Netflix announces comedy entertainers Maamla Legal Hai and Wild Wild Punjab; adds thrilling element with IC 814

On Thursday, Netflix hosted a massive event in Mumbai where they announced the upcoming ventures slated for release in 2024 which included a host of web-shows and movies. Among them was Varun Sharma, Sunny Singh starrer Wild Wild Punjab, web-series IC814 based on the infamous Kandahar hijack, and a courtroom comedy Maamla Legal Hai. The makers decided to give audiences a glimpse into these projects along with many other projects.

Taking to social media, the makers unveiled the teaser of the web-series Maamla Legal Hai, which is set within the fictional confines of Patparganj District Court. This gavel-slamming courtroom comedy explores the world of law through the eyes of its eccentric lawyers. This motley crew of lawyers from idealistic rookies to cynical veterans promises a delightful blend of humor, heart, and legal jargon, drawing inspiration from real-life strange and unbelievable cases.

Showrunner and Executive Producer Sameer Saxena opened up about the show and shared, “As long-standing partners with Netflix, we are pleased to introduce our latest production — a courtroom comedy, Maamla Legal Hai. While we've seen courtroom dramas in the past, our show brings forth the shenanigans from the courtroom premises along with the quirky lawyers and their unconventional tactics in a light hearted manner. On the other hand, IC 814 featuring an ensemble cast and is inspired by the true events that transpired decades ago. On 24 December 1999, Indian Airlines flight IC 814, en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi, was hijacked and taken to Kandahar in Taliban-governed Afghanistan. The hijack lasted seven days; while passengers and crew suffered, some great officers back home struggled to answer the ‘who’ and ‘why’ - answers that were beyond the obvious and extremely complex. But the people had to be brought back home safely. The clock was ticking as the negotiations forged through; this is the story of those seven days which became the longest hijack in Indian history.

Director and co-creator of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Anubhav Sinha elaborated on the show and said, "You are thirty thousand feet from the ground; the aircraft is in control by armed and dangerous people, and you don’t know what they want. You don’t know if they can be given what they want to spare your lives. You don’t know the lengths that people on the ground will go to, to negotiate a reasonable price for your lives. What went on inside the aircraft and outside, beyond geographical boundaries, while the aircraft landed in four different countries over one night? IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack is a verisimilar account of that infamous hijack from 1999 inside the aircraft, the War Room back home in Delhi and the Negotiation Station in Kandahar. This is a story that created unexpected heroes out of the most unprecedented crises. This is a story of those seven days of mayhem, skill and tact."

As for Wild Wild Punjab, Netflix decided to share a deeper insight into the comedy entertainer by unveiling a teaser of the movie which features a group of drunk boys who decide to avenge a friend’s breakup by crashing his ex's wedding and achieve closure. What ensues is a bold and impromptu plan for a “breakup trip" leading to unforeseen adventures in this maze of a land called — Wild Wild Punjab!

Speaking of Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, the story will have Rani playing a paying guest, residing in the city of Agra, and Rishu living under the alias Ravi Varma. The Great Indian Kapil Show is a variety chat show set in the bustling confines of an airport and features prominent celebrity guests every week. Shreyas Talpade hints at Golmaal 5 release date: “I'm hoping that we do…”

Get ready to laugh out loud, Golmaal fans! Actor Shreyas Talpade, a member of the franchise's cast, has shared exciting news about the highly anticipated fifth instalment.

In a recent interview with News 18, Talpade revealed his hope for a Diwali 2025 release, stating, "I'm hoping that we do it next year and next Diwali is when we get to see Golmaal 5.” This update follows director Rohit Shetty's earlier announcement confirming the film's production within the next two years.

Expressing his deep connection to the franchise, Shreyas shared, "Golmaal is very close to our hearts... It was so much fun on the sets that we couldn't face each other and say our lines because we would burst out laughing.”

The 48-year-old actor also expressed his observation of a shift in the comedy film landscape, highlighting a lack of ensemble comedies like Golmaal and Housefull in recent times. He pointed out the enduring popularity of these earlier films and questioned the current trend.

He asserted, "There has been a shift in comedy. We recently haven't come up with something like Golmaal or Housefull... There was a phase in 2005 where multi-starrer comedy films were coming in one after the other... They were making films and not projects. They wanted to get the best people and not who was available. There used to be a soul in it.”

