complained of Akshaye’s unprofessionalism and also revealed that he plans to sue the Dhurandhar actor. He also confirmed that Jaideep Ahlawat has replaced Akshaye.

Kumar Mangat Pathak began by saying, “We had signed an agreement with Akshaye Khanna. His fees also got locked after a lot of renegotiations from his side. He insisted that he would like to wear a wig. But (director) Abhishek Pathak convinced him that it wouldn’t be practical, as it would result in continuity issues since Drishyam 3 is a sequel. He understood his point and agreed to let go of that demand. However, the chamchas around him advised him that he would look smarter if he donned a wig. So, he again requested the same. Abhishek relented and was even ready to discuss this point with him. But then, he informed us that he doesn’t want to be a part of the film at all.”

Kumar Mangat Pathak added, “There was a time when Akshaye was nothing. That’s when I made Section 375 (2019) with him. Even then, so many people told us not to work with him because of his unprofessional behaviour. His energy on set is absolutely toxic. Section 375 got him recognition. Later, I signed him in Drishyam 2 (2022).  He has got all the big offers only after Drishyam 2. Uske pehle woh 3-4 saal tak ghar pe baitha hua tha.”

He remarked, “Also, it’s important to note that the Drishyam franchise is fronted by Ajay Devgn. Chhaava is a Vicky Kaushal film along with Akshaye. The same goes for Dhurandhar – it's Ranveer Singh’s film. If Akshaye does a solo film, it won’t even collect Rs. 50 crores in India. Forget the lifetime, if he thinks he has become a superstar, then he should try mounting a superstar budget film with some studio and see who greenlights his film with that kind of budget. Some actors do ensemble cast films and after those movies become big hits, they start thinking that they are the star. That’s exactly what has happened with him. He thinks he’s a superstar now. Success has gone into his head. He told us, ‘Dhurandhar is working because of me’. He needs to understand that multiple factors worked in favour of Dhurandhar.”

Kumar Mangat Pathak then revealed, “When he heard the script in his Alibaug farmhouse, he liked it so much that he told us, ‘Yeh Rs. 500 crore ki film hai. Maine life mein aisi script nahin suni hai’. He even hugged Abhishek and the writer. Then, we had negotiations, after which we agreed on the fees. We even signed the agreement. He even got an advance while we paid the designer for his clothes. And then 10 days before his shoot, he declined to work on the film.”

Kumar Mangat Pathak stated, “Drishyam is a very big brand. It doesn’t matter whether he is in the film or not. Now, Jaideep Ahlawat has replaced him. By the grace of God, we have got a better actor than Akshaye and most importantly, we have got a better person than Akshaye as well. I had produced one of the first films of Jaideep's career, Aakrosh (2010).”

The producer then said, “I have suffered losses because of his behaviour. I am going to take legal action. I have already sent him a legal notice; he’s yet to reply to it.”

Finally, Kumar Mangat Pathak expressed astonishment over Akshaye’s demand for a wig. He said, “I was shocked. Drishyam 3 begins where Drishyam 2 ended. How can his character suddenly get hair? Is there any technology in the world that can grow hair within minutes?”

Jaideep Ahlawat replaces Akshaye Khanna in Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam 3

The much-anticipated third instalment of the Drishyam franchise appears to be undergoing a significant casting shake-up. If industry buzz is to be believed, Akshaye Khanna has exited Drishyam 3, and the makers have roped in Jaideep Ahlawat as his replacement in the Ajay Devgn-led thriller.

Not too long ago, reports had hinted at possible issues between Akshaye Khanna and the makers of Drishyam 3. While there was no official confirmation at the time, the latest developments suggest that the actor has indeed stepped away from the project. Reports now claim that Jaideep Ahlawat, who has been receiving widespread appreciation for his performances in Pataal Lok Season 2 and The Family Man Season 3, has been finalised to take his place.

Akshaye Khanna has been enjoying a strong resurgence at the box office, thanks to back-to-back projects where he portrayed layered, grey characters. He was recently seen as Aurangzeb in Chhaava and followed it up with a pivotal role in the recently released Dhurandhar. The latter, in particular, has reportedly performed exceptionally well at the box office, drawing both critical acclaim and audience appreciation for Khanna’s performance. According to industry sources, this renewed success may have prompted the actor to revise his remuneration.

Insiders suggest that the differences between Akshaye Khanna and the Drishyam 3 team were primarily related to fees, along with certain creative disagreements. However, it is worth noting that neither the actor nor the filmmakers have issued any official statement addressing these claims so far.

With Jaideep Ahlawat now said to be on board, the makers seem keen on maintaining the franchise’s tradition of introducing formidable new characters. Akshaye Khanna had joined Drishyam 2 as IG Tarun Ahlawat, a character that was not part of the original film and played a crucial role in elevating the narrative stakes. Now it is believed that Jaideep’s character in Drishyam 3 is also likely to be introduced afresh, rather than being a direct continuation of Khanna’s role.

Given Jaideep Ahlawat’s track record of portraying intense, morally complex characters, expectations are high regarding how his presence could add a new dimension to the suspense drama. While an official announcement is awaited, this casting change has already sparked considerable curiosity around Drishyam 3, which remains one of the most awaited Bollywood sequels in the pipeline.

