Mamta Kulkarni gets removed from Kinnar Akhada; Head Rishi Ajay Das says, “This is not Bigg Boss”

Mamta Kulkarni, who recently returned to Mumbai and sparked rumours about making a comeback in films, insisted that she doesn’t plan on returning to films but instead would like to follow a spiritual path. This further led to the actress becoming a member of the Kinnar Akhada during the Maha Kumbh and performing the rituals, after which she received the title of Mahamandaleshwar. However, now only a week later, Rishi Ajay Das, who is the founder of the Akhada has expelled the actress and also popular social activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi from their respective positions.

On Friday, Das released an official press statement regarding the removal of the two members, which was shared by many reports wherein he said, “As the founder of Kinnar Akhada, I am hereby relieving Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi from his position as Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada, effective immediately. His appointment was made with the goal of promoting religious activities and uplifting the transgender community, but he has deviated from these responsibilities.”

Furthermore, he also expressed his anger over the matter and was quoted telling PTI, “This is not Bigg Boss's show that you do it during Maha Kumbh and then for three years you don't do any work... Both Mamta Kulkarni and Acharya Mahamandleshwar, Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, will be removed from their post.” He went on to speak about the accusations that were thrown against the actress regarding her involvement in the drug cartel and stated, “A person like Mamta Kulkarni who has allegations of indulging in anti-national activities against her was suddenly brought here and without 'sanyas', she was directly anointed as Mahamandleshwar. This is not right. So, I am taking action against them.”

On the other hand, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi has defended his actions and asserted taking action against Das. He also came in defense of the actress insisting that all charges against her were later dropped by the court. In a statement given to ANI, Tripathi shared, “We had expelled Ajay Das in 2017. He then chose a household life and misappropriated Kinnar Akhara's funds during the 2016 Ujjain Kumbh. In the 2019 Prayagraj Kumbh, our akhara officially allied with Juna Akhara and we accepted Mahant Hari Giri as our guru.”

Aamir Khan’s Upcoming Clash with Thandel Meanwhile, Thandel, starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, is set for release on February 7, 2025. The Telugu film will also be dubbed in Hindi. Interestingly, it will clash at the box office with Loveyapa, starring Aamir Khan’s son. When asked about the competition, Aamir diplomatically stated, "Everyone's film should work at the box office." It remains to be seen whether Thandel will impact Loveyapa’s performance.

The Amazon MX Player’s StreamNext 2025 was held on January 30 at a five-star hotel in Mumbai and was a star-studded affair. It featured film personalities like Bobby Deol, Suniel Shetty, Malaika Arora, Remo Dsouza, Saba Azad etc. coming to the stage to promote their shows. Meanwhile, Girish Prabhu, Head, Amazon Ads, India, Karan Bedi, Head of Amazon MX Player, Amogh Dusad, Head of Content, Amazon MX Player and renowned tech analyst Benedict Evans spoke about the collaboration of Amazon and MX Player, evolving digital landscape and a lot more. One of the most fascinating announcements made at the event was that several films, which were available on OTT platforms until now, can now be seen for free.

Amazon Prime Video is an SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand) platform, which means that one has to buy a subscription to access its library of exciting films. MX Player, on the other hand, is an AVOD (Advertising-Based Video on Demand) platform. It signifies that one can watch content on the streaming giant for free but with ads. With Amazon and MX Player now coming together, certain films of Amazon Prime Video will now be available on MX Player under the AVOD arrangement and users can enjoy it without paying a single penny.

One of the biggest films in this regard is the Hindi version of Pushpa: The Rise - Part 01. Some other licensed films available now on MX Player are Drishyam 2, Ram Setu, Heropanti 2, JugJugg Jeeyo, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Bellbottom, Satyameva Jayate, Satyameva Jayate 2, Thank God etc. Amazon original films like Jai Bhim (Tamil and Hindi versions), Gehraiyaan, Coolie No 1, Udaan, Sardar Udham, Dybbuk, Durgamati etc. can also be accessed on MX Player.

