Aamir Khan in talks with Paatal Lok director Avinash Arun for Ujjwal Nikam biopic: Report

Earlier this week, Bollywood Hungama reported that superstar Aamir Khan has locked his next project! The actor will return to the big screen during Christmas 2024. The untitled project is set for December 20, 2024 release and he is reportedly co-producing the project with Sony Pictures. However, after Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir has been working on several productions under his banner and one of them is Ujjwal Nikam biopic.

The actor is joining hands with Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films for the project. Now, it is being reported that the actor is in talks to get National Award-Winning Marathi film, Killa and Paatal Lok director Avinash Arun for the project as the director. As per a report in Pinkvilla, a source said, “Avinash is working closely with Aamir and Dinesh Vijan to develop the screenplay of the Ujjwal Nikam Biopic. All the stakeholders are happy with the right energies associated with the project and are keen to take the film on floors next year.”

The casting is underway, though Aamir Khan also is keenly interested in playing the role himself. The source added, “It’s still not confirmed if Aamir will act in the film himself or if he will get another person on board. There are all sorts of conversations happening, and the team is also figuring out the permutation combinations with regard to the casting. He might just surprise everyone by acting in the film, or may just be associated as a producer.”

For unversed, Ujjwal Nikam is an Indian special public prosecutor who has been a part of several cases including murder and terrorism. He was a part of the team who helped prosecute the suspects of Gulshan Kumar murder case, 1993 bombings, Pramod Mahajan murder case, and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Nikam was also the special public prosecutor in the 2013 Mumbai gang rape case, 2016 Kopardi rape and murder case. For the Mumbai 26/11 attacks trial, the prosecutor argued on behalf of the state. The prosecutor has Z+ security for himself which is the second highest security detail in India.

As of now, Aamir Khan will produce a Hindi remake of the Spanish movie Campeones. He is reportedly also producing Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey Remake, Pritam Pyaare, Lapata Ladies and Love Today. While Campeons titled Champions, will be headlined by Farhan Akhtar, it is unclear whether Aamir is starring in any of the above projects. Imlie New Promo: Adrija Roy to play a bar singer Imlie who catches the attention of NRI Agastya Upadhyay aka Sai Ketan Rao

After Sumbul Touqeer, the Star Plus show Imlie was riding on the shoulders of Megha Chakraborty. And now, the show is all set to pass to another generation with Adrija Roy coming on board for the lead role as Kairi along with Sai Ketan Rao as the leading man Agastya. Ardent followers of the show will recall that the precap of the popular serial showcases how Imlie and Atharva are rejoicing the arrival of their second child, their ‘ati ati small’ and gushing about their dream of a happy family but it is short lived as their lives seems to be in danger because of an earthquake.

While the past few episodes were already hinting at a leap, audiences were eager to witness the arrival of the new Imlie. Their wait has now ended, since the channel introduced Adrija Roy of Durga Aur Charu fame who will be essaying the role of the next Imlie. In a recent post shared by Adrija, she expressed her gratitude after bagging the lead role in the show and penned a heartfelt note saying, “It’s time for every girl to take their stand, fight for their dreams and show the so called society that we can. I am heartily welcoming you all to watch my upcoming show… All your love and support is much needed for #IMLIE ???? & and I know my family will never disappoint me.” She added, “Thank you for giving me this opportunity @gulenaghmakhan Ma’am… Aur haan, IMLIE aa rahi hai aapko gaana sunane iss 11 September se. On the other hand, Sai Ketan Rao posted a message, saying, “A new journey begins as Agasthya Upadhyay with Imlie season 3. A story where two opposite worlds collide, meet Agasthya a man with clear goals, bold and ambitious. Need all your blessings & support.”

Going by the promo, it seems that while Kairi, now the new Imlie, has lost everything including her family, she is forced to take up a job of singing at a desi bar where she bumps into the business tycoon Agastya Upadhyay aka Sai Ketan Rao. Agastya’s car seems to have broken down in the middle of the road and he arrives at the bar to pass his time until it is repaired. It is where he comes across the singer and tries to offer her a whopping amount to work for him. But Imlie’s daughter staunchly refuses his offer and tells him curtly that even though she is poor, she will not sell her values or ethics for money. This leaves him surprised, and when he asks her name, she responds saying, ‘She is Imlie’.

The official synopsis reads, "Fresh wounds are reopened when Jasmeet Bhamra, a cop and single mother who recently lost her child in a shooting spree, transfers to High Wycombe and is assigned the case of a missing child. Aditya Chopra targets Republic Day 2025 for Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR's War 2

The YRF Spy Universe is the most celebrated universe of Indian Cinema. In November 2023, Aditya Chopra is all set to start shooting for the Ayan Mukerji-directed War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, and NTR Jr. in the lead. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learned that Aditya Chopra and Hrithik Roshan are keen to bring the action-packed thriller during the Republic Day 2025 weekend.

A source informed Bollywood Hungama, "Republic Day weekend is proving to be a great money spinner for the Hindi Film Industry. Be it Agneepath or Pathaan, both Hrithik and YRF have tasted success on this date and are now considering a Republic Day 2025 release for War 2. In fact, Hrithik's next, Fighter, is also set to release on the same weekend in 2024."

The source further added that the entire schedule of War 2 has been planned keeping this release period in mind. "It's a tentative date and things have been worked around keeping this in mind. However, the exact date will be locked only once the film goes on floors in November. There is also a chance of the film being slightly delayed to mid-2025, but at the moment YRF is clear on targeting a Republic Day opening," the source told Bollywood Hungama further.

