Dharmendra hospitalised after breathlessness; condition stable at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital

Bollywood legend Dharmendra, fondly known as the 'OG He-Man,' has been admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital after complaining of breathlessness. The news sparked immediate concern among his millions of fans and the wider film fraternity.

The 89-year-old veteran actor is currently under observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but latest updates from the hospital indicate his condition is stable. Journalist Vickey Lalwani shared an update on social media after reportedly contacting the hospital, providing reassuring details directly from a staff member.

“Dharmendra came in complaining of breathlessness. He is in the ICU and he is sleeping now. Nothing to worry, I asked? No, right now nothing to worry. He is stable. His parameters are okay—the heart rate is 70, the blood pressure is 140 by 80. His urine output is also good,” he stated in a social media post.

While initial reports had suggested the visit was for a routine check-up, the hospital’s confirmation that the actor was admitted due to difficulty in breathing has clarified the severity of the episode. Doctors are closely monitoring the nonagenarian star, and his sons, actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, are said to be by his side.

Despite his age-related health concerns, Dharmendra has remained remarkably active. He last appeared in the film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and is slated to star in the war drama Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan.

Huma Qureshi calls out lack of shows for her film Single Salma

Actor Huma Qureshi has expressed disappointment over the limited theatrical screenings of her latest film Single Salma, which released today on October 31. The actor took to Instagram to share her frustration after fans reported that the film was missing from cinema listings in several cities.

In her Instagram Stories, Huma reposted messages from fans who were unable to find a single show for the film in their areas. One fan from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, wrote, “I opened an online movie booking app to book tickets for Single Salma, but I was shocked to see that there is not even a single show in my city… It is quite sad that cinema people cannot give even a single show to a good actor like Huma Qureshi.” Sharing the message, Huma wrote, “My DMs are full of messages like this. More shows for Single Salma.”

In another post, Huma shared a message of support for her brother and the film’s producer Saqib Saleem, writing, “Will always keep fighting the good fight @saqibsaleem. More shows for Single Salma.”

The film, directed by Nachiket Samant, also stars Shreyas Talpade and Sunny Singh. It tells the story of a woman’s journey of self-love and acceptance, exploring themes of individuality and empowerment.

Single Salma has been caught in a dispute between its producers and major cinema chains over the Virtual Print Fee (VPF). This disagreement reportedly led to a restricted release, with the film being allotted very few screens across the country.

Fans and industry colleagues have voiced their support for Huma, urging theatre chains to increase the number of shows. The actor’s posts have since gained traction online, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by mid-scale films in securing fair screen time amid tough competition and high distribution costs.

Single Salma is produced by Star Studio18 and Elemen3 Entertainment.

Red Chillies hits back at Sameer Wankhede’s plea against The Ba***ds of Bollywood; says his image was already subjected to scrutiny

Red Chillies Entertainment has filed its official reply to Sameer Wankhede’s defamation suit against The Ba***ds of Bollywood, the Netflix show he claims was designed to tarnish his reputation. Wankhede, the former NCB officer who led the 2021 drugs case involving Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, had approached the court alleging that the makers had portrayed a character resembling him in both appearance and mannerisms.

In its response, Red Chillies Entertainment maintained that the series is a Bollywood satire, and all characters in it are depicted with deliberately exaggerated traits to heighten the humour. The production house argued that the complaint was an attempt to curtail artistic and creative freedom and described Wankhede’s stance as an instance of “hypersensitivity.”

The reply further pointed out that Wankhede’s image had already been subject to widespread public scrutiny long before the show’s release. According to the filing, the former officer’s involvement in the Aryan Khan case had drawn considerable criticism and ridicule, as reflected in news coverage, social media discussions, and public commentary at the time. Red Chillies stated that these materials clearly demonstrated that his reputation had been affected earlier, and that the lawsuit was an attempt to silence satirical portrayals that fall under creative expression.

Represented by senior advocates Neeraj Kishan Kaul and Shyel Trehan, the production company also requested the court to allow the show to remain intact, asserting that removing the contested scene would disrupt the series’ narrative flow. The makers clarified that the show does not directly name or reference Wankhede, and that the police officer character is merely depicted as an “overzealous” cop — a common trope in dark comedies and satires.

The case, which came up before Justice Purushindra Kumar on Thursday, has now been adjourned to November 10 for further proceedings.

The Ba***ds of Bollywood, streaming on Netflix, has drawn attention for its unapologetically sharp commentary on celebrity culture, media frenzy, and the moral ambiguity within the film industry — themes that continue to spark debate about where the line between satire and defamation should be drawn.

EXCLUSIVE: After Jolly LLB 3, Star Studio18-PVR Inox now fight over VPF for Huma Qureshi-starrer Single Salma

Bollywood Hungama has been at the forefront in reporting about the tussle between the national chains, namely PVR, Inox and Cinepolis, and the producers over the payment of VPF (Virtual Print Fee). Last month, the industry got a jolt after PVR Inox suspended the advance booking of the much-awaited film, Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, after its producers, Star Studio18, refused to pay VPF. The advance was halted twice, once just before 12 hours of the commencement of the first show. As per reports, the studio paid VPF but made it clear that they are doing so under protest and that they would continue with their discussion on this issue. More than a month later, the VPF has once again caused a rift, this time due to Single Salma.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Single Salma is also made by Star Studio18 and they once again requested a VPF waiver from PVR Inox and also Cinepolis. However, the request was not adhered to. The discussions are going on. If a solution is not found, Single Salma will find a release only in the non-national theatres of the country.”