The library will be expanded in the future. In the announcement video, glimpses of Ponniyin Selvan and Sita Ramam were seen but these biggies are yet to make it on the platform.

The first edition of Amazon MX Player’s StreamNext event featured global marketing leaders like Sir Martin Sorrell, Benedict Evans, and prominent entertainment industry figures. The event highlighted the evolving landscape of content consumption in India and how Amazon MX Player is positioning itself as a key partner for advertisers. Bobby Deol (Aashram 3), Suniel Shetty & Jackie Shroff (Hunter 2), Remo D’Souza & Malaika Arora (Hip Hop India 2), Ashneer Grover (Rise and Fall), and others were present. Amazon MX Player unveiled its slate of over 100 new shows for 2025.

Vicky Kaushal and Kabir Khan to join hands for a film?

With actors constantly experimenting with genres and filmmakers, a rare and never-seen-before combination is expected to be in the works, if recent reports are to be believed. It is being said that Kabir Khan, who shares a great bond with Katrina Kaif, is keen on working with the latter’s husband Vicky Kaushal. While the two of them have often cheered and appreciated each other’s work, they have never been able to come together for a project, until now. These reports have claimed that the filmmaker and actor are already in talks for an untitled film, details of which are strictly maintained under wraps.

In a Filmfare report, it has been revealed that Vicky Kaushal and Kabir Khan are contemplating on working together for the film. Although the details are yet to be finalized with no confirmation from either side, a source was quoted sharing the details. "Kabir Khan and Katrina Kaif have had a long-standing association and friendship. Ever since Katrina and Vicky Kaushal came together, Kabir has always been a friend and mentor to Vicky. But now, after all these years, they have finally found a project, where the two can come together. The deal hasn't been sealed yet. But it is as good as done,” stated the source.

Adding to the speculation further, Kabir Khan posted about a two-film partnership with Applause Entertainment on his social media handle last week. While the details of the cast was not yet revealed, audiences have been wondering if Vicky will be a part of one of these films.

On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal is currently a busy actor as he is neck deep in promotions, ahead of the release of his highly anticipated historical drama Chhaava. Coming from the house of Maddock Films, it is a magnum opus starring an ensemble cast and directed by Laxman Utekar. However, it is not the only film on the schedule of the Masaan actor! Telangana High Court restricts children in cinemas before 11 A.M. and after 11 P.M.

In a significant move, the Telangana High Court has directed that children below the age of 16 be prohibited from attending cinemas before 11 a.m. and after 11 p.m. The ruling, issued on January 27 by Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, aims to safeguard young audiences from late-night and early-morning screenings in theatres.

The court’s decision comes as part of the ongoing hearings of four petitions, including those related to the Telugu films Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 and Game Changer. The petitions highlighted issues surrounding odd-hour shows, benefit shows, and increasing ticket prices.

The court clarified that this directive would apply to all films going forward. Justice Reddy had previously issued an order to ban benefit and odd-hour shows, which had been held between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. This followed a tragic incident at Sandhya Cinema in December during the Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 premiere, where a stampede occurred.

The new ruling underscores the court's focus on the welfare of minors, particularly with respect to late-night screenings, and aims to prevent children from being exposed to films during such hours. Saif Ali Khan attack case: Mumbai police investigate a woman from West Bengal after they find her SIM card with the accused

The Saif Ali Khan stab case saw a new development on Monday evening when the police found the owner of the SIM, which was being used by the accused – Shariful Islam. Now, in recent development, the police has traced the identity of the SIM card which is expected to be owned by a woman residing in West Bengal, wherein the latter has insisted that her mobile phone has been missing for days.

