Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani to wrap action and song scenes in 40-day Bangkok schedule for Awarapan 2: Report

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, sparked waves of nostalgia for the classic Emraan Hashmi era, with fans filling social media with calls for his return to the kind of intense, brooding roles that defined his early career. While Hashmi has consistently delivered projects on the big screen, it’s been a while since he explored a part in the same space as Awarapan. That is set to change with Awarapan 2, which recently went on floors in Bangkok under director Nitin Kakkar, co-starring Disha Patani in a pivotal role.

According to a Mid-Day report, the team has locked in a 40-day Bangkok schedule, after which filming will continue extensively in Mumbai. A source revealed, “The last moments of Awarapan showed a dream sequence of Shivam reuniting with his love, played by Shriya Saran. The sequel begins from this point — Shivam comes back to life and meets Disha’s character, who helps him in his next mission. Last week, Nitin and producer Vishesh started shooting on a bustling Bangkok street. This week, they will film a high-octane action scene in a local market. All the action set-pieces and songs will be completed during this leg. The producer has arranged tight security as filming is taking place in real locations, and they don’t want pictures leaking online.”

The source also shared details about the cast’s prep: “Shivam has matured after his loss. Emraan will be seen with a leaner frame and a French beard. Disha has undergone intense training as she has many action sequences in the film.” The Bangkok schedule is expected to wrap by early November, after which the focus will shift to emotional sequences in Mumbai. The makers have already planned two schedules there, one of which will involve a sprawling set recreating the characters’ homes inside a suburban studio.

Director Nitin Kakkar is expected to dedicate early 2026 to post-production before the film’s scheduled release on April 3, 2026. Interestingly, Awarapan 2 is among the fastest-moving sequels in recent memory — announced just six months ago, the film has already gone on floors.

Deepika Padukone’s role in Atlee’s AA22 x A6 with Allu Arjun trimmed? Here’s what we know!

Of late, Deepika Padukone has been in the news as much for her film choices as for the chatter surrounding them. After her exit from Spirit earlier this year and Kalki 2898 AD reportedly over differences related to fees and working hours, the actress is once again making headlines—this time for her upcoming projects. Padukone recently began filming King in Poland alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Now, according to reports, she is set to kick off the shoot for Atlee’s highly anticipated AA22 x A6 with Allu Arjun in October, right after wrapping up King.

A report by Mid-Day clarified speculation about her role being trimmed in the ensemble film. Quoting a source, it stated: “There is no truth to rumours that Deepika’s screen time has been reduced. Her role has not changed from what she was offered when she came on board in June. She has a fierce part, which is essential to the first and second acts of the narrative.”

Reportedly, Padukone has allocated dates from late October until the end of December. The first schedule will introduce her character, followed by large-scale action set-pieces in November, including a chase sequence designed by Atlee with a South Korean stunt team. In December, the production is expected to shift to the UAE, where Padukone and Arjun will film a crucial mid-film twist and emotional sequences.

The sci-fi action drama, said to explore themes of time travel, reportedly features Arjun in multiple roles and an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Janhvi Kapoor, and Mrunal Thakur alongside Padukone. The presence of so many leading ladies has sparked speculation that Padukone’s role is a cameo, but insiders insist otherwise: “It’s not a cameo at all. Her character drives the story. Every actor has a clearly etched-out part.”

For now, fans will have to wait for Deepika Padukone to officially announce the commencement of her shoot.

Kabir Khan REACTS to Donald Trump’s 100% duty on foreign films: “His statement is too broad to be understood”

US President Donald Trump has triggered debate in the global entertainment industry with his latest declaration—plans to impose a 100 per cent tariff on movies produced outside the United States. The announcement, made via posts on his social media platform Truth Social, drew sharp reactions from filmmakers around the world, including Indian director Kabir Khan.

Trump argued that international productions have undermined America’s film industry, writing, “California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit! Therefore, in order to solve this long-time, never-ending problem, I will be imposing a 100 per cent Tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States.” He further claimed that foreign nations had “stolen” moviemaking from the U.S., likening it to “taking candy from a baby.”

Responding to the remarks, Kabir Khan questioned both the feasibility and clarity of the proposal. Speaking to NDTV, he said, “I have no idea what he means when he says ‘made outside of the United States’ because every second Hollywood film is shot outside of the USA, the VFX is executed outside of the USA. And tariff on what? The ticket price? His statement is too broad to be understood properly. Firstly, let’s see if he remembers this tomorrow when he wakes up.”

The filmmaker’s comments highlight concerns across the industry about how such a policy could even be enforced, especially given Hollywood’s heavy reliance on international shooting locations, post-production hubs, and talent pools.

Before Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted Rani Mukerji as Gangubai: Aditya Narayan

Singer and television host Aditya Narayan recently shared a lesser-known detail about the early development of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s critically acclaimed film Gangubai Kathiawadi. In a conversation with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their YouTube channel, Aditya revealed that Bhansali had initially considered casting Rani Mukerji in the lead role—years before the film was eventually made with Alia Bhatt.

Aditya, who once worked with Bhansali as an assistant director, said the opportunity came after a challenging period in his career. Following the commercial failure of his film Shaapit, Aditya struggled to find work and was out of the spotlight for nearly a year. During that time, even basic support from public relations professionals dried up, and previous project offers disappeared.

His fortunes began to shift when he got the chance to host X Factor India, where Bhansali was one of the judges. Encouraged by singer Sonu Nigam, Aditya expressed interest in learning filmmaking and approached Bhansali for an assistant director role. Initially, Bhansali didn’t take him seriously. “He didn’t give me any work the first week—probably thought I’d quit,” Aditya recalled. But eventually, Bhansali involved him in the creative process. During that time, Bhansali was developing two scripts—Ram-Leela and Gangubai Kathiawadi. According to Aditya, the director asked his team for feedback on both. “He handed us the two scripts and asked which one we thought was better. I liked Ram-Leela more,” Aditya said. He also revealed that Bhansali had once envisioned Gangubai Kathiawadi with Rani Mukerji in the lead role. However, the project took a different turn, and several years later, the role went to Alia Bhatt.

When Gangubai Kathiawadi finally released in 2022, it became both a critical and commercial success. Based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, the film followed the life of Gangubai, a woman who rose from difficult circumstances to become a powerful and influential figure in Mumbai’s Kamathipura district. Alia Bhatt’s performance earned her the National Award for Best Actress at the 69th National Film Awards.

The film also featured Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Jim Sarbh, Seema Pahwa, and Ajay Devgn, and went on to earn Rs. 211.5 crores worldwide. As of now, Aditya Narayan is appearing on the reality show Rise & Fall, hosted by Ashneer Grover, while Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently working on his next film, Love & War, starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal. The film is expected to release in 2026.

Sunny Deol to resume shooting final leg of Lahore 1947 in Punjab, film release pushed to 2026: Report

Aamir Khan’s production Lahore 1947 is heading into its final schedule. After initial reports in November last year suggested that Khan had recommended changes to the film following its first cut, it appears director Rajkumar Santoshi and leading man Sunny Deol are set to implement those revisions.