The release period of War 2 also matches the patriotic theme of the film, which is a face-off between Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. War 2 will be the next film of YRF Spy Universe after the Diwali 2023 release, Tiger 3. War 2 will be followed by Tiger vs Pathaan.

Rani Mukerji on Mardaani 3: "Once YRF has a great and concrete story idea, the film will get into scripting stage"

Rani Mukerji has revealed that YRF is currently ideating on the storyline of Mardaani 3! Rani is the only actress to have a blockbuster franchise to her credit in Mardaani. She plays a feisty and fearless cop, Shivani Shivaji Roy, in this franchise and she takes on criminals who prey on women.

Rani discloses, “Mardaani 3 is in the ideation stage. Once YRF has a great and concrete story idea, Mardaani 3 will get into the scripting stage. I’m excited to see how Mardaani 3 shapes up! I am crossing my fingers because I would love to play the part of Shivani.”

She adds, “When I did Mardaani 2, I was quite nervous because I had never done a sequel before. I was like how will it happen? Because I leave my characters behind each time a film gets over and I don’t know if I will be able to reprise that part again. With Mardaani 2, I was surprised that I enjoyed reprising the part. So now I have tasted blood. So now I want to reprise it again in 3.”

Rani says Mardaani 3’s script will need to be exceptional because the expectation from audiences is sky-high from this franchise and they would need to see a crackingly fresh story!

Rani says, “I will be very happy and excited if the Mardaani 3 script comes about really something that we would make a film. Because I as an actor always believe that we don’t want to do a film because it sounds good. We need to do a film when the script is good and when we want to make a film which is making a difference.”

She adds, “With Mardaani 3 we can’t make a film if the story does not have that substance. It has to be something that people relate to today, the girls find it empowering. Only then we can do Mardaani 3. We can’t do it just because it sounds exciting. SGPC objects to Meezaan Jafri wearing “Kirpan” in Yaariyan 2 song, files police complaint; makers release official statement

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken strong objection to actor Meezaan Jafri allegedly wearing a “kirpan”, a symbol of Sikh faith, in a song titled ‘Saure Ghar’ in the upcoming movie Yaariyan 2. The SGPC has filed a police complaint and asked for an immediate ban on the film and its song on YouTube.

The SGPC said that the actor is clean-shaven and non-Sikh and that only an initiated Sikh has the right to wear a kirpan. The SGPC also said that the film's directors have not clarified the matter satisfactorily.

The film's directors have said that the actor is wearing a “khukri” (a curved knife) and not a “kirpan”. They have also said that their intention was not to offend any religious beliefs.

The SGPC has said that it is not satisfied with the directors' clarification and that it is initiating legal action in the matter. The Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh has also directed the SGPC to take strict legal action in the matter.

In a statement, SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami said, "The insult to Sikh 'Kakaars' and Sikh principles cannot be tolerated in any film. The producer, directors, and actor of the film did not do it right by presenting 'Sikh Kakaar Kirpan' against Sikh principles and 'maryada' (conduct), he said."

The SGPC has also asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Information Technology and Electronics, and Central Film Board of Certification to take action against the film.

Diljit Dosanjh to drop his first collaboration with Latin sensation Camilo on August 31

Indian actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has been working on his new music. The singer recently revealed that he is simultaneously working on two albums – a collaboration album and another one which will likely be a Punjabi one. For the collaboration album, he has been teasing it on social media with several international talents. Amongst them is Latin sensation Camilo, with whom the song is already locked and ready to be dropped on August 31.

Teasing the collaboration on his Instagram account, Camilo wrote, “Palpita August 31st. Love and respect is our common language!” Recently, he also shared a glimpse of the song and was crooning the Punjabi lyrics.

Akshay Kumar spotted filming Sky Force in Sitapur; watch

On Tuesday, Akshay Kumar took to the open ground for his shot, an enthusiastic multitude of fans gathered, eager to catch a glimpse of their favourite superstar in action. Behind a secure fence, they cheered and waved as he rode the motorcycle, and Akshay responded with heartfelt waves and greetings. Around 9 days are left for the release of Jawan and the excitement is growing with each passing day. Shah Rukh Khan fans are excited as the film’s promotion will reach its peak this week. Yesterday, the superstar revealed that the song 'Not Ramaiya Vastvaiya' will be unveiled today, that is, Tuesday, August 29. Its teaser has been loved and hence, its song release is keenly awaited.

This will be followed by a grand pre-release event of Jawan. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The event will take place in Chennai, at Sri Sairam Engineering College in the evening. It will probably be held in its sprawling indoor stadium, the details of which are kept under wraps. Also, it’s unclear whether or not it’s a music launch event. Along with Shah Rukh Khan, the event will be graced by Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and director Atlee. Music director Anirudh is also expected to grace the occasion. More than a thousand students and fans will be in attendance.”

The source continued, “Recently, the pre-release event of Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Maaveeran (2023) was also held at Sri Sairam Engineering College. The events of South films usually take place in this fashion but for a Hindi film, this is a first, that too in Chennai. The Tamil industry and fans are excited as Shah Rukh Khan has a huge fan base down South. Hence, to see him and his film being promoted in their style has given them a kick.”

After the Chennai event, the much-awaited trailer of Jawan is expected to drop on Thursday, August 30. Shah Rukh Khan yesterday announced that he’ll be heading to Dubai, UAE where he’ll attend the film’s trailer launch on Thursday at the iconic structure, Burj Khalifa. The star asked fans to be a part of it and to wear red clothes for the launch.

Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, Jawan also stars Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover and Ridhi Dogra along with Deepika Padukone in a cameo. Jawan releases in cinemas worldwide on September 7, 2023.

Sunny Singh and Kriti Kharbanda to headline Abir Sengupta's neo-noir comic tragedy Risky Romeo

Filmmaker Abir Sengupta is set to bring an explosive saga of a modern-day existential crisis with his next feature titled Risky Romeo. The film, billed as an edgy and stylish neo-noir comic tragedy, stars Sunny Singh and Kriti Kharbanda in never-seen-before avatars. A passion project for the director, Abir is also producing Risky Romeo with Anushree Mehta under their banner Jaadugar Films in association with Priyanka Mehrotra and Rameshchandra Yadav of PR Motion Pictures.

The makers announced their film with a stunning and striking motion poster. "Thrilled to announce the film, writer-director Abir Sengupta— who had previously directed Kiara Advani starrer Indoo Ki Jawani and produced Radhika Apte starrer Mrs. Undercover," said Risky Romeo is a neo-noir comic tragedy that depicts human behaviour in a "very unusual manner."

"The script is filled with dark humour, outlandish characters and a surreal treatment. When I narrated the script to Sunny, he instantly picked up the essence of the film. My business partner and producer of the film Anushree Mehta then introduced me to Kriti. She too instantly connected with the script and I landed both my lead cast. Producer Anushree Mehta of Jaadugar Films jointly with Priyanka Mehrotra and Rameshchandra Yadav of PR Motion Pictures said, Risky Romeo will offer a genre 'rarely seen in Hindi cinema.' "Both our lead actors Sunny and Kriti will be seen in never-seen-before avatars and we cannot wait for the world to witness the same. This is a passion project in its true sense, not only for the writer-director but for everyone who is a part of Risky Romeo.”

After an apartment, Kajol invests in a massive office space in suburban Mumbai worth Rs. 7.64 crores

Kajol, who seems to be experimenting with not just films but also in the OTT space, recently purchased a massive apartment in Mumbai. And now a few days after that, reports have it that the actress has also invested in an office space in one of the plush and expensive localities of Andheri West in suburban Mumbai. As per reports of Propstack, the actress sealed the deal for the office space, located in Oshiwara area, last month for a whopping Rs. 7.64 crores.

Furthermore, according to these reports, the office space comprises of a sprawling 196.67 sq.m. which amounts to about 2000+ sq.ft. of RERA carpet area and is located in the Signature Building of Veera Desai Road, Andheri. These reports also suggest that the said deal was signed on July 28 with Vir Savarkar Projects Pvt. Ltd. About four months ago, Kajol had also purchased an apartment in Mumbai worth Rs. 16.50 crores and later her husband too was expected to have purchased five office spaces worth Rs. 45.09 crores.

Coming to her professional commitments, Kajol was last seen in the anthology series Lust Stories 2, in which she essayed the role of a mother of a teenager, as she dreams of moving away to London, away from her abusive husband, played by Kumud Mishra. Recently, she also ventured into the web series space with The Trial in which she essays the role of Noyonika, who decides to defend her family after her husband is caught in a scandal. The show is a remake of the popular American series The Good Wife.

Talking about her upcoming projects, reports have it that the actress has been signed to play a pivotal role in Sarzameen, which marks the acting debut of Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan. Along with that she also has the Netflix film Do Patti in the pipeline.

No further information was shared about this singer, leaving journalists and netizens wondering who this sensation is. Bollywood Hungama has now learned that Bhajan Kumar has a connection with YRF’s upcoming film, The Great Indian Family.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Bhajan Kumar is the name of Vicky Kaushal’s character in The Great Indian Family. He will be the attraction at the grand musical event, which will be held in the city on Wednesday, August 30. The promotions of The Great Indian Family will kickstart with this musical function.”

In our earlier article on Bhajan Kumar, the source claimed, “As the name suggests, Bhajan Kumar’s proficiency is in devotional music and YRF will showcase his singing talent at a live event designed to present him in front of the media. Veteran actress Soni Razdan, the mother-in-law of Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, has taken a cryptic dig at cancel culture amid the ongoing reports of trouble in Alia and Ranbir Kapoor's marriage.

Mumbai Police heightens security outside Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat over protests against his gaming ad; 4-5 people detained: Report

Mumbai Police heighted the security outside superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s residence Mannat in Mumbai after several people gathered outside his house to protest over endorsing gaming ads. The protestors allegedly said that these gaming ads misguide and corrupt the youth. Untouched India Foundation was holding protests against ads for apps like Junglee Rummy, Zupee, and others. Mumbai Police reportedly detained 4-5 people.

As reported by Free Press Journal, a statement from the organisation read, “Famous actors and actresses work in these advertisements and they are working towards misguiding the society. The protest will be held outside Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat bungalow on behalf of Untouched India Foundation.”

Krishnchandra Adal, President of Untouched India Foundation, said, “The new generation is involved in playing Junglee rummy. If someone is playing Junglee rummy or gambling outside, the police arrest them, but big Bollywood stars promoting online games are misleading the young generation. The Bollywood stars also know it is wrong, but they are getting money so they are promoting them. We make these stars famous by watching their movies and spending our money on them. We demand these advertisements to stop. These apps are illegal, we cannot find them on Google, but these apps are uploaded on private websites.”

He added, "Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, we oppose Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, Prakash Raj, Annu Kapoor, Rana Daggubati and cricketers who promote the online game. We wanted to protest outside the houses of these stars as well, but the police detained us."

