Hamari Bahu Silk: Zaan Khan plans another protest; says he has sold one of his two cars

The makers of Humari Bahu Silk have not cleared the payments of their actors and crew which has led to a huge outbreak on social media. The actors have worked for close to a year on the show and they have only been paid for a month. Running out of funds to even buy the essentials, the crew including actors like Sarita Joshi and Zaan Khan have requested and protested silently for the makers to pay their dues.

Now, Zaan Khan says he is planning another protest outside one of the new residences of the producer. He further said that he has already sold all that he could including one of his cars. He recently did a commercial but the money won’t last long and has no money left to pay the rent. During the initial days of the lockdown, he had offered help to the crew members but if he does not get paid now, he will have to move back to his hometown in Bhopal. His parents have been insisting him to come back home and he will have no other choice left if things don’t take a turn for better.

People from the industry have also supported his idea of silent protest and think that the makers should do something about it rather than staying mum.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend claims that he is being pressured to give statements against Rhea Chakraborty by the late actor’s family

Movie Review: Lootcase

We all have different dreams and aims in life but one common dream for most is to get wealthy. But the reality of life is that despite slogging for years, most people are able to barely survive financially in today's world. Rajesh Krishnan’s comic caper LOOTCASE uses this as a crux and spins a funny story out of it. So does LOOTCASE manage to tickle the funny bone of the audiences? Or does it fail to entice? Let’s analyse. <img class="aligncenter wp-image-1123698 size-full" title="Movie Review Lootcase" src="https://ift.tt/2DpzFZO" alt="Movie Review Lootcase" width="720" height="405" /> LOOTCASE is the story of a common man who gets rich overnight. Nandan Kumar (Kunal Kemmu) resides in a chawl in Mumbai with his wife Lata (Rasika Dugal) and son Aayush (Aryan Prajapati). He works in a printing press and has a hand-to-mouth existence despite working hard and being the next contender for the ‘Kirori Mal Employee of The Year’ in his office. Meanwhile, MLA Patil (Gajraj Rao) has got a goon eliminated who is associated with the gangster, Bala Rathore (Vijay Raaz). Bala decides to take revenge. He finds out that Patil is going to send a sum of Rs. 10 crore and a controversial file, which consists of details of his shady dealings, to his party head. Patil sends two of his men – Omar (Sumit Nijhawan) and Abdul (Shashi Ranjan) – to get the suitcase, filled with money and the file. Bala’s men Rajan (Nilesh Divekar) and Graduate (Aakash Dabade) intercept Patil’s men and a shootout begins among them. Bala’s men get hold of the bag but have to escape without the moolah as the police lands up suddenly. But before running away, they hide the suitcase near a public toilet neatly and decide to come back in an hour’s time to retrieve. As luck would have it, Nandan happens to use the toilet minutes after the shootout is over at that exact same place. He gets hold of the suitcase and realizing that nobody is nearby, he takes it with him. He hides it in the house of his neighbour Ramlal (Ghanshyam Garg) who is away for a fortnight. Nandan now starts to spend the money gradually on his family. Lata gets a bit suspicious though. Meanwhile, Patil is distraught when he learns about the missing suitcase and he gets Inspector Kolte (Ranvir Shorey) to retrieve the bag for him. Kolte realizes that finding the bag is next to impossible. The CCTV at the shootout site is non-functional. Also, Kolte believes that some local gangster has looted the suitcase. Nandan, meanwhile, hasn’t done anything to arouse the suspicion of the police or even the gangsters. What happens next forms the rest of the film. Kapil Sawant and Rajesh Krishnan's story is nothing new and might remind of similar films in this space or genre like DELHI BELLY [2011], EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL [2007], BLACKMAIL [2018], PHIR HERA PHERI [2006] etc. But Kapil Sawant and Rajesh Krishnan's screenplay is highly effective. There are tons of funny moments in the film which will raise loads of laughs. Also, these comic scenes are not urban or niche and have a pan India appeal. A few developments however