While fans eagerly await Golmaal 5, Talpade can be seen next in the Marathi film Hee Anokhi Gaath. He also has Welcome To The Jungle lined up for the future.

Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi to shoot for Jolly LLB 3 after completing Welcome To The Jungle: Report

Readers may recall that Bollywood superstars Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi are all set to reprise their iconic roles in the third installment, Jolly LLB 3. Well, as per the latest update, the highly anticipated film is scheduled to begin shooting in May 2024, following the completion of their ongoing project Welcome To The Jungle.

A report by PinkVilla quoted a source saying, "While a schedule of Welcome To The Jungle is wrapped up, the team reunites for the second stint from March 9. A big set is being put up in Mumbai where the entire ensemble of Welcome To The Jungle comes together. It’s a major schedule of 45 days, and by April end, the Welcome 3 team would be done shooting for about 60 days."

Jolly LLB 3, also referred to as Jolly Vs Jolly, promises a fresh dynamic between Akshay and Arshad. It will be a situational comedy set within the Indian legal system, with a unique twist. The source elaborated, "It’s essentially a fight between the two Jolly’s – Akshay & Arshad – with Saurabh Shukla as the judge. The makers have zeroed in on a very relevant case, which is bigger and a lot more complicated than the earlier two Jolly LLB films."

Produced by Cape of Good Films and Disney, the film will be shot primarily in Mumbai and real locations in Rajasthan. While details about the plot remain under wraps, it is expected to be another thought-provoking case delivered with a touch of humour.

The report further added that before diving into Jolly LLB 3, Akshay Kumar will complete filming for a significant portion of Welcome To The Jungle, slated for release during Christmas 2024. Upon wrapping Jolly LLB 3, he will move on to the Sajid Nadiadwala production, Housefull 5.

Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu recently addressed reports about her upcoming wedding with badminton player Mathias Boe. On February 27, several media outlets published articles claiming the couple would be tying the knot in March 2024, in Udaipur. However, Taapsee has made it clear that she will not be sharing details about her personal life with the media.

As reported by India Today, Taapsee stated, "I have never given any clarification regarding my personal life and I never will." While some reports like the one in NDTV suggested a grand ceremony with a mix of Sikh and Christian traditions, and an exclusive guest list excluding A-listers, these claims remain unconfirmed by the couple themselves.

Taapsee and Mathias have reportedly been in a relationship for over a decade, having met in 2013. They have maintained a private relationship throughout the years. While Taapsee is 36 years old, Mathias, a well-known Danish badminton player, is 43. He retired from the sport in 2020 but currently coaches the Indian national badminton team for men's doubles.

Khushbu Sundar reveals her daughters warned her not to watch Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal; says, “We need to think of the mindset of the people who make it a success”

Khushbu Sundar, who is a member of the NCW aka National Commission for Women, was invited to speak about the portrayal of women in the Indian Entertainment in a summit hosted by TV9. During the same, the actress touched upon the subject of Animal success and expressed concern over the way audiences are reacting to such films which portray extreme misogyny. The actress also mentioned that her daughters asked her to refrain from watching the Ranbir Kapoor starrer for its portrayal of female characters.

During the Summit of TV9, Khushbu Sundar asserted that it is the perception of the audience that is scaring her in such situations. "If a misogynistic film like Animal continues to bring in moolah, becomes one of the biggest box office grossing films, we need to think of the mindset of the people who make it a success," she said and further went on to continue, "We had a major issue with Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy. But I don’t blame the director, because I think for him, it’s success which will count.”

The actress further expressed her disappointment in the audience and added, “They’re all youngsters. They’re educated youngsters who said, ‘Oh, we love the film.’ And I’m like, ‘Guys, what’s going on in your mind?."

She went on to talk about such portrayals having an impact and stated how her kids ended up watching the film. “We show what’s happening in society in films. We talk about respect for women and yet, people watch such films. I wouldn’t want my girls to watch the film. But they did watch it because they wanted to know what it was about. They came back and said, ‘Amma (mother), please don’t watch the film.’ Where are we heading when such films have a repeat audience", she concluded.

Although Animal continues to receive success from all quarters including Filmfare Awards to actors for their performances in the film, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial continues to be a subject of debate for portraying multiple forms of violence like women abuse and rape. The Sabarmati Report Teaser: Vikrant Massey leaves an impact as a television correspondent reporting the news of the Godhra incident

Starring Vikrant Massey and Raashii Khanna, the makers unveiled the teaser of The Sabarmati Report on the day of February 27, 22 years after the Sabarmati Express incident shook the nation. In the teaser, they have revealed that this clip aims at paying homage to the 59 innocent people who lost their lives in the Godhra train burning incident two decades ago on the same day.

