Sanam Teri Kasam to get sequel WITHOUT Harshvardhan Rane or Mawra Hocane: Report

Despite its lukewarm reception upon release, Sanam Teri Kasam has garnered a dedicated fanbase over the years. The heartwarming tale of love and loss, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, has resonated with audiences, leading to calls for a sequel. And it seems like those calls have been heard! 

According to a report by Hindustan Times, a sequel to Sanam Teri Kasam is in development. The original director duo, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, are set to helm the project, promising to continue the romantic saga that captivated audiences. Sanam Teri Kasam Sequel to Feature New Faces? The report quoted a source saying, “The makers want to make a sequel to Sanam Teri Kasam. However, it is at a very nascent stage currently. They have only started the casting process of the film, so it is still in pre-production.” 

The sequel, tentatively titled Jaanam Teri Kasam, will reportedly be a musical. The source further added, “It will feature a new cast; the makers didn't want to repeat the actors. The auditions are going on for the main leads currently, and they will look at the supporting cast afterward.” Sanam Teri Kasam Sequel to be Musical  Spilling beans on the upcoming project, the source shared, “Jaanam Teri Kasam will be a musical. The makers are looking for a female lead who can sing and has the looks and vibe of a singer, someone who is between 18-20 years old. The film's story will have a vibe similar to Aashiqui 2.” 

Though the report has generated excitement, fans have to wait for the official confirmation of the same.

Preeti Jhangiani rose to fame after making her Bollywood debut in the 2000 film Mohabbatein. She has since starred in numerous films, including Chehraa, Jaane Hoga Kya, Waah! Tera Kya Khena, Kaash Tum Hote, and more.

Delhi Crime creator Richie Mehta joins forces with Imagine Entertainment and Baweja Studios for Boy from Andaman

Delhi Crime and Poacher creator Richie Mehta, Imagine Entertainment and Baweja Studios partner on Boy from Andaman. The project is produced by Janice Chua, Rick Ambros, Bhhaskar De and Harman Baweja and directed by Parinaz Jal.

Richie Mehta will be the Executive Producer of the upcoming film Boy from Andaman. Making her directing debut is Parinaz Jal. The film's producers are Los Angeles-based Rick Ambros, Vancouver-based Bhhaskar De and Mumbai-based Sharmila Pinheiro and Harman Baweja. Janice Chua are spearheading the project on behalf of Imagine Entertainment. Harman Baweja, who runs Baweja Studios in Mumbai, has come on board as a producer.

Based on an original idea by Manu Chopra, the script is written by Jal and Chopra, Boy from Andaman tells the story of Mohan, a post office worker in Mumbai who comes across a letter addressed to "God" from a young boy who has survived the deadly tsunami of 2004 in the Andaman Islands. An unlikely friendship develops between the two through a series of letter exchanges before Mohan decides to travel to Andamans and save the boy.

Boy from Andaman delves into the profound themes of faith as experienced by two characters navigating vastly different realities. Says Chua who is producing for Imagine Entertainment, "I was deeply moved by Manu Chopra’s story when it was first introduced to me through Rick and Bhhaskar. I'm thrilled to collaborate with the talented Richie Mehta and first-time director Parinaz Jal, to bring this powerful script to life".

EXCLUSIVE: The Buckingham Murders goes the Delhi Belly and Dhobi Ghat way; Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer to release in original Hinglish and dubbed Hindi version

Kareena Kapoor Khan is on a roll. Last year, she was seen in the murder mystery Jaane Jaan, which became one of the most-watched films on Netflix. This was followed by the theatrical hit, Crew. Now, she's back with The Buckingham Murders. The teaser and posters have caught attention and now the team of the film is all set to launch the film's trailer on September 3.

Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned interesting details about the film's release. More than a week back, the makers of the film dropped two teasers, one in English and one in Hindi. A source told us, “As the title suggests, the film is set in Buckingham, England. To maintain authenticity, in the original Hinglish version, the dialogues of local actors are in English. Even the ones of Indian origin are speaking Hindi with an accent.”

The source added, “There is a certain audience which might not be comfortable with a lot of English dialogues or accented Hindi. For them, the makers have decided to release a dubbed Hindi version. All the English dialogues and accented Hindi lines, in this version, have been dubbed in such a way that the desi audience would be able to decipher the goings-on.”

In the past, Aamir Khan similarly released Hinglish as well as Hindi versions of his films like Dhobi Ghat (2011) and Delhi Belly (2011). This boosted the collection of the film to some extent.

A trade source commented, “The decision to release two versions shows that the makers want the film to reach out to as many viewers as possible. The distribution company, Pen Marudhar, meanwhile, will surely get the right theatres for both versions across the country.”

 The Buckingham Murders will be released exclusively in cinemas on September 13, 2024. Apart from Kareena Kapoor Khan, the film features an exceptional ensemble cast, including Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. Directed by Hansal Mehta and written by Aseem Arrora, Kashyap Kapoor and Raghav Raj Kakker, the murder mystery is a Mahana Films and TBM Films production. It is presented by Balaji Telefilms and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, and first-time producer Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Ali Abbas Zafar returns to Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films for multiple original projects

Ali Abbas Zafar is an acclaimed Indian filmmaker known for his successful collaborations with Yash Raj Films. His notable works include Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Sultan, Gunday and Tiger Zinda Hai. Renowned for his commercial hits and engaging storytelling, Zafar has gained recognition for his ability to blend mass appeal with strong narratives.

Zafar is now returning to Yash Raj Films to collaborate and direct multiple original theatrical projects under his mentor Aditya Chopra’s banner.