are unconvincing. Also, the killing of the character in the first scene and its repercussions could have been better explained. The file plays an important role in the film and it doesn’t get its due in the film. Thankfully, the plusses outweigh the minuses. Kapil Sawant's dialogues are very witty and funny. In fact, the smart one-liners elevate impact considerably. Rajesh Krishnan’s direction is smooth and uncomplicated. There are multiple tracks in the film and all of them progress well. There’s no jerk in terms of sequence change. At a few scenes, he falters but overall, it’s a decent film debut of this director who has earned fame in the web series and advertising space. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-1123700" src="https://ift.tt/30gR2ot" alt="" width="720" height="405" /> LOOTCASE takes a while to settle. The initial 15-20 minutes are spent in introducing various characters. Once Nandan gets hold of the suitcase, the film goes on a high. The scene where he is splurging for his family’s happiness is endearing. But it’s the supporting characters that really add to the humour tremendously. Whether it’s MLA Patil’s psychological tactic of getting work done or Bala giving references of animal’s scientific names and even promoting National Geographic to Kolte’s sarcasm and aggressive behaviour, most of these characters have unique traits that not only keep the interest going but bring the house down. In the second half however, the film drops. The song <em>'Pavitra Party'</em> is forced while Nandan attempting to buy a flat is silly and needlessly adds to the length. Nandan keeping the wet currency notes on terrace for drying is also quite unconvincing. But the interest is revived once Kolte goes to the bank and gets some details about the bag thief. The climax is maddening and it’s interesting to see how the humour has been kept intact. The final scenes raise lot of questions which are left unanswered but no complaints though. Kunal Kemmu delivers a genuinely fine performance. His comic timing is first-rate and he underplays his part very well. Rasika Dugal is lovely and plays the role of the righteous housewife to the T. She is the emotional backbone of the film and hence stands out from the rest. Gajraj Rao is excellent and the way he persuades others to get his work done will be loved. Vijay Raaz does his deadpan humourous act yet again but this time, he’s equipped with a novel character trait and that helps. Ranvir Shorey is the surprise of the film. He brings out the humour with his aggression and sarcasm. At places, it’s his scenes that work the most. Vijay Nikam (Nandan’s boss Vasant Goenka) doesn’t get to do much but shines in the pre-climax. Aryan Prajapati is entertaining. Sumit Nijhawan and Shashi Ranjan are okay and same goes for Atul Todankar (PA Subhash). Nilesh Divekar and Aakash Dabade however have a good screen presence. Ghanshyam Garg, Digvijay (Jameel), Sachin Naik (auto driver Keshav Prajapati), Manuj Sharma (Faizu) and Preeti Sharma (Real estate salesperson) are decent. Himanshu Sharma (Supermanav) is nothing great but what’s disappointing is that such an interesting character doesn’t get utilized properly in the film. Music is nothing great. <em>'Laal Peti'</em> is soothing while <em>'Pavitra Party'</em> is wasted. <em>'Muft Ka Chandan Chandan'</em> is played in the end credits. Sameer Uddin's background score has the wicked and quirky feel. Sanu John Varughese's cinematography is appropriate. The chawl scenes are especially well shot. One can feel the characters struggling to survive in a small space. Rateesh UK's production design is very authentic. The chawl and printing press look straight out of life and probably shot in real locations. And the book shop is a lovely set and well thought of. Divvya and Nidhhi Gambhir's costumes are realistic. Manohar Verma's action is a bit gory especially in the end. Anand Subaya's editing is neat and except for few scenes in the beginning of second half, nothing in the film is unwanted or forced. On the whole, LOOTCASE is a highly entertaining and funny film which works due to its superb writing, smooth direction and effective performances.

But, how exactly did Tom Cruise secure such a massive budget? According to Deadline, "All it took was an exuberant Zoom call with Tom Cruise, director Doug Liman, Christopher McQuarrie, and PJ van Sandwijk. They pitched the picture with no script (Liman is writing it), and came away with a production commitment around $200 million."

