Dharma Productions is back with a brand new comedy film titled Bad Newz, aiming to recapture the box office magic of their 2019 hit Good Newwz. The film boasts a star-studded cast, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk. This trio promises a dynamic and hilarious on-screen chemistry. And the trailer will be out this Friday.

On Tuesday, Karan Johar unveiled three solo posters of the actors and wrote, “Meet the trio-uble makers bringing the #BadNewz this season!” Describing the characters, he added that Vicky Kaushal plays, “Akhil Chadha...sab toh vadda!” This is followed by Triptii, who essays the role of “Saloni, who is ready to take the test!?” and Ammy plays, “Gurbir paaji - rola pai gaya ji!”

Details surrounding the exact plot are still under wraps, but reports suggest the film might explore the rare phenomenon of heteropaternal superfecundation, where twins are conceived from different fathers.

Karan Johar reveals the reason behind giving Koffee With Karan a skip in 2024; calls Season 8 rapid fire a ‘snooze alert’

Karan Johar, who is known for his quirky jibes and witty one-liners did not receive a great feedback when it came to his show Koffee With Karan Season 8 which released in 2023. The filmmaker-host’s show is known for its fun conversations where actors spill the beans on their personal and professional lives, making some intriguing revelations. However, the year of 2024 will not mark the return of the show, asserted KJo, who also promised that he is definitely looking at releasing Season 9 next year.

In an interview with Sucharita, Karan Johar discussed what went wrong with Season 8 of Koffee With Karan and revealed how a fun and peppy round like the Rapid Fire had become so boring that he didn’t want to give out the prize (coffee hamper) to anyone. “In the history of Koffee with Karan, it was the most boring rapid fire. It was so boring that I was like snooze alert. I’m like why am I even doing this? You’re not giving me questions. Should we just drop the rapid fire? Main hi hamper ghar le jaata hoon because no one really deserves to win it,” said Karan.

He further stated about Season 9 being on the cards and shared, “Let’s change the world of Koffee with Karan. Let season 9 be all the fun, all the chattiness and all the candour but let’s do it in a way that is not putting the celebrities in an awkward, touchy space. People are scared to open up, they don’t say anything the way they used to. You can’t ask them which is an overrated film or an overrated performance. Nobody is going to give it to you.”

“So I took 2024 off. It’s going to be back 2025. Somewhere around the second half of 2025, we want to come back with a new syntax,” he concluded.

Sreeleela to make Bollywood debut with Varun Dhawan–David Dhawan’s comic caper; Mrunal Thakur also a part of it: Report

Varun Dhawan and his filmmaker father David Dhawan are back for another round of laughter! After the success of Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2, the father-son duo is gearing up for their third theatrical collaboration, an untitled comedy film slated to begin shooting in July 2024. This exciting project boasts an original script and promises to be a hilarious entertainer, keeping true to David Dhawan's signature style. Now, it has been learnt that South Indian actress Sreeleela will be making her Hindi film debut as Varun Dhawan's love interest.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Sreeleela's casting adds a fresh element to the film. “Much like all David Dhawan comedies, this one is also a love triangle where the humour is a result of confusion in the leading man's life,” a source close to the development revealed.

David Dhawan has reportedly crafted a high-on-entertainment role to launch Sreeleela in the Hindi film industry. However, Sreeleela isn't the only leading lady. Mrunal Thakur is also on board to play another love interest opposite Varun Dhawan. “Varun will be romancing both Mrunal and Sreeleela in the film,” the source confirmed.

Produced by Ramesh Taurani under the TIPS Entertainment banner, the film boasts an impressive cast including Maniesh Paul, marking a reunion for Paul and Varun after Jugjugg Jeeyo.

Filming for the untitled comedy is expected to commence by mid-July 2024. "Sun Pictures will be producing the film and they share a family-like bond with superstar Rajinikanth. Atlee on the other hand has been in touch with Salman Khan for the last two years. They are confident to get both Rajinikanth and Salman Khan on board," a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

The film in question is yet to get a title but the makers want to take it on floors by the end of 2024. "Salman Khan aims to start Atlee film after wrapping up Sikandar. Superstar Rajinikanth on the other hand will take this up after Coolie. It is a combination to be remembered for generations'" the trade source further told us.

Atlee last directed Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan and is now planning to take the stakes even higher with Salman and Rajinikanth.

“And Bigg Boss, what has happened to you? Kya itne bure din chal rahe hai apke that you find polygamy entertaining? What were you thinking when you introduced such contestants? Devoleena continued, “This is why the Special Marriage Act and UCC (Uniform Civil Code) should be mandatory. So that the law is the same for everyone and society can be free from such filth. A second wife while having a first wife. Imagine if in the name of equality, wives started having 2-2 husbands, would you still be entertained.”

