Sikandar’s shows CANCELLED in several cinemas; replaced with All The Best Pandya, L2 Empuraan, The Diplomat; Gaiety-Galaxy INCREASES shows due to INSANE public demand

The Salman Khan-starrer Sikandar has failed to entice the viewers as intended. The word of mouth is very poor and though there was growth on the second day of release, the trend has made it clear that the film will suffer a fall once the holiday season gets over. Realizing this aspect, the theatres have begun to reduce the showcasing of Sikandar and replace its shows with successful holdover releases.

There were reports that Sikandar’s shows were being cancelled due to no audience. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “We didn’t find any instance of the show getting cancelled in Mumbai. There were shows where the number of viewers was in single digits but on the first two days, no show got cancelled due to no audience. However, the same happened in Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore etc., especially in areas where there was little or no Eid effect.”

Kiritbhai T Vaghasia, who runs The Friday Cinema multiplex in Surat, said, “Not a single ticket was sold for the 9:00 am and 10:00 am shows on Monday. I was hoping there would be more audience for this film on Eid. Instead, we sold more tickets on Sunday, the day of the release. I guess the word of mouth spread faster, resulting in such dismal numbers on Monday.”

Due to such a response to Sikandar in his cinema hall, he had to reduce the number of shows of Sikandar. Kirtibhai revealed, “I replaced two-night shows with All The Best Pandya and Umbarro. Both these Gujarati films are getting decent footfalls. Surprisingly, Umbarro is in its ninth week and is still attracting an audience.”

All The Best Pandya, which was released on March 14, has been running successfully across Gujarat and also Mumbai. In Inox Raghuleela Kandivali in Mumbai, Sikandar’s 9:30 pm show has been replaced from April 1 with the Gujarati movie. From April 2, the cinema hall has removed 5:30 pm of the Salman Khan film and will play Umbarro instead.

Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan is also getting steady footfalls in several cinemas. In Cinepolis Seawoods and PVR Orion Mall Panvel, the 9:40 pm and 5:30 pm shows of Sikandar were axed and replaced with this Malayalam film. Meanwhile, in South Mumbai’s elite Inox Nariman Point and Metro Inox, the John Abraham-starrer The Diplomat will be played at 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm respectively instead of Sikandar.

Amid all these cancellations and replacements, Mumbai’s iconic Gaiety-Galaxy or G7 multiplex stands as an exception. Since Sunday, March 30, Sikandar has been playing in its two biggest cinema halls – the 991-seater Gaiety and 818-seater Galaxy. From March 31, the Salman Khan-starrer’s shows were also accommodated in the 105-seater Gossip. L2 Empuraan’s Hindi version was earlier playing in both Gossip as well as the 255-seater Gemini. The Mohanlal film will now be showcased only in Gemini.

Despite so many shows, Sikandar still managed to run house-full on the day of Eid in this cinema complex. Salman Khan’s films have always worked big time in Gaiety-Galaxy but for Sikandar to do so well, despite its underperformance in other areas, once again indicates that Salman Khan’s stardom is intact, especially among the mass audience.

Krissann Barretto reveals losing work after speaking on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death: “No one is so stupid to risk their life for fame”

Sasural Simar Ka fame Television actress Krissann Barretto shared the heavy toll she paid for speaking out about the death of her close friend, the late Sushant Singh Rajput. During an emotional conversation on Shardul Pandit’s podcast Uncensored with Shardul, the 33-year-old actress disclosed how her decision to address Sushant’s passing led to significant professional setbacks and personal struggles.

The Emotional Cost of Loyalty Krissann Barretto’s bond with Sushant Singh Rajput dates back to their days in the television industry, where they forged a deep friendship. Following Sushant’s tragic death by suicide on June 14, 2020, at his Mumbai residence, Krissann was among the few who publicly expressed their grief and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his passing. However, what she perceived as an act of loyalty to her friend turned into a nightmare.

“In India, if you’re an actor, you can’t grieve,” Krissann said on the podcast. “If your friend passes away, people assume you’re posting for attention. Just because you’re in front of a camera, they think you’re performing.” She highlighted the harsh scrutiny actors face, where genuine emotions are often dismissed as publicity stunts. For Krissann, speaking about Sushant wasn’t about fame—it was about standing up for someone she cared about deeply. Professional Backlash: Denied Work by Production Houses The repercussions of her outspokenness were swift and severe. Krissann revealed that several production houses refused to work with her after she addressed Sushant’s death publicly. “I was denied work,” she admitted, adding that the decision to speak out came with risks she knowingly took. “I lost a lot and gained nothing. I did it for my friend, not for fame.” Despite the heavy price she paid—both emotionally and professionally—Krissann Barretto harbors no regrets. “No one is so stupid to risk their life for fame,” she asserted, dismissing claims that her actions were motivated by self-interest. Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death: A Case That Shook the Nation Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise at the age of 34 sent shockwaves through India, sparking widespread debates about mental health, nepotism, and alleged foul play. Andaz Apna Apna also starred Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor and others. The re-release trailer will arrive tomorrow, April 1.

Vidyut Jammwal supports Kunal Kamra, calls out Kamaal R Khan for ‘taking refuge but spewing venom against the country’

Actor Vidyut Jammwal has voiced his support for stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who recently faced legal action over his satirical remarks about Maharashtra’s political situation. Taking to social media, Jammwal shared a thought-provoking post referencing the Bhagavad Gita and questioning the selective outrage against comedians while figures like Kamaal R Khan (KRK), known for his derogatory remarks about India and women, continue unchecked.