As per trade sources, Single Salma is expected to get a release in around 200 screens. The film stars Huma Qureshi in the lead, and co-incidentally, she was also a part of Jolly LLB 3. Shreyas Talpade and Sunny Singh also feature in Single Salma.

In September, Bollywood Hungama had reported, “Viacom18 had signed an agreement with PVR Inox that they’ll pay VPF only until 2024. Hence, they felt justified in asking for a waiver since Jolly LLB 3 is a 2025 release. But PVR Inox argued that the agreement mentions that the studio will stop paying VPF, subject to other production houses doing the same. Since other producers continue to diligently pay VPF this year, they insisted that Viacom18 should also follow suit.”

On September 30, the Competition Commission of India (CCI), on September 30, 2025 directed an investigation against PVR INOX Limited over allegations of abusing its dominant position by continuing to levy VPF on film producers.

This judgment revealed that an agreement was signed by PVR Inox with Star Studio18 (aka Viacom18) as well as Yash Raj Films that included “sunset clauses”, that is, agreements to phase out the payment of VPF by December 2024. In response, PVR told the CCI that the sunset clauses for YRF and Viacom had not yet been implemented and were still subject to renegotiation. It stated that Yash Raj and Viacom are eligible for sunset clauses only if they stop paying VPF to other exhibitors/DCE providers.

BREAKING: Ranbir Kapoor’s Love And War bows out of Eid 2026 clash with Yash’s Toxic; to release post June 2026

Earlier in the morning, Yash and the producers of Toxic reconfirmed that the fairy tale for adults will hit the big screen as scheduled in March 2026, coinciding with the Eid 2026 period. But in a shocking turn of events, the industry is buzzing with reports on the delay of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next, Love and War. Reliable sources confirm that Love and War will be missing its Eid 2026 deadline, thereby averting the clash with Yash's epic, Toxic.

"It's a blessing in disguise, as it made no sense for two Pan-Indian films to clash on the same date. Love And War is running much behind its shooting schedule, and will now release in the second half of 2026. Around 75 days of shoot still remains, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has requested Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal to allot bulk dates till Summer 2026 to wrap up the film," a reliable source told Bollywood Hungama.

Love And War is sure to miss the Eid 2026 deadline. "The film is running approximately. 40 days behind schedule, and the earliest it can now be released is in the month of June 2026. Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will take a call on the film's release soon and officially announce the delay in its release."

The delay in Love And War also averts the off-screen clash of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, before their on-screen rivalry in Ramayana. And contrary to the speculations, it's Ranbir who is not arriving on Eid, and not Yash, who is on track to bring his action romance in March 2026. "Toxic is on schedule, and the makers are super confident of their product. It's one of those rare Indian films to be shot in Kannada and English."

More details on the release of Love And War are kept under wraps.

Stranger Things 5 trailer: Cast teases "next-level action’ and a "chaotic start" in the final season

The lights are flickering once again in Hawkins. Shadows crawl, memories linger, and the air crackles with the kind of electricity only Netflix’s most beloved world can summon. Netflix invites us back to the Upside Down as the trailer for Stranger Things Season 5 drops.

Counting down to the final chapter, the cast, creators, and executive producers of Stranger Things set the stage for what’s to come and where we find our characters at the start of the season, as told to Tudum.

Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) says, “Eleven is in training mode. She's in a warrior state, which is the first time you see Eleven like that at the beginning of a season. As for her mindset, all she is thinking about is protecting her friends. Her friends are her chosen family, so she will do whatever it takes to protect them and we're going to see that.”

Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) adds, “Dustin is kind of in a bit of a funk. I think everybody probably is considering the state that Hawkins is in, and it's getting a little bit harder for the gang to keep all the pieces together. We're all dealing with the day-to-day issues of what it is to try to keep everybody safe and figure out where Vecna is, while having a lot of unpacked baggage from the events in the previous season.”

Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) shares, “It's always been in the beginning of a season that everything is all good, but this is the first season we come into it and the stakes are the same as where we left off. We haven't defeated Vecna and the problem is still there. We're still trying to figure it out and we may not be able to figure it out, so you feel that burden on Lucas as well as everyone else on the show. Everyone is on edge and we’re all just trying to keep hope alive.”

Noah Schnapp (Will) asserts, “Will is back in Hawkins this season. He was out of Hawkins for the last season, so now we're seeing the effects of him being back in that realm. We kind of hit the ground running right away this season, which is really exciting and not how we've started any other season. Everyone is all in one place and we all have the same objective.”

Sadie Sink (Max) explains, “We [ended] Season 4 in a tough place for Max. Her final moments were her in a hospital bed. Eleven was searching for her in the void and couldn't find her, so Max is definitely not the way she once was. There’s still a small glimmer of hope, though, and her friends are hanging on to that.”