Balaji Motion Pictures shared the teaser on their social media handle, which kicks off with Vikrant Massey as a television correspondent who is about to start his show but is interrupted by the mic asking for an English correspondent, to which one of the crew members said that the latter is unavailable. Vikrant is further asked to continue with his show and he is in a state of shock as he narrates the news about the Godhra incident. He also goes on to assert that it wasn’t an accident, leaving the audiences perplexed.

The makers aim to take everyone into this intriguing story with a video that not only showcases Vikrant as a journalist but it also features montages and paper clippings of the incident where innocent lost their lives in a gut-wrenching incident.

Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas’ last rites to be held in Mumbai on February 27, confirms daughter Nayaab Udhas

Veteran ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passed away at age 72. After a prolonged illness, the singer breathed his last on February 26, as confirmed by his daughter Nayaab Udhas. The singer was undergoing pancreatic cancer treatment. He died around 11 am at the Breach Candy Hospital on Monday. The last rites will be conducted on February 27 in Mumbai.

A statement shared by Udhas’ daughter Nayaab Udhas on her Instagram read, “In loving memory of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas. With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of his demise on the 26 of February 2024 due to a prolonged illness. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, February 27, from 3 to 5 pm. Venue: Hindu Crematorium. Worli (Mumbai) Landmark Opp. Four Seasons: Dr E Muses Rd. Worli. The Udhas Family.”

Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, stars of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, along with Manushi Chillar and Alaya F, recently wrapped the extensive Jordan schedule of the film. The actors filmed four songs in Jordan, one with Sonakshi Sinha’s special appearance. The makers recently unveiled the movie's title track on February 19, 2024. They kicked off the film’s promotions in Lucknow with live-action stunts. However, the event took a turn when the cops had to resort to lathi charge to control the crowd.

In viral videos, UP Police has to resort to lathi charge when the crowd became unruly. They were allegedly throwing chappals and a stampede almost broke out. Though Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff were at a safe distance from the mob, the videos from the event have gone viral that the crowd became unruly after the stars threw merchandise at them.

“Fans made a scramble to catch the items that were thrown towards them, which broke the barricades that were supposed to hold them back,” said Anand Krishna, representative of the PR company which organised the event, as per News18. “The actors left the show midway much before the scheduled time,” a person involved in the event said.

Shot across stunning locations including Mumbai, London, Abu Dhabi, Scotland, and Jordan, the film features Prithviraj Sukumaran in an intriguing villainous role.

Pankaj Udhas battled pancreatic cancer, confirms friend Anup Jalota; says, “I knew this for the last 5 to 6 months”

Renowned ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas, who passed away today on February 26, 2024, was battling pancreatic cancer, his close friend and fellow singer Anup Jalota confirmed. While earlier reports stated Udhas had been struggling with a prolonged illness, Jalota exclusively revealed to The Indian Express that the 72-year-old singer had been diagnosed with cancer for the past five to six months.

Expressing his grief, Jalota shared, "People have lost Pankaj Udhas, but I have lost a very dear friend today. We were friends for 45 years. We used to spend beautiful evenings together. In those days, Pankaj, me, and Talat Aziz were famous. We would work together."

He further stated the bittersweet irony of Udhas, who had helped many cancer patients, succumbing to the same illness. "The man who helped so many cancer patients, himself died of cancer. That is life. He had pancreatic cancer. I knew this for the last 5 to 6 months, and he stopped talking to me in the last 2-3 months, so I realized that his health was not okay. I feel very sad that this illness took his life."

Jalota also disclosed maintaining contact with Udhas' daughter, Nayaab, and shared his condolences on social media. He additionally spoke to IANS, highlighting their musical trio's impact on the ghazal genre. "My trio with Pankaj and Talat was quite famous. We have done so many concerts together. He has had a major contribution in helping ghazals reach households."

SCOOP: Yash Raj Films to distribute Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in overseas territories

Around 1 ½ months are left for the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and the excitement is considerable. The film has caught attention due to the coming together of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff for the first time, mass appeal, grandeur and stylized action scenes, as visible in the teaser and BTS video released by the makers. And now, Bollywood Hungama has learned that besides Akshay and Tiger, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan will also bring two prominent production houses for the first time.