Along with sharing a video featuring Kunal Kamra and some unfavourable comments made by Kamaal R Khan in the past, Vidyut Jammwal wrote: “GITA CHAPTER 2 VERSE 31 - “स्वधर्ममपि चावेक्ष्य न विकम्पितुमर्हसि। धर्म्याद्धि युद्धाच्छ्रेयोऽन्यत् क्षत्रियस्य न विद्यते॥” MEANING - Kshatriya, you should not waver, for there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a “RIGHTEOUS WAR.” Here is man, taking refuge out of the country, drawing attention by spewing venom against the country and even worse, our women. No one stops to question his intent or mobilises to bring him down. But we will take a stand up comedian to task- for evoking strong emotions because of his act. Do we uphold the rights of Politicians over our Nation and our Women?”

The post gained significant traction, with several celebrities rallying behind Jammwal’s stance. Producer Ektaa R Kapoor commented, “Those who follow him enable him! Good on uuuuuuuu for calling him out.” Singer Mansi Scott wrote, “Well said Vidyut Jammwal,” while actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee responded with hands-up emojis. Actress Richa Chadha, who has previously taken legal action against KRK, remarked, “I took him to court. Why can't others?”

The controversy began when Kunal Kamra performed a parody song at Mumbai’s Habitat Comedy Club, referring to an unnamed politician as a ‘gaddar’ (traitor). Although no names were mentioned, members of the Shiv Sena took offense, interpreting it as an insult to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Subsequently, legal action was taken against Kamra, sparking a debate over freedom of speech.

Jammwal’s post, followed by the growing support from other celebrities, has reignited discussions on selective accountability, questioning why figures like Kamaal R Khan continue to make inflammatory statements without facing similar repercussions.

Amrita Arora Ladak testifies in 2012 hotel brawl case involving Saif Ali Khan

Actress Amrita Arora Ladak recently testified as a witness in the ongoing case against actor Saif Ali Khan, her husband Shakeel Ladak, and their friend Bilal Amrohi. The case pertains to a 2012 altercation at a five-star hotel, where businessman Iqbal Sharma accused the trio of assaulting him and his brother-in-law, Raman Patel.

Speaking to NDTV, Amrita detailed the events of that night, asserting that the incident began when an unknown individual aggressively confronted their group. “We saw someone barging into our enclosure and, in a very loud, aggressive voice, told us to shut up and keep quiet. We all got shocked at what was happening,” she stated. Amrita further claimed that Saif Ali Khan responded to the situation with an apology, standing up immediately to diffuse the tension.

The altercation reportedly involved Sharma accusing Saif and his friends of behaving aggressively and abusing him. He further alleged that the actor punched him, breaking his nose, and also attacked his brother-in-law Raman Patel. The businessman lodged a police complaint soon after the incident, leading to charges of assault and criminal intimidation against Saif and his associates.

However, Saif Ali Khan has consistently maintained that he acted in self-defence. According to him, the altercation escalated only after Sharma allegedly made derogatory remarks about the women in the group, which included Kareena Kapoor Khan, Malaika Arora, and Amrita Arora. The actor claimed that Sharma’s comments were offensive, and he responded in their defense.

The case has been ongoing for over a decade, with multiple court hearings. Amrita’s testimony supports Saif’s version of events, emphasizing that the situation began with Sharma’s aggressive approach. The court is expected to review witness statements before arriving at a final verdict. The incident continues to generate public interest, as the legal battle unfolds with statements from both parties shedding light on different perspectives of what transpired that night.

Salman Khan’s Sikandar leaked online hours before release, fans disappointed

With anticipation running high for Salman Khan’s Sikandar, the film’s online leak has disappointed many. Just hours before its release, the AR Murugadoss-directed action thriller surfaced on piracy sites. Infamous platforms like Tamilrockers, Movierulz, Filmyzilla, and various Telegram groups have made the full movie available for illegal download and streaming.

Despite strict anti-piracy laws and ongoing crackdowns, piracy remains a major concern for Bollywood. In Sikandar's case, the leak likely stemmed from camcorder recordings in theatres, which were quickly enhanced to HD quality and uploaded within hours.

Meanwhile, celebrations are in full swing for Salman Khan’s Eid release, with fans lining up in large numbers outside theatres to experience the film on the big screen. Videos from around the world captured fans celebrating Sikandar's release—dancing inside theatres, cutting cakes, and cheering for ‘Bhaijaan’ Salman Khan – are doing the rounds.

Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Sikandar features a powerhouse ensemble, including Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sharman Joshi, alongside Salman Khan.

With its grand scale and star-studded cast, Sikandar aims to have a good journey at the box office. Salman’s last release was Tiger 3, which had released in 2023. The film was a part of the Yash Raj Film’s spy universe.

Shreyas Talpade accused in Rs 100 crore ponzi scam in Uttar Pradesh, FIR filed

Shreyas Talpade, along with 14 others, has been implicated in a major fraud case in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district. The allegations involve duping villagers out of crores of rupees through a deceptive chit fund scheme.