After fall out with Shahid Kapoor, Anees Bazmee moves on to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with Kartik Aaryan

Anees Bazmee is one of the most celebrated directors of Indian Cinema with multiple memorable comedies under his name. The ace director was all set to start shooting for a double-role comedy with Shahid Kapoor in the lead, however, the film is now scrapped due to creative differences with the actor over the script. While most directors take time to cope with such setbacks, Anees Bazmee is unstoppable. According to our highly placed sources, Anees Bazmee has started working on Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 for Kartik Aaryan.

"Anees Bazmee and team are currently working on the script of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and are ready to take the film on floors in February 2024. The film is targeted to release during the Diwali 2024 weekend along with Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5," a source close to the director told Bollywood Hungama.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is produced by Bhushan Kumar and takes the franchise forward marking the return of Kartik Aaryan as Rooh Baba. "It's a cult comedy franchise. Kartik Aaryan and Anees Bazmee raised the stakes of the first part with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and are now looking to make the biggest one in the franchise. Both are excited about the reunion and have already had multiple meetings in the last 10 days for this horror comedy," the source further told Bollywood Hungama.

Apart from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Anees Bazmee is also speaking to Varun Dhawan for a comic caper, which will roll in 2nd half of 2024.

Trailer of Prabhas-starrer Salaar, Vicky Kaushal-starrer The Great Indian Family expected to be shown with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in cinemas

Around 10 days are left for the release of Jawan and the excitement in the air is considerable. The moviegoers in India are waiting with bated breath for the advance booking to commence. On the other hand, if exhibition sources are to be believed, then the trailers of two significant releases will be shown to the moviegoers when they venture out to watch Shah Rukh Khan’s action extravaganza on the big screen.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The highly awaited trailer of Salaar is expected to be out in the first week of September. If all goes well, it’ll be the second biggest blockbuster in September after Jawan. The makers will be sending the trailer to theatres across the country so that it can be played with Jawan.”

Salaar stars Prabhas and Shruti Haasan and is directed by Prashanth Neel of KGF fame. There are speculations that Salaar might be a part of the same universe as the Yash-starrer. Just like KGF, Salaar is also directed by Hombale Films. It releases on September 28.

And that’s not all. The source continued, “The trailer of The Great Indian Family will also be out next week. Yash Raj Films (YRF) will be sending the trailer to all the theatres. The exhibitors will be asked to play it. The announcement video of the film has got a good response and moreover, it stars Vicky Kaushal, who just delivered a surprise hit in the form of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023). Sunny Deol responds to criticism about Gadar 2 being anti-Pakistan: “People in both countries are like let it all go, we are normal humans on both sides”

Bollywood actors Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel are back on the big screen with the latest release, Gadar 2. The film, helmed by Anil Sharma, also stars Utkarsh Sharma. It has entered the Rs. 400 Crores Club at the Indian box office. Till now, the film has collected Rs. 439.95 crores. However, in a recent conversation, the actor was asked about the ongoing criticism that the movie allegedly perpetuates anti-Pakistan and anti-Muslim agenda.

In conversation with BBC Asian Network, Sunny was asked about how the film has been considered ‘anti-Pakistani’. The actor said that both countries have “hatred among one another” since the partition. “I think people in both countries are like let it all go, we are normal humans on both sides,” he said in Punjabi. He added that a story has to have a villain and a hero.

“But throughout the film, whenever I have portrayed any character, I have never run anyone down. I don’t believe in that. Even Tara Singh is not that kind of person, not that kind of character. And I believe in such cinema,” he added.

“But we need to look at cinema, it’s not trying to affect this side or that side. That’s not what we are. We are global, we are for everyone. It’s only when it’s read and spoken by a certain sectors of people, then that thoughts come in time. Majority don’t do that, it’s a handful of people. That’s when the wave comes,” he added.

When asked about the religious imagery around the villain of Gadar 2 when the current climate has been very disturbing, he said, “Don’t take these films so seriously. There’s so much rubbish happening on digital and even news channels. Cinema comes for entertainment.” However, Deol said that movies have a certain exaggeration to make them look good or bad.

A private school teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar has been accused of inciting religious hatred among children after she instructed them to slap their Muslim classmates. The incident, which has been caught on camera, has sparked outrage on social media and drawn condemnation from Bollywood celebrities.

In the video, the teacher can be seen asking the children to slap their classmate because he did not know the maths table. She also makes several derogatory remarks about Muslims. The child can be seen crying as he is slapped by the other students.

Urmila Matondkar tweeted, "This woman is seriously sick and mentally unstable. Such people should not be allowed around children. Let alone being a teacher." The police have registered a case against the teacher under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The school's principal has also been questioned by the police.

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan is 169 minutes long; gets UA certificate from CBFC

Post the super success of Pathaan, there has been keen excitement for Shah Rukh Khan’s next release, Jawan. The anticipation for the Atlee Kumar directorial venture has been increasing each passing week after the makers released the prevue of the film. It indicated that the movie is going to be a complete mass affair with SRK portraying different avatars.

Now, some more details about Jawan are out. It is learnt that the movie is 2 hours, 49 minutes and 14 seconds long, which comes down to 169.14 minutes. One must take note that this is the runtime of only the Hindi version of the movie. It will also be releasing in Tamil and Telugu languages. The movie has received a UA certificate from the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification).

Bollywood Hungama had earlier reported that SRK, Nayanthara and music composer Anirudh Ravichander will be attending a special audio launch event for Jawan in Chennai on August 30.

