Jacqueline Fernandez gets new letter from Sukesh Chandrashekhar; conman dedicates ‘Sajni’ song from Laapataa Ladies

Despite the many times Jacqueline Fernandez has denied her association with conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is currently imprisoned for fraud, the latter continues to send several love letters to the actress on multiple occasions. The recent one talked about him sending a birthday present to Jacqueline who celebrated the special day on August 11 and along with that, he also dedicated the song ‘Sajni’ from the Aamir Khan production Laapataa Ladies.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar started the letter with a note on how he came across of some of the recent photos of Jacqueline Fernandez. “Baby my Baby, saw your new pictures, God how can someone be so pretty, Baby you are just too extremely pretty. On this note, I have two things to dedicate to you my love, today,” his letter read. “Baby, first I wanna dedicate an apt song, which is my current mood, and right now feelings for you, and the song is “SAJNI” from Lapata Ladies. Baby every line in that track is for you. I really don’t know how my day and night is passing without you around me or me talking to you,” the letter added.

Further it continued, “My Second Dedication is unveiling a stunning Art Work of your Portrait installed in the upper Deck of your Birthday Gift. Lady Jacqueline, which is enroute to Mumbai, as of now. Bomma my Baby, you know whats special about this Art Work, it’s a Work which is straight out of my dreams, which is brought to reality, and now installed in your Baby Lady Jacqueline, for you my Sajni, I hope you will like it.”

He concluded the note adding, “Baby my love, just two more to go, Can’t wait my Love, I Love you my Jackie, every second only thinking about you my Baby Boo. Love you like crazy my Sajni, my Botta Bomma. You are amazing my love”.

Aditya Roy Kapur and Samantha Ruth Prabhu begin Raj & DK’s action-fantasy series Rakt Bramhand shoot in Mumbai: Report

The highly anticipated Netflix series, Rakt Bramhand – The Bloody Kingdom, has officially kicked off production in Mumbai. For this ambitious project, Raj & DK partner with director Rahi Anil Barve and long-time collaborator Sita R Menon, under their production company, D2R Films. The series promises a gripping, edgy narrative set against the backdrop of a fantastical kingdom with bloody action and spectacular visuals. The series boasts a stellar cast, including Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Set in a fantastical realm, the show promises to be an epic tale filled with intrigue, betrayal, and thrilling action.

The production team has been hard at work preparing for this ambitious undertaking. Earlier this year, it was revealed that the lead actors, Aditya Roy Kapur and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, had undergone rigorous sword-fighting training to perfect their roles. Now, their skills are being put to the test as they bring their characters to life on screen.

Despite the demanding schedule of simultaneously filming the third season of their popular series The Family Man, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK are closely involved in overseeing every aspect of Rakt Bramhand – The Bloody Kingdom. As per a report in Mid-day, a source from the set shared insights into the production process, “Rakt Bramhand is Raj-DK’s first action-fantasy series set in a fictitious kingdom. Even as they are shooting The Family Man, they are constantly supervising Rakt Bramhand’s progress. The sheer scale of the production is something they haven’t attempted before. We started shooting two weeks ago, and are currently canning some elaborate action sequences at Bahubali Studio in Borivali. There will be a short 10-day break soon, after which we will regroup in October. Ranveer Singh to start prep for Don 3 from March 2025: Report

Earlier this month, reports surfaced about a change in the schedule for Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani. Originally set to begin production in January 2025, the shoot has now been pushed to May-June 2025. The reason for the delay? Farhan Akhtar, who is currently filming 120 Bahadur, wants to ensure that the project is completed before he directs Don 3.

However, there's a new development that’s piqued the interest of fans eager to see Ranveer Singh step into the iconic shoes of the Don. Pre-Production Begins; Ranveer's Preparation Kicks Off in March A source has revealed to News18 Showsha that while the production has been postponed, the pre-production work on Don 3 is already underway. The exciting news for Ranveer Singh fans is that he will begin his preparations for the film in March 2024. A source shared, “The pre-production work on the film is currently underway. And the prep on the same will begin next year in March as apart from Farhan, Ranveer is also busy with Aditya Dhar’s untitled next and recently embraced fatherhood.”

Indeed, Ranveer Singh and his wife, Deepika Padukone, welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on September 8, adding more significance to his already busy 2024 schedule. As the source suggests, Singh will need to balance fatherhood with his professional commitments, especially as he takes on the role of Don, a character immortalised by Amitabh Bachchan and later Shah Rukh Khan.

On Sunday, we exclusively reported that the release of the film has been pushed from September 20 to September 27 as the makers wanted to include a special song by Vishal Mishra. And now, the team of the film is gearing up for a grand musical event. Interestingly, the Stree 2 family will come forward to unveil a special song of Binny And Family!

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Stree 2’s director Amar Kaushik, actor Abhishek Banerjee and writer Niren Bhatt are the chief guests at this musical event of Binny And Family which will be held in Mumbai on Friday, September 20. They will launch the song ‘Zindagi’ and also interact with the team of Binny And Family.”

The source continued, “The star cast of Binny And Family will be present along with Mahaveer Jain and singer-composer Vishal Mishra. He’ll perform on the much-awaited song ‘Zindagi’, which he has composed and sung while it's written by Kaushal Kishore. And of course, Binny and his family will also interact with the Stree 2 family, and that would also be a highlight of the event.”

An industry expert said, “The event will surely make a lot of noise due to the songs and also because this would be the first appearance by Stree 2 members after their much-loved horror comedy is said to have crossed the collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and emerged as the biggest grosser of Bollywood. Hence, there’ll be a lot of excitement even among the media to cover the event.”