The accused were allegedly associated with 'The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited,' a company that targeted rural investors with promises of high returns. Agents of the company reportedly assured villagers that their investments would double in a short period, leading hundreds to invest substantial amounts. However, after collecting crores from unsuspecting villagers, the company abruptly ceased operations and its representatives disappeared.

The fraudulent activities had been ongoing in Mahoba for nearly a decade before coming under legal scrutiny. Authorities have registered a case at the Srinagar police station, initiating an investigation to uncover the full extent of the scam. Further actions will be determined based on the findings of this probe.

This incident adds to Talpade's legal troubles. In February, an FIR was filed against him and veteran actor Alok Nath in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly defrauding investors of over ₹9 crore. The case was lodged at Gomti Nagar Police Station in Lucknow. Additionally, both actors, along with others, were implicated in a multi-level marketing scam in Sonipat, Haryana.

The Loni Urban Multi-State Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society has been under scrutiny for similar fraudulent activities in other regions. In Uttarakhand, the society reportedly operated 35 unauthorized branches, defrauding investors of approximately ₹92 crore by promising high returns. The Uttarakhand Police have arrested five individuals in connection with this scheme.

As investigations continue, authorities are working to bring justice to the victims and unravel the complexities of these fraudulent operations.

Santosh Release halted by CBFC over depiction of police brutality and caste issues; director Sandhya Suri REACTS!

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has stirred controversy by blocking the theatrical release of the internationally acclaimed film Santosh in India. Directed by British-Indian filmmaker Sandhya Suri and starring Shahana Goswami, the film has been lauded globally for its raw depiction of police brutality, sexual violence, caste discrimination, and misogyny within the Indian police force. However, these very themes have led to its rejection by the CBFC.

Why did the CBFC block Santosh? Santosh, set in a fictional north Indian town, follows the journey of a young widow (played by Shahana Goswami) who joins the police force and investigates the murder of a Dalit girl. The film doesn’t shy away from exposing systemic issues like police brutality, sexual violence against lower-caste women, and institutional biases such as Islamophobia. While these themes earned Santosh critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival and a nomination as the UK’s official entry for the 2025 Oscars in the International Feature category, they have proven too provocative for the CBFC.

According to reports, the CBFC demanded extensive cuts to the film, citing concerns over its “negative portrayal” of the Indian police force. Director Sandhya Suri revealed that the suggested edits spanned several pages and targeted core elements of the narrative, making them “impossible” to implement without compromising the film’s integrity. Santosh director REACTS to CBFC blocking the film In an interview with The Guardian, Suri said, “It was important to me that the film is released in India, so I did try to figure out if there was a way to make it work. But in the end, it was just too difficult to make those cuts and have a film that still made sense, let alone stayed true to its vision. I don’t feel my film glorifies violence in a way that many other films focusing on the police have done. There’s nothing sensationalist about it.”

For now, Indian audiences hoping to see Santosh in theaters may be out of luck.

Salman Khan and Jacob & Co unveil limited edition watch worth Rs 61 lakhs

The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone Salman Khan is an exclusive timepiece is a tribute to heritage, family bonds, and the spirit of global connection.

A Deep Friendship and Shared Father-Son Story Salman Khan and Jacob & Co. Founder and Chairman Jacob Arabo have been great friends, with Khan regularly seen wearing Jacob & Co. timepieces such as the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. Their bond deepened when Khan learned that The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone was inspired by a watch Jacob’s father gifted him as a symbol of time’s significance and the importance of realizing your unlimited potential. Drawing inspiration from the shared story, the two visionaries came together to conceptualize a timepiece that would honor Khan’s own father, legendary Indian cinema writer Salim Khan. A Unique Movement For Global Travelers In addition to featuring a domed, three-dimensional dial that resembles a globe, The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone is uniquely engineered for global travelers, featuring an independently adjustable dual time zone complication—a rarity in fine watchmaking. Unlike traditional dual-time watches, this innovation allows for fully independent hour and minute setting, making it especially useful for time zones with non-standard differences, such as India’s GMT +5:30 offset.

The individually-numbered, limited edition timepiece features design elements that pay homage to India’s rich heritage. The saffron and green accents are inspired by the vibrant colors of the Indian flag, while the laser-engraved world map and “Salman Khan” inscription on the case back signify his global influence and status as a style icon. The actor’s initials “S.K.” also appear on the lower dial in the 6’o clock position. The special edition timepiece features a custom box from Jacob & Co. rendered in Salman Khan’s favorite shade of turquoise, mirroring his iconic turquoise bracelet, a piece he never goes without.

EXCLUSIVE: Salman Khan’s Sikandar faces CBFC scissor - ‘Home Minister’ reference scrapped, political hoarding visuals blurred

Last week, Bollywood Hungama informed readers that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had passed both the theatrical trailer and the final cut of Sikandar on Friday, March 21. The 3-minute and 38-second-long trailer was passed with a UA 13+ certificate and zero cuts. The film also received the same rating but it also faced minor cuts from the Examining Committee of the CBFC.

The CBFC asked the makers to mute the word ‘Home’ from ‘Home Minister’ at the beginning of the film and wherever else it was uttered in the film. Secondly, the visuals of a political party hoarding were asked to be blurred. Thankfully, the makers were not asked to make any visual cut. Hence, all the action and violent scenes have been spared modifications or deletions.