The investigation proceedings kicked off when the Mumbai police nabbed a certain man named Vijay Das, three days after the incident, who was later identified as Shariful Islam living under an alias. As the probe continued, the police revealed that they realized he was a Bangladeshi national who crossed the border to India in search of better opportunities and have been living under different identities. Recently, they asserted that the accused spent a good amount of time in West Bengal and decided to get a new number for him to stay in touch with his family in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, he soon shifted to Mumbai for jobs and continued working odd jobs in order to avoid presenting documents. In order to gather evidence, the police investigated the Nadia and Murshidabad districts around West Bengal where they arrested Shariful.

Furthermore, the reports also state that the police also investigated his identity wherein they made him contact his brother who shared documents like a school leaving certificate as proofs of his nationality.

For the unversed, Saif Ali Khan was attacked during the early hours of January 16 in an alleged attempted robbery incident at his residence in Mumbai. The actor suffered multiple stab wounds after which he was immediately rushed to the nearby Lilavati Hospital where he underwent a few emergency surgeries. Saif Ali Khan attack case: Police reveal ‘awaiting CID report’ amid reports about fingerprint mismatch of the accused

With the investigation taking a new turn every day in the Saif Ali Khan case, latest reports suggested an alleged mismatch between the fingerprint samples collected by the police as evidence from Khan’s Mumbai residence and the accused. For the unversed, three days after the incident on January 16, the police detained a man named Sharif Muhammad – a Bangladeshi national in relation to the case. While the evidence is currently being investigated, shutting down reports of a mismatch, the Mumbai and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has revealed that they are yet to receive reports of fingerprints match.

CID confirms that reports are yet to be submitted

In a report published by Hindustan Times, Deputy Commissioner Dikshit Gedam opened up about them awaiting the report. “The fingerprint department is yet to submit their report to the Bandra police. We’ll wait for the report before commenting further,” he was quoted saying. Meanwhile, an unnamed official from the CID team too has confirmed the details asserting that they are yet to send across the report. Meanwhile, according to these reports, one of the IPS officers has addressed the ongoing buzz about fingerprints mismatch stating that it is a ‘premature’ assumption, insisting that the investigation of the evidence is currently underway.

Police registers statement from Saif Ali Khan and the house help

As per the recent reports, Saif Ali Khan and house staff, Jeh’s nanny Elyimma Philips have been registered as key witnesses in the case. Philip in her statement revealed that on the early morning hours of January 16, she spotted an intruder while on her way to her room near one of the bathrooms of the apartment. She immediately reacted by screaming for help, but the intruder tried to subdue her voice by attacking her with a knife. Meanwhile, Khan was awakened by her cry for help and immediately jumped into action in a bid to protect his house staff. However, the scuffle that followed resulted in the actor sustaining multiple severe and mild injuries across many parts of his body, following which he was immediately taken into surgery at the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, known for his lavish palatial residence Mannat located in the heart of Bandra, is expected to get a massive amount from the government for the land his residence is built on. We hear that the actor is set to receive a refund of Rs 9 crore from the Maharashtra government following a calculation error related to a land payment. The actor, who owns a property in the Mumbai Suburban District, may soon have his petition for the refund approved after it was revealed that excess payment was made in 2019, reveal recent reports.

The property, spanning 2,446 square metres, was leased by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan, through a registered agreement back in 2001. As per state policy, the couple paid 25 percent of the ready reckoner price for the land in March 2019, which was calculated to be approximately Rs 27.50 crore at the time.

However, following a review of the payment, the authorities have identified a calculation error and are now in the process of refunding Rs 9 crore to the couple. The Maharashtra government is expected to approve the refund soon. This development comes as a relief to the Khan family, who had made the payment in line with the prescribed regulations but found the sum to be higher than necessary.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan has always asserted about how Mannat has remained to be one of his most cherished properties. Now, in the latest findings, these reports have raised further concern as it is being said that Mumbai police suspects involvement of more than one suspect.