“Ali Abbas Zafar is a film-maker who has gone on to make huge hit films at YRF like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Sultan, Gunday and Tiger Zinda Hai. So, this is an exciting development because Ali is technically returning to his alma mater,” said a trade source.

“We are sure Ali will scale greater heights as he creatively collaborates with Aditya Chopra on multiple big budget tentpole projects for YRF. The two haven’t yet locked the projects that Ali will now direct at YRF. But we can confirm that these will be original theatrical projects. So, now there is massive anticipation to see what fresh films will be made by Ali at YRF,” the source adds.

Telangana government considering a ban on Kangana Ranaut's Emergency following Sikh community concerns

A recent development has brought Kangana Ranaut's upcoming film Emergency under scrutiny, as members of the Sikh community have expressed strong objections to its content. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reportedly assured community leaders that the state government will explore the possibility of prohibiting the film’s release, pending legal counsel.

As per a report in PTI, the Telangana Sikh Society, represented by a delegation of 18 members and led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon, met with government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir at the state Secretariat. During the meeting, the delegation submitted a formal appeal, raising serious concerns about the film’s depiction of the Sikh community.

According to Shabbir, the Sikh leaders are deeply troubled by certain portrayals in Emergency, which they believe cast the community in a negative light. The delegation argued that the film’s portrayal of Sikhs as antagonistic figures is not only "offensive" but also harmful to the community's reputation and social standing. This representation, they claimed, could perpetuate harmful stereotypes and mislead audiences about the true nature of the Sikh community.

In response to these concerns, Shabbir brought the issue to the attention of Chief Minister Reddy, who indicated that the state government would decide on the matter after seeking legal advice. Banning the film in Telangana is being considered as a way to address the community’s grievances and prevent any potential backlash.

Earlier this week, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex body responsible for the management of historical Gurdwaras, issued a legal notice to the producers of the film, including Kangana Ranaut, alleging that the movie misrepresents Sikh history and contains scenes that have deeply offended the Sikh community. The SGPC's legal notice demanded the immediate removal of objectionable scenes from Emergency and called for an apology from the filmmakers to the Sikh community. The SGPC also insisted that the film's trailer, which was released on August 14, be taken down from all public and social media platforms. REVEALED: This is what Rajkummar Rao's deleted cross-dressing scene in Stree 2 was all about

Stree 2 was released almost two weeks back and yet, the excitement around the film refuses to die down. Yesterday, its lead actor Rajkummar Rao posted a picture from the sets of the film. It features him in a female avatar and clad in a purple sequin skirt, a red top and a golden shrug. The actor, in the caption, mentioned that it was one of his favourite scenes from the film but sadly, it didn’t make it to the final cut. However, he didn’t give any information about what the scene was all about.

Bollywood Hungama has found out exciting details about this scene. A source from the unit said, “It involved Rajkummar cross-dressing and turning into a woman to lure the villain, Sarkata. This is because Sarkata attacked only females and hence, Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) takes this unusual and risky step.”

The source added, “Jana (Abhishek Banerjee) is also a part of this scene. He fails to recognize Vicky and mistakes him for someone else, adding to the comic quotient of the scene.” Another source said that Vicky’s heels break and it also contributes to the madness. Some comedy also happens over his wig, as per the source.

In the Instagram post, Rajkummar Rao also asked his followers, ‘Kya aap log dekhna chahte hain ye scene film mein? Aap sab batao’. Stree 2’s lead actress Shraddha Kapoor excitedly commented that this scene should be added to the final cut. Writer Niren Bhatt also commented that he wanted the film’s extended cut to be out.

It now remains to be seen if the said scene is added to the prints of Stree 2. An exhibitor told us, “This is often done by makers once their film is a hit. They might remove some scenes or a song if they feel their film is getting lengthy. After the film is accepted, the deleted portion gets added. In recent times, a song featuring Akshay Kumar and Govinda in Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014) was added after a week. A sensual song of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in De Dana Dan (2009) too made it days after its release.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan DEFENDS "Pregnancy Bible" title in Madhya Pradesh HC: “No intentions to hurt”

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has finally responded to the legal notice issued to her by the Madhya Pradesh High Court over her book, 'Kareena Kapoor Khan's Pregnancy Bible'.

In her reply to the notice, the actress objected to the petition that sought a ban on the sale of her book, claiming that the title "hurt the religious sentiments" of a community. Kareena's lawyers, Divya Krishna Billaiya and Nikhil Bhatt, stated that the actress had no intention of offending any religious beliefs.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has scheduled the next hearing in the matter on September 10.

Kareena's lawyer, Divya Krishna Billaiya, categorically denied the allegations of hurting religious sentiments. She stated that the book was not intended to offend any community. 

Having said that it is worth mentioning here that in one of the posts to promote her book, Bebo wrote, “This has been quite the journey… both my pregnancies and writing my Pregnancy Bible. There were good days and bad days; some days I was raring to go to work and others where I struggled to get out of bed. This book is a very personal account of what I experienced both physically and emotionally through both my pregnancies.”

Earlier, social activist Christopher Anthony from Jabalpur had filed a petition against the book's title, arguing that the word "Bible" was disrespectful to the Christian community. He claimed that the Bible is a sacred text and comparing it to a pregnancy memoir was inappropriate.

Kareena's book, 'Kareena Kapoor Khan's Pregnancy Bible', was published in August 2021 and had initially gained popularity, even making it to the bestsellers list. However, the controversy surrounding its title led to a legal notice from the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

EXCLUSIVE: Binny And Family postponed; to now release on September 20

The debut film of Varun Dhawan’s niece Anjini Dhawan, Binny And Family, was all set to release on August 30. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that its release has been postponed.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Binny And Family will now be released on September 20. The decision was taken collectively by the makers. They are overwhelmed with the response generated by the film at the test screenings. Also, those from the film industry, who have seen the film, have raved about the film’s subject and the performances. Hence, the producers realized that they should look at the best release period. After careful analysis, they realized that September 20 is apt and this is how the new release date was locked.”