Binny And Family marks the acting debut of Varun Dhawan’s niece Anjini Dhawan. Besides Anjini, it also stars Pankaj Kapur, Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar, Naman Tripaathy and Charu Shankar and is written and directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy. It is produced by Mahaveer Jain Films and Wavebrand Productions and presented by Ektaa R Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, Shashank Khaitan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. The film will be released in cinemas by PVR while its music will be released by T-Series.

This will be the second biggest event by the makers of Binny And Family. Their trailer launch, where Varun Dhawan was the chief guest, also got a lot of coverage.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s last project was the web series Heeramandi: The Diamond Baazar, which was released on Netflix earlier this year. Following this, there is much excitement for his upcoming film in the form of Love and War. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal together.

It is now learnt that the film will soon go on floors. An industry source has told Bollywood Hungama that Bhansali will commence shooting Love and War from next month onwards. “After Heeramandi, there is keen anticipation for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next Love and War. Apart from the out-of-the-box title, the casting of Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky has constantly kept the film in the news. The movie will finally go on floors from October 24 and that will mark the beginning of the first schedule,” said the source.

While it is not known how long the first schedule of the film will be, it is said that it will be an extensive one considering Bhansali’s vision and perfection.

Love and War is the first time that Vicky Kaushal will be directed by Bhansali. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have worked with the filmmaker before. In fact, Ranbir made his big screen debut with the filmmaker’s Saawariya in 2007 along with Sonam Kapoor. Alia, on the other hand, worked with Bhansali in the 2022 runaway hit Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Love and War is to be released in theatres on March 20, 2026.

Diljit Dosanjh Concert Ticket Controversy: Delhi-based law student files legal notice against organizers claiming scalping and malpractice

The highly anticipated concert of Diljit Dosanjh, scheduled for October 26 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, has met with controversy after a Delhi-based law student filed a legal notice against the organizers. The student, Riddhima Kapoor, accused the organizers of the Dil-Luminati Tour of violating consumer rights and engaging in unfair trade practices during the ticket sales process.

Kapoor claimed that despite being a registered HDFC Credit Card holder, she was unable to secure a ticket for the concert. She alleged that the organizers had announced the opening of the booking window for September 12 at 1 PM, but the tickets went on sale at 12:59 PM, leaving many fans empty-handed.

The legal notice alleged that the sudden unavailability of tickets was a result of manipulation and scalping practices by the organizers. Kapoor asserted that the organizers were artificially inflating demand and manipulating prices, which constitutes a violation of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

“This abrupt and suspicious transaction strongly suggests manipulation and scalping practices. The sudden unavailability of tickets indicates that your organisation may be artificially inflating demand and manipulating prices, which constitutes an unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The practice of scalping and hoarding of tickets with an intent to resell them at inflated prices is a clear violation of consumer rights and an act of bad faith,” the Free Press Journal quoted the notice.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police have issued a warning against fraudulent ticket sales for the concert. The police shared a video on social media, urging people to be alert and avoid falling victim to online scams. "Be cautious about online fraud and protect yourself," the police caption read.

Diljit Dosanjh's Dil-Luminati Tour is set to kick off in Delhi and will then travel to other cities across India, including Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Chandigarh, and Guwahati. The Delhi concert offered two ticket categories: Fan Pit, priced at Rs. 19,999, and Gold (Phase 3), priced at Rs. 12,999. Yesterday, PVR Inox announced that a film festival to celebrate 25 years of superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan will be held in their properties in various cities. It got the fans excited and also made them wonder which films from Kareena’s illustrious filmography would be shown as part of this film festival. Today, PVR Inox finally unveiled the list of the 5 movies that will be a part of the line-up.

In a pleasant development, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) has made it to the list. The film is remembered for various reasons, including Kareena’s flawless performance as Poo. It was also a film that enhanced her popularity.

There has been a huge demand for this film’s re-release. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’s director Karan Johar had said during the trailer launch of Bad Newz earlier this year that he plans to release his classic film when it completes 25 years in December 2024. But thanks to Kareena, the re-release of the film is happening sooner than expected. Besides Kareena, it also starred Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Jaya Bachchan.

SRK and Kareena Kapoor Khan, in the same year, were also seen in the period drama Asoka. The film underperformed at the box office but continues to be remembered for its hit songs and the chemistry between the two actors. Recently, the ‘Asoka makeup trend’ picked up big time on TikTok and Instagram where girls across the world decked up as Kareena in the film. This added to the film’s appeal.

Kareena’s evergreen film Jab We Met (2007) also will see a re-release. The other two films on the list are Chameli (2004) and Omkara (2006). Both these movies were quite acclaimed and featured bravura performances by the actress.

This week-long film festival will run over 30 cinemas in 15 cities from September 20, 2024, to September 27, 2024. Tomorrow, on September 18, Kareena will attend a press conference at PVR Lido, Mumbai to talk about this film festival. Interestingly, this celebration coincides with the release of her latest film, The Buckingham Murders.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War secures record deals – Rs. 130 crore with Netflix for streaming rights; Rs. 35 crore with Saregama, Rs. 50 crore for TV: Report

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is set to venture into solo production for his upcoming epic period drama, Love & War. The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, is slated to begin production early next month. Bhansali's decision to self-produce the film comes on the heels of the successful launch of his web series debut, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, on Netflix. Riding on the wave of this success, Bhansali has reportedly inked a substantial post-theatrical deal with the streaming giant.