Police have approached the Mumbai court with their suspicions

According to current reports, the police are in the midst of investigating their suspect Vijay Das aka Shariful Mohammad Amin Fakir, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, they recently nabbed from Thane City. While they have proved his presence in the apartment of Saif Ali Khan by matching his fingerprints with the ones they received from the actor’s residence, they have shared details to the court stating that the suspect has been non-co-operative during their investigation. Furthermore, the police have also alerted the court regarding their suspicion about the involvement of multiple individuals behind the attack. Owing to the same, the court has reportedly granted them time till January 29, extending the custody of Shariful.

About the Saif Ali Khan case

On January 16, the popular Bollywood actor was attacked by an intruder at his residence in Bandra, between 2 to 2:30 AM with him sustaining multiple stab injuries. Following the attack, he was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he underwent emergency surgeries. Initial investigations stated that the actor was injured while defending his family during a robbery attack with more facts about the incident being uncovered over time. Meanwhile, Khan was discharged from the hospital on January 21 after which, he assured his fans about his recovery.

She is allowed to perform the character of any devotional figure if she wants, as we do not prohibit anyone from performing their art.”

Actress reveals her disinterest in rejoining movies

Meanwhile, Mamta Kulkarni has opened to India Today about her future plans, wherein she asserted that she never wanted to return to her country to do movies. “I can't even imagine doing films again. It is absolutely impossible for me now,” she confirmed to India Today. 25th IIFA Awards press conference: Shah Rukh Khan shares major update about King; gives fun hosting lessons to Kartik Aaryan

Shah Rukh Khan and Kartik Aaryan attended the press conference of the 25th edition of IIFA Awards which will be held in March 2025 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. They were joined by Nora Fatehi, Smt. Diya Kumari, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and IIFA co-founders Andre Timmins, Viraf Sarkari, and Sabbas Joseph. As expected, Shah Rukh Khan stole the show with his one-liners and antics.

Shah Rukh Khan began by saying, “I didn’t realize it until 10-15 days back that 25 saal se Andre, Viraf aur Sabbas ke liye kaam kar raha hoon (smiles).”

On a serious note, he continued, “I’ve known them and I remember their hard work. They would even arrange chairs for different award functions for all of us. They would be kind to us and show us warmth. From the beginning of the show till the end, they always looked after us. Hence, they were bound to do some wonderful things. I’ve had too much fun attending IIFA. We have some wonderful memories; some of them are wild, which we can’t talk about! Inshallah, I pray for them that they continue to take Indian cinema global and on a platform which makes us relevant.”

SRK added, “It’s always fantastic performing for them. The production qualities (are superior). Initially, we used to be like ‘New York ja rahe hai, kaun dhyan rakhega, kaisa hoga’. But they used to be always there, early in the morning to pick us up at the airport and even drop us after the show.”

Shah Rukh Khan further stated, “I’ve always told them that ‘aap award show hamare desh mein karo’. Prince Diya Kumari ji insisted on the same thing. There’s no better place than Rajasthan and Jaipur to be hosting this award. Aap sab ko amantran hai. Please aaiyega. Enjoy with us and celebrate the Indian film industry.”

Shah Rukh then shared a major update about his much-awaited next film King, “I am in the middle of starting a film shoot but when they said that IIFA is completing 25 years, I had to be there. Hence, I rushed here and am hoping to be in Jaipur on March 9.”

Saif Ali Khan Attack Case: Actor gives statement to the cops; confirms that the intruder was found in Jeh’s room

While there have been many narrations of what transpired during the ‘night’ of January 16, actor Saif Ali Khan, who is expected to have made almost full recovery, gave his first statement to the cops after the attack. Several key points made by the actor have made its way to the news reports which has left the audience wondering if this was a kidnap attack, rather than an alleged robbery.

Saif Ali Khan reveals he was in the bedroom with Kareena Kapoor Khan when he heard the scream

Readers would be aware that Saif Ali Khan was asked to give his first statement to the Mumbai police, so that the latter could get clearer picture of the nature of the crime. In his statement, the actor has reportedly revealed that he was in his bedroom with wife Kareena Kapoor Khan when he heard the scream. He immediately recognized it to be his younger son Jeh’s nanny Eliyama Philip and rushed to the room, where he saw the intruder. As a father, he immediately jumped into action which resulted in a spat leading the ‘intruder’ to stab Saif Ali Khan six times.