It now remains to be seen when the trailer of the film will be unveiled. An industry expert commented, “Interestingly, Grandparents' Day will be celebrated on Sunday, September 8. Since the film also revolves around the relationship of a girl with her grandmother and grandfather, the makers can make good use of it for the promotions.”

Besides Anjini Dhawan, Binny And Family also stars Pankaj Kapur, Himani Shivpuri, Rajesh Kumar, Naman Tripaathy and Charu Shankar and is written and directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy. It is produced by Mahaveer Jain Films and Wavebrand Productions and presented by Ektaa R Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, Shashank Khaitan and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.

Binny And Family will now be released alongside Yudhra. Directed by Mom (2017) director Ravi Udyawar, it stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, Malavika Mohanan and Raghav Juyal, it is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. The first look posters were unveiled yesterday and they give the impression that Yudhra will be a violent action entertainer.

Interestingly, Balaji Telefilms also has one more film in September – The Buckingham Murders. It is produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and also Kareena Kapoor Khan. The talented actress also stars in the film in a lead role. The murder mystery is directed by Hansal Mehta.

Kangana Ranaut receives death threats ahead of Emergency release, seeks police action

Harjinder Singh Dhami, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), has publicly demanded a ban on the film, asserting that it misrepresents Sikhs and perpetuates harmful stereotypes.

Dhami's criticism comes amid ongoing concerns about Ranaut's past remarks, which have been perceived as anti-Sikh and anti-Punjab. These allegations have only intensified the backlash against her latest project, Emergency. Death Threats Surface Online The situation escalated when a video featuring Punjabi influencer Viky Thomas Singh surfaced on social media. In the video, Singh is seen issuing a chilling threat to Kangana Ranaut, referencing historical figures who were involved in acts of violence. Singh's words, "Agar hum sar katwa sakte hai toh sar kaat bhi sakte hai," (If we can sacrifice our heads, we can also take heads) have sparked widespread concern.

Another man in the video threatened that if the film is released, Kangana would be met with violence, not only from Sikhs but from people of other faiths as well. The video quickly went viral, prompting a strong reaction from the public and raising serious concerns about Ranaut's safety. Kangana Ranaut Seeks Police Intervention In response to the threats, Kangana Ranaut used social media to appeal for police protection. She tagged the official accounts of the Maharashtra, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh police, urging them to investigate the matter and ensure her safety. "Please look into this," she wrote.

Kurup filmmaker Srinath Rajendran to make Bollywood debut with a film on conman Dhani Ram Mittal

Filmmaker Srinath Rajendran, known for his hard-hitting Malayalam thrillers, is set to make his Bollywood debut with a film inspired by the life of Dhani Ram Mittal, India’s most notorious conman and master forger. Rajendran, who gained recognition for films like Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kurup and Mohanlal starrer Koothara, is ready to bring his unique storytelling to the Hindi film industry with this interesting biographical drama.

The upcoming untitled film is based on the book ‘MoneyRam’, co-authored by Preeti Aggarwal and Chetan Unniyal. The book delves into the extraordinary life of Dhani Ram Mittal, also known as Junior Natwarlal, whose criminal career spanned an astonishing 45 years, from 1969 until his death in April 2024. Mittal’s life story, filled with daring cons and forged documents, is a true example of how "fact is stranger than fiction”.

Srinath Rajendran’s previous film, Kurup (2021), became one of the most successful Malayalam films and it was based on the real-life story of Sukumara Kurup, one of Kerala's most infamous fugitives, who has been on the run since 1984 after being charged with murder in an attempt to fake his own death and claim an insurance sum of ₹8 lakh. Known to have a penchant for this kind of thriller genre, Rajendran has once again chosen a compelling narrative for his Bollywood debut. He expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “Cinema today transcends borders and languages. I am thrilled to embark on this new journey in Hindi cinema. Dhani Ram Mittal, or ‘MoneyRam,’ is arguably the most fascinating conman in modern Indian history, and I can’t wait to bring his story to the big screen.”

The screenplay for the film is already in progress, with plans to begin shooting in early 2025. The film, produced by Insomnia Media and Content Services Limited, will be shot in Hindi and released in Hindi, Malayalam, and Telugu, aiming to captivate a Pan-Indian audience. However, the cast and other details are currently being kept under wraps.

Now a couple of days later, the former Bollywood star turned internet personality decided to respond to her critics in subtle and ‘classy, demure’ manner with a series of posts. Earlier during the weekend, the actress decided to share a couple of posts on the platform as a response to the severe flak she received.

Taking to Instagram, the actress posted a video where she is seen taking a mirror selfie in a casual denim and tee attire with the caption, “Very demure, very mindful”. Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force to release in January 2025: Report

Earlier this month, Bollywood Hungama reported that the promo of Sky Force which was expected to be attached to Stree 2 has not been unveiled. While the teaser launch of the film was postponed, we had also reported that the film’s release itself may be pushed further. Now, the latest update on that front is that the multi-starrer action aerial entertainer starring Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, and others has been pushed to the first half of next year in January.

It was said that Sky Force is set against the backdrop of the much-loved patriotic theme which prompted the makers to lock October 2, that is Gandhi Jayanti, as the date for the film’s release. While it seems that it will not be possible, we hear that the makers are keen on releasing the film in January 2025 and that too around the 76th Republic Day, which falls on January 26. The news has been shared by journalist Rahul Raut on X, earlier known as Twitter. However, there has been no official confirmation issued by the makers.