This resulted in Ishita accusing Unnati of having a connection outside the show and as Nayera jumped in to confirm Ishita’s claims, a baffled Unnati decided to target the latter. She pointed out that Nayera and Arbaz’s relationship is also fake, further making a discriminatory remark about their faith which led to Sunny Leone reacting strongly against her statement.

Sunny Leone delivered a powerful message wherein she issued a warning to throw them out of the show in case of such incidents. She angrily stated, “MTV stands for equal treatment for everyone, it does not discriminate against religion, creed, sex or anything that has to do with things that are incorrect. EXCLUSIVE: Vashu Bhagnani sells Pooja Entertainment’s seven-floor office to pay off Rs. 250 cr. debt; lays off 80% of employees following consecutive box office failures

Nearly four decades since its inception and several highs and lows later, Vashu Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment is reeling from a major financial setback. The production banner, known for making blockbuster entertaining movies like Coolie No.1, Biwi No.1, and Hero No.1, among others, is downsizing its operations following consecutive box office failures, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt.

According to trade sources familiar with the development, Vashu Bhagnani has sold his seven-floor office of Pooja Entertainment to a builder. The identity of the builder who purchased the land and the amount it sold for is not disclosed yet, but they will apparently now demolish the building to create a luxurious residential project on the plot.

Vashu has also sacked almost 80% of employees and shifted the office base to a two-bedroom flat in Juhu, the sources have revealed. The layoffs began in January 2024 after Jagan Shakti’s film starring Tiger Shroff was shelved following a two-year struggle to take it on floors. The workforce was further reduced in April, specifically after the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. This development comes on the heels of the disastrous box office failure of BMCM, which barely earned Rs. 59.17 crores at the box office against the investment of Rs. 350 crores, resulting in losses of at least Rs. 125-150 crores for the production banner. Sources say Vashu has sold the building to pay off debts to multiple financiers, amounting to approximately Rs. 250 crores.

“It all started with Bell Bottom, which was one of the first Hindi movie to be released in theatres post the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. The film flopped badly at the box office and so did the next one, Mission Raniganj. The company faced another setback when the big-budget Ganapath failed to perform and was even rejected by Netflix despite an acquisition deal. Red flags had already begun to appear in the company's financial sheet by this point, and the enormous investment in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan made matters worse. Even still, the firm held out hope that the action entertainer starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff would turn around its financial situation. However, the historic failure of this Ali Abbas Zafar directorial almost crippled the company. Vashu had no choice but to sell the building to pay off the enormous debt,” a source familiar with the development told Bollywood Hungama.

Despite these challenges, sources claim that Pooja Entertainment is not folding. Vashu and his son Jackky Bhagnani are determined to reboot operations and have already started discussions with actors and directors for a fresh slate of movies. In contrast to rumours, they are going ahead with Shahid Kapoor’s Ashwatthama project that they announced just a few months back.

Pooja Entertainment was established in 1986 and has produced around 40 movies to date. The big successes include their films with David Dhawan, such as Coolie No.1, Hero No.1, Biwi No.1, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and highly appreciated movies such as Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Om Jai Jagadish, among others. The success ratio of the company, however, is outperformed by its big box office failures such as Himmatwala (2013), Humshakals (2014), Bell Bottom, Mission Raniganj, Ganapath, and the recent Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

Gopichand Malineni opens up about directing Sunny Deol; says, “I wrote the script knowing it’ll be perfect for someone like Sunny”

Taking his stardom to the next level, Sunny Deol signed a rather interesting deal this week. The actor will be making his big Telugu debut with the untitled film, which will be directed by Gopichand Malineni. The film, which is currently being referred to as SDGM, was announced earlier this week with the shooting commencing this month and will have Saiyami Kher as the leading lady as well as Regina Cassandra in a key role.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Gopichand Malineni revealed that the script was written for someone like Sunny Deol. Speaking of whether he is nervous or excited about directing Deol, Malineni said, “More than nervous about my Bollywood debut, I feel confident that it’ll be a good film. I wrote the script knowing it’ll be perfect for someone like Sunny. Luckily, Mythri Movie Makers also agreed and helped me approach him. To my surprise, Sunny said yes immediately because he liked it so much.”

Gopichand asserts that the film is not a remake

He refrained from revealing too many details about the film.  “I wish I could reveal much, but I can’t yet. Let’s just say the film has a particular plot point that sets it apart. It’s not just about the mass elements my films usually have; it’s going to be a racy script with a touch of realism,” he shared. “He’s a big action hero, I’m a mass director and we have the perfect script. And let’s be clear, it’s not a remake,” added the director.