While there has been much talk among the cinegoers on whether the makers of Jawan will release the final trailer, SRK, just some time back, shared a teaser of the film’s next song ‘Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya,’ which will be released in the days to come. This will be the third song from the film to be launched after ‘Zinda Banda’ and ‘Chaleya’.

Lyricist Dev Kohli, known for Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Baazigar, passes away at 81

Veteran lyricist Dev Kohli passed away today at his residence in Mumbai. He was admitted at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for about three months for age related issues. He was discharged just 10 days ago. He breathed his last today at 4 am. He was 81. His last rites would be conducted today at the Oshiwara Crematorium in Mumbai.

Dev Kohli wrote songs for over 100 Bollywood movies. He started his career in the early 1970s with films like Lal Patthar, Khoon Khoon, Salaakhen, etc. He acquired more fame in late 1980s and 90s for his work in successful films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Patthar Ke Phool, 100 Days, Bhabhi, Khiladi, Balwaan, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Baazigar, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Kaante etc.

Kohli was active in films till around 2007-2008. Along with romantic films, he also wrote lyrics for David Dhawan comedies like Judwaa, Gharwali Baharwali, Biwi No. 1, Jodi No. 1, Kyun Kii… Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta and Chor Machaye Shor, thereby proving his versatility.

The veteran lyricist was known for working with a number of well-known music composers like Shankar-Jaikishan, Raam Laxman, Ravindra Jain, Anu Malik, Anand-Milind and Anand Raj Anand.

Television actress and influencer Anushka Sen has announced that she has been appointed Honorary Brand Ambassador of Korean Tourism. The actress took to her Instagram account to share the news.

Sharing a series of photos of herself holding a plaque, she wrote, “Immensely happy and excited to announce that I’ve been appointed as the ‘Honorary Brand Ambassador’ of Korean Tourism. Thanks to Korea Tourism Organization for giving me this big opportunity, it was my dream to become the bridge between Korea and India, and now it’s comes true. @kto_india.”

Back in 2022, she announced that she plans to extend her opportunities in the global market. She partnered with Asia Lab in order to enter the market and explore new opportunities. Anushka Sen wants to create content between India and Korea through various projects. "As a global platform for creatives, Asia Lab (based in South Korea) will manage Anushka Sen's expansion into the Korean and Global market. We are looking forward to various co-operations with the outstanding Indian actress," the statement read.

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's much-awaited film, Jawan, has become a sensation among the fans, consistently fuelling excitement through its promotional material. Former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh and Bollywood actress Hazel Keech are rejoicing as their family has expanded with the introduction of a new member. The couple recently celebrated the birth of a baby girl, adding to the warmth of their household that already included their son, Orion Keech Singh. The delighted parents took to their Instagram accounts to share the heartwarming news of their daughter's arrival, revealing her name to be Aura.

Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor to shoot Fighter climax in Mumbai: Report

Hrithik Roshan has begun the final leg of the shoot for his upcoming film, Fighter. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, also stars Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. Hrithik will be shooting for a week-long schedule in Mumbai, followed by a shoot at international locations.

"It's a week-long schedule in the city wherein Hrithik and Anil Kapoor will be shooting for some dramatic moments of the film's climax. Following this, the team moves on to shoot for a party number. It's a song choreographed by Bosco–Caesar and will be picturized on Hrithik, Deepika, and the other members of the cast. The duo is all excited to shoot for their first-ever dance number over a period of 6 days in the city," a source said to Pinkvilla.

The source added that the film's director, Siddharth Anand, is leaving no stone unturned to make it a memorable cinematic experience for the audience.

"Siddharth loves to mount his films and display the scale in every frame. Fighter is his passion project and he is leaving no stone unturned to make it a memorable cinematic experience for the audience. From the action blocks to dramatic confrontations and the music – Siddharth is ensuring larger-than-life elements in all aspects. Fighter is slated to release on the big screen on January 25, 2024. It is the third collaboration of Siddharth Anand with both Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone and the first ever for the two leads together.

Gadar 2 to be showcased at the Lok Sabha and New Parliament building for 3 days starting today

A while back we saw the release of the much talked about and keenly anticipated film Gadar 2. Marking the return of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel as the much-loved pair Tara Singh and Sakeena from the 2001 release Gadar – Ek Prem Katha, the film came with much hope, expectations, and anticipation attached. Revealing details of this special screening, a well-placed source tells Bollywood Hungama, “Looking at the success of the film and the audience craze it comes as no surprise that everyone wants to know what the film is about. Besides this, Sunny is a sitting MP, so it is obvious that others want to see what their peers are doing.” Ask for details of the screening and the source continues, “Zee Studios has been requested to host the screening of the film, and five shows have been organized today. This will be a historic moment, especially since it will mark the first time a film has been screened at the Lok Sabha and the new parliament building.”

While the business of the film has been rewriting box office history, Gadar 2 being screened at the Lok Sabah itself has created history. Currently, Gadar 2 continues to run to packed houses across the nation. In fact, trade predictions state that the business of the film will see yet another spurt in collections over the coming weekend.

National Film Awards 2023: Kangana Ranaut reacts after Thalaivii snub: “Art is subjective and I truly believe that the jury did their best”

The 69th National Film Awards took place on August 24 where the winners were announced. Sardar Udham won Best Film. While Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon won the Best Actress award respectively, Allu Arjun won Best Actor for Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01. However, Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivii, in which she played the role of J Jayalalithaa, was heavily snubbed. Reacting to the same, the actress took to Instagram stories to share a note about losing out.

On August 24, Kangana Ranaut wrote, “Congratulations to all the winners of #nationalawards2023. It's such an art carnival that brings all the artists across the country together...It's truly magical to know and to get introduced to so much important work that's happening across all languages.”