Meanwhile, in an earlier Bollywood Hungama report, a source from the exhibition sector had opened up about the decision of pushing the release of the film and had said, “The film has been pushed back and will not be hitting theaters on October 2. Akshay Kumar, considering his recent releases and their performance at the box office, is looking to reinvigorate himself before diving further into shooting Sky Force. The makers want some gap between two releases of Akshay Kumar.”

Also, if this turns out to be the case, then first weekend of October is free of any Bollywood releases, paving way to the much-hyped Hollywood entertainer Joker 2 aka Joker: Folie à Deux as a solo release. The film marks the return of the DC supervillain franchise starring Joaquin Phoenix as the leading man and Lady Gaga as the much-loved Harley Quinn.

Speaking of Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force, the film is a war drama directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani. Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, the film not only sees the actor reuniting with his Airlift co-star Nimrat Kaur and Atrangi Re co-star Sara Ali Khan but also marks the acting debut of Veer Pahariya.

Kangana Ranaut reveals she rejected Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan; mentions about Ranbir Kapoor ‘pleading’ her to do Sanju

Kangana Ranaut has always had the kindest words to share about the Khans in the industry-Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aamir Khan - as she asserted that they have always been generous and sweet to her. After showering praises on the Ek Tha Tiger actor at the Emergency trailer launch, Ranaut revealed that she continues to share a good bond with him even after rejecting films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan. In the same interaction, she also mentioned how Ranbir Kapoor had once ‘pleaded her’ to do a role in Sanju.

Amid the promotions of Emergency, Kangana Ranaut, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, made some candid statements regarding the movie offers she rejected wherein she revealed that she was offered roles in Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and YRF’s Sultan. The actress said, “Salman offered me a role in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, I was like ‘Yeh kya role diya hai?’ He then approached me for Sultan. I didn’t take that up. He was like ‘What more do I offer to you now?’” For the unversed, Kareena Kapoor Khan played the leading lady in the Kabir Khan directorial whereas Anushka Sharma played the female lead in the YRF massy entertainer.

However, she continued to shower her praises on Salman and added that they share a great camaraderie off screen and despite rejecting the films, the superstar continues to share a good bond with her. “Salman is so kind, he keeps talking to me. Even now, for Emergency, he said, ‘I have to see.’ So then he sent our common friend and said, ‘You go and see what kind of a film she has made.’ I showed it to him. He called me and said, ‘It’s a good film.’ I asked, ‘You have received the feedback but you didn’t watch it?’ He said, ‘No.’ That’s how he talks to me,” she added.

Meanwhile, she also mentioned about Ranbir Kapoor pleading her to do a role in Sanju. “Ranbir himself came to my house, and said, ‘Sanju mein role kar le please’. I didn’t do it, but that doesn’t mean…” she shared during the same interaction. The trio of Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and Alia Bhatt will be coming together for the first time on the big screen in the highly anticipated Love and War, which will also mark the reunion of Ranbir with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after over a decade. While any update about the film garners momentum as fans are excited to know more about this heavy budgeted entertainer, recently news suggests that the Sanju duo – Ranbir and Vicky will kick off the shooting before Alia, who will be joining them only after a couple of months.

It is being said that the makers will kick off the first schedule of the film in October and if the report is to be believed audiences will get to witness the fun camaraderie of Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in the film. According to a source quoted in a Pinkvilla report, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali begins his journey on Love And War by shooting for some sole sequences featuring Ranbir Kapoor and then moves on the friendship portions of RK and Vicky. He has planned and designed the schedule keeping the dates of his star-cast in mind.”

Alia Bhatt is expected to join the boys for the December schedule. From what we hear, the actress is busy shooting for the much-talked about Alpha with Yash Raj Films and it is being said that the team be completing a long schedule of the actioner this time. The source added, “Alia has allotted bulk dates to YRF for the female spy universe film, Alpha. She will start Love And War after calling it a wrap on Alpha by end of November/early December. Alia and Vicky have allotted over 200 days to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and won’t be shooting for any film till the director wraps up his epic love story. The idea is to call it a wrap on Love And War by the third quarter of 2025,” the source shared.

Speaking of Love and War, the film is expected to be an epic saga with a romantic backdrop that reunites Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranbir Kapoor after their alleged fallout post the latter’s debut in 2007. The film was announced on social media by the filmmaker himself, who also revealed that they are looking for releasing the film in Christmas 2025.

After the recent box office success of horror-supernatural movies such as Stree 2 and Munjya, Sony MAX is set to release supernatural thriller and Sony MAX Original Release: Adbhut as a direct-to-TV film release. Directed by Sabbir Khan and the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, alongside Diana Penty, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Rohan Mehra. The film, produced by Sony Pictures International Productions and Sabbir Khan Films, explores a world where the supernatural collides with reality.

Arshad Warsi joins Vikrant Massey in Rajkumar Hirani's OTT debut Pritam Pedro; shoot to begin in November in Goa: Report

Arshad Warsi is set to reunite with his Munna Bhai filmmaker, Rajkumar Hirani, for his anticipated OTT series. The cyber-crime thriller, tentatively titled Pritam Pedro, will also feature Vikrant Massey in the lead role. Hirani is stepping into the world of digital entertainment with this project. While he will serve as the showrunner-producer, his assistant director, Amir Satyaveer Singh, will helm the series.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the series, set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar, revolves around two quirky cyber cops, Pritam and Pedro, played by Vikrant Massey and Arshad Warsi, respectively. The source from the creative team revealed, “While Raju sir is known for his comedies, this series sees him explore a crime drama with his signature humor. He may even direct a couple of episodes himself.”