BREAKING: Mumbai's BIGGEST birthday billboard - Being Human lights up Sea Link for Salman Khan's 60th, an honour reserved for the RARE few

Mumbai doesn’t hand out its biggest “respect signals” casually. And when the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, one of the city’s most iconic, most visible landmarks, glows with a tribute, it instantly becomes more than just a birthday wish. It becomes a statement.

On the eve of Salman Khan turning 60 tomorrow (December 27), Being Human has put up a striking, larger-than-life salute at the Sea Link, turning the nightly skyline into a celebration of a man who has remained a constant in India’s pop culture for decades. In a city where stars come and go with Friday box office swings, Salman has built something rarer: longevity that feels personal to generations, across single screens, multiplexes, and now the social-media age.

What makes this moment especially notable is the venue itself. The Sea Link isn’t just a bridge—it’s Mumbai’s postcard, a symbol of the city’s pace and pride. Very few initiatives or messages get honoured in this manner at this location, and that scarcity is precisely what elevates the gesture. When a tribute appears here, it’s because it’s meant to be seen, remembered, and talked about by commuters, by fans, and by the city at large.

For Salman Khan, the tribute also fits the larger picture. Being Human has long been associated with philanthropy and public impact, and this Sea Link moment blends stardom with that identity: a reminder that beyond the superstar image is a brand and a presence that has extended into social work, youth aspiration, and cultural influence.

At 60, Salman Khan isn’t just being wished. He’s being showcased on Mumbai’s biggest canvas. And that, in itself, is an achievement very few ever receive.

Also, all eyes are now on Salman Khan’s next big-screen move. The superstar is set to headline Battle Of Galwan, and going by the buzz, the teaser is expected to drop on his birthday, making December 27 not just a landmark personal milestone, but also a date that could double up as the next major announcement moment for fans. If that teaser arrives as expected, it will be the perfect one-two punch: Mumbai’s skyline celebrating the man, and the man returning the love by unveiling a glimpse of what’s next.

The comic caper Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, starring Kapil Sharma, managed to get a near-unanimous positive reaction from the audience. The film was appreciated for Kapil's performances and also for its jokes that landed well, a rarity in today's times. A few hours ago, the makers of the film announced that ‘its theatrical run was impacted by limited screen availability due to ongoing multiplex takeovers by other releases’. Hence, it’ll be withdrawn from cinemas and will be re-released in January 2026.

Bollywood Hungama spoke exclusively with Ratan Jain of Venus Worldwide Entertainment. He also categorically made it clear, “I am not blaming anybody. If the other film is working well, they would obviously not want to reduce their shows. Yeh unka haq hai. I am not blaming the multiplexes either, as they were justified in their stand. They will always support a big film or one that is excelling successfully.”

When asked about the exact date for the re-release in January 2026, Ratan Jain said, “By Monday or Tuesday, I’ll announce the date.”

Besides Kapil Sharma, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 starred Manjot Singh, Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Akhilendra Mishra, Vipin Sharma, Sushant Singh, Jamie Lever, Smita Jaykar, Supriya Shukla and the late Asrani. Written and directed by Anukalp Goswami, it tells the story of a man who dreams of marrying his girlfriend. But he ends up marrying three women three times, while his girlfriend disappears.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is presented by Star Studio18 and Venus Worldwide Entertainment in association with Abbas Mustan Films Production, and is produced by Ratan Jain, Ganesh Jain and Abbas-Mustan.

The original film, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015), was directed by Abbas-Mustan. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Anukalp Goswami said, “I expressed the desire to direct the film. They supported me fully…When the film went on floors, Abbas-Mustan and their brother and editor Hussain bhai (Hussain A Burmawala) were present. The trio told me, ‘Tujhe kisi cheez ki tension lene ki zaroorat nahin hai’. They also provided me with a great team. Thanks to these efforts, we were able to deliver a fine product.”

Is Shah Rukh Khan joining Rajinikanth in Jailer 2? Details inside!

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has set social media abuzz with remarks hinting that Shah Rukh Khan could appear alongside Rajinikanth in the upcoming Tamil film Jailer 2, slated for a June 2026 release. In a recent interview, Chakraborty not only confirmed parts of the star-studded cast but also described his own role in the film, a sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer.

While speaking with Siti Cinema, Chakraborty remarked that his next project was Jailer 2, “where everybody is against me.” He went on to list several prominent actors, saying, “Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shah Rukh Khan, Ramya Krishnan, Shiva Rajkumar, all their characters are against me.”

If true, this would mark the first time Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth share screen space in a theatrical film. Though both superstars appeared in the 2011 movie Ra.One — in which Rajinikanth’s character Chitti from Enthiran was featured — they never directly acted opposite each other. Fans have been eagerly awaiting an official collaboration between the two icons, and Chakraborty’s comments have reignited excitement.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 reunites Rajinikanth with his 2023 co-star Ramya Krishnan. Earlier reports and actor statements have also hinted at the involvement of other celebrated artists, including Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vidya Balan and additional supporting cast members, suggesting a multi-layered narrative with several key characters.

Jailer 2 is expected to expand on the action and dramatic elements that made the first instalment popular. At the time of writing, there has been no official announcement from the Jailer 2 production regarding Shah Rukh Khan’s role.