A trade source told Bollywood Hungama, “Yash Raj Films (YRF) is all set to distribute Bade Miyan Chote Miyan in overseas markets. The film is produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment and is the first time that they have joined hands with YRF for distribution. They are happy to have Aditya Chopra’s reputed banner on board to release their film in foreign lands and they are confident that they’ll get the best of screens.”

An industry insider commented, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan releases on Eid. This is a great time for cinema as families come out in large numbers to catch the latest flick in the Middle East and other big markets like the USA, UK, Canada, Australia/New Zealand etc. As a result, the film has a chance to score and with YRF coming on board; they’ll surely give the film a great release that it rightfully deserves.”

YRF Distribution has distributed several films made by outside banners over the years. Some of these movies are Dunki (2023), Jawan (2023), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (2023), Kuttey (2023), Drishyam 2 (2022), Uunchai (2022), Runway 34 (2022), Dabangg 3 (2019), Zero (2018), Race 3 (2018) etc. For films like Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Kuttey etc, YRF was the distributor not just overseas but also in India.

Besides Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar and Alaya F. It is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Incidentally, Ali began his career with Yash Raj Films and the collaboration also marks his reunion with the banner.

Don 3: Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani to begin action training in March with experts from Thailand – Report

Earlier in February 2024, Bollywood Hungama reported that Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar plan to take the third installment of Don on floors by August 2024. A week ago, Kiara Advani was officially announced as the leading lady of Don 3, presumably playing Roma. Now, the makers are planning to begin work on the project by next month with action training with experts from Thailand.

As per a report in Mid-Day, a source revealed, “Ranveer and Kiara will start their physical prep, beginning with agility training, from late March. Experts in martial arts from Thailand have been roped in.” Farhan Akhtar is keen on amping up the action quotient in the film.

The source added, “In the last few years, Hindi cinema has seen every type of stylized action— from War [2019] to Pathaan [2023] and Fighter. So, Farhan wants to make the action syntax fresh. He has had several meetings with action choreographers from India and other countries to discuss the possibilities. He wants the palette to be different from whatever the tentpole movies have offered in recent years.”

Earlier in February 2024, a source told Bollywood Hungama, “The film is currently in the casting stage. It’s 100% true that the pre-production of Don 3 will commence next month. The team will then start shooting the film from August this year. There were surprising twists in the first two Don movies. Similarly, it is said that Don 3 too will have some surprises in store for the audience.”

Just a few days ago, we also reported the massive budget of the film. According to a source close to the project, Don 3 will be the most expensive Don film. “Don 1 and Don 2 with Shah Rukh Khan were made on decent budgets, but with Don 3, Farhan Akhtar aims to make a global film. The vision with Don 3 is not just to compete with action films of India, but also to go global on the scale front. Don 3 is Farhan's attempt to make a global action thriller and no one better than Ranveer Singh to spearhead the franchise in the new era,” the source said.

Don 3 will be made on a budget of Rs. 275 crore, not taking into account the print and publicity expenses. “The action has been visualized in a way that Don 3 stands tall against the Spy Universe. However, what separates Don 3 from other action films of India is the protagonist, who has shades of negative elements,” the source told us further.

The first film in the franchise Don, which released in 2006 and was produced by Excel Entertainment, was the remake of director Chandra Barot’s classic Don, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and was released in 1978. Don 2 was the sequel to the 2006 movie and it took the story of the dreaded Don forward. Kumar Shahani, Maya Darpan and Khayal Gatha filmmaker, passes away at 83

Filmmaker Kumar Shahani, regarded as one of the pioneers of Indian parallel cinema, passed away in Kolkata on Saturday, February 24. He was 83. With a career spanning six decades, Shahani directed some of the most critically acclaimed movies including Maya Darpan (1972), Tarang (1984), Khayal Gatha (1989) and Kasba (1990).

Born on December 7, 1940, in Larkana, British India (now in Pakistan), Kumar Shahani studied at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, where he was deeply influenced by the works of filmmakers like Ritwik Ghatak and Jean-Luc Godard. His films often explored complex cultural, social, and political issues, reflecting his deep engagement with Indian classical arts and literature.

His film Maya Darpan won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 1973. He also taught at various institutions, including the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, where he himself was trained.