Arshad Warsi's Pedro is a seasoned cop with traditional methods of solving crimes. In contrast, Vikrant Massey's Pritam is a young tech whiz who uses advanced technology to crack cases. If all goes according to plan, Pritam Pedro will begin filming in Goa in November. The production team initially considered locations in North India but ultimately settled on the picturesque coastal state. Additional shooting will also take place in Mumbai and Pune. Arshad Warsi has been in the news, thanks to his interview to Unfiltered by Samdish’s YouTube channel. Earlier, he got the flak after he commented that “Prabhas was like a joker in Kalki 2898 AD”. In the same interview, he also said that he was paid Rs. 75,000 instead of Rs. 1 lakh that was promised to him for choreographing a song for Boney Kapoor’s production Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993), starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. Arshad said that he quoted Rs. 1 lakh for the shoot and that he would take 4 days to complete his work. He said, “The production guy requested me to finish the song sooner, because shooting for four days would increase costs. I told him I’ll try my best, and we worked very hard to get the song done, but we finished in three days. I thought that the production would be happy. I went to get my cheque, and they gave me Rs 75,000. I said, ‘I just saved you an entire day’s shoot, you should pay me more!’ He said, ‘No, for four days it’s Rs 1 lakh, and for three days it’s Rs 75,000’.”

Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to Boney Kapoor for his side of the story. Boney said, “I read his statement and I laughed. 1992 mein shoot kiya aur yeh abhi baat kar raha hai iske baare mein. At that time, he was not a star. Who would have paid him such a huge amount?”

He explained, “It was Pankaj Parashar who directed the full title. It was divided into two parts. It was shot in James Bond style and a part of it was done in Singapore or Hong Kong. There were too many things happening and Tutu Sharma was handling the production.”

He also said, “We thought that it would take four days but Pankaj finished it in three days. I didn’t even remember this episode. He was paid Rs. 25,000 per day. Hence, he was paid Rs. 75,000 for three days. It was not like (he was promised a certain amount).”

Did Arshad Warsi ever mention this episode to Boney Kapoor? The filmmaker replied, “No. We were a part of a TV show together. Malaika Arora and Farah Khan were also a part of it. He never mentioned it and now, suddenly he talks about it. Everybody wants media attention now and I am a soft target.”

Bollywood Hungama also spoke to Pankaj Parashar and he said that he was not aware of the commercials, “I was not involved with the payments. I was directing the song as a favour to Boney. I don’t think Boney even knew ki kaun kisko kya payment kar raha hai. I think Arshad said it in humour.”

But he noted, “Arshad says that teen din mein usne shoot khatam kiya. But it was me who completed the song in 3 days. I was the director while he was a newcomer choreographer. He didn’t control the shoot, I did. But anyway, let him take credit and let’s not make an issue out of this episode.”

Samrat Mukherjee Denies Involvement in the Accident In an interview with Times Entertainment, Samrat Mukherjee stated that he is based in Mumbai and is not the same person who was involved in the accident. He further explained that the actor in question is a television star based in Kolkata.

He said, “I would like to clarify that the actor Samrat Mukherjee, who met with an accident is not me. The actor Samrat Mukherjee is based in Kolkata and I am a filmmaker, owner of Filmalaya studios, based in Mumbai. Since morning I have been getting calls and tired now, telling them how I am not the same Samrat. It is reported that the actor who met with an accident belongs to our family, but it is not true.” The Real Samrat Mukherjee The Bengali actor who was arrested is a television star known for his work in the Sun Bangla series, Akash Sumon. The motorcyclist who was injured in the accident was taken to a hospital for treatment.

While the filming began in June 2024, a new report reveals that the next shooting schedule will focus on delivering three intense action sequences. Action has always been a strong suit for both Khan and Murugadoss. Their first-time teaming up on Sikandar guarantees a film that's a visual spectacle, packed with high-octane stunts.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the crucial next schedule kicks off on August 26 at Chitrakoot Grounds in Mumbai, and the team is already gearing up to capture these groundbreaking sequences. Murugadoss views these fight scenes as the film's centerpiece and plans to execute them on a grand scale. The first sequence promises to be a showstopper, featuring Khan suspended from a great height while engaging in a thrilling hand-to-hand combat sequence. “The choreography will blend aerial acrobatics with close-quarters combat,” a source revealed. “This scene, which also includes special effects, is expected to be one of the most visually stunning parts of the movie.”

The second scene in question is an elaborate car chase, a heart-pounding spectacle complete with exploding vehicles and high-speed crashes. The third sequence promises a brutal and raw showdown between Khan's character and the film's antagonist. “Here, Salman's character will have a face-off with the primary antagonist in a brutal brawl,” adds the source. “The director wants it to be raw and bloody.”

Riteish Deshmukh has raised his voice in response to reports of two young girls, aged three and four, being sexually assaulted at a school in Badlapur, Thane. The actor expressed his outrage on Twitter, stating that the offender should face the "harshest punishment."

“As a parent am absolutely disgusted, pained and raging with anger!! Two 4 year old girls were sexually assaulted by the male cleaning staff member of the school. Schools are supposed to be as safe a place for kids as their own homes. Harshest punishment needs to be given to this demon. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his times gave the guilty what they deserved - Chaurang- we need these laws back in action.”

Sections 65(2) (rape of a girl under twelve years of age), 74 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty), 75 (sexual harassment offenses), and 76 (assault or criminal force with intent to disrobe) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act provided the legal grounds for the accused’s arrest.