Once these changes were made, Sikandar makers were handed over the censor certificate on March 21. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 150.08 minutes. In other words, its run time is 2 hours 30 minutes and 8 seconds.

Meanwhile, there has been confusion over Sikandar’s actual length. Though the censor certificate mentions the run time, exhibition sources claim that the final length of the film is lesser, that is, 2 hours 15 minutes and 46 seconds.

Sikandar stars superstar Salman Khan along with Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan and others. It is directed by A R Murugadoss of Ghajini (2008) fame and is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. While the film releases worldwide on Sunday, March 30, the advance booking will commence tomorrow, that is, Tuesday, March 25. Regarding the unconventional Sunday release, a source told us, “The makers are confident that it’s the correct day for release. Sunday will be a big holiday, more so in Maharashtra as Gudi Padwa falls on that day. Meanwhile, Ramzan Eid will be celebrated on Monday, March 31. There’ll be a post-Eid holiday effect on Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2 in many centres as well. The collections will again see a jump from Friday, April 4. Hence, until Sunday, April 6, the film’s collections will remain very strong.” Also Read: Sikandar trailer launch: Salman Khan DEFENDS 31-year age gap with Rashmika Mandanna; says, “Jab heroine ko problem nahin hai…”

Sushant Singh Rajput Case: Dia Mirza calls for public apology by the media to Rhea Chakraborty after CBI clears her

Actress Dia Mirza has spoken out in support of Rhea Chakraborty, calling on the media to issue a public apology after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) ruled out foul play in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.

Reacting to the latest developments, Dia Mirza criticized the media’s role in vilifying Rhea throughout the investigation. In an Instagram post, she stated, “Who in the media will have the grace to put out a written apology to Rhea Chakraborty and her family? You went on a witch hunt. You caused deep anguish and harassment just for TRPs. Apologize. That’s the very least you can do.”

The controversy surrounding Rhea intensified in September 2020, when she and her brother Showik were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) as part of a drug investigation linked to Rajput’s case. Despite spending nearly a month in jail, Rhea was eventually granted bail, with no substantial evidence proving any criminal involvement.

Her lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, also voiced his concerns regarding the media trial she faced. He described the relentless harassment they faced, further stating that she suffered the inhuman treatment. He further revealed that the family endured significant pressure and threats during the investigation but remained determined to clear their names. Maneshinde also criticized the spread of misinformation during the pandemic, suggesting that the media’s focus on the case was fuelled by public demand for sensational news.

The final report submitted by the CBI mentioned that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing by Rhea or her brother Showik, or their family. The case, which gained massive public attention, stemmed from the tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020 at his Mumbai residence.

With the case officially closed, public figures like Dia Mirza are urging the media to acknowledge its role in fueling baseless allegations and to extend an apology to Rhea and her family.

Deepika Padukone takes a dig at Oscars for snubbing “deserving” Indian films, watch

Actor Deepika Padukone recently sparked a conversation about the Academy Awards’ treatment of Indian cinema, calling out what she perceives as a recurring oversight of deserving films and talent. In a candid Instagram reel shared while preparing for the Louis Vuitton show in Paris, the actress expressed her frustration, stating that “India has been robbed of the Oscars many times.”

Deepika’s Emotional Connection to RRR’s Oscar Win In the video, Deepika was responding to the question, “What’s an Oscar win that felt personal for you?” Reflecting on the monumental success of RRR, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, she shared how its 2023 Oscar win for Best Original Song (‘Naatu Naatu’) struck a deep chord with her. “I remember being in the audience, and when they announced RRR, I got emotional,” she said. “Outside of being an Indian, I had really nothing to do with that movie, but that was a huge, huge moment. That felt very, very personal.”

While celebrating RRR’s historic victory, Deepika didn’t shy away from critiquing the Academy’s broader track record. “Many, many deserving movies, I feel, have been snubbed. Whether it’s movies, whether it’s talent…” she remarked, hinting at a pattern of exclusion that she believes has overlooked India’s rich cinematic contributions. Highlighting Snubbed Indian Gems The Instagram reel didn’t just stop at words—it included a powerful visual tribute to Indian films that have earned critical acclaim but failed to secure Oscar nominations. Among the showcased titles were Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light, Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, Rahi Anil Barve’s Tumbbad, and Ritesh Batra’s The Lunchbox. These films, celebrated for their storytelling, innovation, and cultural depth, represent the kind of work Deepika feels has been unjustly ignored by the Academy.

India’s Oscar Journey: A Mixed Legacy India’s relationship with the Oscars has been a topic of discussion for decades. While films like Lagaan (2001) earned nomination and Slumdog Millionaire (2008)—the latter a British production with Indian roots—won more than one Oscar, many argue that the Academy often fails to appreciate the diversity and depth of Indian cinema beyond mainstream narratives. With over 2,000 films produced annually across multiple languages, India’s film industry is one of the world’s largest—yet its Oscar haul remains disproportionately small.

Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik REACTS to clean chit in Sushant Singh Rajput case: “Satyameva Jayate”

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially given actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, and their family members a clean chit in the high-profile Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The CBI’s closure report, submitted after four years of investigation, concluded that there was no evidence of foul play in the tragic demise of the late actor, who was found dead in his Mumbai apartment in June 2020 at the age of 34. The news has relieved the Chakraborty family, who have endured intense scrutiny and legal battles since the incident.

