Akshay Kumar wants Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra to play him in his biopic; reacts to viral memes on social media

Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra scripted history at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 where he won gold medal in javelin. He has become the first Indian to win gold medal in athletics and only second sportsperson after Abhinav Bindra to achieve this huge milestone. Back in 2018, the athlete, who had won at Asian Games, hoped that it would be great if someone made a biopic on him. He even mentioned that either Randeep Hooda or Akshay Kumar as the actors he liked.

Now, during Bellbottom promotions, Akshay Kumar has responded to Chopra’s suggestion. “I would say Neeraj Chopra is a very good-looking guy. Agar mera koi biopic karega, toh woh kar sakta hai (If a biopic is made on me some day, he could play me in the film),” the actor says.

Ever since Chopra’s win at Tokyo, there’s been a meme galore on Twitter. Akshay Kumar shows up in pretty much every other meme include one still from Saughandh where he is holding a stick. Akshay Kumar reveals he has seen the meme and loved it. Reacting to the meme, Akshay adds, "I saw that meme where I am holding a stick in my hand. It's from my first film Saugandh. People started saying, ‘Arey, abhi se practice chalu ho gayi! (He has already started practicing for Chopra's biopic)’. I found that very funny.”

BellBottom will be unlocking cinemas after a long haul. The film will hit the theatres worldwide on August 19, 2021.