Finn Wolfhard (Mike) says, “Mike is back in leadership mode, and he’s kind of taken it more upon himself to help plan out these missions, and he and the whole gang are devoted to finding Vecna and ending this.”

Ross Duffer (Co-Creator, Executive Producer, Writer, Director) shares, “I think what's unique about this season is that it starts a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4. We usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element. But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.”

Matt Duffer (Co-Creator, Executive Producer, Writer, Director) adds, “They’re not experiencing normal life. Nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore…their movement is restricted, and there are Big Brother cameras everywhere. So not only are they active — their everyday, normal lives are anything but.”

Shawn Levy (Executive Producer & Director) concludes, “The action is next level, the visual effects are next level, but I'm also happy to say that the emotional center remains the same. And part of the magic of this show is that even as we evolve, even as the storytelling becomes more epic, it's always anchored in these characters that we love.”

SCOOP: Amazon Prime Video bags Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 for a staggering Rs. 110 cr; beats Netflix’s Rs. 100 cr offer

After making a mark in cinemas, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 will find its way on OTT, on October 31. Prominent streaming giant Amazon Prime Video will stream the film’s original Kannada version, as well as dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, for now. The Hindi version of the period drama will be released digitally a month later. Bollywood Hungama has learned of an interesting development that took place with regard to the digital deal.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers of Kantara: A Legend Chapter – 1 asked for Rs. 125 crores for the OTT rights, considering the buzz around the film. They approached Netflix and it agreed to offer Rs. 100 crores. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime Video gave a better deal and offered Rs. 110 crores for the streaming rights. This is how the film has made its way on Prime Video.”

This marks the second-highest OTT deal ever for a Kannada film. KGF - Chapter 2 (2022) still holds the top spot, with its digital rights fetching over Rs. 300 crores. Interestingly, both KGF and Kantara franchises are backed by Hombale Films, a banner that deserves credit for placing Kannada cinema on the global map through these monumental successes.

Kantara starred Rishab Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, Kishore and Achyuth Kumar in leading roles. It tells the story of a carefree young lad in a forest in Karnataka who rises as a hero when a greedy landlord, believed to be friendly with the villagers, tries to usurp the land treacherously. The villagers are devotees of Panjurli, a demigod protecting the forest's villagers and this aspect plays an important part in the story.

As for Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1, it stars Rishab Shetty along with Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram. This film attempts to delve deeper into the origins of the mythological tradition and ancestral conflict introduced in the first film. Both films are directed by Rishab Shetty. Interestingly, Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 ends with the promise of a sequel named Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 2.

The trailer hints at a sensitive and restrained take on patriotism a hallmark of Raghavan’s storytelling. A third-generation actor from the iconic Bachchan family, Agastya, son of Shweta Bachchan and grandson of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, who made his acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. With Ikkis, he takes a sharp turn into a more intense and realistic role.

But Agastya is special. That child is determined to forge his own path. Just like I once did. Like me, he won’t follow the herd.”

HISTORIC: Netflix pays RECORD Rs. 3.5 crores for Vash Level 2 and its dubbed Hindi version, HIGHEST ever for a Gujarati film!

A week ago, the Gujarati film Vash Level 2 and its Hindi-dubbed version, Vash Vivash Level 2, were released on Netflix on October 22. The move was significant as it’s rare for the streaming giant to pick up a Gujarati film. And that’s not all. Vash Level 2 has been procured by Netflix for a record price.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Netflix has paid a whopping Rs. 3.50 crores for the digital rights of Vash Level 2 and Vash Vivash Level 2. This is the highest price ever paid to a Gujarati film by an OTT platform.”

The source explained, “Netflix paid the record amount as Vash Level 2 is very well-made and has been well-received by the audience when it was released in cinemas. The makers had dubbed the film in Hindi, which also found its way into cinemas; this further motivated Netflix, as even non-Gujarati audiences had an opportunity to enjoy the film in the dubbed version. Thirdly, it belongs to the supernatural genre, which has a lot of takers globally.”

The source continued, “Another reason is that the Vash series is famous among moviegoers. It is common knowledge that the much-loved 2024 Hindi film Shaitaan, starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Jyothika, was a remake of the first part, which came out in 2023. Hence, there has been a curiosity to check out the second part. And lastly, Vash recently won the Best Gujarati Feature Film Award as well as the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Janki Bodiwala at the 71st National Awards. Janki also played the same role in Shaitaan and she, too, has become recognizable. All these factors prompted Netflix to go against the norm and pay the said amount for the rights of Vash Level 2 and Vash Vivash Level 2.”

Another industry insider commented, “As per the deal, Netflix will stream the film for 3 ½ years. Moreover, Netflix will be the only platform where both versions of the film will be available exclusively for a year. A year later, the makers will have the freedom to stream their film on some other platform as well.”

A prominent producer revealed that this is a proud moment for Gujarati cinema, “Earlier, Gujarati films used to be paid on a viewership basis and used to earn less than a crore through this arrangement. Hence, the Netflix deal of Vash Level 2 is significant. If the film gets sufficient views, it’ll encourage Netflix and other platforms to buy the rights of other Gujarati films, at a handsome price. It’ll also give an impetus to Gujarati filmmakers to experiment with topics and find an audience beyond the Gujarati diaspora.”