Showik Chakraborty Speaks Out Breaking his silence for the first time since the CBI’s decision, Showik Chakraborty took to Instagram on Saturday evening to express his emotions. Posting an old video featuring himself and his sister Rhea, Showik captioned it with the poignant phrase "Satyameva Jayate" – meaning "Truth alone triumphs" – accompanied by a folded hands emoji. Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty has yet to make an official statement.

The road to this moment has been tumultuous for the Chakraborty family. Following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Rhea and Showik found themselves at the center of multiple investigations. In September 2020, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested the siblings in a drugs-related case linked to Rajput’s death. Rhea spent 27 days in judicial custody before being granted bail, while Showik faced a longer period of incarceration.

Rhea Chakraborty’s Lawyer’s Statement Rhea’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, addressed the CBI’s closure of the case in a statement that shed light on the harrowing experiences endured by his client and her family. “Rhea was jailed for 27 days despite no fault of her own. I salute her and her family for having kept silent and yet suffered the inhuman treatment they were meted out,” Maneshinde said. He revealed that the case came to him through close friends, including defense personnel with whom he studied at Sainik School, and lauded the resilience of Rhea’s family and his legal team in the face of adversity. “Both Rhea’s family, my team, and I were hounded and threatened with danger to our lives. I must say nothing deterred us from carrying out our legal duties,” he added.

The CBI’s decision marks the end of a nearly five-year-long saga that gripped the nation, sparked debates about mental health, justice, and media trials, and left an indelible mark on those involved.

Sooraj Barjatya reveals his golden rules while making films: "No villains, just circumstances; and exactly 14 punches!"

Sooraj Barjatya had an interesting conversation with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day, during which he spoke about his films, his journey and also that of his production house, Rajshri Productions, started by his grandfather, Tarachand Barjatya. The films of Sooraj and also his recently released maiden web series, Bada Naam Karenge, don’t have a villain. Action also needs to be minimal, if required. Sooraj Barjatya spoke about this and also that his family follows a rule book: There can't be a (conventional) villain, and the number of punches cannot exceed 14!

Sooraj Barjatya revealed, “My father (Rajkumar Barjatya) and grandfather knew that the villain is a must. But it's best if the villain can be a circumstance so that we don’t have too much violence. In Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), the death of the bhabhi is a circumstance. In Maine Pyar Kiya (1987), bechare ke note bheeg jaate hai. That is the circumstance. In Uunchai (2022), the protagonists want to climb the mountain and, in their case, age is a circumstance.”

As for the 14-punches rule, Sooraj said, “You know how action directors are? They can go on and on (laughs). They’ll be like ‘Aise maarenge’. They’ll go on and on until you stop them from fighting. Hence, we came up with this idea that ’14 punches ka fight chahiye; bas itna hi maarenge’!”

He further explained, “The idea was that the families should be able to see the film together. That used to be the core. At times, we have gone out and broken these rules. Somehow, they have not worked, and we keep coming up. The films that have worked for us are the ones that have stuck to these values.”

Sooraj Barjatya also spoke in-depth about making Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003) and how its underperformance brought him back to his roots.

CBI files closure report in Sushant Singh Rajput death case, no evidence of murder found

Over four years after taking over the investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted a closure report in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, sources revealed on Saturday.

Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was discovered dead in his Mumbai Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020. His passing stunned numerous fans and led to various conspiracy theories, including claims of black magic involvement, which triggered an inquiry.

Officials confirmed that the closure report was filed for two cases: the accusations made by Sushant Rajput's father against his then-girlfriend and actress Rhea Chakraborty, and Ms. Chakraborty's claims against Sushant's family.

The CBI took over the investigation from the Bihar Police in August 2020. After more than four years of inquiry, sources said the agency found no evidence that anyone had caused Sushant Rajput's death, clearing Ms. Chakraborty and her family of any wrongdoing. The CBI absolved all individuals named in the two FIRs filed in the case, including Ms. Chakraborty, her parents, and her brother.

A forensic team from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had also concluded that Sushant Rajput's death was not a murder, but rather a case of suicide.

Following Sushant Rajput's death, the Bihar Police filed a case of abetment to suicide based on a complaint lodged by his father, KK Singh, in Patna. The actor's family accused Ms. Chakraborty of mentally tormenting him, administering medication to him, exploiting him financially, and being involved in his death.

When the CBI assumed control of the investigation, the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) was instructed to conduct a forensic examination of the crime scene. A laptop, hard drives, a Canon camera, and two mobile phones were confiscated and thoroughly analyzed.

Ms. Chakraborty was one of more than 20 individuals questioned during the investigation.

Following the submission of the closure report, the Bandra magistrate court has set the next hearing for April 8. Once the court approves the closure report, the case can be officially closed.

In a statement, Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, expressed gratitude to the CBI for thoroughly investigating every aspect of the case but criticized the false narratives surrounding it, calling them "totally uncalled for."

He stated, “Due to the pandemic everyone was glued to the TV & social media in the absence of anything happening in the country. Innocent people were hounded and paraded before the media and investigative authorities. I hope this does not repeat in any case... Rhea Chakraborty had to undergo untold miseries and was behind bars for 27 days for no fault of hers until Justice Sarang V Kotwal released her on bail.”