A report by Mid-Day reveals that Sunny Deol will return to the sets next week for what is expected to be the last leg of the period drama, which traces the emotional journey of people caught in the upheaval of India’s Partition. The unit will travel to Punjab for the schedule, with preparations already underway. “Sunny and Santoshi sir will shoot most of these newly envisioned sequences in real locations of Punjab. The shoot will begin on October 10 and go on for 12 days,” the source told the portal.

While the ensemble cast also features Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi, the final schedule will focus solely on Deol, as the other principal actors have completed their portions. Preity wrapped up filming in June this year, sharing a heartfelt note and montage on Instagram. Calling it “the toughest film” she has worked on, she thanked Rajkumar Santoshi, Aamir Khan, Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, cinematographer Santosh Sivan, and composer A.R. Rahman, adding, “I sincerely hope all of you appreciate & enjoy this film as much as we did making it.”

The period drama went on floors in February 2024 with an eye on a 2025 release. However, the makers have decided to extend the timeline. An insider reveals, “When Aamir, Sunny, and Santoshi sat down to discuss the film’s progress, they unanimously agreed that it was more important to have a superior quality product than to compromise on the vision for a quick release.” The film is now expected to arrive in cinemas in 2026, with post-production already underway.

Akshay Kumar counters Aamir Khan’s six-month gap between theatres and streaming releases: “OTT platforms also need to benefit from the deal”

The ongoing debate over the ideal gap between theatrical releases and OTT premieres has found two of Bollywood’s biggest stars on opposite ends. After Aamir Khan recently advocated for a six-month window to protect the theatrical business, Akshay Kumar has voiced his disagreement, suggesting that a shorter gap is more practical for all stakeholders.

In a conversation with ABP Live, Akshay stressed that OTT platforms, which invest heavily in digital rights, also deserve fair treatment. “According to me, a three-month gap is okay. Six months is too long because at the end of the day, the OTT platform is paying you for the digital rights. They also need to benefit from the deal,” he said.

The actor-producer added that the industry should return to the pre-pandemic model, where theatres and streaming platforms co-existed without friction. “When it comes to digital rights sale, producers happily take money from the OTT platform. But when we want to, we also conveniently say our films aren’t working because of OTT. We don’t consider that maybe we’re not making the right films,” he remarked.

Akshay admitted he consumes a significant amount of OTT content himself, not just for entertainment but also to scout talent for his own projects. “I don’t have any other work than making movies. Since I’m not educated, I do only movies. So, I get a lot of time to watch OTT,” he shared. Acknowledging his journey, he added, “Thirty percent is hard work, which should feel like you’ve done 100% hard work, but you also need that 70% luck to make it. When I enter a studio, I often see a struggler better looking, a better dancer, and who does better action than me, but he hasn’t gotten a chance yet.”

His comments come in the backdrop of Aamir Khan’s evolving perspective on the theatrical-to-OTT window. The Laal Singh Chaddha star has long criticized the shrinking gap, blaming it for dwindling footfalls in cinemas. After Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies underperformed theatrically but found immense popularity upon its Netflix release, Aamir doubled down on his call for a minimum six-month gap.

At present, most films follow an eight-week theatrical-to-digital model.

Is Crew 2 happening? Rhea Kapoor’s team addresses rumours! Check inside

Amid growing speculation about a sequel to the 2024 hit Crew, Rhea Kapoor and her production banner, Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network (AKFCN), have issued a formal statement addressing the reports.

“We remain grateful for the love, curiosity, and critical acclaim that Crew continues to receive around the world. On behalf of AKFCN, we warmly congratulate Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon for the recognition and nominations their performances are earning. As for what the future holds, any news about the next chapter of AKFCN, including where the world of Crew goes from here and the stories yet to come, will be shared by AKFCN in due course, when the time – and the stories – are ready,” the statement read.

The clarification follows a recent Pinkvilla report claiming that Crew 2 is already in the works, with Kareena Kapoor Khan expected to reprise her role. According to the portal, the makers had been exploring multiple storylines before finalising an idea that could seamlessly extend the Crew universe.

Interestingly, Rhea herself had hinted at the possibility of a sequel earlier this year. In an interview with Variety in April 2024, she revealed that the thought of continuing the story had emerged almost immediately after the shoot. “I really get scared of sequels, I’m so afraid of them, Ekta (Kapoor, co-producer) gets so annoyed with me… but this is the first film where I finished the film and a week later, my writers have messaged me and told me that they have an idea for the sequel. I was like, this is crazy. This is insane. There’s so much excitement and joy around this film that this time I might actually just do it. But I actually think that this film could make a really fun sequel because the end is open-ended,” she had said.

With the makers now choosing to keep future plans under wraps, fans will have to wait for an official announcement to know whether Crew will indeed return with a second instalment.

SCOOP: Teaser of Ajay Devgn-starrer De De Pyaar De 2 expected to be released on October 12

The rom-com De De Pyaar De (2019) was a decent box office success, thanks to its unusual storyline, hilarious moments, strong performances, and songs. Hence, there was a lot of excitement when it was reported that a sequel to De De Pyaar De is in the works. The film is now almost ready and less than two months away from release. And if sources are to be believed, then the first asset is all set to drop in the first half of October.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The makers plan to launch the teaser of De De Pyaar De 2 on October 12. A clearer picture will emerge in a few days, but as of now, this date has been seriously considered by the team.”

The source further said, “The makers are excited about the film and the teaser will give a small hint about the film’s theme, madness and its principal characters. It's sure to enhance the buzz for the romantic comedy.”

De De Pyaar De starred Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Tabu. It told the story of a 50-year-old divorcee who gets into a relationship with a 26-year-old girl. The first part was directed by Akiv Ali and focused on the chaos that ensues when the man tries to win the approval of his family for his newfound love. De De Pyaar De 2 is directed by Anshul Sharma and it marks the entry of R Madhavan as Rakul’s father. As per reports, it is the story of a hilarious one-upmanship that will ensue between Ajay and Madhavan, over Rakul’s character dating a man older than her father. Both films are backed by Luv Films and T-Series. It’ll be released in cinemas on November 14.

A few days ago, it came to light that a promotional song of De De Pyaar De 2 was shot at a restobar in Mumbai. Pictures from the sets were widely shared by fans of Ajay Devgn.

EXCLUSIVE: Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari vs Kantara: Makers of Varun Dhawan-starrer ask for 50% showcasing in 2-screen theatres, 33% showcasing in 3-screen multiplexes, 25% showcasing in 4-screen theatres

Bollywood Hungama was the first one to break the viral news that AA Films, the distributors of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1, have asked for 100% showcasing in single-screen, two-screen and even three-screen multiplexes. The news shocked the trade and industry as it was an attempt to ensure that the Varun Dhawan-starrer Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which also releases on the same day as the Rishab Shetty-starrer, doesn’t get sufficient shows. Meanwhile, the exhibition community was waiting to see what Dharma Productions, the producers as well as distributors of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, had to say about showcasing. Bollywood Hungama has learned that in the evening of September 27, they sent their list of requirements to exhibitors across the country.