EXCLUSIVE: Runtime Breakdown - First Half of Baahubali: The Epic is 1 hour 42 minutes, second half is over 2 Hours

This Friday will see the release of Baahubali: The Epic. It combines two Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) into one part, as part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of the former. This is a novel experiment and has probably never been done before in the world. Some moviegoers and industry personalities doubted if viewers would rewatch a film that they have consumed repeatedly and that too in this unique form. However, the risk seems to have paid off. The advance booking down South and Overseas for the original Telugu audience is outstanding.

It is common knowledge that Baahubali: The Epic has a run time of 3 hours and 45 minutes. Bollywood Hungama has now learned about the duration of the first half and second half of the film. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “The pre-interval portion of Baahubali: The Epic is 1 hours 42 minutes and 33 seconds long. The second half is longer than 2 hours. The exact length of the second half is 2 hours, 3 minutes and 11 seconds. The total duration of the film, thus, is 3 hours 45 minutes and 44 seconds.”

Just 1 interval

In the past, such lengthy films have had not one, but two intermission points. Old-timers recollect that Raj Kapoor-starrer Sangam (1964), which was 238 minutes long, that is, 3 hours and 58 minutes long, had two intervals. Mera Naam Joker (1970) was 255 minutes long, that is, 4 hours and 15 minutes, and it also had two interval points. In recent times, Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994) had an interval twice after the longer cut was released in cinemas. Over the years, the twin interval system was dropped. Films like Mohabbatein (2000; 215 minutes), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001; 210 minutes), Animal (2023; 203 minutes), The Bengal Files (2025; 204 minutes) etc. have been released with just one intermission point.

Coming back to Baahubali: The Epic, Baahubali: The Beginning had a runtime of 159 minutes, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion clocked 167 minutes. This means that together, the two parts originally ran for a total of 326 minutes, or 5 hours and 26 minutes. In contrast, Baahubali: The Epic is just 225 minutes long, making it shorter by 101 minutes. It remains to be seen how the makers have condensed the two monumental chapters of the saga into one cohesive narrative without compromising on the grandeur, emotion, and continuity that made Baahubali a cultural phenomenon.

Did Pakistan designate Salman Khan a terrorist after Riyadh remarks? Here’s what we know!

Actor Salman Khan is at the center of a major international controversy after reportedly being declared a terrorist by the Balochistan government. The development follows his comments during an address at the Riyadh Forum, where he appeared to refer to Pakistan and Balochistan as separate countries—a statement that quickly went viral and sparked intense debate online.

According to widely shared posts on social media platform X, it is alleged that the Balochistan government has added Salman Khan’s name to Pakistan’s ‘Fourth Schedule’ under the country’s Anti-Terrorism Act (1997). This schedule is used to monitor individuals suspected of connections to extremist or banned organizations. If Salman Khan’s name is indeed on the list, it would subject him to strict legal scrutiny, travel restrictions, and ongoing government vigilance.

A notification dated October 16, 2025, attributed to social media user Nasir Azeem, has been circulated as evidence of the declaration. The document names Salman as an “Azad Balochistan Facilitator”; however, as of now, no credible Pakistani media outlet or official government channel has confirmed the document’s authenticity, raising questions about the veracity of the claims.

The uproar began after a video clip from the Riyadh Forum showed Salman Khan, while discussing the influence of Indian films in the Middle East, remarking that there are people in Saudi Arabia from “Balochistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan,” appearing to mention Balochistan separately. Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan were also present on stage at that moment.

Salman’s statement was, “Right now, if you make a Hindi film and release it in Saudi Arabia, it will be a superhit. If you make a Tamil, Telugu, or Malayali film, it will do hundreds of crores in business because so many people from other countries have come here. There are people from Balochistan, there are people from Afghanistan, there are people from Pakistan, everyone is working here”.

As it stands, Salman Khan has not commented publicly on the controversy, and the Balochistan government has not released any official statement confirming his inclusion on the Fourth Schedule of Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Act. The situation continues to develop, with observers awaiting authoritative clarification.

SCOOP: Rs. 20 crores spent on the GRAND Bhediya scene in Thamma; was shot under Amar Kaushik’s supervision

The grand Diwali release Thamma is a part of the much-loved Maddock Horror Comedy Universe and hence, it was expected that characters from the earlier films will make it in the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer. Way back in July, Bollywood Hungama had revealed that Varun Dhawan appears in the film, reprising the role of Bhediya. We also stated that the actor shot for 6 days and the scene in question would be a visual spectacle. Bollywood Hungama has now stumbled upon some fascinating details.

A source told us, “The makers decided to go all out with the scene of Betaal vs Bhediya. Hence, a mind-boggling amount of Rs. 20 crores was spent just on that sequence. Producer Dinesh Vijan was clear – the fight scene should have top-class VFX that should stun the viewers. After all, the scene is very crucial for the future of the universe.”

The source further said, “Amar Kaushik, the founder and mentor of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, serves as the producer of Thamma. But for the crucial scene of Bhediya, he was present on the set to supervise. A lot was at stake; so, Amar decided to be present when the scene was being filmed. Thamma’s director, Aditya Sarpotdar, was informed about it in advance and he understood Amar’s point of view. He was more than happy to have Amar on the set and was also more than happy to take his valuable inputs.”