Priyanka Chopra boards Oscar-nominated documentary To Kill A Tiger as executive producer

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has joined the Academy Award-nominated documentary feature To Kill A Tiger, as one of the executive producers. She joins a long list of producers, including Dev Patel, and Mindy Kaling, among others. This news comes after Netflix inked a deal for the documentary to be launched globally on the streaming platform.

As per Deadline, an official statement read, “Priyanka has stood as an unwavering advocate for the film since debuting at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2022, captivated by its poignant narrative depicting a father’s valiant struggle within the judicial system to secure justice for his daughter.”

Among the several executive producers include Dr. Atul Gawande, the surgeon and bestselling author, Canadian poet Rupi Kaur, writer-producer Andy Cohen, Deepa Mehta, Anita Lee, Andrew Dragoumis, Shivani Rawat, Mona Sinha, Mala Gaonkar, Regina Scully, Anita Bhatia, Niraj Bhatia, and others.

Jigra marks Alia's second production under her banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, after the critically acclaimed Darlings. Notably, this project reunites her with Karan Johar and Dharma Productions, where she began her acting journey. The project was announced back in September 2023.

Agastya Nanda describes Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan and Navya Naveli Nanda as ‘watered down versions of each other’ in the new podcast episode

From parenthood to love life, the podcast kicked off by entrepreneur Navya Naveli Nanda, who is also the granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan, has successfully reached the third season, which aims at getting three generations together. Tracing changes through generations, the podcast features Navya’s grandmother Jaya Bachchan and mother Shweta Bachchan. The teaser of the upcoming fourth episode of the show, is also expected to feature Agastya Nanda, who recently made his Bollywood debut.

While the teaser does showcase how the women of the family are talking about Agastya Nanda and gives us a sneak peek into his real-life camaraderie with the trio, it also showcases the immense respect the budding actor has for the women in the family. In fact, talking about growing in a household with such strong women, Agastya was seen saying in the teaser, "I have grown up surrounded by very strong, opinionated women And you all are a watered-down version of each other”. He went on to point at Jaya Bachchan adding, “Nani is at the top” and continued showing how his mother and Navya are aligned as per their age and generation in this hierarchy. “But I understand that you all share the same essence,” he concluded.

Navya Naveli Nanda, who refrains from Bollywood and has been following the footsteps of her father by pursuing her passion for business, kicked off What The Hell Navya a couple of years ago, wherein for the first time ever, fans got to witness the three generations of Bachchan women discussing a wide range of subjects and concepts and sharing their opinions.

On the other hand, her brother and Shweta’s son Agastya Nanda is a passionate actor and made his big Bollywood debut alongside Suhana Khan and Khushi Kapoor in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies. The actor has also bagged his second film with Sriram Raghavan titled Ikkis, co-starring Dharmendra, which is a biopic based on Arun Khetrapal.

EXCLUSIVE: Pathaan and Tiger 3 writer Shridhar Raghavan to make his Hollywood debut with a horror series in collaboration with Peter Safran and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick of The Conjuring and Aquaman fame

Shridhar Raghavan has become a force to reckon with in recent times. He’s considered as a mentor to the much-loved YRF (Yash Raj Films) Spy Universe. He wrote the recent films of this series like the Hrithik Roshan-Tiger Shroff starrer War (2019), the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan (2023) and Salman Khan-starrer Tiger 3 (2023). The writer began his career writing TV shows like ‘CID’ and ‘Aahat’ and then also scripted acclaimed films and shows like Khakee (2004), Bluffmaster (2005), Criminal Justice, The Night Manager etc. And now, he adds another feather to his cap. He’s all set to make his debut in Hollywood as the writer of an upcoming horror series.

This series in question will be backed by Reliance Entertainment along with visionary Hollywood producer Peter Safran. Acclaimed writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is also a part of it.

Speaking exclusively with Bollywood Hungama, Shridhar Raghavan said, “A few years back, Peter Safran, who’s a famous producer and who made The Conjuring, approached Reliance Entertainment while looking for interesting material in the supernatural genre. I was, at that time, working on a young adult book, which was in the same zone. After ‘Aahat’, I never wrote anything supernatural. My kids love reading. Hence, I felt it’d be good fun to write a story to scare the hell out of them!”

Shridhar continued, “Reliance spoke to me and I talked to Peter Safran. I sent him the book I was working on and he liked the idea. I then started developing it. Peter Safran will produce the show along with Reliance. It’ll have around 6-8 episodes. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who wrote Aquaman, is my script consultant. Currently, we have locked the script. It took us 4 ½ years to do so. Covid delayed the process.”

