Vicky Kaushal started his acting journey with a minor role in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur before his lead debut in Masaan

Known for his spellbinding performances in a variety of movies, Vicky Kaushal has entrenched himself as one of most versatile actors in Bollywood. On his birthday, fans and moviegoers have much to celebrate.

Vicky is known to many made his debut in Masaan for which he was highly appreciated in 2015. But that wasn’t the start to the actor’s acting journey. In 2012 Vicky had a minor role in Anurag Kashyap’s prominent film Gangs of Wasseypur.

In the iconic movie Vicky played a background character during the heated exchange between Nagma Khatoon and Sardar Khan played by Richa Chadha and Manoj Bajpayee respectively at a brothel. In a conversation with Mid Day, Kaushal spoke about how he got his role sharing that the original junior artists selected for the role backed out once they realised the setting was a brothel. Vicky who was assisting on the film then stepped in to fill the gap. “I’m that silhouette you see overacting behind the window grille when Nagma Khatoon is cursing Sardar Khan” he hilariously recalled.

His collaboration with Kashyap was not just till that but beyond as he continued to assist and act in Raman Raghav 2.0 in 2016. Vicky’s incredible journey started as an assistant director to acting as background and eventually being lead for successful films like URI: The Surgical Strike, Raazi and Sam Bahadur is the attestation to his talent.

He will soon be seen on-screen in Anand Tiwari’s Bad News with Tripti Dimri, Ammy Virk and Neha Dupia.