Thamma starred Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal.

The breathtaking Betaal vs Bhediya showdown left the audience in awe, blending cutting-edge VFX with Amar Kaushik’s trademark storytelling flair. With Thamma now cementing the foundation for the next chapter in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, fans can expect even grander crossovers and deeper connections in the films to come.

Zareen Khan’s mother gets hospitalised, actress asks her fans to keep her in their prayers

Actress Zareen Khan has requested her fans and followers to keep her mother in their prayers after revealing that she has been admitted to the hospital. Taking to the Stories section of her Instagram handle, the Veer actress wrote, “Mom admitted to the hospital. Please keep her in your prayers (sic).” Zareen, however, did not share any additional details regarding her mother’s condition.

At the time, she had mentioned that her mother had been unwell for over a month and was being hospitalised intermittently.

I am sorry about not being able to personally reply to everyone’s wish. I’ve been caught up with my mother’s health since last one and a half month as she is not keeping well and been in and out of the hospital. Currently she is hospitalised again and I would request you all to keep her in your prayers for her speedy recovery.” The post is, however, no longer visible on her feed.

Kerala HC rules actor Mohanlal’s ivory licences void and unenforceable

The Kerala High Court has ruled that the State-issued certificates declaring renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal as the owner of two pairs of elephant ivory tusks and 13 ivory artifacts are void and legally unenforceable. The verdict marks a setback for the superstar in the ongoing controversy surrounding his possession of ivory items.

The Division Bench comprising Justice AK Jayasankaran Nambiar and Justice Jobin Sebastian struck down the Kerala government orders issued in February 2015 and February 2016, along with the ownership certificates granted to Mohanlal in January and April 2016. The court held that the State had failed to comply with mandatory statutory requirements under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, before issuing these certificates.

However, the court refrained from delving into the specifics of how the government's power to issue these certificates was exercised, noting that such findings could prejudice Mohanlal in ongoing criminal proceedings related to the case.

The judgment highlighted that the government was at liberty to issue fresh notifications under Section 40(4) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act. This provision allows the State to request any person to declare possession of wild animal articles before granting ownership certificates or legal immunity against prosecution for illegal possession.

The ruling came on two public interest litigation petitions challenging the State notifications under Section 40(4), which allowed Mohanlal to declare his possession of ivory artifacts before the Chief Wildlife Warden. Following these declarations, the State had issued ownership certificates under Section 42 of the Act.

Petitioners argued that the notifications were unlawful as they were never published in the official gazette—a mandatory statutory requirement—and pointed out that no proper inquiry had been conducted into the legality of the actor's possession of the ivory items.

Mohanlal has consistently maintained that the ivory tusks were procured legally and that the certificates were issued directionally by the Central government through the Kerala government. Additionally, the State had issued a no-objection certificate for case withdrawal.

Nonetheless, the magistrate court had earlier rejected the State's plea to withdraw the case in June 2022, a decision contested before the Kerala High Court. The High Court partially allowed the State's plea in February 2023, asking the magistrate to reconsider the withdrawal application.

While the High Court’s recent judgment invalidates the ownership certificates, it grants the State the liberty to issue fresh notifications in accordance with the law. The final verdict in the criminal case against Mohanlal remains pending.

Boman Irani pens heartfelt tribute to late actor Asrani: “His commitment to the camera will remain with me forever”

Veteran actor and filmmaker Govardhan Asrani, fondly known as Asrani, passed away in Mumbai on October 20 after a prolonged illness. He was 84. Remembered for his impeccable comic timing and a career spanning over five decades, Asrani’s passing has left the Indian film fraternity mourning the loss of a true legend.

Among the many who paid their respects was actor Boman Irani, who took to social media to share a heartfelt note about his recent experience of working with the late actor. Reflecting on their time together, Irani revealed that they had collaborated just ten days before Asrani’s passing.

In his post, Irani wrote, “Around ten days ago, I had the privilege of working with Asrani ji for the first time. For the shot, I was meant to be injured and on the floor. He, the doctor, had to rush in and help me. While he needed a little help in the dark walking around the crowded set, the magical word ‘action’ had another meaning for him.”

The actor went on to describe how Asrani, despite his frail health, transformed into a burst of energy once the cameras started rolling. “Like a live wire, he rushed into the room and instinctively landed on the floor on hands and knees, attending with urgency to the sprawled me. On ‘cut,’ he needed a little help off the floor. But his commitment to the whirring camera will remain with me forever.”

Irani concluded his note with a poignant remark about Asrani’s lifelong dedication to his craft: “Till the very end, there was nothing else in the world that he was meant to do. He will be in his onward place doing nothing else but responding to ‘Action’ and doing what made him and others happy.”

Lucky Ali reacts strongly to Javed Akhtar’s viral ‘don’t be like Muslims’ comment

Lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar recently found himself at the centre of a social media storm after a video clip from one of his interactions began circulating online. The footage, which features Akhtar speaking about a scene from the iconic film Sholay, has triggered strong reactions across platforms — and now, singer-songwriter Lucky Ali has added fuel to the debate with a sharp response to Akhtar’s words.