Stating that “Both Peter Safran and David are superb,” Shridhar Raghavan stated, “I am a classic horror fan. I love films like The Omen (1976), The Exorcist (1973), Rosemary’s Baby (1968) etc. I don’t mind recent horror films. But for me, The Omen is the (classic) horror film. In fact, horror is the wrong word. These films are dramas with supernatural elements. The Omen is a father-son story, Rosemary’s Baby is a mother-daughter tale while The Exorcist is about a priest and a girl who is possessed.”

Peter Safran is the co-chairman and CEO of DC Studios alongside James Gunn. He has produced all the films of the Conjuring universe and also DC Superhero films like Shazam (2019), The Suicide Squad (2021), Shazam! Fury Of The Gods (2023), Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom (2023), etc. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, meanwhile wrote Orphan (2009), The Conjuring 2 (2016), Aquaman (2018), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom etc.

As per a press release released by Reliance Entertainment in February 2023, Peter Safran and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick are also making a horror series with Vikram Bhatt.

Another Bollywood pair has tied the knot. Bollywood stars Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani have gotten married after an intimate two-day celebration. The actress and the producer took their vows on February 21 in Goa. Their wedding festivities kicked off earlier this week in the presence of the family and close friends. Now, the newlyweds have unveiled the first photos from their wedding.

The couple got married in a traditional ceremony in Goa. A Sindhi wedding ceremony will soon take place. Now, they have released the first pics.

In 2021, Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani made their relationship public on social media. Since then, the couple has gracefully embraced sharing their journey with the world.

Filmmaker Shashank Khaitan has had a successful outing with Varun Dhawan in not one but two films from the Dulhania franchise – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Now, Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that Shashank and Varun are all set to create a hattrick.

The filmmaker-actor duo has joined hands for a film which will be a love story, which is yet untitled. It is not known yet whether this is the 3rd film in the Dulhania franchise. As per our knowledge, there will be a grand announcement of the movie and its title tomorrow. The makers might also reveal the leading lady for the movie.

The last time Shashank Khaitan donned the director’s hat was for the film Govinda Naam Mera, which released directly on OTT in 2022. It starred Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani in pivotal roles.

Varun’s next release is the highly anticipated Baby John, which was earlier tentatively titled VD 18. The movie is produced by the Jawan filmmaker Atlee Kumar, and it is directed by Kalees. Baby John will be the first time that Varun will be seen in a masala action film. The movie is all set to release on May 31.

Shah Rukh Khan gives heartwarming speech after winning Best Actor for Jawan at Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024: “Bahut saal ho gaye”

Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024 on Tuesday night in Mumbai. He won the said award for his performance in Atlee Kumar’s directorial, Jawan. During his speech, the actor confessed that it had been a while since he received Best Actor and he had started to believe he might not win now.

“Shukriya sari jury member ka jinhone mujhko best actor ke liye layak samjha aur bahut saal ho gaye mujhe best actor ka award nahin mila toh aisa lagne laga tha ki ab milega hi nahin. Mujhe bahut khushi hai. Mujhe awards bahut ache lagte hai …main thoda laalchi hoon, greedy hoon. (I thank the jury who considered me worthy of the Best Actor award. I have not received the Best Actor Award in a long time. It seemed as if I would not get it again…So I am extremely happy. I like awards. I am a bit greedy),” Shah Rukh Khan said in his speech, which left the audience in splits.

He saw Dunki director Vidhu Vinod Chopra in the audience and quipped, “Mere se zyada Vidhu Vinod Chopra ko acche lagte hai. Hum dono share kar lenge,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan went on to thank Atlee, his co-stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, music director Anirudh Ravichander and everyone involved in making Jawan a stupendous success. “I am genuinely thrilled and touched that people have recognized the work that I have put in. Work of an artist is not important… all the people around him or her make everything come together. I promise I will keep working hard and entertain India and people who are living abroad as many years as I can. Whether it takes me to dance, to fall, to fly, to romance, to be evil, to be a bad guy, to be a good guy… Inshallah, I will keep working hard,” he said.

In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan made a smashing return with Pathaan, followed by Jawan and Dunki. The former two films ended up earning more than Rs. 1000 crore at the box office globally whereas Dunki was also a success with Rs. 212.42 crores at the Indian box office.