EXCLUSIVE: The REAL reason Akshaye Khanna exited Drishyam 3 – Rs. 21 crore fee demand and more

A few days ago, the makers of Drishyam 3 announced that their highly anticipated film will be released on October 2, 2026. The press note mentioned the name of the leading actors of the film – Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor. Akshaye Khanna’s name was missing and it raised eyebrows. The actor is on a high after Dhurandhar and hence, fans were looking forward to seeing him in the next part of Drishyam, especially when he rocked the show in Drishyam 2 (2022). Meanwhile, reports emerged that he had walked out of the third part due to remuneration differences. Bollywood Hungama has now found more information about what led to his exit.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Akshaye was menacing as the villain in Chhaava, while he stole the show, and how, in Dhurandhar. He has become the next big thing. Realizing the same, he decided to revise his fees. Accordingly, he asked for Rs. 21 crores from the makers of Drishyam 3.”

The source continued, “The makers of Drishyam 3 were taken aback. They tried to reason with him that if he’s paid a bomb, the film would go over-budget. But Akshaye Khanna felt that he was justified in his demand. He knew that his presence now significantly enhanced the excitement for a film.”

Meanwhile, another source said, “We also heard that there were a few more fronts where Akshaye Khanna and the makers had a disagreement as well. One of them was that Akshaye suggested that he'd like to wear a wig. The makers were not comfortable with the idea, probably because he was without a wig in the second part.”

The earlier source then said, “Since Akshaye Khanna’s demands were not met, he decided to walk out of Drishyam 3. Of course, he wished the makers well. The parting happened on a good note and the makers hope to collaborate with Akshaye in future when they’ll be on the same page.”

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal set for Japan release in 2026; Rs 1000 crores mark back in play amid Dhurandhar storm

Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal is returning to theatres in a new market two years after its original release, with a Japanese release date now confirmed. The makers announced that the action drama will open in cinemas across Japan on February 13, 2026.

Production house Bhadrakali Films shared a specially designed poster for the Japanese audience on X (formerly Twitter), featuring Ranbir Kapoor’s intense portrayal of Ranvijay Singh, alongside a Japanese tagline that translates to “This man cannot be stopped.” The announcement highlighted the film as a memorable cinematic experience beyond its initial home market.

この男は誰にも止められない。🔥 Kono otoko wa Darenimo Tomerarenai🔥 The most talked-about, debated, and unforgettable cinematic experience is coming to Japan.🪓

— Bhadrakali Pictures (@VangaPictures) December 24, 2025

Animal was originally released in India in December 2023 and became a significant commercial success. It earned around Rs 553 crores net domestically and approximately Rs 915 crores worldwide, finishing its initial run among the top-grossing Indian films of all time.

With the Japanese release, the film now has an opportunity to push its worldwide total closer to, or beyond, the Rs 1000 crores mark. This benchmark has taken on added significance as Dhurandhar—the Ranveer Singh–led thriller directed by Aditya Dhar—has overtaken Animal’s global tally and is expected to finish its run between Rs 1000 crores and Rs 1100 crores globally.

Indian films have shown promising returns in Japan in recent years. RRR reportedly grossed over ¥2.4 billion (about Rs 150 crores) there, while KGF: Chapter 2 also delivered strong box office returns. If Animal replicates similar performance, it could significantly bolster its global revenue.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal features Ranbir Kapoor alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri in pivotal roles. Though commercially successful, the film drew debate for its depiction of violence and themes critics labeled as problematic. Supporters, including the director, maintained that those elements were intentional aspects of creative expression.

Night Song collaborates with Aamir Khan Productions for Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos; first track 'Banda Tere Liye' out!

Night Song, the full-spectrum music company known for shaping immersive soundscapes across celebrated films and series including Scam 1992, Jigra, Coke Studio’s renowned release ‘Khalasi’, The Buckingham Murders, Maati Season 1 and many more, announces its latest collaboration on the upcoming film Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos. Co-founded by Achint Thakkar and Parth Pandya, Night Song has composed and produced the music for the spy-comedy backed by Aamir Khan Productions, marking actor-comedian Vir Das’ directorial debut. The film is set to release on 16 January 2026.

For Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, Night Song was tasked with creating a sonic world that balances a spy drama with comedy, giving each track its own identity and purpose. The music amplifies the film’s narrative beats while keeping the tone fresh, witty, and engaging, ensuring every moment, from action to humor, is enhanced by the score.

A standout from the album is 'Banda Tere Liye,' a high-energy, cliche bending track that flips a familiar Bollywood trope by turning the man into the spectacle. Conceived as a rare male-led ‘anti-item song’ envisioned by director Vir Das, it positions the male character at the center of performance, an uncommon narrative choice in mainstream cinema. The creative process began not with a tune, but with the bold hook line itself, around which Night Song built the melody, rhythm, and sonic world. Blending club, funk, and alt-pop, the song is elevated by an earthy Indian instrumental hook that roots it in a rustic, almost village market place like setting, giving it a fresh, unexpected flavor.

Speaking about the collaboration, Night Song founders Achint Thakkar and Parth Pandya shared in a joint statement, “Creating the music for Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos was an exciting challenge for us. Each track was crafted to serve the story while staying true to our sound. Genre-bending songs like 'Banda Tere Liye' will hopefully go on to shape culture, while our Marathi rap Fckta Apan is sure to stick in the listener’s mind. We’re glad to have partnered with Vir, Kavi & Aamir Khan on a film that gave us so much creative freedom.”