Gopichand also discusses about their works and what they like about each other

The filmmaker revealed about the Gadar actor’s love for his 2021 film starring Ravi Teja and Shruti Haasan as he mentioned, “Sunny has seen Krack, he liked it.” Meanwhile, Malineni has a list of films which are his favourites and he stated, “Me on the other hand, I think I’ve seen all his films. My favourites are Ghayal, Damini, Gadar, Border.”

Pooja Entertainment employee calls out Jackky Bhagnani and Vashu Bhagnani’s company over non-payment of dues; calls it, “unprofessional, unethical behaviour”

Pooja Entertainment, owned by Jackky Bhagnani and Vashu Bhagnani, is facing several accusations from employees who have called out the company for non-payment of dues. One of them took to social media to share a lengthy note about the kind of ‘unprofessional’ and ‘unethical’ behaviour and practices of the company, furthermore, urging her colleagues to stand up and speak up about such issues on the platform.

The employee accuses the Bhagnani of ‘fraudulent practices’

“Not the one to ever make such posts but sometimes people need to be ousted! Seeing my team and the crew I worked with struggle day in and out to just get hold of our own hard earned money has compelled me to make this post. Read the sheer frustration of these young girls who have beautifully stated the absolute disregard @pooja_ent has and the sheer unprofessional, unethical behaviour that we all have been tolerating for way too long,” read the note. It continued, “Being dodged from person to another just to ask for our own money which was promised to be cleared within 45-60 working days post completion which in itself is also unprofessional but the crew graciously agreed as we r a bunch driven by passion for filmmaking. But to exploit this passion to such an extent should not be acceptable. There is no hope of getting paid but this post is to make the countless others aware of this fraudulent practices by @pooja_ent @jackkybhagnani @vashubhagnani and vouch to not work with them.”

Before signing off, the note requested everyone to reshare and repost it as much as possible. “Urge my friends to kindly reshare this post and ask other filmmakers to do so too. And if u r associated with any media houses who can escalate it or cover this that will b great,” the note concluded.

A certain Vaishnavi Paralikar too took to the platform to share her experience of working with the production, a couple of years ago, wherein she penned “I did a movie 2 years ago with a very well known production house. Me along with atleast a 100 crew members are awaiting our payments (2 month salaries) since 2 years. Meanwhile actor have been paid immediately because they are ACTORS. None of the producers have an answer to our question, Where is my hard earned money? Most importantly, When can i get my hard earned money?”

Pooja Entertainment recently produced Bade Miyan Chote Miyan

Best known for producing some of the biggest blockbusters from the 90s like Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Biwi No. 1, as well as the original Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, recently returned with another film with the same title that marked the latest release of the production house this year, in April. While the film differed completely in terms of not just actors and plotline but even the genre, compared to its predecessor, it failed to garner love from audiences. The film starred Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in lead roles along with Manushi Chhillar, Sonakshi Sinha, Alaya F, Ronit Roy, Prithviraj Sukumaran, among others in key roles.

REVEALED: Controversial film Maharaj was passed by the CBFC with minimal cuts; Junaid Khan-starrer had a censor certificate though it is not mandatory for OTT releases

The controversial film Maharaj was finally released yesterday, June 21, on Netflix after the Gujarat High Court lifted the stay. The film has been in the news ever since the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal raised an objection on the grounds that it hurts religious sentiments. The film was originally scheduled to drop on Netflix on June 14 but on June 13, a stay order was imposed on its release. The hearing began on June 18 and the arguments were heard daily for four days. During the hearing, the advocates representing Netflix and Maharaj’s producers, Yash Raj Films, revealed that the period drama had obtained a censor certificate.

It has come to light that Maharaj was seen by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) way back in May 2023. On May 29 last year, the CBFC passed the film. This was one of the strongest points made by the respondents that helped them vacate the stay order. The lawyers reasoned that Maharaj is a direct-to-digital release and hence, doesn’t require a censor certificate. Yet, their film has been certified.

Bollywood Hungama found some more details about what happened at the CBFC office when the film was up for certification. A source told us, “Maharaj was first viewed by the Examining Committee (EC). However, because of its sensitive content, it was referred to the Revising Committee (RC). The RC, however, understood the intent of the filmmakers and that the content was not against any religion or sect. Hence, the film was passed though some minimal cuts were imposed. The makers accepted the cuts and the film playing on Netflix is the one with the modifications that was asked by the RC.”

The source continued, “It is common knowledge how the CBFC often asks for a lot of cuts for films dealing with religion or any controversial topic. Yet, they passed Maharaj and this went in the favour of the makers.”

