MUMBAI SAGA FIRST LOOK: John Abraham is an angry gangster, Emraan Hashmi turns cop in Sanjay Gupta directorial

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, who has directed films like Shootout At Wadala and Kaabil, has been busy with the shooting of his gangster drama, Mumbai Saga. The film, which stars John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi in the leading roles, began shooting in August last year in South Mumbai.

Set in the 1990s, the story revolves around gangsters and cops. The first look of the lead actors has been revealed. John Abraham looks menacing as a fierce gangster. Dressed in grey kurta and white pajama, a red tika on his forehead, the actor is staring at someone in anger. Emraan Hashmi takes on the cop avatar for the film.

During the shoot, John tore his arm ligament and has been advised eight weeks rest. The director said that John did not inform them and dived into action sequences and therefore, aggravated his injury. The last two weeks of shoot require a lot of action sequences to be shot. Once John is recovered, they will resume sometime next month.

Sanjay Gupta’s Mumbai Saga is produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series. Set in the 1980s-1990s period, it stars John Abraham, Emraan Hashmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover, Rohit Roy, and Amole Gupte. It is set for 2020 release.