CBFC removes Scarlett Johansson's full-frontal nude shot from Asteroid City

Wes Anderson’s visually stunning drama, Asteroid City, was finally released in cinemas in India on August 25. The film was scheduled to release in India on June 23, a week after its release in North America on June 16, 2023. However, the film was postponed as it was stuck at the hands of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film was allowed a theatrical release, after two visual cuts.

As per the cut list, Scarlett Johansson’s full frontal nude shot, lasting around 3 seconds, was axed by the CBFC. The scene has been edited smoothly and viewers won’t even realize that the crucial sequence had a cut.

Scarlett Johansson, in an interview, said that she didn't feel any discomfort about filming one of her rare nude scenes. She, however, added that Wes Anderson was uncomfortable filming the sequence.

The other scene cut by CBFC lasts around 30 seconds and shows a child smoking. The removal of this scene does affect the experience a bit for the viewers as it establishes the growing romance between the two characters.

After these cuts were carried out, the CBFC passed the film with a U/A certificate. The run time of Asteroid City, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 105 minutes, that is, 1 hour and 45 minutes. A source said, “The film was pushed by nearly two months as it took a while for the team in India to get approvals from the makers for the deletion of these two visuals.”

Asteroid City is not the first Wes Anderson film to get cuts from the Censors. His much-loved film, The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), was given an ‘A’ certificate and yet, four minutes of its scenes were removed. Scenes of violence and even the word ‘f**k’ were retained but shots involving sexual undertones and visuals were snipped. Shockingly, a non-violent and non-sexual scene where characters decide to escape from prison using chocolate-based confectionery was deleted. CBFC suffered a lot of backlash due to these cuts.

Last month, another Hollywood film that got cut was Oppenheimer. Unlike Asteroid City, the makers of Oppenheimer self-censored the much-talked-about sex scene involving Florence Pugh. The makers went as far as editing a nude shot of her with a CGI-made black dress, leaving viewers amused and even agitated. What also shocked viewers was that the controversial Bhagavad Gita scene was retained by the CBFC.

Legal twist: Kangana Ranaut’s summons to Javed Akhtar stayed

In a significant development in the defamation case filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar against actress Kangana Ranaut, the legal proceedings have taken a new turn. Kangana Ranaut's legal team had earlier summoned Javed Akhtar to appear before the Andheri court on August 30 in the defamation case. However, Javed Akhtar's legal team moved to the Dindoshi court, which has temporarily stayed the summons until the next date of hearing.

As a result, Javed Akhtar will not be required to appear before the Andheri court, with the next hearing scheduled for October 18. This development comes after a sessions court on August 8 had instructed Kangana Ranaut to file a reply to Javed Akhtar's application challenging the summons issued to him by a magistrate’s court in a case initiated by the actress.

Javed Akhtar had filed a complaint in 2020, alleging that Kangana Ranaut had made defamatory statements against him during a television interview, damaging his reputation. Ranaut had mentioned Akhtar's name while referring to a 'coterie' in Bollywood, following the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020.

Akhtar's revision petition before the sessions court argued that the summons had been issued by the metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri hastily and inappropriately, resulting in a miscarriage of justice. The plea maintained that there was insufficient material available with the magistrate for such an order, and the complaint's allegations did not apply to the petitioner.

The legal battle between Javed Akhtar and Kangana Ranaut continues, with further proceedings expected in October.

Filmmakers race to register titles based on India's Chandrayaan-3 mission: Report

Indian cinema has a long history of making films based on real-life events, and the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission is no exception. In the days since India's moon landing, many filmmakers and production houses have rushed to register film titles related to the mission.

The offices of the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA), Producers Guild of India, and Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) in Mumbai have been inundated with requests.

As per a report by News 18, some of the titles that have been registered include Chandrayaan-3, Mission Chandrayaan-3, Chandrayaan-3: The Moon Mission, Vikram Lander, and Bharat Chand Par.

The report further quoted an IMPPA official who said that they are reviewing all of the requests and will only approve those that they find genuine. They are also mindful of the fact that many titles were registered after the Pulwama attacks, but not many films or web series were actually made on the incident.

The official said that they want to ensure that only those titles that are truly in the public interest are approved.

However, after announcing the news about the third instalment, there have been a lot of changes in the casting front and it is being said that Arshad Warsi and Suniel Shetty have been roped in for the film. And now yet another name which has been added is that of Raveena Tandon.

Although the exact details of the characters etc. are yet to be revealed, recent reports claim that Raveena Tandon has been roped in to play a pivotal role in this comedy entertainer. If the reports are true, Bollywood buffs will see their ‘Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ co-stars reunite after almost two decades for Welcome 3. For the unversed, Akshay and Raveena were not only one of the most sought-after actors of the 90s era but they have also been one of the most beloved couples onscreen. Together, they have featured in films like Mohra, Barood, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, among others. Moreover, some may also be aware that the two actors were also engaged for a brief period of time but later, decided to go their separate ways. However, both of them have maintained that they share a cordial relationship with each other.

For the unversed, Raveena Tandon is married to Anil Thadani and has two kids with the film distributor and entrepreneur. Her daughter Rasha Tandon is expected to make her Bollywood debut soon. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar is married to former actress turned author Twinkle Khanna, and has two kids with her. Their son Aarav is currently studying abroad whereas they also have a 11-year-old daughter named Nitara.