Set in 1862, Maharaj is based on the Maharaj Libel Case fought between a prominent religious figure and Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer, in the Supreme Court of Bombay. According to the press statement released by the makers, it was one of the most significant legal battles of all time. Maharaj marks the debut of Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan and also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey and Sharvari. It is directed by Siddharth P Malhotra of Hichki (2018) fame.

Sara Ali Khan opens up on the spat between Kedarnath and Simmba makers over her dates: “I got SUED for Rs. 5 crores”

Sara Ali Khan had a rocking debut in 2018 with Kedarnath followed by Simmba. Both films were released within three weeks of each other. Incidentally, the films were also shot almost together. In fact, there was a point when Kedarnath’s dates got affected after Prerna Aroraa left the film. Sara’s management agency gave some of these dates to the makers of Simmba. But soon, Kedarnath was back on track as the issue was resolved. By then, Sara Ali Khan’s dates were given away. Abhishek Kapoor, the director and one of the producers of Kedarnath, went to court over this issue. During an interaction with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day, Sara Ali Khan spoke about this episode in her life.

Sara explained, “In May 2018, I was supposed to do Simmba. Kedarnath was happening; it was my debut film. Then, some dates went upar neeche and I also signed Simmba. Now, there were 3-4 dates that were coinciding. And yeah, I got sued for Rs. 5 crores (by the makers of Kedarnath)! I was very nervous because I didn’t have Rs. 5 crores (smiles).”

Sara Ali Khan said that it was a difficult period of her life, “My mother (Amrita Singh) was in Delhi as her father was dying. Ibrahim was in school. And I was served a vakaalatnaama. I was like, ‘Ab iska main kya karoon? Samaj hi nahin aa raha’! I sent the management to court as I had to go and shoot which the makers were aware of as they were also at the shoot (smiles)!”

Thankfully, an out-of-court settlement happened soon. She revealed, “Rohit sir (Rohit Shetty) and Gattu sir (Abhishek Kapoor) met in a room. Ranveer Singh (her co-star in Simmba) was also present and he said, ‘Okay, then’ and quickly left the room as it was a bit strange.” Thankfully, a solution was reached in no time. Sara revealed, “Kedarnath’s makers only wanted three dates and Rohit sir said, ‘Theek hai, le lo’! The case ended.”

She also added, “It was tricky as I spent a lot of time flying from Hyderabad to Mumbai. I was shooting simultaneously; Simmba at night and Kedarnath in the morning.” She also stated that due to the case, the equation with Abhishek Kapoor. Then, one day, she got her spot girl Zarna, who makes great coffee, to prepare the beverage for Abhishek Kapoor. She said, “After that, the shoot was smooth.”

Sara Ali Khan also made it clear that there is no bad blood between her and Abhishek, “He also had his reasons. And it’s all good now.”

Junaid Khan starrer Maharaj gets a clean chit from Gujarat court, makers express gratitude

Junaid Khan, the son of Bollywood star Aamir Khan, makes his acting debut in the Netflix film Maharaj, which is based on the life of journalist Karsan Das Mulji. The narrative focuses around the lives of a journalist who, against the odds, used the power of his pen to fight against the 'atrocities' perpetrated by religious leaders.

Members of a Hindu organisation filed a court petition to block its distribution, arguing that it violated religious feelings. Protests against its publication included social media boycotts. Its publication was subsequently postponed for one week. The suspension was lifted by the Gujarat High Court on June 21.

After Maharaj secured a clean chit from the court, Yash Raj Films (YRF) issued a long message of thanks to the Court on its official Instagram account. The statement noted, “We are grateful to the judiciary for allowing the release of Maharaj, a film that celebrates one of the most important social reformers of our country, Karsandas Mulji.”

It further noted, We have never produced a film that has tarnished the reputation of our country and our countrymen.”

Apart from Junaid, the film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari Wagh.

Salman Khan and Atlee Kumar in talks for an action spectacle with a South superstar: Report

Salman Khan's busy schedule just got busier! While he's currently filming for the action flick Sikandar aiming for an Eid 2025 release, exciting news has emerged about his potential collaboration with director Atlee for a high-budget action film. The project will have two heroes, as per a report.

According to Pinkvilla, sources confirm discussions between Salman Khan and Atlee regarding a feature film produced by Sun Pictures. The duo has reportedly been bonding and brainstorming ideas for a potential project. “There's a subject that aligns perfectly with both Salman and Atlee's strengths,” revealed a source close to the development. Salman has given a preliminary go-ahead, and Atlee is currently working on the screenplay.

The script is expected to be presented to Salman within a month, followed by discussions on shooting timelines. The film is tentatively slated to begin in early 2025.

Atlee reportedly aims to make this a massive Pan-India spectacle by pulling off a casting coup. The film will feature Salman Khan alongside a top A-list superstar from South Indian cinema. Talks are ongoing, and if successful, this collaboration will undoubtedly raise the stakes and generate immense buzz.