As per a report in Mid-day, industry sources have revealed that Netflix has committed a base price of Rs. 130 crore for the streaming rights of Love & War. However, the final figure is expected to increase based on the film's box-office performance. In addition to the Netflix deal, Bhansali has also secured a lucrative music rights agreement with Saregama for an estimated Rs. 35 crore. Furthermore, Bhansali is in advanced negotiations with a leading television network for the satellite rights, with the estimated value of the deal hovering around Rs. 50 crore.

The ambitious period drama, Love & War, is estimated to have a production budget of approximately Rs. 200 crore, excluding the remuneration of the lead actors. Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal have reportedly opted for back-end deals with Bhansali, meaning their fees will be tied to the film's theatrical performance. Ranbir Kapoor, in particular, is said to have secured a significant share of the theatrical revenue.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has issued a statement through his team, warning fans about fraudulent claims regarding his supposed upcoming US tour. The actor made it clear that he has no plans to perform or travel to the United States in 2024.

The official statement, shared across Salman Khan's social media platforms, stated, "This is to inform that neither Mr. Salman Khan nor any of his affiliated companies or teams are organising any upcoming concerts or appearances in the USA in 2024. Any claims suggesting that Mr. Khan will be performing are completely false. Please do not trust any emails, messages, or advertisements promoting such events." Legal Action to Follow Against False Promotions The statement further cautioned fans and potential event organizers, asserting that legal measures will be taken against anyone attempting to use the actor’s name fraudulently. "Legal action will be taken against anyone found falsely using Mr. Salman Khan's name for fraudulent purposes," the statement read.

This announcement comes as a direct response to rising concerns about the circulation of fake promotional materials for Salman Khan's supposed US concerts, leaving many fans vulnerable to ticket scams.

In addition to addressing the false claims about the US tour, Salman Khan continues to stay busy with multiple projects. The actor was recently seen with Maharashtra Chief Minister at a Ganpati festival.

On the work front, Salman is currently filming Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, where he stars alongside Rashmika Mandanna. His most recent release was Tiger 3, featuring co-stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi.

The much discussed Diwali 2024 clash between Kartik Aaryan-led Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and the Rohit Shetty multi-starrer Singham Again could be averted as the director along with his partners are in intense discussions to delay the film by two weeks. According to trade buzz, the last three days have seen a series of meetings between Rohit Shetty, Ajay Devgn, Jio Studios, Reliance Entertainment, and Kumar Mangat to discuss the release date of Singham Again.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, "Horror comedies are the flavour of the season post the release of Stree 2, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is something that can't be taken lightly at this point in time. Singham Again team is looking at a possible solo release on November 15, rather than indulging in a clash on November 1." The source further informed us that this is a collective discussion, happening to ensure that Singham Again gets a clear run.

"Singham Again is a mega-budget film and the makers are weighing all the pros and cons before taking the final call. There is an analysis going on to determine the pros and cons of November 1 V/s November 15 release. A final call on the release date will be taken in the next 24 hours, but the matter of fact is Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will be a competitor today due to horror comedies being the talk of the town. If Stree 2 with Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao can do Rs. 600 crores, then the sky is the limit for a much bigger franchise with Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri," the source informed Bollywood Hungama.

Interestingly, Singham Again is the biggest film of Hindi cinema boosting of star-cast of Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor. However, the makers want to be extra sure on the date, as the bigger the star cast, the bigger the expectations of delivering a blockbuster.

Raaj Shaandilyaa reacts to Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video being similar to Sex Tape; says, “I have never seen it before”

Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri are all set to bring back the 90s in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video in which things a comical turn when the newlyweds lose their CD capturing their romance. While the trailer has several hilarious punchlines and many have shared excitement about its release, some have pointed out its resemblance with the Cameron Diaz, Jason Segal starrer comedy film Sex Tape which revolves around a similar concept. However, the director the film Raaj Shaandilyaa has asserted that it cannot be the case since he has never seen the Hollywood drama before.

In an interview with PTI he asserted that he was not aware of these similarities with the American movie and insisted that they are completely different from each other.  “Vicky Vidya…” follows the titular married couple on a frantic search of a CD with a video of their wedding night, whereas Sex Tape revolves around a married couple who make a sex tape to spice up their relationship only to wake up the next morning to find that it has gone missing,” he said.  “The characters and story are different. Our film has nothing to do with Sex Tape. I’ve not even seen Sex Tape. I didn’t get inspired by it, rather I got inspired by life and the people around me,” he added. Furthermore, he also stated that the film is written by writer Yusuf Ali Khan and that work on the screenplay began back in 2018.

Meanwhile, in the same interaction, Raaj also mentioned that they are already penning down a sequel which will be set a decade or so later, that talks about the early stages of internet and social media. “Where this film ends, we’ve got a sequel, which will be set 10-15 years later, when the advent of the Internet has happened. We’ve written the story. We will shoot this film after I make another film,” he shared.

Coming to Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, the film also stars Mallika Sherawat, Vijay Raaz, Tiku Talsania, Archana Puran Singh, among others in key roles. It is slated to release on October 11, right before the occasion of Dussehra.

EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Kumar’s Tirangaa to be directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan; expected to go on floors by 2024-end

Bollywood Hungama had exclusively reported last month that Akshay Kumar-starrer Tirangaa is not a remake of the 1993 film of the same name, starring Nana Patekar and Raaj Kumar. Bollywood Hungama has now learned of another exclusive information about the film – it’ll be directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.

A source told us, “The producers of the film – Ashvin Varde, Subhash Kale and Narendra Hirawat – along with Akshay Kumar realized that Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan will be an apt choice to handle a film like this and give it the required commercial treatment. This is how the acclaimed director came on board.”