However, the actor insisted in his statement that he was strong enough to push away the intruder despite the wounds, also describing the quick action taken by his house staff who not only moved Jeh away from his room but also locked the intruder in the same room.

What happened to Eliyama Philip

For the unversed, it was mentioned that Eliyama, who also sleeps in Jeh’s room, was injured during the incident since she was the first one to stop the intruder after he entered Jeh’s room. She went on to add that the intruder demanded Rs. 1 crore from her in return for Jeh’s safety which left her in panic and she immediately screamed to alert the rest of the house members.

The aftermath of the attack

Saif Ali Khan was immediately taken in an autorickshaw to the nearby Lilavati Hospital, after he was stabbed, where the actor received immediate treatment. He was later taken into surgery the same day with the doctors confirming that he suffered severe injuries on his back as well as neck and hands, with the latter being covered by plastic surgery.

Police arrests Bangladeshi national

Meanwhile, the Mumbai police, after a long investigation, arrested the ‘intruder’ who has been identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national. The latter was hiding in Thane, near Mumbai, and according to recent reports, his fingerprints too have been found in multiple parts of the house, including the door handle of Jeh’s room as well as the AC duct on the eleventh floor of the Bandra society where Khan and his family resides.

On the occasion of its 7th anniversary, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat is set to re-release in theatres offering fans another chance to experience the grandeur of this cinematic masterpiece on the big screen yet again next month as the film re-releases on February 6. Featuring a stellar cast of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, Padmaavat remains one of the most visually stunning and commercially successful films in Indian cinema.

While earlier reports suggested that the film is set to release on January 24, a day ahead of its original release date (January 25, 2018), latest news is that the film will hit the theatres on February 6. Yash Raj Films to distribute Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava internationally

Yash Raj Films (YRF) has secured international distribution rights for the highly anticipated historical drama Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, will release worldwide on February 14, 2025, after being postponed from its initial December 2024 release. Mujhe yeh nahin pata tha ki yeh ghode pe bitha denge aur talwar aur bhale chalwayenge mujhe! Everything was new. I didn’t know how to ride a horse and had to learn that. I also learned how to fight with swords and spears. I trained for 6 months. I had to gain weight, from 80 kgs to 105 kgs. In short, I gained 25 kgs for this role. Before we went on floors, we extensively trained in action. Joji and Pervez sir supported me a lot.”

Saif Ali Khan’s attacker escaped via bathroom duct after attempted burglary; key details emerge

Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Bandra residence last week late at night by Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national who broke into the house to allegedly commit robbery. Shehzad stabbed the actor six times before being locked in a bathroom by Khan and his household staff. However, the intruder escaped through the air-conditioning duct before fleeing the premises. Mumbai Police arrested the suspect in Thane after an extensive manhunt involving CCTV footage and local intelligence.

The Attack and Intruder's Escape The incident unfolded around 2 a.m. when Eliyama Philip, nanny to Saif Ali Khan’s sons, spotted the intruder. Assuming Kareena Kapoor Khan was attending to their younger son, she initially ignored the sounds but later realized something was amiss. Upon encountering the armed intruder, Philip sustained injuries while trying to protect herself and the children. The attacker demanded Rs. 1 crore and threatened the household.

Responding to the commotion, Saif Ali Khan confronted the attacker but was stabbed multiple times during the altercation. The actor and his staff managed to trap Shehzad in a bathroom, but the intruder escaped via the air-conditioning duct and fled. Police later recovered evidence, including a face cover, from the actor’s residence, which is now undergoing forensic examination. Saif Ali Khan's Recovery Saif Ali Khan was hospitalized at Lilavati Hospital for five days following the attack. Doctors revealed that one stab wound on his back narrowly missed his spinal cord by 2 mm, leading to spinal fluid leakage that required surgery. He also underwent plastic surgery for facial and arm injuries. The actor returned home yesterday.