Recent rumours about Ranveer Singh being cast are untrue. The focus is on creating a North-South actor pairing for this project. Additionally, sources clarify that this film is entirely separate from the one Atlee previously planned with Allu Arjun, which was said to be a period drama. This new project is a fresh script designed specifically for Salman Khan and a yet-to-be-named South Indian superstar.

The report reveals that while official contracts haven't been signed yet, all parties involved seem enthusiastic about collaborating. A clearer picture is expected within the next 30 days, following further meetings and script narration sessions. Interestingly, once the screenplay is finalized, there will reportedly be a joint narration for both Salman and the South Indian star, who have both agreed in principle based on the initial idea.

This untitled film will be Atlee's next project after the highly successful Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi. The first surprise happened at the very start when it came to light that Prabhas’ Baahubali co-star Rana Daggubati is going to be the anchor of the evening. He introduced all the actors in an entertaining manner. He also sat down with Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone and talked about Kalki 2898 AD and a lot more.

Towards the end of the event, the makers surprised journalists by exclusively showing the second trailer of Kalki 2898 AD. They also informed the press that this new promo will be out on digital two days later, that is, June 21.

Amitabh Bachchan, before signing off, spoke highly of C Aswani Dutt. He said that he’s the humblest and simplest man he has ever met. Big B astonished everyone as he touched Dutt’s feet.

Gujarat HC to watch Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan's debut film Maharaj amid religious sentiment concerns: Report

The Gujarat High Court is considering whether to watch Maharaj, the debut film of Bollywood star Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan, to determine if it should be released on Netflix. The film's release has been challenged by members of the Pushtimarg sect, who claim it hurts their religious sentiments.

According to a report in NDTV, Justice Sangeeta Vishen's court extended the interim stay on the movie's release for another day and scheduled further hearings for Thursday. The move came after Yash Raj Films (YRF), the film's producer, offered to provide the court with a link and password to view the movie. This would help them decide if it indeed portrays content offensive to a particular religious community, as argued by the petitioners.

Maharaj is based on a controversial 1862 libel case involving a Vaishnavite religious leader and social reformer Karsandas Mulji. Mulji, in a Gujarati weekly article, accused the godman of having inappropriate relationships with his female devotees. The petitioners believe the British judges who decided the case made "blasphemous comments" against Lord Krishna and devotional hymns, potentially impacting their religious sentiments.

The court will now decide whether to avail itself of the opportunity to watch the film. Both parties – the petitioners and YRF – have agreed that viewing the movie wouldn't prevent them from raising other legal arguments concerning the petition's validity.

“We will provide the link if the court deems it necessary after hearing arguments from both sides,” said Shalin Mehta, lawyer for YRF. Advocate Mihir Joshi, representing the petitioners, echoed this sentiment, stating they have no objection to the court watching the film to make an informed decision. He emphasized their desire for a swift resolution, saying, “If the movie doesn't disrespect our religion, they should allow its release. We don't want to delay this any further.”

The petitioners argue that allowing the film's release would “seriously hurt” their religious beliefs and potentially disrupt public order, even inciting violence against their community. They claim the movie could violate the Information Technology Rules' code of ethics and the Over the Top (OTT) platform's self-regulation code by promoting hatred and violence against the Pushtimarg sect.

Previously, the petitioners approached the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, urging them to block the film's release. However, their request went unanswered.

Set in pre-independence India (1862), the film narrates the fight of Karsandas Mulji, a journalist, and social reformer. Stepping into the shoes of Mulji is Junaid Khan, marking his debut as the son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan. With just three universities established and the embers of the Sepoy Mutiny still smouldering, India grappled with social and political change. Mulji, a young man studying in Mumbai, emerges as a champion for the marginalized, inspired by his mentor, scholar-leader Dadabhai Naoroji. His unwavering commitment to justice leads him to confront a powerful figure in the infamous Maharaj Libel Case.

Netflix counters Gujarat HC’s stay on release of Junaid Khan starrer Maharaj: “Portrayal of facts of legal history cannot be curtailed”

Netflix and Yash Raj Films (YRF) are challenging a temporary stay order on the release of Maharaj, a film featuring actor Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan. The Gujarat High Court is scheduled to hear the case again on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, to decide whether the stay order will be lifted or extended.

Movie based on historical Libel case Maharaj is based on the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862, a landmark case adjudicated by British judges. The case stemmed from a libel suit filed by religious leader Jadunathji against social reformer Karsandas Mulji. An article published in a weekly newspaper edited by Mulji alleged that Jadunathji had inappropriate relationships with female followers and expected devotees to offer their wives for sex. Mulji won the case. Legal dispute over Maharaj’s release On June 13, a day before the film's scheduled release on Netflix, the High Court had ordered an interim stay on the release after hearing a petition filed by a group claiming to be devotees of Lord Krishna from the Vaishnavite Pustimargi sect.