Jim Bridenstine, who works as an official administrator at NASA, confirmed the news stating, "NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station! We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality."

Akshay Kumar to start shooting his action-packed digital series in second half of 2021

In March 2019, Akshay Kumar made a fiery announcement that he would be starring in a digital show called The End. This would be his first series Amazon Prime Original thriller series. He had put himself on fire as a part of the stunts planned for the announcement day. As it was reported earlier, the plan was to take the show on the floor by December 2020 and Akshay Kumar was to join by January 2021.

Akshay Kumar to start shooting his action-packed digital series in second half of 2021

But, the coronavirus pandemic played the spoilsport. Since schedules have been pushed ahead amid the pandemic and lockdown, the makers are now looking to the roll by the second half of 2021. Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Entertainment told a daily it will take a while for everything to get back to normal. He said that since Akshay Kumar has prior work commitments too, they are hoping for it to roll in 2021 now.

He said that they've taken their time to build the material, promising that it will be mounted on a scale that will be befitting for Akshay Kumar.

Akshay Kumar had earlier said, “I have always believed in bringing innovation to my work and throughout my career, have tried to tell unique stories, work with break-through talent and be part of disruptive and high-quality story-telling. Together, Abundantia and I have created some of my most memorable roles in films like Baby, Airlift and Toilet-Ek Prem Katha and their passion towards their films and projects is incredible. From the very concept of the show, I am working very closely with Vikram and his team as they create this compelling and highly intriguing story. I can’t wait to start rolling for this action-adventure series that will be Amazon Original for global audiences. The digital world excited me and I am delighted to make my streaming debut with this show. And if I were to make a small confession here, it was my son Aarav who suggested that I make my digital debut as that’s what the youth is hooked onto. On this medium, I want to create something extraordinary and connect with them.”

Being envisioned at an unprecedented scale and cinematic experience, the show promises to bring in the next level of the action genre.

Sonu Sood announces 3 lakh jobs for migrant labourers on Pravasi Rojgar job portal

On his birthday on Thursday, Sonu Sood posted about providing jobs to 3 lakh labourers via Pravasi Rojgar job portal that will also provide additional benefits including PF and ESI. "On my birthday a small initiative from my side...3 lakh jobs tied up for Pravasirojgar.com. All these will provide good wages, PF, ESI, and other benefits," he wrote.

"Thank you AEPC, CITI, Trident, Quesscorp, Amazon, Sodex, Urban Co, Portea, and all others for creating these opportunities with me. #AbIndiaBanegaKamyaab @pravasirojgar," he wrote.

“I’ve been a part of the film industry for twenty years and done about 100 films. But nothing I’ve done so far has given me this kind of inner peace and satisfaction. I now feel that I migrated to Mumbai to be an actor so one day I could help these migrants. I feel this was something I was born to do. I feel blessed that God has chosen me for this mission,” Sonu Sood told Bollywood Hungama recently on helping migrants.

In the upcoming episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, Sonu shared, “While arranging for travel, I used to enquire about when they will come back and whether or not they will come back at all. To which I used to get a standard response saying if they get a job they will come, else they will try and figure something in their own hometown. This got me thinking. Being from the engineering background myself, I started work on a platform along with my team, to figure a way in which these people could get a job through an app. It took us 2-3 months to build this and through this app, anyone, from any state, can upskill themselves, or even find a suitable job in another state. By the time this episode goes on air, around 1 – 1.5 lakh people would have found themselves a job.”

Rumi Jaffery on Sushant Singh Rajput’s father’s FIR

Writer-director Rumi Jaffery who was close to both Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea Chakraborty says the latest sudden development in the case has left him stunned and shocked. “When I heard that Sushant’s father has filed an FIR in Patna against Rhea and her family, I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t sleep the whole night. Dil kehta hai yeh nahin ho sakta. But then I think of Sushant’s grieving father. He hasn’t spoken about the issue since his son’s death. Why would he suddenly speak up if it wasn’t the truth? I am very confused. I didn’t sleep the night after Sushant’s father’s FIR,” says Rumi.