An exhibition source told Bollywood Hungama, “The distribution team of Dharma Productions has asked cinemas that they want their film to be played in minimum 1 audi in 2-screen cinemas, that too in all shows. This means that they are asking for 50% showcasing in two-screen theatres. However, they have the same demand of 1 audi in three-screen theatres as well. And that’s not all. Even in multiplexes with four screens, their demand is the same – all shows in one of the 4 screens. Finally, for theatres with 5 screens or more, their request is for showcasing in minimum 2 audis.”

In short, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’s distributors have asked for 50% showcasing in 2-screen cinemas, 33% showcasing in 3-screen multiplexes and 25% showcasing in 4-screen theatres. Industry sources have called it a fair demand. An insider commented, “Dharma is being realistic as they are aware that Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 is a bigger and more expensive film than theirs. But they are also making it clear that their product is also worth it and asking for reasonable showcasing.”

A trade expert revealed, “It now remains to be seen if AA Films softens its stand and allows Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari to go ahead with their demand. Interestingly, the mail sent by Dharma has no mention of their requirement in the single-screen cinemas.”

What Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’s distributors have demanded

Besides asking for 100% showcasing in single-screen, two-screen and three-screen multiplexes, AA Films has demanded 21 shows of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 in four-screen theatres, 27 shows in five-screen cinemas, 30 shows in six-screen multiplexes, 36 shows in seven-screen multiplexes, 42 shows in eight-screen multiplexes, 48 shows in nine-screen plexes and a whopping 54 shows in 10-screen theatres.

The trade expert remarked, “Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 is 2 hours and 48 minutes long. So, including interval and other aspects, cinemas will play each show in a slot of 3 hours and 10 minutes. It could be even more in certain multiplexes that start shows 10-15 minutes late. Hence, each screen can’t have more than 5 shows of Kantara. Some screens can accommodate 6 shows if the first show begins very early or if the last show is played around midnight. By this arrangement, most cinemas will have no choice but to only play Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 in all screens! Very few screens will be able to allot only a couple of shows to Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. Going by past experiences, it is clear that this won’t happen and the Dharma film will eventually get sufficient showcasing. However, the negotiations and talks might go up to October 1, that is, a day before the release, leading to headaches for the distributors as well as the exhibition community.”

Delhi HC backs Karisma Kapoor’s children, says no to Priya Kapur’s secrecy push

The Delhi High Court handed a significant win to Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, in the ongoing inheritance battle over late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s estate. The Court refused to accommodate Priya Kapur’s plea to impose a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) or confidentiality clause on the heirs before allowing them access to Sunjay’s Will and list of assets.

During the hearing the court orally said that it will not be passing an order for confidentiality club after the counsel agreed to not disclose contents of the list of assets as well as information regarding the case to the media.

Justice Jyoti Singh was unequivocal in her stance, observing that such a condition could deprive the children of their right to defend themselves. “If they are bound by confidentiality, how will they ever defend their case?” the judge asked in court.

By the end of the week, Priya — Sunjay’s second wife — had stepped back from her NDA push. Instead, she agreed to submit documents in a sealed cover, a judicial mechanism that prevents public disclosure while ensuring full access for family members. For Karisma’s kids, this means they can freely examine and contest the Will, which they have already denounced as “bogus.”

Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for Samaira and Kiaan, strongly criticised Priya’s position. “Two accounts have been wiped clean and 6% share appropriated. For me, there is nothing confidential. What is there to hide?” he argued before the bench.

The Court has now directed Priya Kapur to file a comprehensive inventory of Sunjay Kapur’s movable and immovable assets. These details are to be shared with Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, and his children — but kept out of the public domain. Importantly, the judge ruled out Priya’s bid to form a so-called “confidentiality club,” calling it an unfamiliar and inappropriate tool in Indian succession disputes.

The ruling strengthens the position of Karisma Kapoor’s children, who continue to question the authenticity of the Will and allege financial misappropriation by Priya. At its core, the decision underscores a broader principle: inheritance battles demand transparency, not secrecy. And in this high-profile family feud, the Delhi High Court has ensured that Karisma’s children will have their full say in the fight for their father’s legacy.

Jibraan Khan’s Bandra café manager accused of Rs 34 lakh fraud, FIR filed

Remember Jibraan Khan, who played Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s son in the iconic Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Jibraan has shifted from acting to entrepreneurship and owns a cafe in Mumbai's upscale Bandra area.

Recently, a troubling incident came to light involving financial irregularities at his Bandra-based café. As per a report by PTI, a complaint has been filed against a staff member of Khan's cafe for allegedly embezzling nearly Rs 34 lakh. A police official confirmed the development, revealing that the matter is now under investigation.

Khan had hired the accused, Ajay Singh Rawat, as the general manager in 2022. Last week, he noticed that supplier payments for the café were overdue. Following this discovery, Khan ordered a detailed audit of the business’s financial records, which uncovered that Rawat had misappropriated Rs 34 lakh. Consequently, Khan lodged an FIR against him.

The café, located in Bandra’s Bandstand area, operates under Khan’s ownership alongside co-owner Yuvika Wadhawan. Known for its vegan ice creams and cozy ambiance, the café has been a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.

On the work front, Jibraan Khan made his full-fledged Bollywood debut with Ishq Vishk Rebound, a sequel to Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao's cult classic Ishq Vishk. The film, also starring Rohit Saraf, Naila Grewal, and Hrithik Roshan's niece Pashmina Roshan, failed to create buzz and struggled at the box office despite its promising cast.

The police are actively investigating the café fraud case, and Rawat is currently absconding. Authorities have registered a case under Section 316(4) of the Indian Penal Code related to cheating, highlighting the importance of accountability in business operations.

John Abraham teams up with Meenakshi Chaudhary in Force 3: Report

According to a new report, Bollywood action star John Abraham is set to team up with Lucky Bhaskar actress Meenakshi Chaudhary in the highly anticipated Force 3. The development comes after industry speculation about the direction and casting for the next instalment in the Force franchise.

A source close to Pinkvilla revealed, “After auditioning several actresses, John Abraham and Bhav Dhulia have locked Meenakshi Chaudhary as the female lead. Like John, she too will have an action-oriented role and is expected to undergo intensive training over the next few months to prepare for the part.”

The report further stated, “Pre-production is progressing rapidly. John will shift his focus to Force 3 as soon as he wraps up shooting for the Rakesh Maria biopic directed by Rohit Shetty. That project is expected to conclude by the end of October, setting Force 3 up for a release in the first half of 2026.”

As of now, no public confirmation has come from John Abraham, Meenakshi Chaudhary, or the film’s producers. But if the report holds true, it promises a fresh pairing and a new energy to a franchise known for its high-octane action.

As expected, fans went crazy as soon as Shraddha appeared on stage. The event promised a lot of surprises and the first surprise came right in the beginning – the launch of the exciting logo of the horror comedy universe created by Maddock Films.