Vir Das and Kavi Shastri, directors of Happy Patel, shared in a joint statement, “Night Song is a team we’ve wanted to collaborate with for a long time, and with Happy Patel, that opportunity finally came together. The album gave us the space to explore multiple genres within a single body of work, and they took our musical vision and elevated it in the best possible way. This certainly won’t be the last collaboration between us, and Night Song.”

The collaboration with Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos marks an important milestone for Night Song as it continues to expand its footprint across Indian cinema, working with leading production houses while carving out a strong creative identity of its own.

The soundtrack of Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos features 12 tracks, including 5 full-length songs and 7 songettes.

Sharvari’s all-white ballet look gets a pop-culture twist with an Emily in Paris–bag

Fashion’s current obsession with softness, volume and translucence finds a natural expression in Sharvari’s all-white look, worn with an ease that feels instinctive rather than styled. The ensemble pairs a fitted bralette with a balloon, ballet-inspired skirt, its rounded silhouette introducing movement and drama through lightness rather than excess. Leaning into fashion’s fascination with fluid form and sculptural proportion, the look feels considered yet effortless, delicate in appearance, but anchored by structure.

The styling follows a similarly restrained approach. Hair is worn loose and natural, makeup kept fresh and minimal, allowing Sharvari’s features and the lightness of the outfit to take centre stage. There’s an effortlessness to the way she carries the look, lending it a quietly confident, undeniably alluring finish.

What elevates the look into recognisable fashion territory is the accessory. Sharvari carries the Kate Barton clear acrylic fishbowl bag, a sculptural, conversation-starting piece that has already secured its place in pop-culture fashion lore. The bag made its memorable appearance on Emily in Paris (Season 5, Episode 5, “Bonjour, Paris!”), instantly cementing its status as a cult object prized for its playful, art-driven design.

Set against the softness of the white ensemble, the bag adds a sharp, editorial contrast. It introduces wit and fashion intelligence, grounding the look in a globally relevant style conversation and signalling awareness of one of the season’s most talked-about accessories.

The bralette and skirt, both by @pinkporcupines, reinforce the look’s balance of structure and ease, a pairing that feels intentional, contemporary and quietly sexy. Worn with restraint and confidence, the styling makes a strong case for simplicity done well, where clean silhouettes and one unmistakable statement piece come together to leave a lasting impression.

EXCLUSIVE: In a RARE development, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri front-row seats priced HIGHER than back rows at PVR Oberoi Mall, Goregaon and yet SOLD OUT

Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, is all set to release tomorrow. The advance booking has picked up since Monday night and the romcom is all set to take a decent start at the box office. Interestingly, an interesting development has happened, probably for the first time ever, with Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.

It’s generally understood that in most multiplexes, the front-row seats are priced the lowest, and the ticket rates steadily rise as you move towards the middle and back rows. But in the case of PVR Oberoi Mall Goregaon East, the unthinkable has happened. Here, you’ll have to shell out a higher price if you want to see the musical entertainer in the first three rows. But your ticket will be cheaper if you select the middle or the back rows!

For the 8:00 am and 10:45 am show of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri on December 25, the first three rows, which come under the Classic category, are available for Rs. 370. But the Prime Class tickets are sold for Rs. 290.

For the 1:50 pm show of the film, Classic seats are sold for Rs. 430 while Prime Class tickets are available for Rs. 350. For the shows at 4:55 pm, 8:00 pm and 11:05 pm, one will have to shell out Rs. 540 for Classic seats and Rs. 460 for Prime Seats.

Interestingly, despite the tickets being in the front row and despite the higher rates, most of them are sold out or almost full. An exhibition source explained to Bollywood Hungama, “Since the tickets of the front row were fast-filling, the dynamic pricing came into play, and its rates went up.”

However, the exhibition source agreed, “This is unusual and probably happened for the first time ever as far as I remember.”

Chiranjeevi–Mohanlal collaboration confirmed; Bobby Kolli reunites with megastar

Chiranjeevi and director Bobby Kolli, who earlier collaborated on Waltair Veerayya, are all set to reunite for their second project together. Multiple sources reveal that Mohanlal will join Chiranjeevi for the first time in his career. The two legends have long expressed deep admiration for each other’s work and often meet socially whenever they are in the same city.

Surprisingly, no one has previously attempted to bring Mohanlal and Chiranjeevi together on screen, making this collaboration a historic first for Indian cinema.

Shedding more light on the project, a source reveals, “Chiranjeevi plays the lead, while Mohanlal makes a powerful entry midway through the film—much like Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic appearance in Andha Kanoon.”

Akshaye Khanna walks out of Drishyam 3 over remuneration differences after Dhurandhar success: Report

Akshaye Khanna is currently enjoying a strong career resurgence, thanks to his power-packed performance in Dhurandhar. The actor has been widely praised for his restrained yet impactful screen presence, and the success of the recently released Ranveer Singh–starrer spy drama has firmly placed him back in the spotlight. Adding to this momentum, Khanna was also part of another blockbuster of 2025 — Chhaava as the lead antagonist— further consolidating his standing as one of the most reliable performers in the industry today.