Exaggerated pay cheques? The truth about Kiara Advani’s Rs. 15 cr remuneration for Toxic

This is not the first time an actor’s insanely inflated remuneration has been circulated, and it certainly won’t be the last. Hold your breath! Kiara Advani’s remuneration for Geetu Mohandas’s Toxic is rumoured to be a whopping Rs. 15 crores.

When I reached out to someone close to the project, they dismissed the claim outright. “Firstly, no actress in India gets that kind of money—not even Alia Bhatt or Deepika Padukone. Secondly, Kiara is certainly not being paid Rs. 15 crores. It’s ridiculous to even suggest such a figure.

Let’s be very honest—Toxic is being marketed worldwide as Yash’s film. The co-stars don’t impact the film’s economics in the same way. This is Yash’s first project post-KGF, and his fans are eagerly awaiting its release in March 2026.”

However, the source was quick to clarify that Kiara does play a significant role in Toxic. “It’s not as if she has an inconsequential part. But in terms of the film’s commercial viability, her presence doesn’t alter the equation.”

So, how much has Ms. Advani actually been paid? “That, I won’t disclose. It’s a good amount but nowhere near the exaggerated figures circulating in the media. These inflated numbers only harm the actor in the long run, even if they might seem beneficial for future negotiations.”

Here’s everything we know about this exciting development.

A Strategic Big-Screen Launch with Sikandar Scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, 2025, Raid 2 is poised to be one of Bollywood’s biggest releases of the year. The makers, including Ajay Devgn, Kumar Mangat, and Bhushan Kumar, leave no stone unturned to ensure maximum reach. A source quoted by Pinkvilla revealed, “Ajay Devgn, Kumar Mangat, and Bhushan Kumar are reaching out directly to the audience with the communication of being the next big-ticket releases for the big screen. Being a quintessential Hero vs Villain story, the makers are aiming to reach out to the least common denominator.”

To amplify its visibility, the Raid 2 teaser will be screened alongside Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which is slated to hit theaters on March 30, 2025, during the Eid festivities. This strategic move leverages Salman Khan’s massive Eid audience pull, ensuring that the teaser reaches a wide and diverse crowd. The source added, “While a digital launch will take place towards the end of next week, audiences will get to see it on the big screen from March 30.”

The Raid 2 team has reportedly secured a lucrative deal with multiplex owners to ensure the teaser gets prime visibility across major cinema chains. Additionally, the Key Delivery Message (KDM) for the teaser will be shared with single-screen theater owners, giving them the flexibility to screen it at their discretion. Raid 2: A High-Stakes Hero vs. Villain Showdown Directed by Rajkumar Gupta, Raid 2 is a sequel to the 2018 hit Raid, which saw Ajay Devgn portray the unflinching IRS officer Amay Patnaik. Based on a real-life income tax raid from the 1980s, the first installment was a critical and commercial success. Building on this legacy, Raid 2 promises an even more intense narrative, pitting Ajay Devgn against Riteish Deshmukh in a gripping face-off. Digital Drop and Release Timeline Fans won’t have to wait long to catch a glimpse of Raid 2. The teaser’s digital launch is slated for the end of next week, giving audiences an early taste of the action and drama to come. Following its theatrical screening with Sikandar on March 30, the buildup to the May 1 release is expected to intensify, with a full trailer reportedly dropping by mid-April. What to Expect from Raid 2 Shot across multiple locations including Mumbai, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, Raid 2 is currently in post-production. EXCLUSIVE: Will Ghajini 2 happen soon? AR Murugadoss teases plans and reveals he “discussed something” with Aamir Khan on Sitaare Zameen Par set

As the release of his fourth Hindi film Sikandar with Salman Khan approaches, acclaimed filmmaker AR Murugadoss has sparked excitement among fans by sharing updates on the much-speculated sequel to his 2008 blockbuster Ghajini. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, the director addressed the buzz surrounding Ghajini 2, a project that has been generating significant interest since producer Allu Aravind expressed his desire to take the franchise forward.

"We Have Some Ideas": AR Murugadoss on Ghajini 2 The original Ghajini, a Tamil film starring Suriya in 2005, was remade in Hindi in 2008 with Aamir Khan in the lead, becoming a landmark film as the first Bollywood movie to cross the Rs 100 crores mark at the box office. Recent reports have suggested that Ghajini 2 will be a bilingual project, shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, with Suriya and Aamir Khan reprising their roles respectively.

When Bollywood Hungama asked Murugadoss if he was in the loop regarding these developments, the director shared, “We have some ideas. Right now, we all are busy with our respective projects. Once we get time, we will sit and discuss.” Aamir Khan and AR Murugadoss’ Recent Meeting The conversation also touched upon Murugadoss’ interactions with Aamir Khan after the Ghajini 2 speculations began circulating online. Revealing details of their recent meeting, Murugadoss said, “When I came to Mumbai first, I met him before I started the shoot of Sikandar. I met him on the sets of Sitaare Zameen Par and we discussed something. After that, we often spoke over the call.”