Angry Young Men: Zoya Akhtar reveals that Salman Khan taught her how to ride a bicycle

The documentary Angry Young Men was released on Amazon Prime Video today, that is, August 20, and it educates viewers about some fascinating trivia. It is about the glorious career of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, who were known as Salim-Javed and how they changed the course of Indian cinema. A documentary on them would be incomplete if it didn’t focus on their split, which shocked and saddened the industry as well as fans. It also consists of interviews with their family members and the bond they shared with each other.

Farhan Akhtar spoke about Salim Khan’s children, “All my memories (of childhood) hugely involved spending time, especially with Sohail and Alvira. Salman and Arbaaz were older than I was. So, as much as I wanted to hang out with them, I don't think they wanted to hang out with me (laughs). I was like a proper kid-kid, like, just running around doing stupid things like eating grass (laughs)!”

Salman Khan said, “It was like everyone was like family. Anyone could go to anyone's house. I taught Farhan and Zoya how to cycle.”

Farhan Akhtar’s filmmaker sister Zoya Akhtar remembered this bicycle episode, “I was just kind of struggling and I remember Salman was like, 'Just go for it. Nothing is going to happen. You'll fall. Then you'll get up and you'll go again'. And it's something that stays, you know.”

Farhan Akhtar also opened up on what happened after the split took place, “To a certain degree, I mean, of course, it did have an effect because you realize that something is not the same. But, at no point did I ever feel like I can't go there.”

Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Diler makers ditch London for Mumbai amidst UK unrest; filming to commence in September: Report

Ibrahim Ali Khan’s upcoming sports drama, Diler, has hit a roadblock in its production schedule. The film, helmed by director Kunal Deshmukh, was initially slated for a significant portion of its shoot in the UK. However, due to the escalating unrest and anti-immigration protests in the country, producer Dinesh Vijan has made the crucial decision to cancel the London leg entirely.

According to the report in Mid-day, the production team had conducted a recce and look tests in London towards the end of July, with a comprehensive shooting schedule planned. However, the deteriorating situation in the UK prompted the makers to prioritize the safety of their cast and crew. As a source close to the production revealed, “In July-end, the team did recce and look tests in London. Kunal had lined up a straight schedule during which significant portions of the film would have been canned. But after the situation worsened, the makers felt it would be very expensive to hire exhaustive security.”

With the safety of his team being paramount, Dinesh Vijan has opted for a complete overhaul of the shooting plan. The production is now on a frantic search for suitable locations within India. “For Dinesh, his unit’s safety is paramount. So, he scrapped the London leg and instructed his team to consider domestic locations,” the source added. Mumbai is currently the focus of the location scouting, intending to commence shooting in the first week of September.

The sudden change in plans is undoubtedly a setback for the film, but it highlights the producer's commitment to the well-being of his team. Diler, which is reportedly centered on the life of a marathoner, marks Ibrahim Ali Khan's second film after his Bollywood debut, Sarzameen, opposite Kajol and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will lead the evening’s proceedings, alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. The night will shine brightly with the presence of two legends of Indian cinema: Shivaji Satam and Asha Parekh.

In a first, the Maharashtra State Government will simultaneously present the 58th and 59th State Film Awards. Veteran actor Shivaji Satam will be honoured with the Chitrapati V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the silver screen. Alongside him, Asha Parekh will receive the Late Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating her grace, talent, and enduring influence in Indian cinema. These awards, accompanied by cash prizes, citations, and beautifully crafted trophies, symbolize a lifetime dedicated to the pursuit of artistic excellence.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the ceremony will also recognize the storytellers who shape the industry’s narrative. Writer-director-actor Digpal Lanjekar will be awarded the Chitrapati V. Shantaram Special Contribution Award, while the Late Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award will be presented to the filmmaker N. Chandra, whose work has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. The singer Anuradha Paudwal will be honoured with the Lata Mangeshkar Award for 2024. Additionally, actress Rohini Hattangadi and singer Sudesh Bhosle will be recognized for their significant contributions to cinema and music.

Mudassar Aziz has expressed his dismay over the censorship of his latest directorial venture, Khel Khel Mein, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The film, which marks Fardeen Khan's return to the big screen after a 14-year hiatus, has seen crucial segments edited out by the UAE Media Regulatory Office, leaving the filmmaker disappointed.

Censorship Alters Fardeen Khan’s Character Arc One of the most significant cuts in Khel Khel Mein involves a key sequence in the climax, which is central to Fardeen Khan’s character development. The scene, which delves into the character’s sexuality, has been removed under local restrictions. This censorship has drastically altered the narrative for audiences in the UAE. 

A report by Mid-Day quoted a fan from Dubai, “This edit changes the narrative of Fardeen’s character. It’s disheartening to see such an important moment erased. I felt cheated when I found out from Indian cine-goers about this. Censorship like this denies audiences the full experience of the film’s powerful message.”

Another dialogue that was scissored reads, “Meri 10 saal ki beti ki soch aapki soch se behtar hai.” This line, which resonates with the film’s themes of progressive thinking and societal change, was also deemed inappropriate for the UAE audience. Mudassar Aziz’s Response to the Censorship Mudassar Aziz, while acknowledging the disappointment, focused on the broader impact of the film. “I’m a filmmaker. To write all sorts of characters and raise topics of conversation is my professional and moral duty! Khel Khel Mein does that. While it’s heartbreaking to see that something so relevant, and done with so much dignity, found its way out of the UAE release, I’m thrilled at the applause that [the rest] of the world is sending my way for those very scenes,” Aziz told Mid-Day. Fardeen Khan Stands by the Film’s Message Fardeen Khan also weighed in on the situation. “Through this role, I hoped to contribute to a conversation that is necessary and relevant. While edits may have been made, the intention behind the role—that of acceptance—remains unchanged, and I stand by the message’s importance,” he said.