Prakash Raj in legal trouble! Booked for sharing meme on Chandrayaan-3 mission

Renowned actor Prakash Raj has been booked in a police station in Karnataka's Bagalkot district for sharing a meme on the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s moon mission Chandrayaan-3. A complaint was filed against the actor by Hindu organisations leaders in Banahatti police station of Bagalkote district on Tuesday. 

As per a report by PTI, the police said, “A complaint has been filed against actor Prakash Raj for his post on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Hindu organisations leaders filed a complaint against the actor in Banahatti police station of Bagalkote district and have demanded action.”

Earlier on Sunday, Prakash Raj took to the microblogging site Twitter to share a caricature of a man in a shirt and lungi pouring tea. Sharing the picture, he wrote, “First view just arrived from Chandrayaan .. #VikramLander #justasking."

The meme was in reference to the fact that the first person to walk on the moon was Neil Armstrong, an American. However, some people interpreted the meme as being disrespectful to the ISRO and the Chandrayaan-3 mission. “Hate sees only Hate.. i was referring to a joke of #Armstrong times .. celebrating our kerala Chaiwala .. which Chaiwala did the TROLLS see ?? .. if you dont get a joke then the joke is on you .. GROW UP,” Raj wrote in an Instagram post.

Prakash Raj has since clarified that he did not mean to disrespect the ISRO or the Chandrayaan-3 mission. He said that the meme was just a joke and that he did not mean to hurt anyone's sentiments.

Shabana Azmi to lodge police complaint after her name was misused for phishing scams

Shabana Azmi, who is recently receiving a lot of love for her role as Jamini in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, has been warning others of phishing scheme. According to the actress, someone has been misusing her name, and messaging her friends and acquaintances. The actress has taken to social media to warn her near and dear ones about the imposter, further asserting that she will be lodging a complaint soon in the cyber cell regarding the incident.

In a notice shared by Shabana Azmi on her social media account on X, which was previously known as Twitter, it read It has come to our notice that some of our colleagues and associates, have received messages purported to be from Ms Shabana Azmi. These are clearly “phishing” attempts asking responders to make purchases on App Store for the messenger.”“ Further, asking the netizens to beware of such scams, the notice read, “Please do not reply or pick any calls/messages that appear to be coming to you from Shabanaji. This is a cybercrime of impersonation, and we are making a police complaint. As of now the two numbers from which these messages have been reported are +66987577041 and +998917811675. Thank you.”

Although no further details on the same has been reported, Shabana has asserted that a legal action will be taken against the impostor and other perpetrators.

Coming to work, Shabana Azmi was recently seen in Karan Johar’s recent romantic comedy Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani which featured her in the role of a Bengali poet lover Jamini Chatterjee, as she also essayed the role of Alia Bhatt aka Rani’s grandmother in the movie. It featured her alongside Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan with Ranveer Singh as the male lead. The film received a lot of appreciation for the way it dealt with subjects like cultural differences, body shaming, respecting women, extra marital affairs, among others and released on July 28.

Farhan Akhtar in talks to lead Begin Again remake; Nitya Mehra to direct

Following the announcement of Don 3 starring Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar seems to be returning to the acting game. The actor is reportedly in talks to star in the Hindi remake of the 2013 Hollywood movie Begin Again. It will be produced by Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment and helmed by Nitya Mehra. The paperwork for the project is underway and once it is completed, the makers plan to announce it.

As per a report in Pinkvilla, a source revealed, “Farhan, and Nitya in talks for a musical comedy for a while now, and things are in advanced stages of development at the moment.   It’s said to be a remake of the 2013 Hollywood classic, Begin Again, and will go on floors by the end of this year with a start-to-finish schedule. The film chronicles the journey of a musician, who goes on to produce an album that breaks all the records.”

The source added, “Farhan was also committed to doing Champions for Aamir Khan Production, but the film as of today is slated to go on floors in January 2024. This will be followed by another acting assignment for Farhan, to be produced by Excel Entertainment and then finally Don 3.”

Starring Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley, the story revolves around Gretta and her long-time boyfriend Dave who are college sweethearts and songwriting partners who decamp for New York when he lands a deal with a major label. But the trappings of his new-found fame soon tempt Dave to stray, and a reeling, lovelorn Gretta is left on her own. Her world takes a turn for the better when Dan, a disgraced record-label executive, stumbles upon her performing on an East Village stage and is immediately captivated by her raw talent. From this chance encounter emerges an enchanting portrait of a mutually transformative collaboration, set to the soundtrack of a summer in New York City.

Farhan Akhtar and the female lead will be making the story keeping the Indian music industry at the centre of it.

In recent times, in a conversation with Khaleej Times, the director said, "So, my focus is currently on Don 3 and Jee Le Zaraa will be picked up post that. I'm also doing two films next year before we get into Don 3, as an actor. In January, I will start a film that is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions. It's being directed by RS Prasanna, who directed Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. He's a great director. Then I will do another film for Excel Entertainment, which will start roughly in June or July. And then I get into directing Don 3." Nora Fatehi replaces Jacqueline Fernandez in Vidyut Jammwal’s Crakk - Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa: Report

Back in October 2022, Vidyut Jammwal and Aditya Datt announced their next project Crakk - Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa which is scheduled to release in 2023. It was presented by Reliance Entertainment and produced by Action Hero Films & PZ Pictures, and will be jointly produced by Vidyut Jammwal, Parag Sanghvi, and Action Hero Films and is written as well as directed by Aditya Datt. The film also stars Arjun Rampal with Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead role. However, it seems like Fernandez has now been replaced in the movie by Nora Fatehi.