The petitioners objected to the movie's release, arguing that excerpts contain "scandalous and defamatory language, which affects the Pustimargi sect as a whole" and that the release of the movie "is likely to incite feelings of hatred and violence against the Pustimargi sect, which would be in breach of code of ethics under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021." Netflix's arguments in Maharaj stay case Netflix and YRF argue that the petitioners are attempting to curtail the portrayal of factual events from legal history. They further argue that the movie has already secured certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and that the film does not depict the parts considered "scandalous" by the petitioners. Bollywood playback singer Alka Yagnik shared a personal note on Instagram, revealing a battle with a rare hearing disorder. The news comes as a shock to fans who have enjoyed her melodious voice in countless films for decades.

Yagnik described a sudden and alarming incident that led to her diagnosis. “A few weeks ago, as I walked out of a flight, I suddenly felt I was not able to hear anything,” she wrote in the heartfelt post. Doctors later diagnosed her with a rare form of sensory neural hearing loss, attributed to a viral attack.

The singer expressed her struggle to come to terms with this unexpected setback. “This sudden, major setback has caught me completely unaware,” she stated. Yagnik requested prayers and well wishes from her fans and colleagues as she grapples with the condition.

EXCLUSIVE: Ishq Vishk Rebound is the SHORTEST Bollywood film in recent times; CBFC blurs middle finger visuals in Rohit Saraf-starrer

The youthful entertainer, Ishq Vishk Rebound, is all set to release this week and its makers completed its Censor process in advance. It received the censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) way back on June 10. The CBFC passed the rom-com with a U/A certificate with two modifications.

Firstly, the Examining Committee of the CBFC asked the makers to blur the middle finger visuals. Secondly, a disclaimer on alcohol consumption was displayed at the bottom of the screen in all liquor-related scenes.

Interestingly, the length of Ishq Vishk Rebound, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 106 minutes. In other words, its run time is just 1 hour 46 minutes long. This makes it the shortest significant Hindi film in a long time.

There have been some films in recent times that had a duration of or less than 110 minutes like Raksha Bandhan (2022; 110 minutes), Dhokha - Round D Corner (2022; 108 minutes), Kuttey (2023; 108 minutes) etc. Zwigato (2023) was one minute less, with a run time of 105 minutes. But it had a small release. As per records, the last film that had a major release and was shorter than Ishq Vishk Rebound was the Sunny Singh-starrer Jai Mummy Di (2020). It was released in around 750-800 screens and was 103 minutes long.

A multiplex official remarked, “It’s common for Hollywood films to be 1 hour 40 or 50 minutes long. But we were pleasantly surprised to learn about its run time. It’s rare for a Hindi film to be this short. Now, we can accommodate 6 or even 7 shows of Ishq Vishk Rebound in a screen per day, if required.”

Ishq Vishk Rebound stars Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan and Naila Grrewal. Backed by Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films, it is directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari. It will be released on June 21.

Salman Khan death threat case: YouTuber from Rajasthan remanded in police custody till June 18

The Mumbai Police investigation into the recent death threats against Salman Khan has seen a key development. A 25-year-old man, Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar, from Bundi, Rajasthan, has been remanded in police custody till June 18.

Accused posted threatening video Gujar was arrested on charges of criminal intimidation after allegedly posting a video on his YouTube channel threatening to kill Salman Khan. In the video, recorded on a highway in Rajasthan, Gujar claimed to be associated with gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. The Mumbai Police traced the IP address to Rajasthan and apprehended Gujar with the help of the anti-extortion cell of the crime branch. Salman Khan death threat case investigation continues Police investigation revealed that Gujar used a fake name and email address while uploading the video. However, he was tracked down using his mobile number. He is charged under Section 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code (punishment for criminal intimidation) and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.  Authorities are also conducting a background check on his criminal record. Previous attacks on Salman Khan  This arrest follows the firing incident outside Salman Khan's residence in April 2024. Six individuals were previously arrested in that case, with one suspect dying by suicide in police custody. Additionally, Navi Mumbai Police have apprehended a separate group believed to be plotting an attack on Khan.

The Mumbai Police plan to seek custody of Lawrence Bishnoi, currently imprisoned in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, for questioning in connection with the threats. His brother Anmol, allegedly located in Canada, remains a wanted accused.