“Even I am waiting to start Hera Pheri 3,” Akshay revealed, adding, “I don’t know, but if everything goes well, it will start this year.” While the timeline remains tentative, the actor’s enthusiasm has reignited anticipation for the film.

Reflecting on the journey of the Hera Pheri franchise, Akshay admitted he didn’t foresee its massive success. “When we started Hera Pheri, we didn’t know it would go ahead to become such a cult. Even when I saw the film, I didn’t understand. Yes, it was funny, but none of us expected the characters of Babu Bhaiya, Raju, and Shyam to become a cult.”

Akshay also took a moment to praise his co-star Paresh Rawal, sharing a humorous anecdote. “We were just shooting for Bhooth Bangla in Jaipur, and I had lots of fun with him. During Hera Pheri, we had a lot of fun, but there are some things which can’t be said on camera,” he chuckled.

The Hera Pheri series began with the 2000 film directed by Priyadarshan, which introduced audiences to the hilarious antics of the trio—Babu Bhaiya (Paresh Rawal), Raju (Akshay Kumar), and Shyam (Suniel Shetty). The film’s unique humor and memorable dialogues quickly made it a fan favorite. Its 2006 sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, directed by Neeraj Vora, further cemented its legacy as one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedy franchises.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of Sky Force, set to hit theatres on January 24. The film also features Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, and Nimrat Kaur in key roles.

EXCLUSIVE: Deepika Padukone fans, rejoice; after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, now Padmaavat expected to re-release on January 24

2025 has begun on a happy note for the fans of Deepika Padukone. On January 3, her 2013 film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was re-released and it put up huge numbers. The demand was so huge that theatres had to add many more shows and more theatres also started playing the romcom. 2 days later, on January 5, the fans celebrated the birthday of the star. And now, they are all set to get another surprise. Bollywood Hungama has learned that Padmaavat will be back on the big screen.

A source told us, “Padmaavat is re-releasing, that too in two days from now, on January 24. Its shows will be available only in PVR Inox Cinemas. An announcement is expected to happen in a few hours and then the bookings will be thrown open.”

The source wasn’t aware of how big the release would be. A trade expert commented, “Padmaavat completes 7 years on January 25. Hence, it makes sense to re-release the film on its anniversary. Also, the trend of re-releases is very strong right now.”

Around its release, Padmaavat faced strong opposition from certain groups. As a result, it wasn’t released in Rajasthan. It now remains to be seen if the period drama manages to be screened in one of the 20+ screens of PVR Inox in the desert state.

Besides Deepika Padukone, Padmaavat also starred Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. It was the story of Queen Padmavati, the wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh of Chittor and what happened when Allaudin Khilji, the tyrant Sultan, laid siege on the impregnable fortress of Chittorgarh. Trouble arose when Khilji became obsessed and wanted to capture Chittor and its Queen at any cost.

Padmaavat was directed by the master director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and was one of the biggest hits of 2018. It ended up collecting Rs. 302 crores in India despite not getting a release in Rajasthan.

Rajnath Singh attends special screening of Sky Force, praises film’s tribute to Indian Air Forces

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently attended a screening of Sky Force, featuring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, and shared his appreciation for the cast and crew on X (formerly Twitter). Akshay Kumar responded with gratitude, calling it a great honour for him and the team that the CDS and the three service chiefs made time to watch the film. Photos from the event, highlighting the special screening, were also shared online.

The film narrates the story of Indian Air Force’s bravery, courage and sacrifice during the 1965 War. Akshay Kumar responded to Rajnath Singh’s tweet, writing, “Thank you, Sir. Sky Force actors Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, portraying Air Force officers in the film, hosted a special screening for NCC cadets in Delhi yesterday. The event also featured the film’s producers, Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. A special mention was made to Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh and the Indian Air Force’s Disha Cell for their support.

