South Korean pop-group EXO member KAI has made his much-awaited comeback with ‘Peaches’, his second mini-album as a solo artist, following the announcement earlier this month. ‘Peaches’ is the title track of Kai’s sophomore mini-album of the same name. The six-track record also marks exactly one year since Kai made his solo debut in 2020 with his first mini-album ‘KAI (开)’. The album was dropped with a dreamy music video.
As compared to his previous release ‘Mmmh’, the new lead track Peaches has soft tones and light visuals. The music video features traditional Korean outfits [hanbok] along with the background and sets that draw influence from traditional Korean architecture and art. The lyrics of the track compares the love interest and the romantic moments that one spend with their lover to that of a sweet fruit- Peach and expresses the feeling of wanting to stay with that person in a place like paradise. Kai croons on the chorus of the R&B track, “Pretty girl, you’re like peaches / It’s a soft embrace / Sweetness that spreads in my mouth / feels good to be the and guy.” The vocals blends perfectly with the aesthetics of the music video.
As for the dance moves, Kai has kept it soft and dreamy, without any difficult moves yet unique choreography. It can be very well be felt that Kai is enjoying himself in the music video as he lays down, yawns with all soft smiles on his face, sitting peacefully under a tree then dancing in hanbok.
‘Peaches’ is a medium-tempo R&B song composed by Wolfgvng, Zach Sorgen, Ryan Jhun, Harold Philippon, and Yoo Young Jin, and the Korean lyrics were written by Kim An Na (ARTiffect).
In addition to Peaches, the mini-album Peaches features five more songs — ‘Vanilla’, ‘Domino’, ‘Come In’, ‘To Be Honest’ and ‘Blue’.
Kai’s comeback was first confirmed by his label, SM Entertainment last month, after reports surfaced that the singer had been preparing for a “solo album” and is expected to return sometime in “late November”.
On the work front, Kai also currently stars in Netflix’s new reality show New World, alongside SUPER JUNIOR‘s Heechul, Lee Seung-gi, Park Na-rae, Eun Ji-won and Jo Bo-ah. The show follows the celebrities as they find ways to earn virtual currency on a utopian island before their stay draws to a close. On October 12, he was announced to have become the first ever male muse of the cosmetics brand Bobbi Brown. Earlier this year, the fashion icon also became the ambassador for Seoul Fashion Week Spring 2022.