The logo of the MHCU, that is Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, was launched by Shraddha Kapoor in the presence of blockbuster producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, director Amar Kaushik of Stree, Stree 2 and Bhediya fame and writer Niren Bhatt. The logo is exciting and apt for the franchise. The ‘H’ in MHCU is mentioned in bloody red colour and adds to the effect.

The Ba***ds of Bollywood: Delhi High Court asks Sameer Wankhede to justify defamation plea against Netflix and Red Chillies

The Delhi High Court on Friday questioned former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankhede over the maintainability of his defamation plea against Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix. The officer had approached the court seeking a permanent and mandatory injunction, declaration, and damages for what he described as a “false, malicious and defamatory” portrayal in the web series The Ba***ds of Bollywood.

Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav asked Wankhede to establish how his plea was maintainable in Delhi and whether any cause of action had arisen in the national capital. According to the court’s observations, jurisdiction was a key issue in deciding the admissibility of the petition.

In response, Wankhede’s counsel, senior advocate Sandeep Sethi, argued that the series was available for streaming in Delhi and had been viewed by audiences in the city, thereby impacting his client’s reputation locally. The court, however, directed Wankhede to amend his plea to specifically demonstrate how a cause of action had arisen in Delhi.

Wankhede, who rose to national prominence for leading the investigation in the Aryan Khan drugs-on-cruise case, has sought Rs. 2 crore in damages. Interestingly, he has requested that the amount, if granted, be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for the treatment of cancer patients.

The plea alleged that the controversial series, reportedly produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and streamed on Netflix, was deliberately conceptualised and executed to malign Wankhede’s reputation. It further argued that the timing was prejudicial, given that related proceedings involving Wankhede and Aryan Khan are still pending before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.

According to Wankhede’s claims, the show includes a character making an obscene gesture — specifically showing the middle finger after uttering the slogan “Satyamev Jayate,” which forms part of India’s National Emblem. The plea described this act as a “grave violation” of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which could attract penal consequences under Indian law.

Additionally, the petition asserted that the web series violated provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) by promoting offensive, obscene content that not only harmed his reputation but also outraged national sentiment.

With the High Court instructing Sameer Wankhede to strengthen the jurisdictional basis of his plea, the next hearing is expected to determine whether the defamation suit can proceed in Delhi. Until then, the controversy surrounding The Ba***ds of Bollywood continues to brew, placing both Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment in the legal spotlight.

SHOCKING: Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 makers demand that single screen, 2-screen, 3-screen theatres should NOT share shows with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari; ask for 100% showcasing

Less than a week is left for the release of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. And this one is no unusual clash. As expected, fights over show sharing have begun in full force. But this time, exhibitors are left shocked with the demands put forward by the team of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1.

A trade source said, “AA Films, the distributors of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 have sent a mail to exhibitors, regarding their requirement of the shows. They have demanded that all shows in single-screens and 12 shows in two screen cinemas. The latter also amounts to all shows; they mention the same clearly in the mail to avoid any confusion. Shockingly, they have also asked for 18 shows in three-screen multiplexes, which, in other words, also amounts to each and every show. They are well aware that a film like Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is releasing alongside their flick. Yet, they have asked for such a showcasing.”

The source continued, “It’s common for distributors to demand 100% showcasing in single-screen and two-screens. But as far as we remember, this is a rare instance where a distributor has asked for all shows in a three-screen cinema.”

Many exhibitors have expressed reservations about this arrangement. An exhibitor, on condition of anonymity, told Bollywood Hungama, “I don’t agree with this unreasonable demand. We understand that Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 is a highly anticipated film. But then, even Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari also looks like a fun entertainer, which will attract family audiences and youth. Hence, I’d like to play that film as well. We hope the makers of Kantara understand our dilemma and find a solution.”

The mail from AA Films further states that they demand 21 shows of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 in four-screen theatres, 27 shows in five-screen cinemas, 30 shows in six-screen multiplexes, 36 shows in seven-screen multiplexes, 42 shows in eight-screen multiplexes, 48 shows in nine-screen plexes and a whopping 54 shows in 10-screen theatres.

Further, they have also asked for 100% shows in IMAX properties. This means that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle will end its glorious run in IMAX on October 1.

Ranvir Shorey shuts down claims of Salman Khan being vindictive: “He’s a very generous human being”

Salman Khan, one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, has often found himself at the centre of industry debates, but his colleagues and co-stars frequently vouch for his generosity both on and off screen. Recently, actor Ranvir Shorey, who shared screen space with Salman in Ek Tha Tiger and its sequel Tiger 3, spoke highly of the superstar, rejecting filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap’s claims that Salman and his family are “vindictive.”

In a candid interview, Shorey was asked about Kashyap’s past remarks, where the Dabangg director had accused the Khan family of being harmful to his career. Without mincing words, Shorey distanced himself from that opinion. “Ye woh unka koi personal grudge hoga, mera to kaafi accha hai. He’s very generous human being, generous co-actor. Unki family, Salim sahab ki mai bahot izzat karta hoon, unke jo dono bhai hai unko bhi mai bahot pasand karta hoon, they’re gentlemen. Main to nahi, unka koi personal hoga, aur, mai ye nahi keh raha hoon ki kisi ka kisi ke saath personal nahi hona chahiye, mera bhi kai logon ke saath personal hai, but mai ittefaq nahi rakhta (“That must be his personal grudge. My experience with Salman has been very good — he’s a generous human being, a generous co-actor. I deeply respect Salim saab, and I really like both his brothers as well — they’re gentlemen. Maybe Abhinav has a personal issue, and I’m not saying people can’t have personal differences. Even I have them with some people. But in this case, I don’t agree with him),” he explained.

By praising Salman’s generosity and integrity, Shorey not only refuted Kashyap’s allegations but also underlined the positive equation he personally shares with the Khan family. He made it clear that while personal conflicts are common in the industry, they do not define everyone’s experience.

Interestingly, Salman himself had once backed Abhinav Kashyap by giving him the directorial reins of Dabangg (2010), the film that catapulted Kashyap into fame and remains one of Bollywood’s most successful franchises. Despite that, the filmmaker has often spoken out against Salman, leaving many confused about his stance.

Shorey’s remarks, however, add another perspective to the conversation. For him, Salman is not just a superstar but also a “generous co-actor” who uplifts those around him. His comments echo what many insiders have long maintained — that Salman Khan’s reputation as someone who helps others quietly is as significant as his stardom.

With Shorey’s testimony, the debate around Salman’s industry image gains yet another layer, but for his co-stars, the verdict seems unanimous: generosity defines him more than anything else.

Sunny Leone to star in India’s FIRST AI feature film Kaur vs Kore in dual role

In a groundbreaking one-of-a-kind cinematic project, Paparazzi Entertainment Company introduces audiences to India’s first AI-driven feature film, Kaur vs Kore. Headlined by Sunny Leone, the film brings together a unique blend of futuristic storytelling and deep human emotions, with Sunny set to portray a dual role — one as a human superhero and the other as an AI-powered avatar.