In the viral clip, Akhtar can be seen recalling a moment from Sholay where Hema Malini’s character, Basanti, speaks to Lord Shiva. Reflecting on the changing times, the veteran writer questioned whether such a scene could be written today, given how sensitive religious sentiments have become. While elaborating on the topic during his talk, Akhtar reportedly said, “I was in Poona (Pune) with Raju Hirani (Rajkumar Hirani) in front of a big audience where I told them, ‘Don’t become like Muslims. Make them like yourself. You are becoming like Muslims.’”

The remark immediately sparked backlash online, with many users accusing Akhtar of hurting religious sentiments. Among those who reacted was popular musician Lucky Ali, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his displeasure. His post read, “Don’t become like Javed Akhtar, never original and ugly as f***”.

Ali’s blunt statement quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions. While some social media users praised the singer for speaking his mind, others felt his tone was unnecessarily harsh. The exchange has since evolved into a larger online discussion about tolerance, free speech, and mutual respect between public figures.

Responding to the wave of criticism following the resurfaced video, Javed Akhtar stated that he remains unfazed by the uproar. The veteran writer pointed out that he has often faced backlash for his views, adding that he has received police protection in the past and has been called names for years due to his outspoken opinions.

As reactions continue to pour in, both Lucky Ali and Javed Akhtar have become trending topics across social media platforms. The incident has once again highlighted how public commentary on religion remains a highly charged subject in India’s cultural landscape.

The report also said that the film will be directed by Raj Mehta. “But this time, a revenge story is at the centre of this action offering. The film is in its final stage of prep and Raj plans to take it on floors by November,” a source told the publication. The tabloid added, “It will be Tiger versus Lakshya. Both actors have shown their prowess in the action genre, and the film will benefit with them sharing screen space. Apart from Tiger and Lakshya, the action (film) reportedly stars Janhvi Kapoor.”

The source further noted, “Karan has set his eyes on another story now, something that is more in his zone of drama and emotions. He is confident that Raj will blend masala with big-screen action well.”

Lakshya, who recently starred in the Netflix show The Ba***ds of Bollywood, also praised Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan for his visionary approach. During a conversation on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Lakshya spoke about Aryan’s rare qualities as a director, his fearless storytelling, and his surprising talent in front of the camera. Lakshya said, “I meet very few people who make me think, ‘He has the power to change the world,’ and Aryan is one of them. He has immense willpower. Even before reading the script, I knew he would create something special. He has that zeal, aggression, passion, and conviction that not every director has.” Aryan is reportedly taking a well-earned break following the success of The Ba**ds of Bollywood.

Tiger Shroff was last seen in Baaghi 4, directed by A Harsha and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The fourth instalment of the franchise featured high-octane action, raw intensity, and explosive set pieces, with Tiger in his most savage avatar. The film also included a talented ensemble cast, including Shreyas Talpade, Sanjay Dutt, Harnaaz Sandhu, Sonam Bajwa, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Upendra Limaye.

BREAKING: Aneet Padda’s Shakti Shalini to release on December 24, 2026

Bollywood Hungama was among the first ones to confirm that Aneet Padda, who became a nationwide sensation with Saiyaara (2025), has replaced Kiara Advani in Shakti Shalini. On October 19, we also brought to you the news that Shakti Shalini’s announcement video is attached with Thamma, the grand Diwali release. And now, we bring to you another exciting update from the film. It has come to light that Shakti Shalini will release in cinemas on December 24, 2026.

Just like Thamma, Shakti Shalini also belongs to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. The blockbuster franchise began with Stree (2018) followed by Bhediya (2022). Munjya (2024) came next and it was a sleeper super-hit. Stree 2 (2024) emerged as the highest Bollywood grosser of all time. Thamma is the fifth film of the universe.

When Shakti Shalini starred Kiara Advani, the plan was to release it on December 31, 2025. With the Aneet Padda-starrer having moved to 2026, it means that three films of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe will arrive next year – Shakti Shalini, Chamunda and Bhediya 2. Stree 3 will arrive in 2027. In 2028, the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe will end with a bang with three exciting movies, namely Maha Munjya, Pehla Mahayudh and Doosara Mahayudh.

Until now, prominent names are a part of this world like Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Sharvari, Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Varun Dhawan, Aneet Padda and above all, Akshay Kumar. Many more famous actors are expected to join the series in these upcoming films.

The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe has turned into India’s own Marvel-style saga — and Shakti Shalini could be the next major chapter tying all the worlds together. With each film introducing new characters and mythologies, the stage is now set for a multi-film crossover event that fans have long awaited.

He was 84. He was cremated at Shastri Nagar, Santacruz, in the presence of his close friends and family, informed his manager Babubhai Thiba.

Originally hailing from Jaipur, Rajasthan, Asrani’s demise marks the end of an era in Indian cinema, especially in the realm of comic acting.

Asrani, widely celebrated for his impeccable timing and memorable expressions, was a household name across generations. Over several decades, he carved a niche for himself in Bollywood with performances that effortlessly blended humour with relatability. His ability to bring laughter to audiences made him one of the most cherished comic actors in the industry.