The source further said, “Tirangaa is expected to go on floors by December 2024.”

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan has earlier directed Lahore (2010) and 72 Hoorain (2023) and both won National Awards. He was also one of the writers of Ranveer Singh’s cricket drama, ’83 (2021).

Sanjay and Akshay came close to working together for a film named Gorkha. It was to be produced by Aanand L Rai and after the announcement, it was shelved. In January 2023, Aanand L Rai told Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, it is true. We are not making this film for now. There are technical issues. There are factual clarifications that need to be made.”

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan was also going to make Chandamama Door Ke, a space film starring the late Sushant Singh Rajput.

On August 10, Narendra Hirawat denied reports that Tirangaa is the remake of the old film of the same name. He shared a statement with Bollywood Hungama which said, “In the last few days, there have been a few media reports stating that we are producing a remake of the film Tirangaa with Shri Akshay Kumar in the lead. We would like to hereby affirm that this news is completely baseless and untrue. Yes, we are indeed producing a film with Shri Akshay Kumar in the lead but we would like to categorically state that it is NOT a remake of any film. It is a completely new and original script. An official announcement regarding the same will be made soon.”

Netflix reacts to filing plagiarism charges against Squid Game after filmmaker Soham Shah points out similarities with Imran Khan starrer Luck

Netflix has come in defense of its highly-acclaimed Korean show Squid Game which is currently facing plagiarism charges filed by Bollywood filmmaker Soham Shah. The latter, in his lawsuit, has alleged that the basic plotline of the popular web-series is inspired by his 2009 survival drama Luck which marked the debut of Shruti Haasan in Hindi Cinema and featured Imran Khan as the male lead. However, the streaming giant has denied its claims.

As per a TMZ report, after Sohum Shah filed a complaint against Netflix for this ‘blatant rip off’ the latter has issued a statement asserting denial and maintain that the claim has no merit. Furthermore, revealing how Squid Game was created by and written by Hwang Dong Hyuk, Netflix has also added that they would ‘defend this matter vigorously’. Meanwhile, Sohum Shah has taken a firm stand insisting about pursuing this lawsuit. According to his statement, he has pointed out that the main plot, characters, themes, mood, setting and sequence of events of Squid Game are strikingly similar to that of Luck, further adding that such similarities could not be just a coincidence.

Speaking about the show, Squid Game features over 400 contestants, all of whom are in deep financial hardship, as they participate in a secret contest where they play a series of popular Korean children's games involving a risky twist, making it a matter of life and death. On the other hand, Luck which featured an ensemble cast with Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, Chitrashi Rawat, Danny Denzongpa, among others features a few contestants who decide to get involved in a game of ‘luck’ to get rid of their financial crisis, where defeat is synonymous to death. While Squid Game released its first season in 2021 on Netflix, Luck released in theatres way back in 2009.

EXCLUSIVE: National Cinema Day on September 20; Yudhra, Binny And Family to benefit as theatres to sell tickets for flat Rs. 99

National Cinema Day has become a hit concept ever since it was introduced in September 2022. This was when tickets were sold for Rs. 75 and it led to jubilation as almost all the shows across the country went house full. A similar celebration happened in October 2023. This year, the National Cinema Day will be held, too, in less than a week’s time.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The multiplexes and other stakeholders have decided to celebrate National Cinema Day on Friday, September 20. As part of the celebrations, all theatres across the country will sell tickets for just Rs. 99. The tickets for the special format classes or screens like IMAX, 4DX, Gold Class, recliner seats etc. would be available for Rs. 199.”

The move will especially benefit the new releases. A multiplex official said, “The two big releases in Hindi next week are Yudhra and Binny And Family and they’ll be at an advantage. The Rs. 99 ticket offer would attract a lot more people for these films than expected. And if word of mouth for them is positive, it’ll lead to healthy collections on Saturday and Sunday, when the rates would be back to normal.” 

Yudhra stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, Malavika Mohanan and Raghav Juyal and is an Excel Entertainment production. Binny And Family, meanwhile, marks the debut of Varun Dhawan’s niece, Anjini Dhawan. It is produced by Mahaveer Jain Films and Wavebrand Productions and presented by Ektaa R Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, Shashank Khaitan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.

The other new releases will also benefit. Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam, which marks the acting debut of Dhvani Bhanushali, also releases on September 20. Talking of Hollywood, the animated film Transformers One and Halle Berry's horror thriller, Never Let Go, will be in for a treat.

Meanwhile, the Marathi comedy-drama Navra Maza Navsacha 2 also releases on September 20. Its first part has a cult following and hence, the franchise value along with the National Cinema Day offer might result in record collections throughout Maharashtra for the sequel. The multi-starrer features Sachin Pilgaonkar, Ashok Saraf, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Swwapnil Joshi and others.

The holdover releases will also enjoy the benefits of the offer. Tumbaad, which had a huge opening yesterday, will see a huge second Friday thanks to National Cinema Day. Stree 2, the biggest hit of 2024, will again have a shot at crossing Jawan’s collections, thanks to this offer. The other older films which will attract audiences in hordes are The Buckingham Murders, Laila Majnu, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Veer-Zaara Thalapathy Is The G.O.A.T., Khel Khel Mein etc.

Interestingly, this is not the first time in 2024 that tickets will be available for Rs. 99 in theatres. As part of Cinema Lovers Day, a similar offer was implemented on February 23, May 31 and August 9.