Speaking of the film, besides Fardeen, it also stars Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, and Taapsee Pannu, among others. It was released on August 15 with Vedaa and Stree 2.

Aamir Khan in talks with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for pan-India project: Report

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is reportedly in advanced discussions with acclaimed Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a highly anticipated pan-India film. According to a recent report by Telugu entertainment portal Aakashavaani, Aamir is keen to collaborate with Lokesh on a project that promises to resonate across the entire nation.

While the collaboration is yet to be officially announced, sources suggest that Aamir, Lokesh, and the production house Mythri Movie Makers are deep in discussions to finalize the details. If all goes as planned, an official announcement could be made in the near future, confirming what is expected to be a landmark project in Indian cinema.

Lokesh Kanagaraj has established himself as one of the leading filmmakers in the Indian film industry. His last directorial venture, Leo, starring Vijay, was released in 2023 and became a massive hit. Leo was the third installment in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, following the success of his previous films Kaithi and Vikram. He is currently working on his upcoming movie Coolie starring Rajinikanth.

Aamir has also been active on the production front. He recently produced Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao. The film was screened at the Supreme Court of India on August 9, with Aamir in attendance.

Kangana Ranaut reveals that she did not want to work with the Khans because their film heroines are ‘prototypes’; says, “I want to be an example of a woman who is the top-most actor who has not worked with Khans”

Known popularly as the Khan trio, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan who enjoy fandom worldwide, have often been the dream co-stars of every other celebrity in the industry. And very few actresses like Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, and in the current generation actresses like Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif, and Kareena Kapoor Khan have worked with the stars which have definitely helped them boost their careers as an actress. However, Kangana Ranaut recently revealed that as she a female artist she wanted to break this trend to be the only A-list actor to have not worked with the Khan films.

In an interview with podcast, Kangana Ranaut opened up about how she appreciates the kindness and generosity of the Khans but at the same time, asserted that she cannot be their leading lady. She said, “I refused Khan-led films. All Khans are very nice to me, they are very kind to me, and they have never misbehaved with me. Yes, there are people who have misbehaved with me but Khans were not one of them. But I said no to their films because their films are prototypes wherein the heroine will have two scenes and one song. So I said I don’t want to do that. I want to be an example of a woman who is an A-lister, the top-most actor who has not worked with Khans,”

She further asserted that she wants to be known as the actress who made it to the top without the help of Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, or Aamir Khan. She went on to add, “I wanted to do my best for women who were going to come after me and no Khans can make you successful, no Khans can make you successful, no Kumar can make you successful, no Kapoor can make you successful. I said no to Ranbir Kapoor’s films, I said no to Akshay Kumar’s films. I didn’t want to be the prototype that only a hero can make a heroine successful. Aisa nahi hai, you can be successful on your own as well. I set that example.”

On the work front, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for the release of her film Emergency which features her in the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film, that is also directed by her, features an ensemble supporting cast and is slated for release on September 6.

Imtiaz Ali reveals that John Abraham was the original choice for Rockstar; expresses surprise that Nargis Fakhri got flak but has been accepted without complaints during re-release

Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar (2011) had a decent run in cinemas but over the years, it achieved cult status. It re-released this year and drew housefull crowds, surprising the industry and trade. During an interaction with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day, Imtiaz spoke about it and also confessed that John Abraham was the original choice for the role of Jordan played by Ranbir Kapoor.

Imtiaz Ali said, “There are certain things that don’t happen in life. So, you don’t know how it would be if it had happened. If John had done that film, would it have affected in some way as an actor or would he have taken a different route, we don’t know.”

Imtiaz Ali was slammed for casting Nargis Fakhri in Rockstar. Imtiaz Ali revealed, “Nargis’ mother is from Prague but settled in America. She had gotten married to a man who was from a different nationality. Nargis, strangely, had never been to Prague or the Czech Republic. But through her mother, she had the passport of the Czech Republic.”

He added, “She, for some reason, was in Amsterdam. I had gone for recce for Rockstar in Prague. She was one hour away by flight from me. I asked her if she could meet me in Prague. She replied, ‘Yes, I can as I have the Czech passport. Also, it’s my mother’s land’. We met in an exotic location in Prague.”

Imtiaz Ali explained his rationale behind casting her, “The reason I cast her is because I wanted a ‘dil todne ki machine’ look. She had to be unattainable, you can only aspire to have her. She was out of anybody’s league, even Ranbir Kapoor’s!”

He then said, “She gave a wonderful performance but the fact of the matter is we could not take out her real identity from her, which is that of an American girl. We didn’t factor in that aspect.”

Imtiaz added, “Now, Rockstar has had a re-release and had a tremendous run. When you go to see the film now, nobody complains about Nargis! This generation has accepted her because somehow, they are also aware of people like Nargis who are a bit more Westernized. And she’s from Jackson Heights and you see that her. You don’t see St Stephen’s in her. She’s not a Kashmiri girl. In scenes where she’s not talking or not just feeling, she’s outstanding in the film.”

It seems that audiences loved the heartwarming and relatable narrative and now it has carved out a special place in the ongoing Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024 (IFFM). Dunki received a prestigious honor as it was awarded the prize for Equality in Cinema.

Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki is an action-packed drama that weaves together stories that blend humor, emotion, as it brings forth the experiences of people who crossed borders through the 'Dunki way'. Vijay Raaz fired from Son of Sardaar 2 after alleged unprofessional behaviour, says Kumar Mangat Pathak

Pinkvilla exclusively reported earlier this week that Ajay Devgn and his team had assembled a large star-studded cast for the comedy caper Son of Sardaar 2, which has begun production in London. We informed our readers that Ravi Kishan, Mrunal Thakur, Vijay Raaz, Chunkey Pandey, Vindu Dara Singh, Deepak Dobriyal, Mukul Dev, Ashwini Kalsekar, Kubbra Sait, and Sanjay Dutt will play key roles in the film. And now, in a startling turn of events, we have exclusively learned from the sets that the producers have decided to take a drastic step by pulling Vijay Raaz from the movie.

According to insiders close to the project, Vijay Raaz has allegedly been harsh with the producers and crew of Son of Sardaar 2 on the set. We asked Kumar Mangat Pathak, who co-produced Son of Sardaar 2 with Ajay Devgn, for a reaction. The filmmaker said, “Yes, it’s true that we have removed Vijay Raaz from the film because of his behaviour on the sets. He demanded for bigger rooms, vanity van and also overcharged us for the spot boys. In-fact, his spot boy was paid Rs.20,000 per night which is more than any big actor. UK is an expensive place, and everyone got standard rooms during the shoot, but he demanded premium suites. When we tried explaining the costing scenario to him, he refused to understand, and spoke rudely. His constant response was, ‘Aap Logo Ne Mujhe Approach Kiya, Main Kaunsa Saamne Se Aya Kaam Mangne’. While we tried to accommodate all his demands, the behaviour kept getting worse, as his demands never ended. He started to demand two cars for a 3 person staff to travel for as well. How can we do that? When the EP said no, he was rude with the EP (Executive Producer). After all the discussions, we decided to remove him from the film.”

Vijay Raaz had a different story to tell. He told Pinkvilla, “I reached the location before time for trial. I reached the van, and Ravi Kishan came to meet me. The EP, Ashish, and the producer Kumar Mangat came to meet me, followed by director Vijay Arora. I stepped out of the van, and spotted Ajay Devgn standing around 25 metres away. I didn’t go to greet him as he was busy, and I continued to speak to my friends around. 25 minutes later, Mr. Kumar Mangat came to me 0061nd said, ‘Aap Film Se Nikal Jaaye, Hum Aapko Nikal Rahe Hai’. The only misconduct from my end is, I didn’t greet Mr. Ajay Devgn. I didn’t even meet the crew, and these are the only people I interacted with. I was removed from the film 30 minutes of reaching the sets, as I didn’t greet Ajay Devgn. These are powerful people, and the chatter of misconduct doesn’t arise at all.”

According to Kumar Mangat Pathak, the problems began in Mumbai when Vijay Raaz signed on for the project. Mangat said, “Ajay Devgn isn’t someone who is waiting to be greeted by people. He always likes to be surrounded by creative people and treats everyone with respect. The story of him being removed for not greeting Ajay Devgn is false. We suffered a loss of at-least two crore for removing Vijay Raaz from the film and we would not take such a step for small matters. His behaviour was a major area of concern and there is no place for disrespect on the sets of our film, as we work like a family. He constantly told all our EP’s and even me that he isn’t in need of doing Son of Sardaar 2, and he is doing it only because we approached him.  He kept demanding bigger room, despite knowing that the rooms cost a bomb in UK. He refused to co-operate. The attitude is a problem and even we didn’t want to associate with a person having such mentality.”

Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD to stream on both Amazon Prime Video and Netflix from August 22

EXCLUSIVE: Sooraj Barjatya gives his FIRST reaction on winning the National Award for Uunchai: "I feel I have truly climbed my Everest today"

The winners of the 70th National Film Awards were announced today and Sooraj Barjatya won the Best Director award for his much loved film Uunchai (2022). The filmmaker, who has an insane fan following for his family dramas, spoke exclusively with Bollywood Hungamaabout the National Award win.

Sooraj Barjatya began by saying, "When I started with Uunchai, I was often told that it isn't my kind of film to make. It didn't have lavish sets, big song and dance numbers or celebratory outfits. But Uunchai came from my heart. As a director, I didn't pick the story.Uunchai's story picked me! And today, I thank that story for choosing me. Uunchaigave me my first National Award for Best Director. It's a beautiful journey that me and my film have had that comes to a perfect landing today!"

When asked how he felt on winning the National Award, Sooraj Barjatya said, "I am humbled to be honoured amongst the best that the country has seen in cinema during 2022. It takes me back 30 years, when Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) won the National Award for Best Film. The rush and happiness that I felt as a young director then was crazy! But today, as I get the National Award for Best Director for Uunchai, there is a sense of gratitude and calmness. The joy and happiness are much more internal today. As a director, my job for the last 35 years has been to keep telling stories. And I'm not done yet, there's much more to come!"

What does the National Award mean to him? Sooraj Barjatya smiled and replied, "Our National Film Awards unite our industry because they are a celebration of films made in every language. Winning the Best Director, at this stage, makes me feel humbled and honoured to the core. I feel I have truly climbed my Everest today. This immense recognition belongs to my entire team of senior actors and technicians, who fought the pandemic and shot at unheard locations with me."

When asked whom he would like to dedicate the award to, the filmmaker said, "Uunchaiwas a special film made in the 75th year of our production house. I would like to dedicate this award to Rajshri Productions and to all my elders in the family, under whom we continue to learn, to tell stories which can be inspiring, happy, and which help us trust each other and the power of goodness."

Uunchai starred Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Neena Gupta, Sarika and Parineeti Chopra. It is the story of three friends who, despite their old age, trek to the Everest Base Camp for the sake of their deceased friend. It was produced by Rajshri Productions (P) Ltd. along with Mahaveer Jain Films and Boundless Media. Neena Gupta also won the National Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