Born in Jaipur, Asrani ventured into Hindi cinema at a time when comic actors were often confined to stereotypical roles. However, he broke these conventions with his versatility, delivering performances that ranged from subtle wit to over-the-top hilarity. Many of his roles, particularly in films from the 1970s and 1980s, continue to be celebrated by cinephiles and casual viewers alike.

BREAKING: 1.51-minute-long Cocktail 2 song promo attached with Thamma

The Diwali biggie Thamma is all set to release tomorrow and the excitement is growing for it as the release date nears. Bollywood Hungama informed readers yesterday, that is, Sunday, October 20, that the teaser of Ikkis and the announcement promo of Shakti Shalini will be shown with the horror comedy. Bollywood Hungama has learned that there’s one more exciting asset attached to Thamma – Cocktail 2.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “A song promo of Cocktail 2, titled ‘Jab Talak’, was passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on October 16. Its run time is 111 seconds, that is, 1 minute and 51 seconds, and it has been passed with a U/A 16+ rating.”

The trade source further said, “The theatres have been informed of the promos to be shown with Thamma and one of them is that of Cocktail 2; the other two being Ikkis and Shakti Shalini. Cocktail 2’s release is many months away, but it’s a big, vibrant film, as evident from the on-set pictures from Sicily, Italy. Also, with audiences expected to arrive in hordes for Thamma in cinemas, it can be a great time to present its first look.”

Cocktail 2, like Thamma, is backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. While the first part starred Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone and launched Diana Penty, the second part features Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. Both parts have been directed by Homi Adajania. Interestingly, Rashmika also stars in Thamma. The other lead actors in the film are Ayushmann Khurrana, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal.

Thamma is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, who directed the other significant film of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe – Munjya (2024). Shakti Shalini also belongs to the same universe and hence, it is apt to have its promo with Thamma.

Bollywood’s Diwali blockbuster: Thamma to debut Ikkis trailer, uniting patriotism and horror on the big screen

In a move that’s bound to excite cinephiles and box office enthusiasts alike, the highly anticipated trailer of Sriram Raghavan’s war epic Ikkis will debut exclusively with Thamma, Maddock Films’ landmark horror-comedy, when it lands in cinemas this Diwali. The strategic pairing marks one of the year’s most compelling double bills, blending two genres Bollywood is now confidently reinventing for a fresh generation of movie-goers.

Ikkis tells the extraordinary true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of India’s Param Vir Chakra for valour in the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Starring the legendary Dharmendra and breakout star Agastya Nanda, with Jaideep Ahlawat in a key role, the Sriram Raghavan-directed film promises both the adrenaline of battle and the depth of character that defines Maddock’s approach to storytelling. Originally aiming for a Gandhi Jayanti release, the filmmakers have officially shifted Ikkis to December 2025 to sidestep big-box-office clashes and optimize its reach to patriotic and family audiences across the country. New posters for Ikkis hint at searing action sequences, nuanced familial emotions, and a fresh heroic journey for Agastya Nanda as the next-generation Khetarpal.

Meanwhile, Thamma is poised to make Diwali 2025 historic in its own right. It brings Ayushmann Khurrana—a veritable hit-machine known for his blend of comedy, heart, and consistently strong box office returns—into the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe for the first time, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna. Thamma is not only Maddock’s priciest horror comedy origin story, with major investments in technology and spectacle, but also the studio’s most ambitious world-building yet, introducing audiences to the betaal, Bollywood’s new twist on the vampire myth. Industry chatter reveals that early pre-booking numbers and a rare two-day split Diwali holiday could ensure Thamma becomes the highest opener for both Ayushmann and the MHCU franchise.

By attaching the Ikkis trailer to every Thamma screening, Maddock has created a seamless corridor for audiences to experience two very different—but equally impactful—stories. From the supernatural thrills of Thamma this festive season to the real-life heroics of Ikkis in December, Maddock Films is signalling its intent to set the standard for bold, original entertainment in 2025 and beyond.

For movie buffs, this double-feature rollout also delivers on anticipation: Thamma lights up theatres from October 21, 2025, just in time for Diwali celebrations, while Ikkis will march into cinemas across India this December, with an exact date to be revealed soon. The convergence of horror-comedy and war drama, backed by powerhouse performances and Maddock’s reputation for delivering both commercial and critical hits, is set to deliver an unparalleled cinematic season for Bollywood fans.

Salman Khan’s security on the sets of Battle Of Galwan is impregnable

Anyone trying to harm Salman Khan during the shooting of his underproduction film Battle Of Galwan will find it hard to penetrate the three-tier security arrangement.

The security bandobast is impregnable and unbreakable.

A source close to the project informed, “Salman travels nationally and internationally with his private security in-charge (Shera), and with a core security of 15 other trained commandos. Then there is the third tier of security provided by the government. When they were shooting in Leh, the government provided the security net given to the biggest VVIP politicians.”

Currently shooting for Battle Of Galwan in Mumbai, Salman is provided with an elaborate security arrangement not provided to any actor in India before.

Said the source, “The entire cast and crew of the Battle Of Galwan have to surrender their cell phones a mile away from the actual location. This includes Salman himself and the director Apoorva Lakhia, as any interceptor can track down Salman through any phone present on location. At the end of the day, every crew member’s phone is scrutinized for suspicious movement. Guests desirous of visiting Salman on the sets have to get their Aadhaar Cards scanned and approved in advance.”