With this renewed demand, it comes as little surprise that Akshaye Khanna has reportedly revised his remuneration. However, this fee hike may have had a ripple effect on one of the most anticipated films currently in production — Drishyam 3. For the unversed, Akshaye played a crucial role in Drishyam 2, the Hindi adaptation of the popular Malayalam thriller franchise led by Ajay Devgn and Tabu. His character added a significant narrative layer to the sequel, with audiences eagerly anticipating his return in the third installment.

However, according to a report by Bollywood Machine, the makers of Drishyam 3 were reportedly not prepared to meet Akshaye Khanna’s revised fee expectations. The report further claims that apart from financial negotiations, there may also be creative differences between the actor and the makers, which could have contributed to his reported decision to step away from the project.

That said, the situation may still be fluid. The same report suggests that this may not be a final call, as Akshaye Khanna is said to be in ongoing discussions with the makers to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution. Whether the actor ultimately continues with the franchise remains to be seen, but his involvement would undoubtedly add to the further intrigue surrounding the film.

Meanwhile, Drishyam 3 has already generated considerable buzz. Recently, the makers unveiled an announcement video featuring Ajay Devgn’s voiceover, teasing audiences about what lies ahead in the next chapter of the much-loved thriller. The film is being made simultaneously in Malayalam, with the original version expected to release first. The Hindi adaptation is slated to hit cinemas on October 2, 2026 — a date that holds special significance for the Drishyam franchise.

In addition to Ajay Devgn, Drishyam 3 will also star Tabu, Shriya Saran and Ishita Dutta in key roles. As fans await further updates, all eyes are now on whether Akshaye Khanna will return to the franchise that played a pivotal role in his recent cinematic journey.

Thalapathy Vijay, Bobby Deol starrer Jana Nayagan gets Hindi title Jan Neta as makers gear up for Pongal release

The makers of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming and much-anticipated film Jana Nayagan have officially announced its Hindi title as Jan Neta. Alongside the title reveal, it has been confirmed that Zee Studios will handle the film’s release across North India, marking a significant step in positioning the project as a major pan-Indian theatrical event. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on January 9, 2026.

To mark the announcement, a new poster featuring Thalapathy Vijay and Bobby Deol was unveiled. The visual presents an intense face-off between the two actors, set against a backdrop of fire, destruction and large-scale unrest. The imagery points towards a narrative rooted in political conflict and ideological confrontation, suggesting that the drama will extend beyond physical action into questions of power, belief and consequence.

In the poster, Vijay appears in a rugged, restrained avatar, projecting a grounded and resolute presence, while Bobby Deol is seen in a commanding, militaristic look that adds weight and tension to the conflict. The setting, complete with helicopters and widespread chaos, hints at a story unfolding on a national scale, with political and emotional stakes at its core.

KVN Productions, which is backing the film, shared the poster on social media with the caption, “Aavoo together bhaiya bhaiya to witness his one last dance.” The project has already generated strong momentum, with reports of record-breaking pre-sales in several overseas markets, reflecting the significant anticipation surrounding the film’s release.

Shahid Kapoor to wrap up O Romeo shoot with 10-day patch schedule in Mumbai: Report

As 2025 draws to a close, the year stands out as a surprising one for the Indian film industry, marked by several sleeper hits. While the year is set to end with Kartik Aaryan’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, anticipation around a slate of 2026 releases is steadily building. One of the most keenly awaited among them is Shahid Kapoor’s fourth collaboration with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, O Romeo.

The makers appear keen to wrap up filming quickly, with the final leg of the shoot scheduled to begin on December 28. The team is unlikely to take a break for New Year celebrations, as Bhardwaj plans to kick off a 10-day patch shoot at Vrundavan Studios in Malad.

According to a report by Mid-Day, this phase will include action sequences and dialogue-heavy scenes. A source quoted by the publication revealed, “It’s a patch shoot, with some action and dialogue-heavy scenes lined up.” The report further stated that the first two days will largely focus on Shahid Kapoor’s portions, while co-stars Triptii Dimri and Randeep Hooda will not be required during this phase.

Following a brief New Year break, the production is expected to resume with an additional eight-day shoot in January 2026. This schedule will reportedly involve crowd scenes and sequences using body doubles. “If required, the actors may be asked to report for a day or two,” the source added. Meanwhile, post-production work on the action thriller is already underway to ensure the film stays on track for its February 13 release.

Vijay Ganguly breaks silence on Dhurandhar song ‘Shararat’ casting; says Tamannaah Bhatia was never considered

Choreographer Vijay Ganguly has addressed the recent buzz surrounding the song ‘Shararat’ from Dhurandhar, firmly clarifying that Tamannaah Bhatia was never under consideration for the sequence. His statement comes in response to headlines and online chatter suggesting that the actress was “rejected” for the song—a claim he has categorically dismissed.

Taking to social media, Ganguly expressed disappointment over how conversations around creative decisions often get distorted. He highlighted how selective framing and sensationalised language can divert attention away from the craft itself. “I genuinely enjoy conversations around cinema and the many layers that go into making a film. That said, I've often refrained from putting myself out there because, at times, words get selectively lifted, misquoted or sensationalised to serve headlines rather than the craft. It's unfortunate that instead of the conversation staying on the song and the creative intent behind ‘Shararat’, the focus has shifted to comparisons between two wonderful artists, with strong and reductive terms like ‘rejections’ being used - something that was never the spirit of what was shared,” he wrote.