In recent times, T-Series took over the production of the project. Jacqueline Fernandez has been in the headlines since her alleged involvement with Sukesh Chandrashekar. The actress had reportedly kicked off shooting in October itself. Now, as per a report in Hindustan Times, Nora is on board as the female lead. Interestingly, she is also mired in the same controversy and they are currently at loggerheads over a defamation case.

Crakk - Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa is going to be India’s first-ever extreme sports action film and revolves around the journey of a man from the slums of Mumbai to the world of extreme underground sports. It will have Vidyut Jammwal performing a variety of extreme sports stunts and action sequences all on his own.

Crakk is co-produced by Adi Sharmaa and Aditya Chowksey, written by Aditya Datt, Sarim Momim, Rehan Khan with the additional screenplay - dialogue by Mohendar Pratap Singh. Crakk - Jeetegaa Toh Jiyegaa has commenced shooting in Poland and is scheduled to release in 2023. Currently, Bollywood is experiencing an all-time high with audiences accepting Hindi films once again wholeheartedly. From Satyaprem Ki Katha to Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani to now OMG 2 and of course, the very successful Gadar 2, audiences have been showering their love on cinema and theatres. Recently, Ameesha Patel, who is riding high on the grand success of her recent release Gadar 2, recalled the time when she was approached for the film and how many people had discouraged her to do it. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha revealed that many of them had written off Gadar 2.

We all know the massive impact that the pandemic had on the Indian film industry, especially theatres and multiplexes. While a lot of that impact continued well into 2022 too, Ameesha Patel revealed that they were quite nervous to go ahead with Gadar 2, because many people made her believe that it is difficult to bring back audiences to theatres. Ameesha told Bollywood Hungama, “When Gadar 2 was under production, many people had written off Gadar 2 just like they did during the release of Gadar 1. There's too much similarity that happens I think when it comes to the brand Gadar. And many questioned, ‘Will people go?’ and some said, ‘That era of cinema is gone. People are happy to be at home and watch OTT for free at their own time and space and stop and pause and return to the film in two days or, as time permits, depending on their convenience’.”

She continued, “Some said, ‘So theek hai, maybe you’ll will get a few people going because the love for Tara and Sakeena is so much that they will want to know ki Tara aur Sakeena ke life mein aage kya hota hai par woh jo Gadar ne kiya woh toh aap chod hi do khwaab (What happens in Tara and Sakina’s life but what Gadar did, well that is not going to happen again)’. This was said by people within the industry and outside it. Even friends and family told me this. I know that a lot of people had doubts and stuff.”

Ameesha concluded by adding, “The most important thing is for everyone involved in a filmmaking process to do it with all your heart and soul. Because that's when bade parde pe dikhta hai woh mehnat aur woh lagan and I guess that's what's happened.”

Delhi HC rules against Akshay Kumar's Khiladi producer in trademark dispute over 'Khiladi'

The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea by the production house behind Akshay Kumar starrer films, Khiladi and Main Khiladi Tu Anari, against the use of the word “Khiladi” in the title of a Telugu film. Justice Jyoti Singh said that the plaintiff, Venus Worldwide Entertainment, had failed to make out a prima facie case in its favour and that the balance of convenience also did not lie in its favour.

As per a report by PTI, the plaintiff had argued that the use of the word “Khiladi” by the Telugu film would deceive and confuse the public, as it would be associated with the plaintiff’s films. However, the court found that the word “Khiladi” is a “generic word of non-distinctive character” and that there was no deceptive similarity between the two films.

The court also noted that as many as 40 films and shows have been produced in various languages with the name “Khiladi” and out of those, only two were produced by the plaintiff.

The defendant, the makers of the Telugu film, had opposed the application and informed the court that the film was released in theatres, both in Telugu and Hindi dubbed versions, in February 2022 and was made available on OTT/Satellite Platforms later.

The court said that the defendant would suffer irreparable loss and injury if the injunction was granted.

Neeraj Pandey announces second season of Khakee on Netflix

Aamir Khan plans on making a platform for young people to discover talent, produce more films: “I have given some time to my production house”

Ever since his last release Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan has not announced any of his future projects. While the film didn’t do well at the box office, the actor is ensuring that the focus now is more on producing content via his Aamir Khan Productions. Recently, the actor attended a book launch event where he spoke about his forthcoming projects.

On Monday, at the book launch event, Aamir Khan said, “Iss waqt main apni family life bahut enjoy kar raha hoon, baccho ke saath main waqt bita raha hu, mummy ke saath ghar pe aur main production house pe bhi dhyaan de raha hoon; filmein produce kar raha hu. Main pehle bahut kam films produce karta tha, lekin abhi humlog kaafi films produce karne ki soch rahe hain (Right now I am enjoying my family life very much, spending time with kids, being at home with my mother and also focusing on my production house, producing several projects. Earlier I used to produce very few films, but now we are planning to produce a lot of films).”

He further added, "As a production house ek platform ban saku young logo k liye, unka kaam saamne rakhne ke liye ek zaariya ban saku. Toh uss soch se maine thoda waqt diya hain apne production house ko taaki main systems create karu production house mein taaki phir se joh subject mujhe achha lage jaldi se jaldi ban sake aur hum ek saath do teen films bana sake. Uss sabka main planning kar raha hoon taaki platform mile logo ko, youngsters ko (As a production house, it could become a platform for young people to showcase their work. So with that thought, I have given some time to my production house so that I can create the system in the production house so that the subject which I like can be made as soon as possible and we can make two or three films together. I am doing the main planning so that people and youngsters get a platform).”