Mrunal Thakur purchases flat in Andheri, previously owned by Kangana Ranaut's family members: Report

Rising star Mrunal Thakur, riding the success of her recent Telugu film Hi Nanna with Nani, has reportedly purchased a new haven in Mumbai. Her choice? An apartment in Andheri, previously owned by actress Kangana Ranaut's father, Amardeep Ranaut, and her brother. 

While reports state that, Mrunal currently resides in a rented apartment in Andheri, she will transition to the new flat. This particular dwelling is a unique combination of two previously owned apartments, originally belonging to Kangana Ranaut's father and brother. The report further adds that the interiors are already complete and designed to Mrunal's preferences. The purchase was apparently facilitated by Sagar Bharti, a prominent broker in Mumbai's western suburbs, known for his expertise in handling high-profile deals.

Speaking of the professional front, the 31-year-old actress is currently waiting for the release of Family Star with Vijay Deverakonda. The Telugu entertainer will be released in theatres on April 5, 2024, and is directed by Parasuram. There will be no extended celebrations or reception in Mumbai or anywhere else after. It looks like it is going to be a 3-4 days’ affair like most weddings usually are,” a source had mentioned.

Kartik Aaryan starrer Aashiqui 3 retitled Tu Aashiqui Hai; film to be inspired by Basera: Report

Hold onto your hats, Aashiqui fans! The highly anticipated Kartik Aaryan starrer, initially announced as Aashiqui 3, has undergone a name change and a surprising twist. According to recent reports, the film will now be called Tu Aashiqui Hai and reportedly draw inspiration from the 1981 romantic drama Basera.

A recent report by Times Now quoted a source saying, “Aashiqui 3 is now titled Tu Aashiqui Hai. It is based on the 1981 film, Basera, starring Shashi Kapoor, Rakhee, and Rekha. The film will go on floors later this year. Tripti and Kartik will play the lead roles, and the producers are yet to lock one more actress for the movie.”

While the makers haven't officially confirmed Tu Aashiqui Hai as a remake of Basera, the choice of title and reported inspiration certainly sparks curiosity. Basera explored complex emotions and relationships, elements resonating strongly with the Aashiqui franchise. Will Kartik and Triptii bring a contemporary twist to this classic love story? Only time will tell!

Yusuf Ibrahim, known for managing security for top Bollywood stars, shared his insights with ETimes. He spoke about the importance of meticulous planning and execution for "challenges of high-profile weddings." Maintaining secrecy and security remain his top priorities while ensuring invited guests "have a free hand to do what they want to."

Meanwhile, News18 reported a strict no-phone policy at the wedding. Guests will reportedly deposit their phones for the ceremony, respecting the couple's desire for privacy. Official photographs will be shared post-wedding.

The guest list boasts prominent names like Aditya Roy Kapur and Ananya Pandey, expected to arrive on February 20th. Rashmika Mandanna shares harrowing experience as flight makes emergency landing; says, “This is how we escaped death today”

Popular actor Rashmika Mandanna encountered a nerve-wracking ordeal as the Air Vistara flight she boarded faced technical complications, leading to an emergency landing. The incident occurred during her journey from Mumbai to Hyderabad, accompanied by fellow actor Shraddha Das. Within just 30 minutes of takeoff, turbulence and technical glitches compelled the flight to return to Mumbai as a safety precaution for all passengers onboard.

Confirming the occurrence, an Air Vistara spokesperson informed NDTV, “Shortly after take-off, a technical snag was detected on Vistara flight UK531 operating from Mumbai to Hyderabad on 17 February 2024. As a precautionary step, in accordance with the standard operating procedures, the pilots decided to turn-back and landed the flight safely at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International airport, Mumbai.”

Efforts were promptly made to alleviate inconvenience for passengers, with an alternative aircraft arranged to resume the journey shortly after. Refreshments were provided to passengers during the transition.

Taking to Instagram, Rashmika Mandanna shared a selfie with Shraddha Das, shedding light on the alarming experience with a caption that read, “Just FYI this is how we escaped death today…”

On the work front, Rashmika Mandanna was recently seen in Animal and remains actively engaged in the filming of Pushpa 2: The Rule. Reprising her role as Srivalli alongside Allu Arjun, the upcoming film is highly anticipated following the blockbuster reception of its predecessor, Pushpa: The Rise, directed by Sukumar in 2021.