Ganguly went on to reiterate the collaborative nature of filmmaking and urged for a more nuanced understanding of creative choices. “Cinema is collaborative. It thrives on respect, nuance and context. I hope we can keep the spotlight where it belongs - on the work and the many people who pour their hearts into it,” he added.

Putting speculation to rest, the choreographer clearly explained why Tamannaah Bhatia was not part of the discussion for ‘Shararat’. “To clarify: Tamannaah Bhatia was never under consideration because her star power is so significant it might have overwhelmed the specific needs of this scene. In Dhurandhar, the music is woven into a high-stakes moment where the tension is key. The makers opted for two performers to keep the focus on the story's progression. This choice was about protecting the film's atmosphere and ensuring the narrative remains the hero of the sequence,” Ganguly stated.

His clarification effectively counters claims of rejection, instead highlighting that casting decisions are driven by storytelling requirements and tonal balance, rather than notions of acceptance or refusal. The emphasis, according to Ganguly, was on ensuring that the song served the film’s tension and narrative momentum without distraction.

Meanwhile, Tamannaah Bhatia continues to receive widespread appreciation for her recent work. She was last seen in The Ba***ds of Bollywood, where her song ‘Ghafoor’ has been trending across social media platforms, reinforcing her strong screen presence and popularity.

With Ganguly’s statement now on record, the focus returns to the creative intent of Dhurandhar —underlining a key filmmaking truth that every casting choice is ultimately about serving the story, not sidelining star power.

Now, Salman Khan will turn 60 this Saturday, December 27, and as expected, fans are already in celebratory mood. What would make this year’s birthday extra special is that the teaser of his upcoming film, Battle Of Galwan, will be out on Salman’s big day.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The team of the film has been working on the teaser for some time. They feel that December 27 is an apt time to release the asset. It’ll introduce the world of Battle Of Galwan and give the audience an idea about the grandeur and scale of the film. It’ll also depict Salman Khan in all its glory, which the fans are sure to lap up.”

The source further said, “Before the teaser is out, the makers will be dropping one or two posters of Battle Of Galwan as well.” When asked about it, the source confessed that he doesn’t have clarity on that front. He said, “It should be out either on December 25 or December 26, and it’ll be followed by the launch of the teaser.”

Besides Salman Khan, Battle Of Galwan also stars Chitrangda Singh. Salman plays the role of Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu in this film, which is based on a chapter in the book ‘India’s Most Fearless 3’ (2022), authored by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. The film is inspired by the events of June 15, 2020, when Indian and Chinese soldiers clashed in the Galwan Valley during the COVID-19 pandemic. This confrontation was part of a larger border standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). It is directed by Apoorva Lakhia of Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007) fame.

Nora Fatehi says she is “Alive and Well” after car accident caused by drunk driving: “That could have ended terribly”

Nora Fatehi recently opened up about the frightening moments surrounding the serious car accident she was involved in earlier this year, an incident that left her with a concussion and temporarily halted her professional commitments. Recalling the experience, the actor-dancer described how the crash unfolded suddenly, leaving her disoriented and shaken.

As previously reported, the accident occurred when a drunk driver rammed into the car Nora was travelling in while she was on her way to attend the Sunburn Festival in Mumbai, where she was scheduled to appear alongside DJ and music producer David Guetta. Following the collision, her team immediately rushed her to the nearest hospital. Doctors conducted a CT scan to rule out internal bleeding, after which she was diagnosed with a concussion and advised rest.

Speaking about the incident, Nora said, “Hey guys, I'm just coming here to tell you that I am okay. Yes, I was in a really serious car accident. A drunk person who was driving under the influence smashed my car, and unfortunately, the impact was quite severe, and it flung me across the car. I bashed my head on the window.”

Sharing her health update, Nora asserted, “I'm alive, and I'm well. Except for some minor injuries, swelling, and a slight concussion, I'm okay. I'm grateful for that. That could have ended terribly, but I came to say this to say that this is why you should not drink and drive.I hate alcohol to begin with. In fact, I am not someone who has ever liked the idea of alcohol or anything like that, such as drugs, weed, anything that puts you in a different state of mind... It is not something I promote or even enjoy being around.”

She further continued, “You should not drink and drive. It's 2025. I cannot believe that this is even a conversation. I can't believe that this is even a scenario that has to happen. At 3 p.m. in the afternoon, I could never imagine someone would be driving under the influence and putting people in harm's way. Having said that, I just want to let everyone know I'm okay. I'm going to be suffering from pain for some time, but, thank God I am alive.”

A day later, Nora marked a strong return to the spotlight as she joined David Guetta on stage at Sunburn Festival 2025, turning what could have been a subdued comeback into one of the most talked-about moments of the event. Her appearance went beyond a symbolic gesture, as the duo teased their upcoming global single ‘Fire Starter,’ which also features Ciara. A high-energy remix of the track was played live, offering fans an early preview and generating immediate buzz.