Rumi Jaffery on Sushant Singh Rajput’s father’s FIR

Did Rumi ever see any tension between Sushant and Rhea? “I met them as an outsider. We spoke only about films. What goes on between a couple is known only to the two people in a relationship. I say, let the law takes it course. Let’s not speculate on Rhea’s guilt or non-guilt.”

Shekhar Suman, a vocal supporter of the campaign to get justice for Sushant says, “The development was inevitable. Things were heating up. I was sure there would be twist in the ongoing narrative. And here it is.”

Shekhar feels the Sushant case is spreading into many directions. “But the good thing is that the clamour for a CBI investigation is louder than ever. Sushant’s father’s FIR could be the first major step towards getting justice for Sushant. Beyond that, it’s too premature to say anything.”

The real reason why A R Rahman gets less work in Bollywood

Not gangeism, or groupism. If the composing wizard A R Rahman is kept out of Bollywood’s bastion it is because of his insistence on publishing rights. A top-notch musician spills the beans. “There was a time when every major director in Bollywood wanted to work with A R Rahman. They still do. But there is a problem. Rahman insists on retaining the publishing rights of his soundtracks. This right, no producer would give to any musician, at least not in India.”

The real reason why A R Rahman gets less work in Bollywood

The musician who has worked with the biggest banners says Rahman is wrong to blame a ‘gang’ in Bollywood for his relative scarcity of work. “Way back in 2003 Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar offered Kal Ho Na Ho to Rahman. When he asked for publishing rights they quickly signed Shankar-Ehaan-Loy for Kal Ho Na Ho. And Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions never worked with Rahman.”

The musician says there is nothing unfair about this. “Cinema is a business like any other. Why shouldn’t Karan Johar safeguard his business interests? I am not saying Rahman asking for publishing rights is wrong. But in the Hindi music industry, the immortal legends Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle didn’t get publishing rights. For Rahman to expect it is impractical and unreal.”

When I approached Rahman to know more about the “gangs” of Bollywood he has spoken about, he responded with, “How are you? Our team internally felt this news is now done ..we are moving on ...Let’s catch up and do a general one next month if you are still interested. Wishing you the best...take care.”

For over a month, Mumbai Police is investigating his death. Now, Bihar Police has also started their independent investigation after an FIR for abetment to suicide was filed against Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family by Sushant's father Krishna Kumar Singh.

Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: Bihar Police records statements of Ankita Lokhande, cook and bank manager

A four-member team of police left from Patna on July 28 to question Rhea Chakraborty and her family.  On July 30, three banks were visited by the cops where Sushant had his bank accounts. They even recorded a statement of the bank manager. Even his cook and his former girlfriend Ankita Lokhande’s statements were recorded on Thursday. This was to corroborate the claims made by KK Singh and Sushant’s sister Mitu Singh that around Rs 15 crores was transferred from Sushant’s accounts over the past year to different accounts.

Earlier this week, Sushant’s father KK Singh filed an FIR against Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family for abetment to suicide. Sanjay Kumar Singh, inspector general, central range, revealed that an FIR was lodged at the Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna against Rhea and her family members Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Shruti Modi, Showik Chakraborty, and others. It was filed under Sections 341, 342, 380, 406,420, 306, and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code.

Mumbai Police has recorded statements of over 40 people including Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mahesh Bhatt, Rhea Chakraborty, among others in relation to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

Ankita Lokhande breaks her silence on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, claims he was not depressed

Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14 after he was found hanging in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai. His ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande has finally spoken on his death and cites that he could not have taken his life and that he wasn't depressed.

Ankita Lokhande breaks her silence on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, claims he was not depressed

Speaking to Republic TV on July 30, Ankita said, Sushant was not the guy who could commit suicide. We have seen worse situations when we were together. He was a happy-go-lucky guy.".