The NCC, the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces, brought vibrant energy to the screening, with cadets visibly engrossed and reacting with awe to the film's impactful and emotional moments.

Saif Ali Khan to get discharged on January 21: Report

Amid several new angles surfacing about the incident that occured on January 16, the Khan family will soon be heaving a sigh of relief as the actor is all set to return home. According to current reports, the hospital authorities will be discharging Saif Ali Khan after his surgery and treatment as soon as possible. While news about his discharge have been doing the rounds for quite some time now, it was confirmed by the doctors at Lilavati on Tuesday.

Saif Ali Khan to receive discharge on January 21 Dr. Nitin Dange has confirmed the details wherein it is being said that the papers for the discharge were filed on Monday evening. After reviewing the same, the hospital officials will be scheduling the discharge on Tuesday, somewhere between 10 am to 12 pm.

Saif Ali Khan underwent two surgeries For the unversed, Khan was stabbed six times on different parts of his body during an attack at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai. The actor was taken to Lilavati hospital in an autorickshaw where he had to undergo couple of surgeries including plastic surgery to recover from the wounds. The hospital doctors, however asserted that the actor received the right treatment at the right time which played a key role in his recovery.

More details on the attack While initial reports suggested that this was robbery that went wrong, it seems that the police continue investigate every angle. As per the latest reports, Khan’s wife Kareena Kapoor Khan was summoned to give her statement, wherein, she revealed that Saif Ali Khan sustained these injuries while trying to protect the attacker from going towards her second son Jeh. In the statement, she reportedly, also insisted that ther were some pieces of jewellery lying around the house, which the intruder didn't seem interested in.

Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan has received immense support from the industry folk who have expressed concern and raised questions about the security given to celebrities.

BREAKING: Kartik Aaryan to host the 25th IIFA Awards in Jaipur

Kartik Aaryan is on a roll. He began 2024 with the critically acclaimed Chandu Champion, in which he was seen in the role of Paralympic champion and national hero Murlikant Petkar. He followed this film with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The horror comedy clashed with the much bigger flick Singham Again and yet, emerged victorious. Kartik’s transformation in the climax stunned one and all. And now, the actor is all set to host the much-awaited IIFA Awards which will be held in the Pink City of Jaipur, Rajasthan.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “This year’s IIFA is special as it’s the 25th edition. The organizers have grand plans and as part of it, they decided to get Kartik on board. They feel that his popularity with the masses and also his comic timing will make him an apt host for the silver jubilee celebrations of IIFA.”

The source added, “Kartik was also too happy with the offer and gladly took it. Moreover, Jaipur holds a special place in his heart. He shot Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) in the Rajasthan capital and also launched the trailer of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in Jaipur, that too in the iconic Raj Mandir Cinema.”

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Kartik Aaryan will be seen as the host of IIFA. He had earlier hosted the 19th IIFA Awards which were held in June 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. The source further said, “As is the IIFA tradition, a press conference will be held in Mumbai to announce Kartik’s association with the 25th edition after which the awards will take place in Jaipur from March 7 to 9.”

On the film front, Kartik Aaryan will not have a release in 2025. In 2026, he’ll be seen in Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri. It marks his first association with producer Karan Johar. It is directed by Sameer Vidwans of Satyaprem Ki Katha (2023) fame.

Saif Ali Khan Attack: Suspect presented in court, undergoes custodial interrogation for further investigation

Saif Ali Khan sustained multiple injuries during the robbery incident on January 16 and is currently receiving treatment at Lilavati Hospital. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police arrested the main suspect in the stabbing case on Sunday and presented them in court. A video of the accused attacker has since gone viral.

In a video shared by Instant Bollywood, the accused is seen surrounded by police as he exits the court with his face covered, walking towards a van. On Sunday, the Bandra Court remanded the accused to five days of police custody, supporting the Mumbai Police's request for further investigation. The court stated, “We are satisfied by the demand of Mumbai Police. The accused has entered inside the residence of a celebrity and attacked him. The police need to recover the clothes worn by him on that day. Hence, custodial interrogation is required. The police also needs to recover the knife that was used by the accused. The learned defence council has said that no notice was given to the accused U/S43A of the BNS.”