Sunny Deol to resume shoot for Hindi remake of Joseph titled Soorya after two years before kicking off Border 2 schedule: Report

Bollywood actor Sunny Deol is set to return to the big screen with the crime drama Soorya, which he began working on in 2022. Directed by M Padmakumar, Soorya is an official adaptation of the acclaimed Malayalam film Joseph (2018). The remake features Deol in the role of a retired cop who is drawn back into the investigative world to solve a murder case, ultimately uncovering a sinister organ-harvesting racket.

According to a report in Mid-Day, the production for Soorya initially commenced in Jaipur in 2022, but due to various scheduling conflicts and Deol's commitment to other projects, the film's completion was delayed. However, sources have now confirmed that Deol plans to finish shooting Kamal Mukut’s production by November 2024. This timeline aligns with Deol’s current engagements, as he is in the process of wrapping up another project, Lahore 1947.

Deepak Mukut, son of producer Kamal Mukut, shared insights into the film's progress, stating, “We have completed over 80 percent of the film. Sunny will complete the shoot very soon.” Despite the extended hiatus, Mukut emphasized the importance of patience and understanding in the film industry. Deepak added, “He was busy with other projects, and we were trying to work out the dates. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Deol family for ages, and it’s fine that Sunny couldn’t shoot for our film earlier. We understand his compulsions.”

The decision to cast Deol in the lead role came after he watched Joseph and expressed a keen interest in its gritty narrative. Deepak Mukut recounted Deol's enthusiasm for the project, noting that the actor immediately agreed to join the remake on the condition that it maintain the same level of intensity and realism as the original. He added, “Sunny is also involved in the creative process. His relationship with us is far more important [than a film]. We’ll wait for him.”

Following the wrap-up of Soorya, Sunny Deol will shift his focus to Border 2, the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border. The film is scheduled for Republic Day 2026 release – January 23.

Badshah, managers of Sanjay Dutt and Jacqueline Fernandez record statements; ED probes betting app case: Reports

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is digging deep into gambling, and money laundering, amid Bollywood glamour. Their investigation centers on a Mumbai-based event management firm suspected of recruiting celebrities to promote the Fairplay betting app, a subsidiary of the controversial Mahadev betting app. Big names like Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, and rapper Badshah have come under scrutiny for their alleged involvement. The ED has already recorded statements from Badshah and the managers of Dutt and Fernandez.

As reported by Times Now, this investigation stems from a complaint filed by Viacom18 Media Pvt. Limited, which triggered an FIR by the Maharashtra Cyber Police in Mumbai. Before raiding the event management firm, the ED reportedly obtained a statement from a key individual there. The raids yielded a treasure trove of documents, including contracts with celebrities to promote Fairplay, details on payment methods and transactions, and other crucial company information. Reports suggest Fernandez may have received a hefty sum from a Dubai-based entity, Trim General Trading LLC, for endorsing the app.

The report further states that Badshah's alleged involvement points towards a Melbourne-based company, Lyukos Group FZF. Documents provided by the rapper to authorities reveal Lyukos Group partnered with two Mumbai talent management firms to promote the betting app. Dutt, on the other hand, is suspected of receiving Rs. 25 lakhs from a Singaporean gaming company to promote the app on social media.

The ED is examining all seized documents and the statements from Badshah and the managers. These statements were forwarded by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell for further investigation.

This isn't the first time Bollywood has brushed shoulders with the Mahadev app controversy. Zee TV’s popular show Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye is set for a new entry of Pratiksha Honmukhe. After being ousted from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai overnight, she will be seen in the Zee TV drama and the promo for the same is out already.

The show follows the lives of Amruta (Sriti Jha) - a Maharashtrian girl of modest means, a believer in the sanctity of marriage and working on relationships and on the other hand, Virat (Arjit Taneja) - a Delhi-based Punjabi businessman who has lost faith in the institution because he believes most women are inherently gold-diggers. Recently, viewers witnessed Amruta and Virat’s ‘fake’ wedding, where the duo is trying to find the person responsible for leaking their photos in a compromising position. Amruta discovers that the culprit is Virat’s mother, Babita (Kishori Shahane), but Virat refuses to believe it. He is convinced Amruta is accusing his mother purely for financial gains. In his head, she is just as opportunistic and materialistic as his ex-wife Priyanka was. This leads to a series of events where, in a fit of rage, Virat marries Amruta with the intent of teaching her a lesson for life.

Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor is all set to make her non-fiction comeback, joining the popular dance reality show India’s Best Dancer for its fourth season. This marks a new chapter for Kapoor, who has captivated audiences with her on-screen performances for years.

In a report in India Today, it was revealed that the makers were looking to bring in a new Bollywood personality, and Kapoor perfectly fit the bill. Not only is she known for her graceful dancing skills showcased in numerous films, but she also exudes warmth and charm, making her a natural fit for the show's judging panel.