Ankita Lokhande and Sushant Singh Rajput met on the sets of Pavitra Rishta TV show and were in a relationship until 2016. "How much ever I know him, he wasn’t a depressed guy. I have not seen a person like Sushant, a guy who used to write his own dreams, he had a diary... He had his 5-year plan — what he wants to do, how he will look, etc. And exactly after 5 years, he had fulfilled them. And when things like ‘depression’ are used after his name... it is heartbreaking. He might be upset, anxious, yes, but depression is a big word. Calling someone ‘bipolar’ is a big thing," she added.

"I can say that he was not depressed. He came from a small town. He established himself on his own. He has taught me so many things, he taught me acting. Does anyone know who Sushant was? Everyone is writing their own portrayal of how 'depressed' he was, it hurts reading all of this," she continued.

She further said, "He found happiness in small things. He wanted to do farming, I know this for sure... he told me agar kuch nai hua to main apni short film bana lunga. He was not a depressed guy, not at all. I don't know what the situation was... but I will keep repeating this. I don't want people to remember him as a depressed guy, he was a hero. He was an inspiration."

On Thursday, July 30, Bihar Police visited Ankita Lokhande's residence to record her statement in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. She had also given her statement to the Mumbai Police. Both entities are separately investigating the death now after Sushant's father filed an FIR on abetment to suicide against Rhea Chakraborty and her family.

Rhea Chakraborty tells Supreme Court that she was in live-in relationship with Sushant Singh Rajput

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput passed away more than a month ago. He died by suicide on June 14 and was found hanging in his Bandra apartment. The untimely demise of the actor shook the entire nation. As Mumbai Police is currently investigating his death, Bihar Police has also started their independent investigation after an FIR for abetment to suicide was filed against Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family by Sushant's father Krishna Kumar Singh.

Rhea Chakraborty tells Supreme Court that she was in live-in relationship with Sushant Singh Rajput

Rhea Chakraborty, in her plea to Supreme Court, said that Sushant Singh Rajput's father Krishna Kumar Singh has used his influence in order to rope her in for the death of Sushant after filing the FIR in Patna, Bihar. The petition filed by her on July 29 seeks transfer of the FIR from Patna to Mumbai where she alleged that she has been falsely implicated.

In her petition, Rhea Chakraborty revealed she was in live-in relationship with Sushant Singh Rajput since a year and upto June 8, 2020 when she temporarily shifted to her own apartment in Mumbai. The petition cited that she is in trauma since the death of Sushant and has been receiving rape and death threats continuously. It also mentioned the complaint she filed against the threats received on social media.

The petition further stated that the deceased was in depression and was on anti-depressants. Bandra Police had filed unnatural death report and the cause leading to the tragedy is currently being examined.

Rhea Chakraborty was summoned by Mumbai Police and recorded the statement under section 175 of CrpC. Some of the forensic reports are still awaited. She cited that under the section 177 of CrpC, every offence shall be inquired into and tried by the magistrate within the local jurisdiction.

She said thay there's iota of truth in the FIR filed by Sushant's father and cites that there can't be an impartial investigation in Bihar and hence, seeks transfer of probe to Mumbai.

On July 30, Lawyer Alka Priya, who filed the PIL, was told by the court to let the police to do the investigation. She stated that Sushant had done a lot of work for children and even facilitated their training at NASA and therefore, his death should be investigated by CBI. Chief Justice S Bobde told the lawyer that the case had nothing to do with whether Sushant was a good or bad person. The court dismissed the CBI probe plea.

Two days ago, Sushant’s father KK Singh filed an FIR against Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family for abetment to suicide. Sanjay Kumar Singh, inspector general, central range, revealed that an FIR was lodged at the Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna against Rhea and her family including Indrajit Chakraborty, Sandhya Chakraborty, Shruti Modi, Showik Chakraborty and others. "Going back in time to relive an iconic slice of cricketing history instantly drew me to 83" - Tahir Raj Bhasin

Tahir Raj Bhasin’s career is definitely on a high. The versatile actor has just signed his first film as a romantic hero and will be paired opposite Taapsee Pannu in Loop Lapeta. Tahir’s last film Chhichhore was a huge hit and his next film 83, about India winning the cricket world cup in 1983, is definitely the biggest film of his career as he is working with superstar Ranveer Singh.