Beyond being a virtual spectacle, Kaur vs Kore is a bold step into the future of cinema, marking a cultural and technological shift in how stories are created and experienced. Paparazzi Entertainment, which has previously built a strong portfolio of AI-generated music videos, advertisements, and short films, now sets its sights on redefining Indian cinema with this ambitious full-length feature film.

Sunny Leone, speaking about the project, shared: “Eight years ago we created a character called Kore and shot a short promo using VFX. We realized after creating it we were in little ahead of time for this character to be accepted. The technology was not where it is today, which makes me so excited to create India’s first full AI superhero film. India is always on the forefront of technology and to be a part of creating this film from the ground up is a very proud moment. Cinema is leveling up and in a big way. We are so excited to take technology not only to Indian cinema but to hopefully the world being the leaders in AI tech.”

Producer Ajinkya Jadhav, founder of Paparazzi Entertainment Company, expressed: “Sunny Leone’s role in Kaur vs Kore as a superhero in dual avatars blends tradition and futurism — it’s a statement of reinvention, strength, and global appeal. This film is not only breaking new ground for us but also for Indian cinema at large. By creating India’s first full-length AI feature film with a renowned actress, we are opening doors for others and placing India firmly on the global map of AI-led cinema.”

Director and Creator Vinil Vasu added: “Kaur vs Kore is not just a film, it’s a cinematic experiment that pushes boundaries. For me, the goal was to prove that AI can be used responsibly to create emotions, drama, and scale that rivals global cinema. This project shows the world that Indian filmmakers are unafraid to innovate and that India can lead the AI cinema movement.” With the power of AI, the film integrates photorealistic visuals, advanced world-building, de-aging technology, and dynamic action sequences — all while maintaining an emotional narrative that resonates deeply with Indian audiences.

Salman Khan recalls 7.5-year battle with “Suicide Disease” Trigeminal Neuralgia: “Took 750 mg of painkillers, underwent Gamma Knife surgery for nearly 8 hours”

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan made an emotional revelation on Prime Video’s chat show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, where he appeared alongside Aamir Khan. During the candid conversation, the 59-year-old actor spoke about his long struggle with trigeminal neuralgia, a condition often called the "suicide disease" due to the unbearable pain it inflicts. The disclosure moved Kajol to tears.

Recalling the ordeal, Salman said, "You have to learn to live with it. Many individuals are coping with bypass surgeries, heart issues, and more. When I experienced trigeminal neuralgia, the pain was... You wouldn't wish that on your worst enemy. I endured it for seven-and-a-half years. The pain would strike every 4-5 minutes. It would come on suddenly, even while I was speaking."

The actor revealed that even simple meals became a challenge: “It would take me about an hour and a half to finish my breakfast, and I would go straight to dinner. For an omelet, since I couldn't chew it, I had to push through the pain, endure it, just to finish my meal.”

Initially, many believed his issue was dental-related. Salman shared, “I was taking around 750 mg of painkillers, and even that didn't provide relief. They thought it was a dental issue. I was asked when the pain would subside. I replied that it would lessen a bit after having a drink or two, but it would return at longer intervals. That’s when they realized it was a nerve problem.”

The actor traced the first instance back to the filming of Partner (2007). “Lara was there. She brushed a strand of hair from my face, and I felt a jolt of pain. I joked, ‘Wow Lara, you're electrifying!’ That was the moment it began,” he recounted.

Speaking about treatment, Salman highlighted how the condition drives many patients to despair: “The highest rate of suicides is among those suffering from this disease. Many people are unaware of it. I chose to speak out because numerous individuals are affected. Nowadays, it is quite treatable. There’s a procedure called Gamma Knife Surgery where they attach screws to your face for nearly 8 hours. I went through this surgery. When I emerged, they informed me that my pain would decrease by 20-30%. But, by the grace of God, it completely vanished.”

Salman had first revealed his diagnosis in 2017 during promotions of his film Tubelight in Dubai. Trigeminal neuralgia affects the trigeminal nerve, causing severe facial pain that can be triggered by everyday activities like chewing or brushing teeth.

In a separate disclosure earlier this year on The Great Indian Kapil Show season 3, Salman also revealed that he has a brain aneurysm and an arteriovenous malformation (AVM)—serious conditions that require careful monitoring. A brain aneurysm is a bulge in a weakened blood vessel that can lead to a life-threatening hemorrhagic stroke if ruptured.

Bigg Boss 19 lands in legal trouble over unauthorised use of ‘Chikni Chameli’ and ‘Dhat Teri Ki’, PPL demands Rs 2 crores: Report

The Salman Khan-hosted reality show Bigg Boss is known for fuelling controversies inside the house. This time, however, the storm has hit its makers. Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL), India’s oldest copyright licensing organisation, has issued a legal notice to the producers of the show, alleging unauthorised use of copyrighted music.

According to the notice, which is in Mid-Day’s possession, the ongoing 19th season of Bigg Boss featured the songs ‘Chikni Chameli’ from Agneepath (2012) and ‘Dhat Teri Ki’ from Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013) in episode 11 that streamed on September 3, 2025. PPL India claims the producers used the tracks without securing a mandatory public performance licence.

The notice, dated September 19, was served by advocate Hiten Ajay Wasan on behalf of PPL. It names Endemol Shine India, the production house behind Bigg Boss, along with its directors Thomas Gousset, Nicolas Chazarain, and Deepak Dhar, as responsible parties.

A source from the legal team told Mid-Day that both songs are licensed to Sony Music Entertainment India, one of over 450 music labels whose public performance rights are exclusively managed by PPL. The organisation argues that because Endemol Shine India did not obtain the necessary licence under Section 30 of the Copyright Act, 1957, the act constitutes “wilful infringement.”

In the notice, PPL has demanded damages worth ₹2 crore, along with the requisite licence fees. The organisation has also issued a cease-and-desist order, barring the producers from using its sound recordings without proper authorisation.

The development adds another layer of drama to the long-running reality series, which is currently in its 19th season. The show or its makers are yet to respond publicly to the legal claims.

Alia Bhatt faces backlash for calling Alpha her ‘first action film’; netizens question if she ‘forgot’ Jigra

Actor Alia Bhatt is stepping into the YRF Spy Universe as a super agent in the female-led film Alpha, which she recently described as her “first action film.” The remark has quickly stirred chatter online, with many fans pointing out her earlier action-packed role in Jigra.

On Tuesday, Alia turned heads at the Gucci Spring/Summer 2026 Fashion Show during Milan Fashion Week 2025, where she attended as the luxury brand’s global ambassador. Dressed in a striking chevron-patterned shearling long coat layered over a lace and satin slip dress, she made a bold fashion statement. It was here that Alia, speaking on the sidelines of the show, called Alpha her “first venture into action,” a comment that has since triggered debate and confusion across social media.

The actor expressed her excitement about the project, hinting at the thrill that the audiences can expect from her role. She said, “Wow, it’s pretty close. That’s a big one for me because it’s my first venture into action and I’m really curious to see how the audience connects with that.”