Isn’t it cumbersome to shoot with so many hurdles?

“Not at all. Salman has learnt to live with the security. Fifteen of the security guards are on the actual set with him. But they are trained to make themselves invisible. Not once does Apoorva Lakhia have to yell at them for coming in the way of the camera,” said the source.

EXCLUSIVE: CBFC reduces kissing scene in Thamma by 5 seconds; replaces ‘Azaadi doonga’ with ‘Aiyaashi karata hoon’

Three days are left for the release of the grand Diwali biggie, Thamma, and the excitement is gradually building up. The makers, Maddock Films, completed the censor process on time and in this article, Bollywood Hungama will exclusively focus on the cuts suffered by the horror comedy.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked for audio cuts in three places and one visual modification as well. The word 'Alexander' was replaced with ‘Sikandar’. In another dialogue, the word ‘Ashwathama’ was muted.

In the second half of the film, the words 'Azaadi doonga' were replaced with 'Aiyaashi karata hoon'. The Examining Committee also asked the makers to ‘reduce the slurping sound of drinking blood to minimum’. Finally, a kissing scene in the second half was reduced by 30%, that is, by 5 seconds.

The last modification may dampen the excitement of the moviegoers but on the positive side, this is the shortest intimacy cut asked by the CBFC in recent times. In Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, liplock visuals were reduced by 60%. In Saiyaara, the makers were instructed to delete and replace 10 seconds of ‘sensual, intimacy, body exposure visuals’. Lastly, in Superman, the CBFC axed 33 seconds of ‘sensual visual’ from Superman. It led to massive criticism as the studio had to make abrupt cuts to accommodate CBFC’s directive.

Coming back to Thamma, once the changes were made, the censor certificate was handed over to the makers on October 15. The film was passed with a U/A 16+ rating. The length of the movie, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 149.59 minutes. In other words, Thamma is 2 hours 29 minutes and 59 seconds long.

Thamma releases on Tuesday, October 21 and stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal. It is backed by blockbuster producer Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of Munjya (2024) fame. It is a part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe and hence, belongs to the same world as Stree, Bhediya and Munjya.

Santosh OTT premiere paused, director Sandhya Suri calls it “a real shame”

Filmmaker Sandhya Suri has voiced strong disappointment after the last-minute decision to pause the digital premiere of her film Santosh in India, calling the move “a real shame”. The film set to debut on Lionsgate Play in India on Friday, October 17 was suddenly pulled.

The delay follows persistent conflicts with India’s censorship system. Suri said, “The process in India is that the censor board (CBFC) may ask you to make cuts for a theatrical release. The cuts they asked for were not acceptable to me or my team. We could not make those cuts as they compromised the integrity of the film too profoundly.”

She further insisted that her objections to mandated cuts for theatrical release remained the same for a streaming run and stated, “The objections I had to cuts for the theatrical release remain my objections for a streaming release. The streamers don’t need, by law, to have censorship status to show films. But perhaps this is about an environment in which streamers take on certain objections of their own accord for a harmonious universe.”

Suri also flagged the unintended consequence of pulling the premiere: potential piracy. “It was announced and now we’re un-announcing, so a lot more people are going to watch it in some other form,” she remarked. “My wish is for the film to be distributed legitimately and uncut in India.”

Santosh revolves around a widowed police constable, Santosh (played by Shahana Goswami), who steps into her late husband’s job and ends up investigating the murder of a young girl. Produced by Good Chaos with co-producers Razor Film and Haut et Court, it was backed by BFI and BBC Film. The film also represented the UK’s submission for the Best International Feature category at the 97th Academy Awards.

Param Sundari finds steady audience amid Bollywood’s changing box-office landscape

Param Sundari, a 2025 romantic drama produced by Maddock Films, has found a respectable place at the box office despite its modest scale. The film, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has earned around Rs. 90 crores worldwide against a reported budget of Rs. 45 crores — a decent return in today’s uncertain theatrical climate.

Rather than relying on spectacle, Param Sundari takes a straightforward approach to storytelling. Its appeal lies in familiar emotions and accessible characters, supported by the lead pair’s natural chemistry and a soundtrack that gained steady traction after release. The film’s performance highlights how mid-range projects with clear creative and financial planning can still perform well with the right audience connect.

Trade analysts note that the film adds to Sidharth Malhotra’s record of consistent box office performances. Over the years, titles like Shershaah, Kapoor & Sons, and Ek Villain have helped him maintain a stable following that responds to emotionally grounded roles. Param Sundari continues in that vein, reinforcing his dependable presence in the romantic genre.

For Maddock Films, the project aligns with the company’s strategy of balancing costs with commercial viability. The studio, known for films like Luka Chuppi and Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, has once again demonstrated a pragmatic production model suited to the current market.

Param Sundari represents a realistic success story — one built on manageable expectations, effective budgeting, and audience relatability rather than hype or heavy marketing. Plus, it still has its OTT prospects ahead. At a time when many big-budget films struggle to find stable footing, such outcomes serve as a reminder that consistency can still count as success.