"Going back in time to relive an iconic slice of cricketing history instantly drew me to 83" : says Tahir Raj Bhasin
Tahir, who plays the role of Sunil Gavaskar in Kabir Khan’s ambitious directorial, reveals how he landed the project. He says, “Kabir Khan was working out of the same office building where Nitesh Tiwari’s production office for Chhichhore was located. I was in rehearsals for Chhichhore when Kabir sir was prepping for 83 . We crossed paths a number of times but he never spoke about his film. It was only after he and the films casting director Mukesh Chhabra watched Manto, in which I play the 40’s Bollywood star Shyam Chaddha, Mukesh got me to meet Kabir sir to formally speak about the part of Sunil Gavaskar. The idea of going back in time to relive an iconic slice of cricketing history instantly drew me to the concept.”

Taking about what made him sign 83 that has an amalgamation of the best acting talent from across the country, he says, “Working on the part of Derek in Chhichhore was an absolute blast and the huge success of the film was amazingly gratifying. Playing the hero in Loop Lapeta is going to be a thrilling new chapter that I look forward to. About the ensemble in 83, I’d say there are some projects one picks because you read the script and just know that this is going to be a once in a life time experience!”

Tahir adds, “83 for me is just that, an experience film. In such projects, it’s never about the size of an ensemble it’s what you go through with the entire team and the impact that has on one’s performance. The only question I asked myself before signing the film was, when next is a World Cup film going to be made where the cast moves to the UK for 3 months and travels across cities training and living like a team as they shoot at iconic cricket locations like Lords and the Oval?”

Given his track record, Kabir Khan is a film-maker that any actor would want to work with. Tahir reveals how the director was supremely invested in his preparation process. Tahir says, “Kabir Khan is a very hands on director with a specific creative vision. His awesomeness stems from the fact that he is intensely involved in every step of the prep and then gives you your space when it’s time to roll. Factual accuracy is something he has a keen eye for and I was constantly given visual and audio references for my part as Sunil Gavaskar. He also constantly kept track of my cricket practise because the physicality of the part in such a film is most important. I’m very excited to see how all of our prep pans out on screen and how it will be pieced together.”

“Talvar was directed by Meghna Gulzar and is her creation,” clarifies Vishal Bharadwaj

Recently, author of Calling Sehmat, Harinder Sikka claimed that filmmaker Meghna Gulzar did not direct the Irrfan Khan starrer Talvar. Meghna made the 2018 film Raazi which was based on Harinder's book. However, now filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has denied the claim made by Sikka.

“Talvar was directed by Meghna Gulzar and is her creation,” clarifies Vishal Bharadwaj

Vishal took to Twitter to clarify that he visited the sets of Talvar only once and that the film was directed by Meghna Gulzar. “I only went on the sets of Talvar once, on the muhurat to break the coconut and have gulab jamun. Talvar was directed by @meghnagulzar and it was out and out her creation. Anyone who refutes this is misinformed. @JungleePictures #PritiShahani @PritiShahani,” he tweeted.

“She has proved her creative prowess again with the beautiful Raazi and the brave Chhapaak,” he added.

In a recent interview with an entertainment portal Harinder Sikka said that lyricist Gulzar had made him promise to make his daughter Meghna Gulzar the director of Raazi as she was out of work after Talvar (2015). He also said that Meghna was struggling after Talvar as there was a buzz in the market that the film was not made by her but by Vishal Bhardwaj. In the same interview Singh said that he had asked Bharadwaj about the same and the filmmaker said, “This is my gurudakshina to my guru [Gulzar].” Sikka claimed that Vishal's name was removed by Meghna to take all the credit.