Her remark immediately caught fire on social media, with many users pointing out that Alia has already performed action sequences in films like Jigra and Heart of Stone. On Reddit, one user stated:

“So, Alia Bhatt doesn’t consider Jigra and Heart of Stone as action films. Alpha is releasing this December.”  Other comments were sharper: “It was an Action film, alia. And both tanked bad,” read one post, while another said, “Alia has deleted Shaandar, Sadak, Kalank, Jigra and Heart of Stone from her filmography.”

Fans and critics engaged in spirited debate. Some argued that Jigra had minimal action elements, writing, “Jigra was not an action film though. It hardly had one action block. Alpha would probably be the first full action film.” Others countered that if just one or two action sequences qualify a film in that genre, many older Indian romantic films would also fit the label.

Alpha marks Alia’s entry into YRF’s Spy Universe and is directed by Shiv Rawail, co-starring Sharvari and Bobby Deol. In addition to Alpha, Alia is also working on Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal set to star.

HAQ to release on Nov 7, 2025: Yami Gautam Dhar portrays fierce "Indian Muslim woman" seeking justice in teaser, Emraan Hashmi plays celebrated lawyer

Produced by Junglee Pictures, in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, HAQ is a searing and intense drama inspired by the landmark judgement of the Supreme Court on Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum case. Sparking a debate between Personal Law v/s Secular Law, HAQ is directed by Suparn S Varma and will see Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi in their most powerful and layered roles yet.

HAQ is a fictionalized and dramatized version of events stated in the book titled ‘Bano: Bharat ki Beti’ written by Jigna Vora, and revisits one of the most controversial cases in the India of the 80s — the conversation that started more than 4 decades back remains urgent and relevant in our society even today - shouldn't the opportunity of justice be equal for all? Is it time for one nation, one law? Where do we draw the line between personal belief and secular law? Should there be a Uniform Civil Code (UCC)?

Junglee Pictures has built its legacy on stories that defy convention and dare to challenge societal norms. Each of its films embodies fearlessness. The studio behind acclaimed films like Raazi, Talvar and Badhaai Do is back with yet another endearing and high-concept drama that promises to captivate theatre-going audiences. Meanwhile, for Yami Gautam, HAQ marks her next in theatres, after she lit up the screen with her electrifying performance in Article 370. In HAQ, she portrays an inspiring Muslim woman who refuses to be silenced.

Wronged and abandoned, she fights a system stacked up against her. She is unafraid to go to court demanding her HAQ for herself and her children under section 125. Coming together for the first time, Yami Gautam Dhar and Emraan Hashmi deliver a compelling story, with Hashmi playing the role of a razor-sharp and celebrated lawyer and Yami leading a battle that dares society to pick a side.

Haq begins as a love story, and seemingly a private dispute between a husband and wife shifts to a rousing debate on a provocative topic that begs a solution even today - a courtroom battle spotlighting greater questions of faith, identity, liberalism, personal belief and eventually policy and law - the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) under article 44.

A mother’s raw, uncompromising courage is the soul of HAQ. Gripping and unpredictable, Haq is loaded with relentless twists, emotions, and drama.

Haq is set to release in theatres on 7th November 2025, directed by one of the most dynamic directors today in the industry Suparn S Varma ( creator of Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, The Family Man, Rana Naidu), and written by Reshu Nath. Strengthening the talent roster of HAQ are actors par excellence Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Hussain, and Aseem Hattangady.

The teaser of the film is out now!

BREAKING: Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in process of acquiring remake rights of Odia industry’s HIGHEST grosser Bou Bhuttu Bhuta

After remaking Marathi, Gujarati and films of Southern industries, Bollywood has now set its eyes on the rising Odia industry. It has come to light that the sale of remake rights of the Odia film Bou Buttu Bhuta is in process. Further, the rights are being acquired by none other than Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

As per a notice published in Komal Nahta’s Film Information magazine by Rakhee Bajpai Tiwari, Chief Legal Officer, Dharma Productions Private Limited, the company has officially announced that it is in the process of acquiring the remake rights of the popular Odia film Bou Buttu Bhuta (2025), starring Babushaan Mohanty, Archita Sahu, and Aparajita Mohanty. According to the public notice, the acquisition covers remake rights in all Indian languages and world languages, along with derivative rights. This includes the ability to develop, produce, distribute, and exploit remakes across all mediums and platforms. The rights also extend to dubbing and subtitling the film in all languages globally, in perpetuity.

The notice further states that Babushaan Films Private Limited, which holds the rights to the original film, is the sole and lawful owner of all intellectual property related to the movie and that the rights are free from any encumbrances or third-party claims. Interested parties, if any, have been asked to make their claims within 15 days of the notice to avoid waiving any rights.

Bou Buttu Bhuta released earlier this year, on June 12, and has emerged as the highest Odia grosser of all time despite competition from films like Housefull 5 and Sitaare Zameen Par. It opened with an opening of just Rs. 40 lakhs approx. and then went on to earn Rs. 1.25 crores on its fourth day, that is, Sunday. On the fifth day, it collected a huge Rs. 1.05 crores despite it being a working Monday. The lifetime earnings are said to be around Rs. 14-15 crores, which is double the total collections of the second-highest Odia grosser, Daman (2022); it collected around Rs. 7.50 crores in its lifetime.

Bou Buttu Bhuta is a horror-thriller-comedy and tells the story of a fish-farmer who goes out of the village for work. While returning home, he gets possessed by a ghost, which results in madness in the village, particularly for his sorceress mother and his love interest.

The decision to acquire Bou Bhuttu Bhuta aligns with Karan Johar-led Dharma Productions’ strategy of diversifying its portfolio beyond Hindi-language originals and tapping into narratives that can be reimagined for a larger market. The remake could potentially feature a leading Bollywood cast and a fresh directorial vision, giving the Odia hit a national spotlight.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has filed complaint to the Mumbai Police against the Netflix show The Ba***ds of Bollywood, which shows actor Ranbir Kapoor using the banned e-cigarette on screen without any statutory warning or disclaimer, as per the news agency ANI.

The agency also reported that the NHRC has also written to the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, urging the ministry to take appropriate action to restrict such content. The Commission expressed concern that such portrayals, if left unregulated, could influence young audiences.

The NHRC also addressed a letter to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, recommending the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Ranbir Kapoor, the show's producers, the production company, and streaming platform Netflix. The complaint cited an alleged violation of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019, which bans the promotion, use, and display of e-cigarettes in India.

While no formal charges have been confirmed yet, the request for an FIR has prompted discussions around content guidelines and compliance on OTT platforms. The NHRC emphasized the importance of responsible content, especially when it involves potentially harmful products or behaviour.

Supreme Court rejects Jacqueline Fernandez’s plea in Rs 200 crores fraud case

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by actress Jacqueline Fernandez in connection with the Rs 200 crores fraud case linked to conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, refusing to grant her any relief. Jacqueline had approached the apex court challenging the Delhi High Court’s July 3 order, which had rejected her plea to quash the FIR lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case.