The expo has often been in the news and this edition seems to be no exception. Bollywood Hungama has learned that at the 7th Big Cine Expo this year, 2024’s most successful producer Dinesh Vijan will be felicitated.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “All the theatrical films of Dinesh Vijan this year – Teri Baaton Main Aisa Uljha Jiya, Munjya and above all, Stree 2 – have been huge hits. Stree 2 especially has gone on to become a blockbuster of epic proportions. Even the other two films did more than what was accepted and these movies gave oxygen to the exhibition sector. Last year, too, he delivered a sleeper hit in the form of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023).”

The source continued, “In short, woh cheez ko haath lagate hai, woh sona ban jaati hai. As a result, it is only fitting that he should be felicitated for his services to the exhibitors, industry and the audience at large.”

The felicitation will take place on the first day of the Big Cine Expo, that is, September 30. And that’s not all. The IMAX Big Cine Awards 2024 will be held the same day where Ramesh Sippy will be given a Special Achievement Award on the occasion of 50 years of his legendary classic, Sholay (1975). The next day, October 1, he’ll also have a fireside chat about the film.

Last year, the Big Cine Expo took place in Chennai while this year it’ll be held in Mumbai. In 2023, Bollywood Hungama was the first to break the news that Boney Kapoor would screen exclusive, never-before-seen footage of his acclaimed film Maidaan (2024), starring Ajay Devgn. A year before that, the 5th Big Cine Expo was also held in Chennai where the attendees got a chance to see exclusive footage of the Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra (2022).

The Big Cine Expo was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions. The expo in 2019 was also held in Mumbai where Farah Khan was felicitated.

It’s Shah Rukh Khan v/s Sanjay Leela Bhansali again as Love & War to take on King for explosive Eid 2026

While the industry is still heating up to the Diwali 2024 clash between Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, we hear that another clash is brewing in the film fraternity. It's round 3.0 for Shah Rukh Khan vs Sanjay Leela Bhansali, as after locking horns in 2007, and 2015, the duo are set for another face-off in 2026. According to reliable sources, it's going to be a face-off between King and Love & War during the Eid 2026 weekend.

"King is an out-and-out action film and Shah Rukh Khan is confident to serve the audience with a potboiler during the Eid 2026 weekend. Just minutes after his decision went digitally, Sanjay Leela Bhansali also took no time to announce the new release date of Love & War. Incidentally, even Love & War got announced for an Eid release," a source tells Bollywood Hungama.

The source further informs us that both the films are looking to capitalize on the prolonged holiday period of Eid, Ram Navami and Good Friday in the week of release. "SLB was thinking of an Eid 2026 release for the longest time and it’s just a mere coincidence that the thought process coincided with SRK. As they say, great minds think alike, and there is no denying the fact that both SRK & SLB are two of the greatest cinematic minds"

The clash at the moment is on, as Love & War is slated to go on floors in October 2024, whereas King takes the stage from January 2025.

Aamir Khan to produce Imran Khan’s Netflix rom-com; Break Ke Baad director Danish Aslam to helm the project: Report

After a nearly decade-long hiatus, Imran Khan will grace the screen again. Khan has been searching for the perfect project to mark his return, and it seems he's found it in a light-hearted romantic comedy for Netflix. Khan will collaborate with his uncle, Aamir Khan, for this comeback project. Under the leadership of its newly appointed CEO Aparna Purohit, Aamir Khan Productions will produce the film. Interestingly, this marks the production company's first foray into the OTT platform and the first project greenlit under Purohit's leadership.

According to a report in Peeping Moon, the untitled rom-com will be helmed by Danish Aslam, who previously directed Khan and Deepika Padukone in the 2010 comedy Break Ke Baad.  Aamir Khan, who launched his nephew's acting career in the 1988 film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and later as the lead in the 2008 rom-com Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, will once again be instrumental in his return. Their collaboration further strengthened with the critically acclaimed black comedy Delhi Belly in 2011.

Imran Khan previously opted out of a web series with director Abbas Tyrewala, citing a character that relied heavily on violence. He was also rumoured to be working on a project named Happy Patel, produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Vir Das.

Aamir Khan Productions boasts a diverse lineup featuring established directors and rising talents. Upcoming releases include Sitaare Zameen Par directed by RS Prasanna and starring Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh. Rajkumar Santoshi's historical drama Lahore 1947 features Sunny Deol, while Sunil Pandey's Pritam Pyare brings together Sanjay Mishra and Neeraj Sood. Sikandar: Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna shoot for festive dance number with 200 background dancers: Report

The highly anticipated collaboration between Salman Khan and AR Murugadoss has been making waves in the film industry. While the duo has primarily focused on intense action sequences for their upcoming film, Sikandar, they are now taking a break to add a touch of festivity to the project.

A recent report in Mid-day suggests that Salman and his co-star, Rashmika Mandanna, are currently shooting a vibrant dance number composed by Pritam. The song is set against the backdrop of a recreated Dharavi slum, creating a unique and energetic atmosphere.

The dance number features a massive ensemble of 200 background dancers, immersing viewers in the vibrant spirit of a festival celebration. Salman Khan is seen sporting a stylish look with a customized silver chain, earrings, and a black vest, while Rashmika Mandanna exudes traditional elegance in a salwar kameez.

AR Murugadoss, the film's director, is nearing completion of the song shoot and plans to resume action sequences by the weekend. The Mumbai schedule is expected to continue until October, followed by a trip to Europe for filming two romantic tracks.

According to our highly placed sources, Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri will feature in the recreated version of Labon Ko from Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007). "The song will be shot next week at Ladakh. The team plans to shoot a sensual romantic number featuring Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri. The original song was a chartbuster and the makers are confident to make this even bigger," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

Before the romantic song, Kartik Aaryan will shoot for 2 more songs in Mumbai this week. "It's the title track and another romantic number that they will shoot. The music album of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will have 5 chartbuster numbers," the source promised.