The court further stated, “After having considered the submission of the defence and the prosecution, I find that they are well founded allegations. The investigation is at early stage. The accused has been arrested earlier today. The police therefore are justified in asking sufficient period for an investigation.”

In requesting the accused’s 14-day custody, the police stated, “The attacker is ruthless as he stabbed Saif Ali Khan several times. We need him in custody to collect more evidence.”

The investigating officer informed the court that the accused attacked Saif Ali Khan on January 16 inside his Mumbai residence. The officer further stated, “We have recovered a part of knife from the wound, the second was recovered from the crime spot and the third is missing. We need to recover that. We have to find the clothes that he was wearing on that day. Also, the accused is a Bangaldeshi national. We have to investigate where he came from. He had recently came to Mumbai.”

For those unaware, an attempted robbery occurred at Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra home earlier this week. Following a struggle with the robber, the actor sustained severe injuries. Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times, including in his neck and shoulder, at his Bandra West apartment around 2:30 am on Thursday. He was promptly taken to Lilavati Hospital, where a 2.5-inch piece of the blade was removed from his spine during a five-hour-long surgery.

In a post shared on X aka Twitter, the doctor has addressed the challenges faced by common man for extensive surgeries wherein they have to undergo extensive procedures to receive a sanction of amounts above Rs. 5 lakhs. He raised questions as he questioned these companies over their change of attitude towards famous personas and celebrities. He said, “For small hospitals and common man, Niva Bupa will not sanction more than Rs 5 lakh for such treatment. All 5 star hospitals are charging exorbitant fees and mediclaim companies are paying also. result – premiums are rising and middle class is suffering”.

The insurance company Niva Bupa confirms details of Khan’s insurance

After the claim went viral on social media, the insurance company Niva Bupa confirmed the details to Mint wherein they issued a statement that read, “The recent unfortunate incident with actor Saif Ali Khan is deeply concerning. We wish him a speedy and safe recovery. Mr. Khan is one of our policy holders. A cashless pre-authorisation request was sent to us upon his hospitalisation, and we have given an approval of an initial amount to start the treatment. Once we receive the final bills post the complete treatment, it will be settled as per policy terms and conditions. We stand with Mr. Khan and his family in this distressing time.”

About the attack on Saif Ali Khan and his medical treatment

On January 16, Khan was attacked at his Mumbai residence in the wee hours of dawn in an ensuing scuffle with an alleged robber. The actor sustained multiple injuries and was immediately rushed to the Lilavati Hospital, where he was taken into surgery within a couple of hours after being admitted. From thoracic spine surgery to covering wounds with cosmetic surgery, the actor underwent quite a bit of treatment and is currently on the recovery process.

On the grand finale that was held on January 19, the reality show saw its top five contestants – Vivian DSena, Rajat Dalal, Avinash Mishra, and Chum Darang fighting it out for the coveted trophy.

What is the sequence of winners?

Out of the first six, the first one to bid adieu to the show was Eisha Singh, followed by Chum Darang in the fifth spot. Hailing from north-east India, Darang received immense love and support throughout the show but the popular star couldn’t make it to top 3. The second elimination came as a surprise to many as Avinash Mishra – another name that created many scandals, was evicted. Followed by the same, Bigg Boss 18 received its top three contestants – Vivian DSena, Rajat Dalal, and Karan Veer Mehra. For the unversed, this is the second consecutive win of Karan with Colors channel as the actor also bagged the trophy for Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. Expressing his happiness over the two wins, Karan told ANI, “I feel very happy. I am the chosen one”. “I did the rare task of winning back-to-back reality shows. I believed in myself. I worked hard and aimed for the top and it happened”, he added.