Jacqueline’s Plea In her petition, the actress reportedly argued that she is a victim of Sukesh’s targeted attack. The plea mentioned that the ED itself admitted Tihar jail officials had given Sukesh access to mobile phones and other electronic devices, which he allegedly used to cheat not only the complainant but also several members of the film industry, including Fernandez.

Jacqueline also highlighted that she is a prosecution witness in the predicate offence and argued that further proceedings against her should therefore be quashed.

The Delhi High Court, however, had earlier ruled that questions about Jacqueline’s intent and knowledge of the alleged crime can only be determined during trial. The actress, best known for films like Murder 2 and Kick, has consistently maintained that the charges are false and that she was unaware of Sukesh’s criminal background. ED’s Allegations Against Jacqueline According to the ED, Jacqueline allegedly received luxury gifts worth around Rs 7 crores from Sukesh. The agency maintains that these gifts were part of the proceeds of crime generated through the Rs 200 crores fraud.

Sukesh Chandrasekhar is accused of cheating Shivinder Singh and Malvinder Singh, the spouses of former Ranbaxy promoters, of Rs 200 crores. He is also accused of conning multiple high-profile individuals while in Tihar jail.

With the Supreme Court’s dismissal of her petition, Jacqueline will now have to face trial in the money laundering case, where questions of intent and knowledge will be examined in detail.

EXCLUSIVE: Om Raut opens up on surviving Adipurush backlash - “It emotionally breaks you, more than you, it breaks your family”

Director Om Raut has finally spoken about the aftermath of Adipurush and how the entire team became victims of social media trolling. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, the filmmaker admitted that the phase was extremely tough and took an emotional toll on him and those around him.

“I don’t think, to be honest, I can have any advice. It is an extremely tough place to be in. You don’t do anything wrong intentionally. Mistakes happen. As I have always said success teaches you a lot but failure teaches you even more. So, the only way you can come out of it is to learn from those mistakes and make sure and pray that they don’t happen again. That’s the only ray of hope you can have,” he shared.

Raut further described the intensity of the trolling, saying, “The way to survive that – And I use the word ‘survive’ carefully because it puts you down, it throws you down at the deep end. It emotionally breaks you and more than you, it breaks your family, your team members, everybody around you. Yes, there is loss of confidence and you will have to work over it. The only way you can answer these things is by doing good work. That’s the only way out. But if you are asking me ‘how does one survive?’. I am not sure how I survived. May be it was because of the support I had from my family, friends, my close team members who are still here.”

Looking ahead, the director acknowledged that the only way to win back audiences is to rebuild trust through stronger projects. “Having said, the only way to tackle it is by doing something nice and better that will make people forgive you,” he added.

Adipurush was mounted as a magnum opus, featuring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan in key roles, and retold the epic saga of Ramayana. Despite its grandeur, the film fell short of box office expectations and was relentlessly trolled online for its dialogues, VFX, and execution. Meanwhile, Raut is currently basking in the love he has been receiving for Inspector Zende starring Manoj Bajpayee that recently dropped on Netflix on September 5.

It is worth mentioning here that Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report the release date of the film to be February 27, 2026, which is now confirmed by the studio itself.

The film, produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Abhiraj Minawala, was officially announced in December 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the franchise. The first two installments, Mardaani (2014) and Mardaani 2 (2019), won acclaim for their fearless storytelling, with Rani Mukerji’s portrayal of Shivani Roy being celebrated as one of her most impactful performances.

With Mardaani 3, expectations are high as Shivani faces what is being described as the “most challenging case of her career.” The symbolic timing of the announcement on Navratri has also resonated with fans, echoing the essence of the franchise — a relentless pursuit of justice and the courage to confront darkness head-on.

Priyadarshan confirms Mohanlal’s cameo alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in Haiwaan

Director Priyadarshan is presently helming his next film, Haiwaan, featuring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles. In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, he revealed that Mohanlal will also be making a special cameo in the movie.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, director Priyadarshan was asked if he had plans to make a film starring both Mohanlal and Akshay Kumar. He clarified that he doesn’t make movies just to cast specific actors, but did confirm that Lalettan will have a cameo in Haiwaan.

He stated, “If you’re asking about Haiwaan, Mohanlal is there in that film. However, what character he plays, I don’t want to say right now. See, every time I make a movie, it is the story that excites me. I never think about actors.”

Priyadarshan further explained, “First is always the script, then the actors follow. I can’t say, ‘I’ll make a film with Mohanlal and Akshay Kumar together.’ You will never get a script then. Whenever you get a script, then go behind the right cast, that’s the right way of making films. I have never chased a star to make a film,”

The announcement has sparked excitement among fans, who are eager to see the trio of Priyadarshan, Akshay Kumar, and Saif Ali Khan work together on screen. With Mohanlal making a cameo, anticipation for Haiwaan continues to build, making it one of the most-awaited releases in the coming months.

The Ba***ds Of Bollywood trends at number 1 on Netflix: Lakshya calls the love for Aasman "unreal”; Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, and others REACT!

As Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, launched on Netflix to unprecedented buzz, all eyes were on the audacious world he created and the characters within it. Beyond the cameos and the meta humour, Ajay Talvar, played by Bobby Deol, and the four young actors, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Raghav Juyal, and Anya Singh, have quickly become the names everyone is talking about. Trending at #1 on Netflix within hours of the series drop, their phones haven’t stopped buzzing, with social media being flooded with fan edits and hype.

Bobby Deol shares, “It’s wonderful to watch the industry I’ve been a part of for 30 years and my loving fans embrace the show as well as my character, Ajay Talvar. Aryan has captured the true spirit of cinema in a fun, quirky, and emotional way. The whole cast and team are on the receiving end of an outpouring of love from all corners of the world, and I’m truly feeling blessed.”

For Lakshya, who shoulders the show as Aasmaan Singh, it’s been nothing short of surreal. “Since the release, it’s been an avalanche of love from calls to messages, with people reaching out from everywhere. It feels unreal. To have people connect with Aasmaan’s journey- whether it’s the action, the chaos, or the vulnerability- makes every bit of hard work and the journey to get here worth it,” he added, still processing the whirlwind.

Sahher Bambba, playing Karishma Talvar, has been winning hearts. “Karishma is a mix of sparkle and pizzazz, and for me, this role has truly been a dream opportunity. The response has been overwhelming — people have written to me saying they love my performance, and as a newcomer, to receive so much warmth and appreciation for the grace I’ve brought to the character feels incredible. I’m honestly just deeply grateful.” Sahher shares.

And then there’s Raghav Juyal, who has taken the internet by storm, quickly emerging as the ultimate showstopper, with fans declaring ‘Puri show ek taraf aur Raghav bhai ek taraf,’ signalling Parvaiz’s on-screen moment with Emraan Hashmi. "Every other message I get says, ‘Parvaiz is the best friend we all wish we had.’ People are calling him the funniest part of the show, and the memes just keep coming. To also have my on-screen moment with Mr Hashmi be celebrated like it's being, has been especially joyous,” he laughs.