This revelation has fueled fans’ hopes, as it indicates that the director and Aamir Khan have been in touch, possibly laying the groundwork for the sequel. However, Murugadoss didn’t divulge specifics of their discussion. For now, Murugadoss’ words offer a glimmer of hope that the iconic Ghajini franchise may soon return to the big screen, bringing back the magic of Aamir Khan and Suriya under his direction. Ghajini’s Re-Release Trend: A Nod to Aamir Khan’s Legacy Adding to the nostalgia, Ghajini is among several Aamir Khan films being re-released to honor the actor’s contribution to Indian cinema. When asked about this trend, Murugadoss noted, “Now the re-release trend has started. So all the old hit films are released on the hero's birthday or on holidays.” What’s Next for AR Murugadoss? While Ghajini 2 remains a topic of intrigue, Murugadoss is currently focused on the release of Sikandar, his first collaboration with Salman Khan, set to hit theatres on March 30, 2025. The film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, also stars Rashmika Mandanna and has already generated buzz with its action-packed teaser and songs.

Hansal Mehta and Mukesh Chhabra join hands to produce official Hindi adaptation of Ilango Ram’s acclaimed comedy Tentigo

In an exciting development, acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta and producer Sahil Saigal are set to bring the official Hindi adaptation of Tentigo (originally Nelum Kuluna), the critically acclaimed Sri Lankan comedy, to Indian audiences. The film will be produced under their banner, True Story Films, which was announced earlier this year.

Tentigo first garnered international attention in 2023, premiering at the prestigious Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Award. The film, produced by Hiranya Perera and the indie powerhouse Crawling Angel Films (known for Girls Will Be Girls, Once Again, and Nimtoh), was a standout at the festival. True Story Films will join forces with Crawling Angel Films, with the latter duo of Sanjay Gulati and Neeraj Pandey co-producing the Hindi adaptation.

Adding further excitement to the project, celebrated casting director and director, Mukesh Chhabra joins the team in his debut role as Producer. Hiranya Perera is attached as Associate Producer. Three-time Filmfare winner Karan Vyas, known for his work on Scam 1992, Scam 2003, Scoop, and Saas Bahu aur Flamingo, will adapt the irreverent and emotionally charged comedy into Hindi, promising a fresh madcap take on the original.

The official announcement was made at the premiere of Tentigo in Colombo on March 12, 2025, with the entire creative team in attendance. Tentigo opened in theaters on March 14, 2025, to rave critical reviews and audience acclaim, generating tremendous excitement for the upcoming Hindi adaptation.

Talking about the same Hansal Mehta shared, “I’m not usually in favor of remakes, but this one had me genuinely excited. The moment I saw Tentigo, I couldn’t stop laughing. It was sharp, irreverent, and yet deeply emotional—the kind of story that stays with you. I believe this adaptation will resonate with audiences across India. We at True Story Films are thrilled to bring this incredibly funny film to a wider audience”.

Casting director Mukesh Chhabra who has collaborated with Hansal Mehta earlier since ‘Shahid’ shared, “I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Hansal Mehta as a casting director on all his projects since Shahid. Working alongside him as a producer feels like a natural extension of everything we’ve built over the years — I’m excited about this new chapter in my career and can’t wait for audiences to experience this exciting film”.

Sanjay Gulati of Crawling Angel Films, recognized for his work such as the Sundance-winning Girls Will Be Girls, Once Again, and Nimtoh, shared,” Over the last 10 years, many films I've been involved with have premiered at film festivals, but often remained out of the public eye. Tentigo, as a comedy, defies the typical 'Festival Film' label and is now gaining traction beyond that circle. Through this adaptation, I aim to break free from such definitions, as what truly matters is reaching a wide audience. I believe True Story Films and Hansal are the perfect partners to achieve this”.

While details about the director and cast are being kept under wraps, the producers promise a lineup of talent that will elevate this already anticipated project.

Vivek Agnihotri defends Chhaava amid Nagpur violence allegations; says, “The ‘Urban Naxal’ ecosystem is waging a cultural jihad against our films”

Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Chhaava has been in the headlines recently, but for an unexpected reason. The historical drama, which has emerged as a box office success, is being linked to the violence that erupted in Nagpur on Monday during protests over the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb. While the film’s team has remained silent on the controversy, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has stepped forward to defend the film.

Addressing the situation, director Vivek Agnihotri took to social media and wrote, “The #UrbanNaxal ecosystem is waging a cultural jihad against our films—#TheKashmirFiles and #Chhaava are under attack because they dare to awaken the nation. Defeat them in this battle.”

The #UrbanNaxal ecosystem is waging a cultural jihad against our films—#TheKashmirFiles and #Chaava are under attack because they dare to awaken the nation. Defeat them in this battle.

— Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri (@vivekagnihotri) March 19, 2025

His statement came in response to accusations that Chhaava, along with films like The Kashmir Files and The Sabarmati Report, is contributing to social polarization. One netizen pointed out that such movies deepen societal divides, prompting Agnihotri to respond, “Before #TheKashmirFiles the society wasn’t polarised at all. Muslim terrorists in Kashmir were helping Hindus find their houses and the corpses of their loved ones. JKLF never existed. See, how in Bengal, Islamists help in bringing down hanging bodies of Hindu women from trees.”

The controversy arose after a protest in Nagpur demanding the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Reports suggest that during the demonstration, an effigy of the Mughal ruler was burned along with a green cloth. However, rumors quickly spread that a holy book had also been set on fire, escalating tensions and leading to riots. In response, authorities imposed a curfew in several parts of Nagpur to control the situation.