The timing of the appearance aligned with a significant phase in Nora’s international journey. She recently made her U.S. television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing ‘What Do I Know’ (Just A Girl) with Shenseea, and also delivered a high-impact performance at UNTOLD Dubai. Together, these moments underline a steady expansion of her global footprint.

Fact Check: Reports of Kriti Sanon replacing Jacqueline Fernandez in Kick 2 are false!

Recent online reports claiming that actress Kriti Sanon is replacing Jacqueline Fernandez in Kick 2 are not true, according to a source close to the development.

The source said that stories suggesting that new casting decisions are already underway are completely baseless. “All reports doing the rounds about Kick 2, including speculation around casting changes, are completely false and baseless. No official details have been planned, and the makers will share information only when the time is right,” the source said.

This denial doesn’t mean the sequel won’t happen at all. Earlier updates confirmed that work on the Kick franchise is ongoing and the script has been in development, but there is no official plan at this time to share casting details.

Industry observers say that while Kick 2 remains a long anticipated sequel for fans of the 2014 blockbuster, official confirmation from the producers is still awaited, and speculation should be treated with caution until then.

Ahaan Panday CONFIRMS next film with Ali Abbas Zafar: “It’s being led by three people under the age of 30”

Ahaan Panday used the stage at the NDTV Indian of the Year 2025 to confirm his next film, revealing that he will soon be collaborating with filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar. Fresh off the success of his Bollywood debut Saiyaara, the actor spoke candidly about the project during a brief interaction with the host after accepting his award.

Confirming the development, Ahaan said, “It’s an Ali Abbas Zafar film. I don’t know if I should say too much. All I can say is it will start rolling very soon, in the next couple of months. It’s an action film. It’s being led by three people under the age of 30. It has been something that’s not been done for a very long time. For the rest, the audience will have to wait for it.” While he refrained from sharing further details, the confirmation put an end to months of speculation around his next project.

Buzz around Ahaan’s follow-up to Saiyaara first surfaced in October this year. Reports suggest that Sharvari will play the female lead, with Bobby Deol expected to be seen in an antagonist’s role. The film is also said to be backed by Yash Raj Films, marking another collaboration between the production house and a young lead actor. According to reports, the actioner is expected to go on floors in March 2026, with the United Kingdom being one of the primary shooting locations.

Earlier in the evening, while accepting the Debutant Actor of the Year award, Ahaan took a moment to acknowledge the people who shaped his debut journey. Speaking about his Saiyaara co-star, he said, “I learned so much from Aneet, and I owe a lot to her. My growth on Saiyaara, I owe to Mohit Suri, but also to Aneet Padda.” Reflecting on their shared approach to storytelling, he added, “I remember telling her that whatever happens, all that matters is that one person leaves the cinema hall feeling something. That they're moved. That's our job as artists.”

With his next film set to move into production soon, Ahaan Panday appears poised to transition quickly from a successful debut to a large-scale action project.

Fact Check: Is Shah Rukh Khan–Deepika Padukone’s song from King really leaked? Here’s the truth!

A viral video purporting to show a leaked romantic song from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's upcoming actioner King has been debunked as an AI-generated fan edit, sparking frenzy before users spotted visual inconsistencies like unnatural transitions.

The clip, shared widely on social media, depicted the duo in an intense embrace with soulful music and romantic lyrics, mimicking SRK's reported film look and Deepika in glamorous outfits to create the illusion of an official sequence. No official footage, song, or teaser from King has been released, confirming the content as fabricated despite its polished appearance.

KING SONG LEAKED Who tf made this 😭 pic.twitter.com/6piFMvgSj7 — Sameer (@sameerahmadx) December 18, 2025

The edit highlights advancing AI tools blurring real and fake content lines, with some praising creativity while others raised misinformation concerns amid high anticipation for SRK-Deepika's reunion post-Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, and Pathaan. Makers have stayed silent on the video.

Shah Rukh Khan returns to filming King on December 20 after a six-week break, entering the most demanding action-heavy schedule with stylized sequences and dramatic confrontations planned by director Siddharth Anand and international stunt directors at Film City, Goregaon. Suhana Khan joins her father on screen for the first time, alongside Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, and Abhishek Bachchan, as SRK prepares extensively for the technically challenging shoot. The first look, unveiled on SRK's 60th birthday in November, set expectations for ambitious grounded combat.

Ram Gopal Varma gets emotional over Aditya Dhar’s praise; says, “I feel like crying”

Aditya Dhar’s heartfelt encomium to Ram Gopal Varma calling him a major source of inspiration has left the filmmaker deeply emotional. Dhar had written, “I came to Mumbai years ago carrying one suitcase, one dream, and an unreasonable belief that I would one day work under Ram Gopal Varma. That never happened. But somewhere along the way, without knowing it, I worked inside your cinema. Your films didn’t teach me how to make movies they taught me how to think dangerously.”

Speaking to this writer, Ram Gopal Varma says, “I just spoke to Aditya. We had a long conversation. I feel like crying. When someone like Rajamouli or Aditya tells me that I have inspired them, I feel like that Liril soap ad from the 1970s which made the model Karen Lunel famous. But what about the soap itself?”

Varma believes that Dhurandhar has fundamentally altered the grammar of Indian filmmaking. “Like I said in my tweet, it is a quantum leap for Indian cinema, and we must celebrate its success rather than bitch about its politics. Who cares about its politics as long as it is a work that takes our cinema forward?”