Anya Singh as Sanya, the sharp, ambitious manager, has been praised for grounding the show. “I have enjoyed playing Sanya, crafted so effectively by Aryan. The fact that the fans are seeing the inner workings of an industry they love through my character and enjoying her hustler and go-getter energy is quite sensational. Honestly, the love and messages feel too surreal,” Anya reflects.

If Aryan Khan’s debut has been about shaking up Bollywood with a bold new voice, this cast has been the force bringing his vision alive. They have turned the show into more than just a cheeky take on Bollywood- they’ve made it personal, lovable, and unforgettable. With fan edits trending, phones blowing up, and newfound stardom settling in, the cast, through their characters, have cemented what we’ve known all along - they are the Ba***ds of Bollywood, truly.

CONFIRMED! Vetrimaaran-Anurag Kashyap's Bad Girl to release in Hindi on September 26, 2025

After touring festivals, collecting acclaim and awards, Bad Girl is coming home again. The pathbreaking Tamil feature—presented by Vetrimaaran and Anurag Kashyap—is now all set for its Hindi theatrical release on September 26. Bollywood Hungama was the first one to break the news exclusively about the Hindi release of this much-loved film.

Helmed by Varsha Bharath in her glorious feature directorial debut, the coming-of-age film is headlined by actor Anjali Sivaraman, playing a teenage girl navigating love and lust in Chennai. After opening in Tamil Nadu earlier this month, the makers of Bad Girl will now release the film in Hindi due to growing audience demands.

Anurag Kashyap, who has come on board as a presenter, says Bad Girl is "one of the most original stories" he has encountered. "When I first read it, it reminded me of how, as a young filmmaker, I wanted to tell bold stories, and Varsha has gone beyond all my expectations and made an excellent film out of it. She’s a voice to watch out for, and we’re happy to release the film in Hindi, as we know that it’s a story that will relate to every girl growing up in the country."

Backed by Vetrimaaran's Grass Root Film Company, with Ranjan Singh as the Executive Producer, Bad Girl also stars Shanthipriya. The movie will be distributed by Flip Films.

Varsha says the film was born out of a need to tell a story that felt honest to the world she sees around her— "one where women are constantly defined, confined, and judged."

"Through the film, I wanted to question the very idea of labels and how easily they are used to diminish women. For me, directing this as my debut has been both liberating and daunting, but the journey has been worth every step. I’m thrilled that the film will now speak to Hindi audiences, and I hope it connects with them in unexpected ways. Having Anurag Kashyap and Vetri Maaran back the film is a rare privilege, their faith reminds me why it is important to take risks and stay true to one’s vision."

For Anjali Sivaraman, previously seen on Netflix's Class, being a part of Bad Girl was one of the most "challenging and rewarding experiences" of her career.

"The role pushed me to confront a lot of questions about identity, freedom, and the judgments women face every day. It’s not often that you get to inhabit a character who is unapologetically herself, even when the world refuses to accept her. I’m truly excited that the film will now reach Hindi audiences - I believe its themes are universal, and I hope viewers see a bit of themselves in her journey."

With music composed by Amit Trivedi, Bad Girl debuted with unprecedented acclaim at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam, winning the prestigious NETPAC award.

Backed by Vetri Maaran's Grass Root Film Company, the coming-of-age drama is directed by Varsha Bharath and features a career-defining performance by actor Anjali Sivaraman as Ramya, a teenage girl navigating love and lust in Chennai.

After opening in Tamil Nadu earlier this month, the makers of Bad Girl are locking a Hindi release date and have roped in Anuparna Roy for a grand launch event in Mumbai where Anurag Kashyap will also be in attendance.

A source told us, “Anuparna saw the film and was bowled over by what Varsha and the team pulled off. The film tells a story of a female coming of age with a distinct visual grammar and uniquely fierce Indian storytelling. The makers plan to host an event where the powerhouse female talent of the film, along with Anuparna, will be under one roof. It's a glorious union of some of the sharpest, bravest female voices of the industry.”

Also starring Shanthipriya and with music composed by Amit Trivedi, Bad Girl debuted with unprecedented acclaim at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam, winning the prestigious NETPAC award.

The Hindi version is expected to broaden the film’s reach, bringing Ramya’s story to a new audience. With Anuparna Roy’s endorsement and Anurag Kashyap’s support, the Mumbai launch is shaping up to be a significant cultural moment. The team is hopeful that the film’s themes of identity and desire will resonate strongly and meaningfully with viewers across India and beyond.

Not much information is available on the accident and the nature of the injury. Meanwhile, the team of the actor released a statement that read, “NTR sustained a minor injury today while shooting for an advertisement. On medical advice, he will be resting for the next couple of weeks to ensure a complete recovery. We would like to assure everyone that his condition is stable and there is no cause for concern. Jr NTR was last seen in War 2, which was released last month. It co-starred Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani and was a part of the Yash Raj Films (YRF) Spy Universe. It was directed by Ayan Mukerji. At a grand pre-release event, which was also held in Hyderabad, Jr NTR spoke highly of Hrithik. He said, “When I saw Hrithik in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000), I went mad. Hera Pheri Row: Producer Firoz Nadiadwala slaps Netflix with legal notice over Baburao’s character

The Hera Pheri franchise has landed in the middle of a legal storm. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala has reportedly issued a legal notice to streaming giant Netflix, accusing it of the unauthorised use of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, the much-loved character immortalised by Paresh Rawal.

Advocate Sana Raees Khan, who is representing Nadiadwala, released a sharp statement underscoring the gravity of the alleged infringement. She remarked, “Intellectual Property is not a matter of casual borrowing, it is the lifeblood of creativity. Unauthorised exploitation of my client’s iconic character is not just infringement, it is theft in its most blatant commercial form. The law will not permit dilution of rights that have been lawfully earned and zealously protected.”

While Nadiadwala himself has not issued an official comment, the move signals his intent to safeguard the legacy of the cult comedy series. Actor Paresh Rawal brought Baburao to life in Hera Pheri (2000), directed by Priyadarshan, and later in Phir Hera Pheri (2006), helmed by the late Neeraj Vora. Alongside Rawal, Akshay Kumar as Raju and Suniel Shetty as Shyam formed the iconic trio that turned the films into enduring blockbusters.

The same trio is set to return for Hera Pheri 3, with Priyadarshan once again directing. Nadiadwala’s legal step, therefore, reflects a larger concern about preserving the brand value of characters who hold immense cultural significance in Indian cinema.

The issue also highlights how disputes around intellectual property and personality rights have become increasingly common in Bollywood. Earlier this year, actor Abhishek Bachchan approached the Delhi High Court, seeking to restrain unauthorised use of his name, image, voice, and performances. During a brief hearing, Justice Tejas Karia observed that search engines could be directed to take down infringing links if specific URLs were provided.

Cases like these underline a growing awareness in the entertainment industry about protecting creative and personal rights in an era of rapid digital proliferation.