Kangana Ranaut sells Bandra bungalow for Rs 32 crores amid Emergency release delays: Report

Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has made headlines again, this time for selling her bungalow in Mumbai’s upscale Bandra area. The sale comes at a time when her much-anticipated film Emergency is facing delays due to complications with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). According to a report in Hindustan Times, Kangana sold her bungalow, located in the Pali Hill area of Bandra, for Rs 32 crores. The sale was finalised on September 5, 2024.

Details of the Property Sale Kangana had purchased the property in September 2017 for Rs 20 crores. The bungalow, covering a built-up area of 3,075 square feet, also includes a parking space of 565 square feet. The buyer, Shweta Bathija, is a partner at Kamalini Holdings, a company based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The transaction involved a hefty stamp duty of Rs 1.92 crores and a registration fee of Rs 30,000, as per property registration documents accessed by Zapkey.

Kangana is yet to publicly comment on the sale of the bungalow.

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that Kangana’s bungalow has been a topic of controversy before. In 2020, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished portions of her Bandra property, citing illegal construction. Kangana had claimed that this action was politically motivated due to her ongoing public feud with the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government at the time.

Coming to the professional front, as mentioned above, she is currently gearing up for film Emergency. The film, which was initially slated for release on September 6, has faced criticism from several Sikh organisations and delays in certification from the CBFC. While the film has recently received a UA certificate, the board has not handed over the same to the makers due to legal issues.

Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna to shoot two songs - dance number and a romantic ballad - in Europe for Sikandar

Over the last year, we have been the first to inform our esteemed readers about several aspects of Sikandar. And now, we have another exclusive information about this Salman Khan led action entertainer produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by AR Murugadoss. Our reliable sources have confirmed that Salman Khan and his leading lady, Rashmika Mandanna will be off to Europe by the end this year to shoot extensively for songs.

"Pritam has composed two chartbusters for Sikandar and producer Sajid Nadiadwala plans to shoot it on a big scale in Europe. The recce is presently underway and the exact locations will be locked soon. Sajid is confident to deliver a chartbuster album with Salman Khan and Pritam, yet again after Kick," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source further added that apart from the two songs, Sajid plans to shoot some other key sequences in Europe. "The schedule is being planned at the moment, but as promised before, Sikandar is the biggest film bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala till date. Salman Khan as Angry Young Man in a lavishly mounted action entertainer by AR Murugadoss," the source told us further.

Sikandar is gearing up for an Eid 2025 release, and the two songs to be shot are original tracks. "It's a dance number and a romantic ballad," the source shared. Sikandar is the big-ticket Eid entertainer with Salman Khan taking on a big social racket, with Bahubali fame Kattapa as the antagonist.

Anubhav Sinha's series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, starring Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza, and Naseeruddin Shah, has found itself embroiled in a legal dispute. News agency ANI has filed a lawsuit against Netflix and the show's creators for allegedly using their archival footage without permission in four episodes. The series revolves around the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight IC 814.

According to a report by Bar and Bench, "ANI sues Netflix and makers of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack for alleged infringement of copyright and trademark. ANI says the show uses its footages showing the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, General Pervez Musharraf, and terrorist Masood Azhar without a licence." The agency has demanded the removal of these episodes from the streaming platform. Delhi High Court Issues Notice to Netflix Following the lawsuit, the Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Netflix and the other producers involved in the series. The court has requested a response from the defendants, with a hearing scheduled for Friday.

Sidhant Kumar, counsel for ANI, elaborated on the allegations, stating, "They have used copyright archival footage of ANI without licence. They have also used the ANI trademark. Since the series has come into such criticism, our trademark and brand name are being tarnished." Controversy Surrounding IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack This is not the first time IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack has stirred controversy. Earlier, the series faced backlash for using 'Hindu' code names for the terrorists involved in the real-life hijacking. In the show, the terrorists were referred to by names like 'Bhola' and 'Shankar,' while their real names were Ibrahim Athar, Shahid Akhtar Sayed, Sunny, Ahmad Qazi, Zahoor Mistry, and Shakir. It was later learnt that the nicknames used by a couple of terrorists was indeed ‘Bhola’ and ‘Shankar’ during the actual flight hijack.

In response to the controversy, Netflix has since added a disclaimer to the series, specifying the real names of the hijackers alongside the fictional code names used in the show.

Nivin Pauly demands investigation into false rape allegations, submits evidence of innocence

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has officially lodged a complaint demanding a thorough investigation into the false rape allegations made against him. Nivin's legal action comes after he was accused of sexual assault by a woman who claimed that the incident took place in Dubai. The actor has vehemently denied the accusations and has urged the authorities to uncover any conspiracy behind the complaint.

Nivin Pauly Files a Complaint to DGP and SIT Nivin Pauly has submitted a formal complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Kerala. In the complaint, he provided detailed evidence, including his passport, to prove that he was not in Dubai during the time of the alleged incident. He claimed to have been participating in a film shoot in Kerala when the complainant alleged the crime occurred. The actor has requested the police to expedite the investigation and clear his name from the case.

Along with his complaint, Nivin attached copies of his passport to verify that he did not travel abroad during the mentioned period. He also assured that he would fully cooperate with any ongoing investigations.

This comes days after Nivin Pauly addressed the media during an emergency press conference, where he reiterated his innocence and expressed shock over the accusations. According to reports, the complainant accused six individuals, including Nivin, of sexually assaulting her under the guise of offering a role in a film. The incident reportedly occurred in Dubai in November last year. Malayalam film producer AK Sunil was named as the second accused in the case, while Nivin was listed as the sixth accused.