EXCLUSIVE: Dhurandhar completes its glorious run in IMAX as Avatar: Fire And Ash takes over; single screens, Gaiety-Galaxy SKIP Hollywood biggie; continue with Ranveer Singh-starrer

Dhurandhar, which is all set to become the biggest hit of the year, enters the third week of its release today. The film overperformed in its second week and is now all set for another huge week from today. The Ranveer Singh-starrer also had a release in the IMAX version. However, its IMAX run ended yesterday, on December 18.

This is because Avatar: Fire And Ash has now taken over all the IMAX screens across India and also the world. Directed by James Cameron, the fantasy drama is known for its spellbinding visuals. Hence, it makes for an ideal watch in IMAX theatres. It's no wonder that its shows in the IMAX cinemas got filled first.

Nevertheless, Dhurandhar had a glorious run in the IMAX version. The film also had a big screen appeal which enticed people to check it out in IMAX. Interestingly, the film didn’t get a release in IMAX on the day of its release due to late delivery of prints. But once the issue settled, the film managed to score big time in the wide-screen cinemas.

Avatar vs Dhurandhar update

Yesterday, Bollywood Hungama had reported that the advance booking in several one-screen and two-screen cinemas had not begun for shows from December 19 due to show-sharing issues between Avatar: Fire And Ash and Dhurandhar.

As per a trade source, “Disney, the studio releasing Avatar: Fire And Ash, has asked single-screen theatres that they want all shows for their film. In two-screen cinemas, they have asked for 5 or 6 shows. However, exhibitors are not comfortable with this directive as Dhurandhar is running very successfully. They are confident that even in its third week, the Ranveer Singh-starrer will find a huge audience, as evident by the steady footfalls the film has generated in the weekdays.”

The matter was expected to be resolved. Sadly, that hasn’t happened. The trade source informed Bollywood Hungama, “Disney was adamant about getting all shows for Avatar: Fire And Ash while the single screens requested for show sharing. With no other option, single-screen cinemas had to give up on the plan to play Avatar: Fire And Ash. Late Thursday night, they opened the advance booking and have decided to continue playing Dhurandhar with all shows until December 24.”

The only exception is PVR Le Reve, Bandra, formerly known as Globus Cinema. It’ll play Avatar: Fire And Ash with two shows a day, at 8:00 am and 7:20 pm, while Dhurandhar will be played by 11:40 am, 3:30 pm and 11:00 pm. In other words, PVR Le Reve is one of the few single screens in the whole of India that will play the James Cameron directorial.

On the other hand, all the two-screen cinemas of Mumbai have allotted 3 shows to Avatar: Fire And Ash and the remaining 6 shows to Dhurandhar.

Finally, those hoping to watch Avatar: Fire And Ash at Mumbai’s iconic G7 complex, popularly known as Gaiety-Galaxy, might be disappointed. Until December 18, bookings for Galaxy and Gemini were not opened, fuelling hope that the James Cameron directorial would find a slot in one of the two screens. However, late Thursday night, bookings for all screens were opened, and there was no listing for Avatar: Fire And Ash. Dhurandhar will continue to play in Gaiety and Galaxy, the complex’s biggest screens, while Gemini will play four shows of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga cancels New Year break to wrap Prabhas’ Spirit early: Report

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has shelved his New Year’s break plans in order to push ahead with filming on his highly anticipated cop action drama Spirit, starring Prabhas, Triptii Dimri and Vivek Oberoi. The decision was taken to fast-track production so the project can meet its planned mid-2027 release timeframe, according to a report by Mid-Day.

Originally, Spirit was scheduled to shoot its first schedule through December and then pause for a New Year break. However, Vanga and his team decided to continue filming through the New Year’s week, with production now expected to run until at least the first week of January before a short pause. The report quoted a source close to the film revealing that the director called off holiday plans in a bid to wrap up the shoot ahead of schedule.

The movie marks Vanga’s first collaboration with both Prabhas and Vivek Oberoi. Insiders say the director is planning distinctive looks for the stars — a move reminiscent of how Vanga’s previous film Animal presented Bobby Deol in an unexpected avatar — indicating that Spirit will continue the filmmaker’s signature visual and narrative style.

Spirit began shooting on November 27 in Hyderabad, and the extended schedule means the cast and crew are now working through late December and into January to keep the production on track.

As it stands, Spirit is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched Indian films of 2027, powered by its high-profile star cast and the creative vision of one of Bollywood’s most discussed directors.

SCOOP: Dhurandhar vs Avatar: Fire And Ash showdown – Single-screens and two-screen cinemas yet to start bookings due to reservations over ‘all shows’ demand

The biggest Hollywood film of the year, Avatar: Fire And Ash, is all set to release tomorrow, that is, Friday, December 19. While advance booking commenced on December 5, several cinemas, especially one-screen and two-screen cinemas, have yet to begin advance booking. Bollywood Hungama spoke to trade and exhibition sources to understand the reason behind it.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Disney, the studio releasing Avatar: Fire And Ash, has asked single-screen theatres that they want all shows for their film.

The source continued, “The exhibitors have requested that they’d like to divide shows equally between the two films. After all, they realize that Avatar: Fire And Ash will also be a crowd puller.