According to the report, Kapoor readily embraced this exciting new opportunity. Having previously appeared as a guest judge on India's Best Dancer, she's familiar with the show's format and energy. While Kapoor's presence is confirmed, the other two judges from previous seasons are likely to return. Geeta Kapoor and Terence Lewis, who have been instrumental in guiding contestants through their dancing journeys, are expected to join Karisma on the panel.

Singham Again: Rohit Shetty confirms Ajay Devgn starrer’s release in Diwali

Just a day ago, Ajay Devgn opened up about Singham Again wherein he revealed that they are in no hurry to release since the film is yet to be completed. While it was expected to release in August this year, now filmmaker Rohit Shetty has confirmed that the date has been pushed by a few months and it will release on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.

In an earlier interaction with the media, Ajay Devgn had addressed about the delay in the release of Singham Again, wherein he revealed that the film encountered an unexpected delay due to a few portions yet to be shot as well as some post-production work which is still pending. However, this delay seems to have only heightened the anticipation surrounding the project, with fans eagerly awaiting the return of their beloved Inspector Bajirao Singham to the big screen.

The release of Yash Raj Films' upcoming period drama of Junaid Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat, Maharaj on Netflix, scheduled for June 14, is uncertain. The Gujarat High Court has granted an ex parte temporary stay on the film's release following a petition filed by a Hindu group.

As per a report in Film Information, the petitioners, reportedly associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, allege that the film portrays a 19th-century Hindu religious leader from Gujarat in a negative light, potentially hurting religious sentiments. This controversy comes on the heels of nearly 10 days of growing tensions surrounding the film.

Maharaj promises to unveil a hidden chapter of Indian history. Set in pre-independence India (1862), the film narrates the courageous fight of Karsandas Mulji, a journalist, and social reformer. Stepping into the shoes of Mulji is Junaid Khan, marking his debut as the son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan.

The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of a nation in flux. With just three universities established and the embers of the Sepoy Mutiny still smouldering, India grappled with social and political change. Mulji, a young man studying in Mumbai, emerges as a champion for the marginalized, inspired by his mentor, scholar-leader Dadabhai Naoroji. His unwavering commitment to justice leads him to confront a powerful figure in the infamous Maharaj Libel Case.

Maharaj aims to resurrect Mulji's bravery and bring his story to a modern audience. However, the film's portrayal of a Hindu religious leader has sparked controversy. The VHP and Bajrang Dal have reportedly called for a boycott of the film, further escalating tensions.

As reported by Bollywood Hungama previously, these groups expressed concerns about the film's content in a letter dated June 3rd, addressed to both Netflix and Yash Raj Films. The letter, delivered by Gautam Ravriya, coordinator of the VHP-Bajrang Dal's Konkan region, claims that the film's poster suggests a negative portrayal of a Hindu religious leader. This, they fear, could hurt the sentiments of Hindu viewers and potentially lead to a law and order situation.

The letter further demands a screening for the VHP before the film's global release, suggesting that their future course of action will depend on the content they witness. Ravriya has also taken to social media, uploading videos of himself delivering the letter to Netflix and YRF officials in Mumbai. The videos depict Ravriya asserting that the VHP-Bajrang Dal will not allow the film's release if they find anything objectionable. Karan Johar moves Bombay High Court over illegal use of his name in a film’s title

Director-Producer Karan Johar has reportedly taken legal action against the creators of the upcoming Hindi movie Shaadi Ke Director Karan aur Johar. Johar, a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking an urgent injunction against the film's release, since it is slated to hit theatres this week, on June 14. With the film being only a day away from its release, Johar seeks not only a temporary stay on the film's distribution but also a permanent injunction against the unauthorized use of his name in any context related to the movie.

In his plea, Karan Johar emphasized the necessity of preventing the unauthorized use of his name in the film's title, arguing that such usage directly infringes upon his personal rights, including his rights to privacy and publicity. He also went on to firmly clarify and assert that he has no involvement whatsoever with the movie or its creators. Karan also explained in his complaint that this is blatant exploitation of his 'brand name' without consent, which undermines his hard-earned reputation and goodwill in the industry. The lawsuit underscores the urgency of the matter, given that promotional materials, including trailers and posters, are already in circulation on various platforms, including social media.

In an official statement which was reported by India Today, the suit read, "These trailers and posters have caused and are continuing to cause irreparable loss and damage to the goodwill and reputation of Johar. Further, such a release of the film with the title containing his brand name 'Karan Johar,' together or in parts, will cause irreparable loss and damage to the goodwill and reputation which he has gained after investing huge amounts of time, effort, and money,"

Justice RI Chagla's bench has agreed to hold a hearing on June 13, Thursday, a day prior to the release of the film.