The case was initially registered at the Oonnukal police station and has since been transferred to the SIT for further investigation.

Actors Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh are gearing up for the highly anticipated sequel to their 2019 hit De De Pyaar De, titled De De Pyaar De 2. While Tabu will not be returning for the sequel, Devgn and Singh are set to reprise their roles, with the addition of R Madhavan in a key part. The film’s next shooting schedule will commence in Punjab this September.

Punjab Shoot to Begin in September Following an initial shooting schedule in Mumbai, the team will now head to Punjab for a significant portion of the film's production. A report by Hindustan Times quoted a source saying, “The first shoot schedule was in Mumbai, but then Ajay had to leave for the Son of Sardar 2 shoot in the UK. R Madhavan, Rakul, and Ajay will shoot in Punjab for some time and then return to Bombay for the next schedule in October.” The Punjab schedule is expected to last 15-20 days, starting in mid-September.

In a notable casting update, R Madhavan will play a pivotal role as Rakul Preet Singh's father in De De Pyaar De 2. According to sources, his character will have several humorous interactions with Ajay Devgn’s character, Ashish. Details of De De Pyaar De 2’s Scenes in Punjab “The scenes in Punjab will mostly take place inside a bungalow and around the farms. The aim is to capture the beauty of the state while emphasizing the family scenes,” revealed the insider. The production team is working at full speed to ensure the film wraps up by the end of the year.

While the first film was directed by Akiv Ali, De De Pyaar De 2 will be helmed by Anshul Sharma. Sharma intends to retain the chemistry between Rakul Preet and Ajay Devgn from the original, while also bringing fresh elements to the story. The source also hinted at a surprise addition to the cast, possibly indicating a cameo that the makers are keeping under wraps.

His comments come as Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency faces censor troubles due to allegations of misrepresenting the Sikh community.

Gippy Grewal’s Demand for Sikh Representation in CBFC Gippy Grewal, currently promoting his film Ardaas Sarbat De Bhale Di, recently voiced the need for a Sikh representative on the CBFC. According to him, this inclusion would ensure better scrutiny of films that depict Sikhism or the state of Punjab. Grewal pointed out that while the CBFC can flag certain content issues, it may lack the cultural or religious understanding needed to identify potential misrepresentations of Sikh beliefs.

He stated that having a Sikh expert would help ensure that films with Sikh characters or religious themes are treated with sensitivity and respect. “The board can check on the larger things, but it is important for an expert member to check things from a religious perspective,” he told India Today. CBFC and Emergency Controversy Kangana Ranaut's Emergency, which was slated for release on September 6, has encountered a delay due to its pending approval from the CBFC. The film, set during the 1975 Emergency period in India, has reportedly sparked concerns among Sikh groups for allegedly misrepresenting the community.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), an influential Sikh religious body, has been particularly vocal, calling for the CBFC to ban the film and demanding that Sikh voices be included on the certification board. They argue that unilateral decisions taken without proper religious input have led to the misrepresentation of the Sikh faith in the media.

In a statement, the SGPC reiterated its stance, saying, “It is very important to include a Sikh member in the Central Film Censor Board, as unilateral decisions are being taken only because of the absence of a Sikh member.” Gippy Grewal’s Approach to Film Certification Grewal has set a different example with his upcoming film, which was shot at Hazur Sahib, a prominent Sikh shrine in Maharashtra. Before submitting his film for certification, he approached the management committee of the gurdwara to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to ensure that the film respected religious sentiments. He believes this kind of religious consultation should be a standard practice for films portraying Sikhism.

“Having a Sikh representative in the board is important for films which talk about Sikhism, represent the community, or represent the state of Punjab in any form,” Grewal said, adding that religious consultation can prevent misunderstandings and controversies.

The biopic Chhaava, an exploration of the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj played by Vicky Kaushal on the big screen, is a testament to the meticulous research and attention to detail that can elevate a historical drama. Director Laxman Utekar, driven by a commitment to authentic representation, embarked on a year-long journey to immerse himself and his team in the world of the 17th-century Maratha king.

As per a report in Mid-day, central to this endeavour was an extensive exploration of Maharashtra's historical towns and cities. Utekar and costume designer Sheetal Sharma ventured to Aurangabad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Nashik, Paithan, and beyond, delving into the cultural nuances and visual aesthetics of the era. Their quest for authenticity extended beyond the books and scholarly texts, as they sought firsthand insights from the very places where history unfolded. A source elaborated, “Some filmmakers love playing with whites and pastels that are far removed from the world they are depicting, but Laxman wanted to be authentic in his storytelling. When the team began their research by visiting Maratha towns, they found out that Indians are not about pastels, but about a blast of colours. Laxman and Sheetal visited several forts and museums in these cities and towns that further gave them an insight into the dressing and culture of that era. They also met historians, who studied that period.”

Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Sambhaji's wife Yesubai, wears stunning Paithani sarees that were sourced from local weavers. The team even purchased and restored old sarees with 500-year-old borders to ensure that the costumes were as authentic as possible. “For Rashmika’s look, the costume design team went to Paithan and Narayanpeth from where authentic Paithani and Narayanpeth sarees were sourced. Considering many fabrics used in that period were no longer available, they scoured museums and took pictures of the fabrics and textiles, which were then replicated by weavers. Some old sarees, including a few pieces that had 500-year-old borders, were also bought and restored. Rashmika has worn many Paithani sarees with Chandrakala designs,” the source said.