Meanwhile, speaking of Chhaava, the film based on a book by the same name, points out the bravery of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Rane as he continues his war of Swarajya against the Mughal Empire and Aurangzeb.

Raza Murad responds to backlash over viral drinking video during Ramzan; reveals it was a scene from a shoot

Veteran actor Raza Murad recently faced criticism on social media after a video of him drinking went viral. A section of the Internet condemned the senior actor, assuming he was consuming alcohol during the holy month of Ramzan. Addressing the controversy, Murad clarified that the footage was from a film shoot and not a personal celebration.

Responding in the comments section of the viral video, Murad explained that the scene was filmed in Chhatarpur, Delhi, a few days ago as part of a movie. He emphasized that it was his character’s birthday being celebrated in the clip, not his actual birthday, which falls in November. In Hindi, he wrote, "Please don't think that there was a birthday party or celebrations of some sort going on. The viral footage is from a film scene, shot in Chhatarpur Delhi, a few days ago. In those scenes, my character's birthday is being celebrated."

He further added, "Without knowing the incident, you assume that a party was going on. My birthday is in November. It's March. You people assume I am drinking alcohol in public during Ramzan, which is absolutely wrong."

The video was originally shared on Instagram by actor Kiran Kumar, who was also present in the clip. His caption read, "Dost jitne purane, yaari utni hi solid (The older the friendship, the stronger it is)! Shekhar Kapur SLAMS Prime Video for “carelessly butchering” Bandit Queen for OTT release

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur recently took to social media to voice his frustration over the unauthorized editing of his iconic 1994 film, Bandit Queen, for its OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. In a series of impassioned posts, Kapur highlighted the painstaking effort that goes into crafting a film, only to see it "carelessly butchered" by an unknown hand for streaming platforms. Fellow filmmaker Hansal Mehta joined the discussion, amplifying Kapur’s concerns, while Sudhir Mishra’s earlier remarks set the stage for this ongoing debate.

The Heart of the Controversy: 'Bandit Queen' Edited Beyond Recognition Kapur’s grievances center on the OTT version of Bandit Queen, a biographical drama based on the life of Phoolan Devi, which he claims has been altered without his consent. In a tweet, he reminisced about the months spent perfecting the film alongside editor Renu Saluja. "The anguish a director and editor go through when editing their films... And then some random person carelessly cuts the film for OTT release?" he wrote, questioning whether the individual responsible considered the love poured into the project, the impact on Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s haunting soundtrack, or the performances delivered under grueling 50-degree heat.

The filmmaker didn’t hold back, pointedly asking, "Did you even think about the love we give for our art?" He tagged peers Sudhir Mishra and Hansal Mehta, signaling a call to action among India’s cinematic community.

The anguish a director and editor go through when editing their films. The days/nights spent arguing, fighting over each edit, each cut. I remember those months with Renu Saluja and myself on #BanditQueen. And then some random person carelessly cuts the film for OTT release? I…

Hansal Mehta’s Response: A Cry for Artistic Integrity Hansal Mehta responded with a scathing critique of the systemic issues plaguing Indian filmmakers. "It is sad to know that a film that should always be India’s pride gets treated this way," he wrote, lamenting the lack of pushback against such practices. Mehta argued that Indian filmmakers have become accustomed to being "slaves of the West," submitting to the whims of streaming platforms without protest. He pointed to the absence of a robust guild or association to protect directors’ rights, noting that existing bodies are more focused on political agendas than safeguarding artistic integrity.

Mehta expressed hope that Kapur’s stature— bolstered by his Padma Bhushan award and global recognition—might spur change. However, he concluded with a grim reflection: "Until then, back to our submissive selves? Members of the new content-driven colony that creates cattle feed to drive subscriptions while fulfilling the artistic ambitions of its Western masters."

It is sad to know that a film that should always be India’s pride gets treated this way. But then what’s new? We’ve become so used to being treated as slaves of the west. No protest. No pushback. Total submission. Because they are doing us a favour. Our integrity as artistes is… — Hansal Mehta (@mehtahansal) March 19, 2025

The Spark: Praise for Netflix’s Adolescence The controversy traces back to Kapur’s earlier praise for Netflix’s British miniseries Adolescence, which he lauded as "next-level storytelling." In a tweet, he wrote, "I’m not the first one to say this but #Adolescence from #Netflix redefines what truly great series can achieve. It defies the regular 3-act structure of cause and effect and plunges you deeply into the minds of the characters."

The post caught the attention of Sudhir Mishra, who responded, "Nobody will let us do something like that. One should do it as an independent film. Something of our own which wanders, then stops, digs, and goes where the smell takes us." This exchange prompted Kapur to reflect on whether he could even make Bandit Queen—a film celebrated for its raw, unfiltered narrative—under today’s OTT landscape.

Nobody will let us do something like that . One should do it as an independent film . Something of our own which is wanders , then stops , digs and goes where the smell takes us . https://t.co/BiHTjrwSfd — Sudhir Mishra (@IAmSudhirMishra) March 18, 2025

A Broader Debate: Creative Freedom in the OTT Era Kapur’s ordeal with Bandit Queen isn’t an isolated incident. The film, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and was India’s official entry for the Oscars in 1995, has long been a symbol of fearless storytelling. Its gritty depiction of caste violence and sexual oppression stirred controversy upon release, yet it earned global acclaim.