The team's dedication to detail extended to every aspect of the production. The look of the leading man, Vicky Kaushal, was carefully crafted to reflect the historical depictions of Sambhaji Maharaj. By studying statues and busts from various locations, the team was able to capture the king's distinctive features and mannerisms. The iconic throne scene in the film's teaser was inspired by a historical bust from Pune, while the accessories worn by the characters were sourced from local markets and museums. The costume design team meticulously researched and recreated the intricate jewellery and adornments of the era, ensuring that every detail was historically accurate. “The last image in Chhaava’s teaser, of Vicky sitting on the throne, has been designed based on a bust in Pune. The accessories have been sourced from Kolhapur, Sawantwadi and Ratnagiri. The jewellery as well as accessories had to have an old-world charm. So, Rashmika has worn the Lakshmi haar with a nath—a look that was replicated from images and artefacts found in museums. Sambhaji’s sword Bhavani was recreated from a museum in London, by production designers Subrata Chakraborty and Amit Ray,” the source added.

Chhaava, adapted from a Marathi novel written by Shivaji Sawant, sees Akshaye Khanna play the role of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and Divya Dutta steps into the role of Vicky Kaushal’s stepmother Soyarabai. The source concluded by saying, “With no logo of digital players on posters and trailers, Aamir aims to keep his communication clear – experience his content only on the big screen. According to a report by Fortune India, the actor made a significant contribution in taxes this year, surpassing other prominent figures from the entertainment and sports industries. His recent blockbuster hits, including Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, have not only captivated audiences but also generated substantial revenue, leading to a staggering tax payment of Rs. 92 crore.

Closely following Khan is Vijay, a celebrated Tamil actor whose consistent success has earned him a loyal fanbase and substantial income. His latest film, GOAT, which hit theatres on September 5, further cemented his position as one of the industry's top earners, resulting in a tax payment of Rs. 80 crore.

Salman Khan continues to command a massive following and remains a significant contributor to the Indian film industry. His upcoming film, Sikandar, is eagerly anticipated by fans, and his substantial earnings have translated into a tax payment of Rs. 75 crore.

Kangana Ranaut reacts after Bombay High Court refuses to order certification to Emergency: "I have become everyone’s favourite target"

Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency, which was set to release this week, has encountered a significant hurdle after the Bombay High Court declined to intervene in the certification process. The court's decision comes in light of a prior directive from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which had already instructed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to carefully examine objections raised against the film before approving it.

After Bombay High Court's order, Kangana Ranaut took to X, formerly Twitter, to react saying, “Today I have become everyone’s favourite target, this is the price you pay for awakening this sleeping nation, they don’t know what I am talking about they have no clue why I am so concerned, because they want peace, they don’t want to take sides.”

As per NDTV, a bench comprising Justices BP Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla highlighted that issuing orders would conflict with the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s instructions. The bench observed, “Judicial propriety prevents us from passing any orders today, as it would contradict the standing directive from another high court.” The panel further remarked that instructing the CBFC to act otherwise would put them in breach of the existing legal framework.

The Bombay High Court, however, emphasized that the CBFC should consider the raised objections carefully and reach a decision by September 18. The court’s statement alluded to a broader context behind the delay, stating, "We are aware that there are other factors at play. However, we shall refrain from making further comments." The next hearing is slated for the day after the certification deadline, leaving the film's release uncertain.

This judicial impasse follows a petition submitted by Zee Studios involved in the production of Emergency. The production house has urged the court to facilitate the release of the film, alleging that the CBFC has been unnecessarily delaying the issuance of the certification. The petition claims that the certification was already prepared but has yet to be formally issued. Legal representatives for the producers accused the board of acting arbitrarily, suggesting that external pressures may be influencing the process.

Adding to the controversy, earlier this week, a separate legal petition was filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court by certain religious organizations. These groups expressed concerns over specific scenes in the film, which they argue could potentially misrepresent their community or historical events, sparking unrest. The court responded to these concerns by directing the CBFC to give due consideration to these objections before any formal certification is granted.

The drama, based on a pivotal era in Indian history, was originally scheduled for a September 6th release. However, the objections raised, have pushed the release date into limbo. Several Sikh communities have accused the film of not only distorting historical facts but also presenting certain groups in a negative light, thereby inciting communal tensions.

The film's focus on a highly controversial period in Indian history, particularly the national emergency declared in the 1970s, was expected to stir debate. Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan's King to go on floors in January 2025 with Europe as the backdrop; will release in 2026

After the historic success of Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan gets back to the action genre with the Sujoy Ghosh film, King, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Siddharth Anand. The film has been in the pre-production stage for a while now and the makers have finally locked the timelines of the shoot. Bollywood Hungama has exclusive information that Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan will start shooting for King in January 2025.

"Shah Rukh Khan is leaving no stone turned to make King a spectacle for the big screen and is working with Sujoy and Sid to get the script and action sequences right. The idea is to make his return to the big screen special again, as King will mark his comeback to films after a gap of almost 3 years. The makers want to shoot for the film in specific weather conditions in Europe and January is when they intend to commence work on King," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

The source also tells us that King will be a full-length two-character film played by Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan with Abhishek Bachchan as the villain. "Shah Rukh Khan is the male lead of King and Suhana is playing his protege. The duo will take down Abhishek Bachchan in this action thriller. Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand are looking to bring King by mid-2026," the source told us further.

Apart from King, Shah Rukh Khan is reading a lot of scripts and one of them is the Aditya Chopra directed Pathaan 2, which will roll by the end of 2025, once the edit of King is locked.
